Having missed the first few days of the second school year did not go to Sakura's plan of making a good impression on her new classmates. However, she couldn't control the fact that Konoha was such a closed-off village away from the city so delays in transportation should have been accounted for. Another obstacle her plan did not account for was how challenging opening the oak door to her new classroom would be.
Looking down Sakura sees thorny vines attaching her shoes to the ground. Yep, she's very nervous and her quirk is not helping the situation. 'C'mon Saks, get your shit together! Were over being shy about social interactions, what would Tsunade think?'
The pinkettle let out a small sigh, she was grateful that she was chosen as the transfer student between U. A and Konoha Academy but writing her name on an application form is always easier than walking to a room of future heroes.
U.A was an odd high school. Back in Konoha, they started the academy as soon as their quirks were manifested and deemed useful. Students then remained in the academy with the same classmates until graduation. Sakura loved her K.A life but if she ever wanted to be a pro she needed to branch out asap and gain connections.
With a quick flick of her wrist, she willed the vines away. 'YOSH! I'm representing Konoha right now, no time to be a little girl, I'm a hero!' She opened the oak door and had a set goal to walk in and make the best first impression class 2-A has ever seen.
…..Or that was the plan.
Before she could even get her second step in Sakura noticed a giant worm on the ground, jumping over the giant insect and avoiding meeting her face to the ground she instantly went into autopilot. "Trailing Succulent!" Out of her palms game long strands of Senecio radicans, they entangled the creature just tight enough to keep it in place and at that moment a groan came out from the bug. 'Worms don't groan' Sakura just stared at the mess of plants before her before the logical side of her brain took over. 'Worm? No this looks like a sleeping bag? There's a man in there!'
"I guess there are worse ways to introduce yourself to the class. Everyone meet the new transfer form Konoha Academy, Sakura Haruno." A strong burst of energy filled the room as Sakura felt no control over the succulents making them go limp and allowing an older man to crawl out.
'Oh… Oh no, this was the teacher!' Immediately she bows and mutters apologies so fast she was sure no one was understanding her.
"It's alright, once you settle in you'll see these brats cause more trouble than anyone would like to go through in a lifetime. I'm your new professor Aizawa, please finish introducing yourself to class 2-A with less…. plantlife" with that he immediately slouched over to the desk as if the whole situation never occurred.
Turning to face the class Sakura thought it would be best if she cleaned up first. "Ah sorry give me one second" With a snap of her fingers the plants wilted away and eventually left no trace of them ever being there. "Umm… hi, my name is Sakura Haruno. I'm from Konoha Academy and my quirk is Botanics! I hope we can learn to be good friends."
The room stayed silent and Sakura decided the best thing to do to keep her mind occupied is play with the hem of her skirt. "Umm so-"
Before she could cut the silence herself all hell broke loose.
"Pinky Twins!"
"A g-g-girl!"
"Botanicals?"
Among the screeches, Sakura's ears picked up the murmurs from other students mainly about Konoha Academy. To the average person, it was just another exclusive private school that only accepted citizens from their village. For the people with more advance knowledge of heroes and their inner workings, they know KA produces powerful heroes like CopyCat Kakashi and Slug Hime Tsunade. With how competitive the hero business is nowadays she wouldn't be surprised if some students were sizing her up. "Sorry for taking up a lot of your time."
Looking for the closest empty seat, Sakura simply sat down as Professor Aizawa made a cue for the class to take out their notes and prepare for the studies of the day. Normally Sakura saw herself as a bookworm but there was so much going on in her mind she found herself only looking around and making mental notes.
'I've tried to read up and compile as many mental notes as I can based on their first year… It might not help with my relationships with them seeing as they are all so close to one another but at least I have an idea of their quirks.'
Bakugou Katsuki… Explosions, and with a temper that will make Sasuke tell him to chill out.
Midoriya Izuku… with a smile that could rival the sun, he is often referred to by the media as the next symbol of peace.
Shoto Todoroki… half ice half fire, he's not a fan of his father and neither am I, men with egos and no sense of empathy are not my cup of tea.
Going down the rest of the class Sakura didn't realize she eventually set her stare on the back of the person in front of her which was the emotionally constipated Bakugou. Her eyes may have stayed on the boy too long as he probably sensed her looking at him and turned to only give her a snarl before looking back on the board. 'Yeah… definitely needs a chill pill.' Sighing she does what she normally did when she was bored during class, read her plant life encyclopedia.
Botanics normally wouldn't be seen as a quirk useful for hero work but Konoha and evidently U. A saw the potential Sakura's quirk can serve. With such a vague name many with the ability were able to simply raise a certain species of plants from the ground, but Sakura was special because her whole body was able to sprout life as long as she knew the cellular composition of the plant. Fortunately, Sakura's mind always latched onto new ideas quickly and since she knew of her quirk at a young age she became an expert at remembering things.
Currently, she was reading a text that had to do with medicinal herbs, the book was a gift from Tsunade before she left. 'Tsunade… I wonder what she would think of my entrance this morning?' A small smile crossed Sakura's face as she remembered the first time she trained with Tsunade and the growth she brought.
'That's right, I'm not scared little Sakura anymore. I'm going to show Tsundae that all her time morals went into the right hands!' and with that last thought, the lunch bell rang. Standing up, Sakura felt all her eyes on her back but refused to let it get to her. 'Breathe Haruno.' Setting her eyes on the door she focused on solely getting out of the door, that was the plan.
The plan didn't involve someone stepping in front of her.
The plan didn't involve a green head of curly locks standing in her way.
Or the kind smile that made her heart squeeze because it reminded her of her blonde whiskered best friend.
No… her plan was no match for Midoriya Izuku.
"Hello, My name is Midoriya Izuku. People call me Deku, that's my hero name too! Do you want to have lunch with me and my friends? I know it must be harsh being in a new school alone."
How could Sakura have said no? It would be as if she kicked a puppy. Accepting defeat for the plan she gave in.
"Umm yeah I actually know about all you guys, introductions really aren't needed… so lunch sounds good" Sakura gave Deku a small smile of her own. 'Making friends may be easier than I thought.'
She swore Dekus smile grew twice its size with one word. "Oh Deku? You already managed to befriend her, you didn't even wait for us to get here!" From behind Sakura came the girlish voice of Ochako Uraraka. "I see you're joining us for lunch. I'm Uraraka, it's nice to meet new people."
Uraraka was also a cheery one. Sakura couldn't help but have a faint blush after the interaction. "Wow everyone at U.A is really nice, you guys live up to the talk on tv." U.A was always plastered on the television anywhere she went, whether it was the next big villain catch the kids managed to do themselves or the big sports festival where she got most of her information. "U.A is an impressive school."
"Indeed, U. A harbors only the most skilled and talented students on their roster to become pro-heroes! We are glad that you are now on board with us! Iida Tenya at your service." Lending out a hand to shake in front of her Iida was also excited to meet the new pinkette, "New changes should always be added to keep a hero on their feet."
Deku, Uraraka, and Iida. They were all so open and bright, Sakura could feel her nerves go away with every second she spent around the trio. "Well, shall we go to lunch?" This time she gave them her biggest Naruto smile. It was all going in her favor, she met new friends and was feeling better.
Then the blonde pomeranian had to open his mouth.
"Hey extra! I don't care where you were from but you and the other extras are in my way!" Bakugou Katsuki will forever be a thorn in Sakuras' side if she doesn't speak up, so that's exactly what she did.
"Oh please forgive me you poor starving child, your presence is so insignificant that I didn't even realize you were there." Casually moving aside Sakura motions her hands for Bakugoud to pass. "After you Queen Explosion Murder." She knew this would get him irritated more than he already was but she had enough of him, there was enough testosterone in Konoha she didn't need this guy adding more.
"What did you say you Bi-'' Before Bakugou could even raise his hands a pair of vines shot out of Sakura's back and threw him out of the door. She stood there with a bored expression, 'yeah meek Sakura has left the building everyone else welcome Badass Sakura.' Turning away from the other shocked faces of her classmates she turns to her new friends.
"I'm starving! Let's get some lunch!"
Internally Sakura knew Tsunade would have been proud.
Lunch came and went along with the rest of school time and Sakura made her way back to the dorms UA had provided her. Yaomomo introduced herself as a class rep and offered to walk sakura back to the dorms. It wasn't as if Sakura didn't know where the dorms were, she already moved in and decorated her room to fit her style but she appreciated the kindness Momo showed her.
"I wanna see Sakus' room!" Mina yelled.
"Yeah yeah yeah! Dorm Tour season two!" Hagakura chipped in.
"Girls room!" Mineta screamed
"When we first moved into our dorms we went dorm to dorm seeing one another's room. You don't have to show us if you don't feel comfortable but I think it would be fun." Deku smiled, and of course who could say no to Midoriya.
"Eh? I don't mind I think it's a little odd that all of you guys are here." Back in Konoha, they lived in a closed-off village so dorming wasn't even a thought as everyone lived so close. Opening the doors revealed Sakura's room, nothing too fancy but it suited her. Beyond the average dorm furniture, sakura had a corner where she made her mini garden filled with succulents and ferns she knew could thrive with minimal sunlight.
"The plants give your room such an earthy smell!" Ojiro noted admiring the pinkettes mini garden.
Never giving up an opportunity to talk about plants Sakura's eyes twinkled in delight. "You like them? I have some plants I've been cultivating! You can have one once they've grown a bit, they're really easy to keep and-"
"Are these your friends Haruno?" Soft words caught the attention of the whole room. Next to her bedside Todoroki glanced at the frame that showed a picture Sakura kept of team seven.
"Ah, they… were my teammates. Konoha believed in raising heros in groups and once we graduate we can continue as a team or go solo." Moving to pick up the frame she placed it into view for the room as she first pointed at the boy on the right side of her photo self. "The blonde is Naruto, he's my best friend. Growing up he had no control of his quirk so people were scared of him but he never treated people badly and always had a smile on his face." With warm eyes, she took a few seconds to look at the picture before she moved on.
Her eyes went to her left where Sasuke had an annoyed scowl and let out a snort before continuing, "The one with the duck butt hair is Sasuke, his last name is Uchiha which some of you might know for their Agency which works with the police. Sasuke is an ass but he holds his friends closely. This picture was of Team Seven, I see them as my family Todoroki, much like you do with class A."
When she looked up at him Todoroki swore he saw time slow down. Her smile was so genuine he couldn't help but admire her and how open she was being with him, a stranger. A hint of red crept on his face and he couldn't help but say what was on his mind, "it is admirable how strong you are with your emotions." Seeing her eyes widen and a blush showing up on her face Todoroki wondered if he said the right thing but before she could even open her mouth they were interrupted.
"Is that Copy Cat Kakashi?!" Deku ran towards the duo and began talking so fast that Sakura couldn't keep up.
"Ah yes! Kakashi was my teams' sensei, we've all been a team since we were twelve." Kakashi may not have focused too much on Sakura but he gave her the wisdom she needed to face the harshness of the hero world. Sakura tried to answer all of Deku's questions but as time went on she felt herself yawn.
"Well, I think it's time to call it a day. Thank you Sakura, it has been very nice to meet you and I'm glad you are joining our family now." Momo started the goodbye as she motioned everyone to head to their rooms.
With a small wave, Sakura also gave her goodnight, closing the door after the last person left the room. She couldn't help but have a small smile on her face, Team Sevens picture still in her hand. "Boys, I think I'm going to like it here but now it's time to get some rest. It's been a long day." Setting down the frame Sakura threw her cover over and tried to get some rest.
A/N: I was not a fan of the tiny chapters and while this still isn't the longest chapter ever I am proud of it! I've combined all my chapters so far and made some changes that make the story more understandable. Yes this is their second year and eventually, there will be some romance but I haven't thought of who yet so I'm testing the waters with different people. No BakuSaku as that's all I've seen and as much as I love it I wanted to try something else, probably not Deku either because I just don't see it happening. Any ships you're looking forward to, please let me know. If you've read my smaller chapters before I recommend you reread this one because there are some changes.
Thanks for reading - Ponies
