Seth couldn't sleep. They had done the test a week ago, but they were so busy with other things. This test was at the bottom of their priorities list.
He jumped every time the phone rang. He just needed to know. Liv was now working for Dean at his bar. They needed more hands since Diana went on maternity leave.
Sonya and Mandy took the morning shift since there were far less customers. Brie, Alexa, and Liv took night. The bars were usually packed, especially at night.
His phone started ringing, looking at the time, it was two in the morning. Reaching for it, it was Roman's phone. He wondered if Diana had gone into labor.
"Rome, is D okay?", he asked quickly.
"Aw, you care. I'm touched, but yes, I am fine", Diana said.
Seth sighed and rubbed his tired eyes.
"Don't you know what time it is?", he asked.
"I do, but Kaia doesn't. Anyway, I know you're awake, I overheard you telling Roman you've been having a hard time sleeping", she said.
He sighed.
"True", he mumbled.
"Why? Talk to me Seth, maybe getting it off your chest will help", she said.
"Did he tell you about Liv?", he asked.
"Yup, my husband doesn't keep secrets from me. Not even yours, so if I were you, I would watch what I tell him", she said.
Seth chuckled.
"Did he tell you Liv and I kissed?", he asked.
"What? No, he didn't. How did that happen? Did you lean in or her? Details Seth", she said quickly.
"Wow, you must be bored", he replied.
She sighed.
"Just a little", she replied.
"Well, it just did. I leaned in, but I couldn't help it. She looked so beautiful and, I felt so stupid for doing it after. So I ran without a word", he said.
"You love her", Diana said.
Seth swallowed.
"This is kind of awkward, isn't it. You know, because of what went down between you and I", he said.
"Honestly? No. I'm happy for you, Seth. I see you as my friend, and I am madly in love with my husband.", she said.
He nodded.
"We were always better as friends", he replied.
"Hey, we got a great kid out of it", she said.
"We did", he had to agree.
There was a long pause before he heard shuffling.
"What's that?", he asked.
"Couldn't help it, the Ruffles were calling me. I love these chips", she said.
He laughed softly.
"You should tell her, Seth. Even if Max isn't yours, you can make a life with them.", she said.
"Hey, it worked out pretty well for Roman", he replied.
She giggled.
"It did", she replied, rubbing her bump.
"Thanks D", he said.
"Anytime, Kaia and I are usually up around two am. Kid has some strong kicks, I think it might be Roman's snoring keeping her up.", she said.
Seth laughed.
"Goodnight Seth, try to get some sleep", she said.
"I will. Night", he replied, before setting his phone down.
Roman walked into the kitchen and rubbed his eyes. He yawned.
"Babe, it's too early for Ruffles", he said.
"Don't blame me, blame your daughter", she said, pointing at her belly.
He smirked and walked over, running his hand over her belly.
"Let me know when you are ready to go back up", he said.
"I can do it myself", she replied.
"Do I need to remind you that you almost went tumbling down. If Dean hadn't caught you babe, we wouldn't be here talking about it", he said.
She nodded.
"I know", she replied.
"I help you up and down at all times. I don't want to lose you both", he said softly, kissing the side of her head.
She nodded again. He leaned down and kissed her.
"I think Kaia has had enough chips", she smiled.
"Yes, blame my unborn child", he said.
"Hey, while I still can", she replied.
He shook his head at her with a smile.
The next morning, Roman had dropped off Diana at Dean's bar. He had to fly out of town. Sonya had made her some tea as Mandy glared at her. Sonya elbowed her coworker.
"Get to work", she said.
Mandy rolled her eyes before pushing away from the counter. Dean rushed in.
"Good morning to you too", she called.
He quickly came back out from the back office. He joined her at the table and she watched him bite his finger nails.
"You okay?", she asked.
"Brie proposed a few days ago. I said yes", he said.
Diana smiled.
"That's great, but is that why you are freaking out? I thought it's what you wanted?", Diana asked.
"She might be pregnant D", he said.
Her jaw dropped open.
"I mean, I want to be a dad, but you know I wanted to be married first and kind of let Leah and Luis get use to it, to me. I mean, they had just found out I was dating their mom. Now, hey kids, we're getting married and having a baby", Dean said.
Diana nodded. She knew his worry, especially since Leah had caught them and hadn't been happy about it.
"What about waiting for marriage? I mean, you don't have to be married yet. The baby you can't hide. I'm sure Leah and Luis are going to be happy about it", Diana said.
Dean nodded.
"I just don't want either of them to hate me, or hate the baby.", he said.
"I know", Diana nodded.
He sat back.
"So Brie is pregnant?", she asked.
"We will find out later. She wants me to be there when she takes it", he replied.
"If it helps, you'll make a great dad", Diana said.
He reached over and took her hands.
"Thanks D", he replied.
Diana shifted uncomfortably.
"You okay?", he asked.
She exhaled.
"I think I might be having Braxton Hicks, I had them around this time when I was pregnant with Noah.", she replied.
"You sure? Do I need to call the big guy back?", he asked.
"Um, no, I've got this. My body is just getting ready for the main event", she laughed softly.
Dean didn't believe her. She looked worried.
"How about you stick around here for a bit, just to be sure. For me", he said.
She nodded. Dean stood and walked over to Sonya.
"Hey, keep an eye on Diana for me.", Dean whispered so Mandy wouldn't hear.
If baby Kaia decided to come early, he didn't need Mandy putting out her negative energy around his niece.
"You got it", Sonya replied.
Dean pulled his phone out when he got to his office.
"No worries big guy, everything is cool, but Diana has been having those Braxton Hicks things." He sent.
He got a reply back instantly.
"Fuck, okay, I am coming home. They can wait a few more days."
Diana would kill Roman for skipping out on work, and then kill Dean for snitching.
"No, I've got this. Trust me. If my little lady decides to make her grand entrance I will call you. Leave your ringer on."
"You sure?", Roman had texted.
"Positive. Promise bud, I won't let you miss her birth."
"Thanks Dean".
Roman knew he could trust Dean with this. He also knew how important this was to him.
