Chapter 1
A New World

The book flipped its cover open, revealing the first of its many pages.

He was slowly awakening from his slumber as he opened his amethyst eyes. Spyro shut his eyes closed after a ray of sunlight shone into them, and he re-opened them a few seconds later. Spyro looked around, seeing he was alive and well after the battle with Malefor in his lair of the destroyed Dragon Temple.

He blinked.

How in the world did he end up in the plains of Avalar if he and Cynder was fighting the Dark Master, besting him in combat, and restored the world? Wait.

Spyro tilted his head in confusion at that thought. If he restored the world and saved it from total destruction...what happened to Cynder? Did she make it out as well?

He panicked. He jumped to his paws as he looked around frantically for the black dragon.

"Cynder!" Spyro called out.

No answer.

He tried again. "Cynder! Are you here?"

No response.

Spyro panicked again. He was getting worried for his friend. He stood there, trying to calm his head as he sighed in disturbance at the mere thought of her if she didn't make it out with him from the world's core.

She groaned as she slowly regained consciousness. Cynder opened her emerald green eyes as she held her head at the headache that had been there since she gained her consciousness back. She looked around while removing her paw from her head as she blinked in wonder, and then a graceful smile appeared on her features.

She was alive. And the world was saved thanks to Spyro.

She frowned.

She was alone in this part of Avalar as she looked around while being observation to her surroundings. She stood up from where she was, shaking her head to clear her mind from the endless thoughts that was plaguing her.

How are we in Avalar? Did Spyro make it out? What should we do if we find each other in Avalar? Did he hear what I...?

She stopped thinking about that last one. Slowly, she started to think of the possibility that Spyro did not hear her saying 'I love you' from the world's core after their fight with Malefor.

"Spyro!" Cynder called out.

No answer.

Cynder shook her head before she spread her wings and took flight into the sky above. While she was in the air, Cynder felt more free than before during the war with the Dark Army. Now she was free of the chains that had been on her since her birth into the dark times.

Spyro flapped his wings after having taken flight to the calm sky. His mind was with thoughts that disturbed him. Things like, 'Did she make it out?', 'Where is she?', and so on.

He was getting a bit tired of flying for three hours, so he landed down at the clearing where there was a stream of water. Spyro walked up to the stream, lowering his head down, and he took some gulps of the water down his throat. Feeling it being refreshed, he took a couple more gulps down from the stream before he heard some wings that sounded familiar.

Spyro looked up, smiling in happiness as he noticed Cynder land at the other side of the stream before she eyed him with wide eyes.

"Spyro!"

"Cynder!"

They met on the other side after Spyro flew to her, and they rubbed their heads at each other in a nuzzle before the purple dragon spoke.

"Where were you? I was getting worried." He told her.

"I was in a plain of Avalar, just north from here." She replied.

Spyro sighed, rubbing his cheek against hers to calm him down. "At least you're safe. That's all what matters," he whispered to her draconic ear.

Cynder felt herself enjoying his company as she hummed softly, leaning her head to his side while they quietly enjoyed the peaceful moment.

The Valley of Avalar was the first place where they resurfaced after killing Malefor. And only about a week has passed since the restoration of the world, and its inhabitants were slowly rebuilding their races from their near destruction. by the Dark Master. Spyro and Cynder were happy to be together after the world have been saved from the Destroyer.

The Destroyer is a massive earth golem that was destined to destroy the world once awakened. However, the purple dragon and his friend rushed to try and defeat the creature from going into the Ring of Fire. They did not succeed in their mission, and the Destroyer plunged itself down towards the core of the world. After the heroes managed to beat Malefor, by a miracle, the Destroyer was stopped after Spyro used his powers to pull the world back to its former position.

Once that was done, the two dragons seemingly vanished from the world. But, in reality, they resurfaced in the valley of the cheetahs soon afterward.

Cynder felt him not moving as she leaned back and looked straight into his amethyst eyes. "Spyro, are you alright?" She had concern in her voice as he stared back to her.

"Yes," he replied with a smile. "I'm just glad we're together again."

"And so am I." Cynder agreed as she sighed softly before grinning to him, earning a confused look on his expression. She touched him with her claw, turning around as she called to him, "You're it!" She spread her wings and flew off the ground as Spyro blinked before shaking his head fondly before taking off after her in a game of tag.

Spyro smirked as he looked in front to her, and he dived into the forest below them. Cynder grinned as she quickly turned around and followed after him through the green forest. She dodged many trees, going as far to follow where the purple dragon was leading her to.

Cynder stopped in midair for a moment as she lost his form around a tree. She giggled softly to herself, enjoying the game as she was having fun while chasing after the purple dragon of legends. She looked around to find any traces of him, but did not see where he was hiding.

Suddenly, she was touched from behind, and she whirled her head around in surprise to find Spyro grinning to her.

"Now, you're it!" He told her before turning and raised himself into the air as quickly as he could before she touched him.

"That's a bit unfair, Spyro!" Cynder called to her friend, but she received a laugh in response.

"That's how it is to be sneaky, Cy!" Spyro replied as he beat his wings and flew away from the chasing dragoness who laughed heartily in their game.

Spyro, looking behind him for a split second, smirked as he barrel rolled in the air to dodge the closing dragoness who almost neared him with her paw. Cynder huffed as she flew after him once more. He was thoroughly enjoying their moment before he spotted someone on the ground who looked familiar, and he flew down to the familiar creature. Cynder followed after him, their game having ended after they saw the person.

The cheetah smiled warmly to the two landing dragons as he spoke with a voice that sounded in relief. "Spyro, Cynder. It's good to see you've returned. I was worried for you in three weeks."

"Three weeks?" Spyro's eyes widened as he looked at Hunter. "That's how long it took to get out of that tunnel, Cynder?" He looked to the dragoness in question as she shrugged in reply.

"Yes, it's been three weeks since Malefor's defeat." Hunter nodded to the purple dragon. "The Guardians and I came to an agreement that I should be the one searching for you since I had a gut feeling you'd be in the Valley of Avalar."

"Huh...I wonder how they're doing." Spyro muttered before looking back to Hunter. "Hunter, how's life in your village?"

A wide smile crossed Hunter's features. "I'm glad you asked. Chief Prowlus is doing well, and they're rebuilding the village from the ground up after the flying creatures from Malefor had destroyed our home. I was helping them in the process for two weeks before I went out for a search for you two."

"That's nice." Cynder spoke.

"On top of that," Hunter began, "everyone has seen your heroic deeds, Cynder. They no longer see you as an evil creature. Except for some people, of course. They need more time to see the truth from you. If you and Spyro are up for it, we can see to those people on how they view you at this time. I will warn you; they're still not very welcoming of dragons in their home."

Spyro and Cynder looked at each other before glancing back to Hunter. "How far is this people's home you're speaking of?" the former asked.

"About ten thousands miles beyond the seas," Hunter replied.

Spyro widened his eyes in surprise and shock. "They live that far away?!"

"It's to protect them from evil creatures that might have threatened them in the past," Hunter explained. "These people are nothing like the Dark Army's former ape soldiers. From what I read on my journey across the Realms for you, Spyro, these people have thousands in their home in the Northern Realms beyond the seas. They can even have large armies if they so wish."

"Whoa...that's something, alright." Spyro was speechless about the number of these strange people. "What are they?"

"From what I read," Hunter started. "They have no fur, no tail to balance their bodies with, and they have armor to protect them from any threat that might come near them. They're what is called the human race."

"Human?" Cynder echoed the word. "I think I've seen them before in the war...but I'm not so sure."

"That's because they were hiding themselves well," Hunter told her. "They were either afraid of the Dark Army, or they were unprepared during that time of crisis. Now that they've left, they're mostly prepared for anything that is to happen with them."

Spyro then asked, "How do you know all this stuff?"

Hunter smiled. "The library in the Warfang Temple has some useful information to all races in the world. Except, this species of the human is relative unknown until we know more about them."

"We will gladly help you reach out to the humans," Cynder told her cheetah friend.

"Thank you, both of you." Hunter nodded gratefully. "I'll lead you two back to the Dragon City right away. It shouldn't take more than three days to get there."

He turned and began his walk, with Spyro and Cynder sharing a quick glance at each other before following Hunter back to Warfang.

Author's Note:

Hello, dear readers. I'm finally back in the Spyro series, and I have one great tale to write for you. If any of you is interested in a style like Game of Thrones and The Lord of the Rings, then this story is for you. I've been figuring out how to do something modeled after those two series after giving myself some ideas to use for this story.

I've included the humans in this story that was born in the Dragon World rather than having a human from Earth being sent to the Realms. That's getting too old now. So, I thought of something new to use the humans for, and this was the idea I came up with after beginning to watching Game of Thrones's first season.

The first act will be the focus of the humans and their lives, and the story moves on from there. It'll be a long one, so I've split it up into several parts instead of one big piece of work.

I've already begun plotting this act, and I'll soon to begin writing the human arc of this story. I hope you'll enjoy my work, my readers. Enjoy!

-Daniel.
