AN: This is written as if there has been a war between all of the major countries, leaving the world in ruins, I want to say I only own the one OC.

He thought he had seen everything, when the dragons first appeared. He was just minding his own business after killing a few unimportant monsters. He finished off the last one, watched it crumble to dust and then looked up. Out of the corner of his eye he spotted what had caught his attention, a fascinating glimmer of light, as he looked at it, it came closer and he saw more details. It was a group of five magnificent looking beasts, with reptilian scales and gorgeous, sparkling wings. they were really something to marvel at. As they approached, he noticed that they seemed to be angling towards him. Only then did he spot it, dangling from what he assumed were dragons, probably from European mythology. But hanging from the front claws of the lead was the most beautiful machine he had ever laid eyes upon.

Once they had landed he realised to his horror, that one, there was a guy sitting on top of the lead dragon and two, he recognised said person sitting on the lead dragon. And that, dear readers, would be me, forever remembered for sitting on a dragon (seriously that is all anyone remembers me for).

"Well well" I say, taking in my surroundings, the beautiful fountain and stunning views visible only from this long forgotten park. "If it isn't the infamous Mechanic."

"What are you doing here?" he asked, which I thought was weird because I knew him from reputation only and as far as I knew, I had no reputation.

I responded by saying, "I'm here to meet someone."

"Who?"

"Why is that your business, Mechanic, shouldn't you be out building stuff."

"Because, I think I'm here to meet you."

"What would make you think that."

He thought for a while before motioning me to follow him. When we were a distance away, he motioned for me to keep quiet before carrying on.

"Because I was told to come meet the dragon master."

"Oh," I said, sounding extremely dumb, but knowing my contact, he probably would have described me as that. He thinks for a moment before saying, "Since you're here now and you obviously know me, who are you?"

I thought for a moment, thinking about how to answer it best, before being interrupted by a siren wailing in the distance. "Obviously, I'm the dragon master," I said, "As I came in riding on a dragon."

"You know what I meant"

"Yes, but I'm not permitted to say more, in fear of death."

"In fear of death you say, who's going to kill you?"
"You."

And on that happy note the conversation died and he took me to his place.

He lived and worked in a small garage in East Harlem, New York. He had chosen this place because it was an inconspicuous place to oppose the government from, it's proximity to the Empire State Building and it wasn't that expensive to buy, using the limited money the 'Demigods' have. The Demigods are a non-profit organisation made to bring down the current government in charge of the country of New Haven.

New Haven was born from the ruins of the United States of America which fell apart under their 52nd president (their 7th in 5 years) and was currently trying to take over what used to be the Eastern US and Canada. Based out of New York they currently controlled from Maine to Pennsylvania and New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and the South-East of Quebec and Ontario in Canada. This made them the largest 'free country' in the world.

The free countries are the ones not under control from Kenya, Ethiopia, Albania, Nepal and French Guinea. The only old countries are Switzerland, who are still neutral and New Zealand, where no one wants to go anymore because of the radiation coming from Australia, who got completely nuked by Albania.

Anyways, the Mechanic's workshop was a mess. There were bits and pieces cluttered everywhere and an old transport thing called a 'car' in the center of the chaos. Transport is now only by foot (because the government is dumb), so trying to fix it would be illegal.

What you don't notice when you first walk in is that there is actually a secret trap door under the car that leads to a hidden 'house' above. This 'house' is a magically invisible three-storeyed house that is directly above the workshop (the logistics are trash), and the home of the Demigods.

The Mechanic led me to a small, unorthodox bedroom at the start of a long corridor.

"You can stay here, at least for tonight." He told me "Tomorrow, we have a meeting."

Before I could say anything he wished me goodnight, it was quite late, and left. As I started to ready myself for bed, I heard the door 'click' and that was it for that night.

The next morning, I woke up to a bright light seeping in through an otherwise unnoticeable window in the back corner of the room. I stood up and walked to the door, only to discover it still hadn't been unlocked. So I sat in the room, waiting for someone to come let me out. While I was waiting, I heard a group of people walk by talking in hushed tones, I crept towards the door, to try and make out some of their conversation, but all I got was garbled gibberish. I then noticed that out of the very high and very small window in my very small room, I could only see black. That was annoying as I had thought that the sun was meant to rise at 6:13 am, and I was pretty sure it was later than that. With little more to do, I sat down again, to wait.

After what seemed like an hour, the door suddenly swung open and as I looked out into the long, empty corridor, I wondered how it had opened.
