It was a cool, crisp winter afternoon in Fiore, as our resident Fire Dragon Slayer was wandering the cobblestone streets lost in thought. Today, however, wouldn't be a day where the guild realizes how much they actually hurt Natsu with their jokes.
Natsu was just entering the guild hall, when his highly enhanced ears picked up various conversations about him and his magic.
The first three comments broke his heart, but the girl of his dreams stood up for him in a way that he never saw of her before.
"I can't believe how destructive Natsu is," Jet said with a scoff.
"Who's to say he might not wreck the Christmas party tonight with his recklessness?" his best friend, Droy, added with a scowl.
"He can go join a dark guild because of how carried away he gets with his magic for all I care," Gray cut in snobbily, causing everyone but a certain Celestial mage to burst into laughter.
"Hey, SHUT UP! Cut Natsu some slack. It's not his fault because his magic was made to slay some of the most destructive creatures ever alive. He's already got his magic on a tight leash and the more riled up you guys get him, the less control he has over his magic. I love Natsu with all my heart, more than my spirits could ever care about me. Think about all of the things that Natsu has done for you guys, and you treat him like garbage. I wouldn't even be here and we all wouldn't be friends if it wasn't for Natsu. He's the love of my life and I won't stand for you all belittling him like this. And if I hear anything negative about Natsu again, I won't hesitate to sicc Aquarius and Leo on all of you. Am I understood?" Lucy questioned the guild sternly.with a white hot glare of fury and authority.
"HAI MA'AM!!" The entire guild squeaked in fright of the blonde mate's glare, even Mirajane and Erza were admitting defeat against her.
Suddenly, the sound of sobbing and sniffling caught the guild's attention as they looked towards the entrance and to their shock, Natsu was standing there with a look of shock and betrayal evident in his face.
Tears cascaded down his face and turned into puffs of steam.
"If this is how my guild really feels about me, then maybe I should've never come to Fairy Tail. I should've stayed in the forest and died of starvation. The only one I'm sorry for leaving is Lucy, the love of my life. Lucy, I heard everything and I love you with all my heart as well. But now that I know how my guild really feels about me, I need time to clear my thoughts. I'll write you letters everyday, and when I'm ready, I will return to Fairy Tail. Take this ring as a promise that I will return for you, my brave Celestial Empress," He said as he gave Lucy a golden fire ruby ring.
"Yes, of course I will marry you when you return, Natsu. I will miss you. I want you to take Aries, Gemini, Aquarius, Capricorn, Plue, Horologium, Lyra, and Crux to keep you company. If you want to, you can keep them because they mostly like to play around and I feel like you will be a better master/friend to them," Lucy said as she handed Natsu the aforementioned keys and placed the ring on her left ring finger. Natsu promised to take good care of them and left the guild hall after giving her a passionate kiss on the lips and the rest of his so-called nakama a hard glare.
"Good-bye, my love. Until we meet again," Lucy thought to herself as a lone tear slid down her face and onto the floor.
