A/N: This is one of several incomplete snippets that I never finished. Life moves on, and while I have some bigger stories in the works, I never seem to have time to work on them anymore. I'll be posting those that are at least 2/3 complete.
"Hey," Danny nudged Tani, and gestured to the others. Engrossed in whatever animated story Grover was telling, the rest of the task force didn't notice that two of their team members weren't paying attention. "Want to see something interesting?"
"I dunno," Tani drawled. "Is it more interesting than an ice fishing mishap in Chicago?"
Danny grinned. Snapping to catch his partner's attention, he called, "Steve, where's north?"
Steve threw a hand over his shoulder. "That way," he said, without looking up.
Danny held up his compass app for Tani.
"Whoa! That's cool."
"Yeah. Man travels with a virtual compass embedded in his skull."
"Wonder if it works on all SEALs?" Tani grabbed Danny's phone with the app still open and tapped Junior on the shoulder. "Hey- which way is north?"
"Uh…" it took Junior a second longer to get his bearings. "That way," he said, pointing in the same direction as Steve.
"Ex-cuse me," Grover drawled. "Am I interrupting?"
"Grover, which way is north?" Danny tried, curious if anyone else had this mysterious 'directionality' gene.
"How the hell am I supposed to know? There's probably an app for that. I'm telling a story about ice fishing. You listening or not?"
"I'm listening, I'm listening," Danny placated. "You were on a lake. It was cold."
"Uh huh."
Danny ignored the skeptical stink-eye fixed in his direction. "See? Listening. Continue, oh great story teller."
Grover rolled his eyes.
