Allo! Welcome to my Percy Jackson Fanfic! I hope you enjoy!
Chapter 1
Sleepless nights
My dream started rather happily actually... and rather weird but those were always the most entertaining so i didn't mind.
This one was about a nice jazzy worm named Germy Wormy who wore a fancy fedora and played the Sax. How he held it without hands? I have no idea but it was cool.
He played in the middle of a meadow, flowers of all kind swayed in sync with the hip music.
i was having the time of my life watching it play out until Germy suddenly stopped playing, the flowers following abruptly. Everything turned eerie and silent.. i watched as the flowers suddenly shriveled up like the lack of jazzy music drained them of all life.
i looked around suspiciously, or- at least i tried to- but my view was now glued to only look at Germy. Who was now looking somewhat shriveled himself. His fab fedora slid off his slimy head and fell to the decaying grass. The sax let out a choked sound before melting and dripping onto the fedora, spotting it with gold.
i heard my own voice echo through the dream
"Germy...? Are you switching to emo rock instead of jazz? If so... cool props dude"
I said, looking at the dead grass with a forced nod of approval.
But Germy didn't answer, instead- his pink skin now slowly fading into black until he was completely consumed by it. Smoke, all too familiar smoke started to erupt around him; circling him till it encased him in it. A dark cackle broke the silence, a cackle that i had heard before.
It was my Grandmother's
Unlike most people's grandmothers- mine doesn't feed you cookies or kisses your cheeks or gives you compliments like: i bet all the boys fall for you. No, this one could scare off the bravest of heroes, this one could interrupt jazzy concerts without hesitation.
This one- was the Most Feared goddess. Yup!
Nyx
Fun, right?
Not for me unfortunately.
The smoke expanded and rose until two giant wings sprouted from both sides of the smoke tornado
The smoke fell, transforming into a dress, colors that formed the galaxy accompanying it.
Soon, there stood the goddess of Night.
i sat there, trembling with fear, even if I was asleep- my Grandmother's presence felt alarmingly real. There was an unearthly silence until i shakily fingered gunned
"Ayy.. Hello G-Grammie... h-how... how you feeling?"
I knew it was a stupid question. Nyx probably never felt great. Or maybe she did. I've heard from somewhere she delighted in people's disappointment and problems. So maybe she was feeling pretty perky-I don't know
My grandmother didn't say anything. Just stared at me with her piercing glowing eyes.
Somewhat, it kinda filled me with some relief- maybe this was just a dream. And this wasn't my actual Grandmother invading my dreams and concerts.
But... it was still pretty unsettling. All she did was stare down at me. And let me tell you, having a 40
Foot goddess of Night stare down at you while being completely silent was not exactly fun.
I was feeling pretty uncomfortable now. Not that I wasn't used to people Ignoring me- no, no, that happened often enough. But, usually in my dreams I was shown a little bit of respect. Like, come on! This was MY head. Didn't I at least have some respect for myself deep in my conscience?
Apparently not, since my Grandma stayed silent until I decided to just flop into the dead grass and wait till she was gone. And right as my head brushed the uncomfortable dry grass, my Grammie spoke- the sudden noise causing me to scoot myself almost six feet back.
"Daughter of Hypnos, god of sleep. You are doomed to a destruction beyond your understanding"
A voice... that sounded somewhat like hers echoed out, sending painful chills down my spine.
I sat up hesitantly- looking at the goddess with an confused expression.
I raised an eyebrow
"Um... sure... thanks- wait, can you repeat that please? I think I heard something about doom but I wasn't exactly paying attention"
I said nonchalantly, unfazed for now but I was no where ready to hear those words again. To be honest , I wish I hadn't asked to have them repeated to me.
The goddess grew taller, which I didn't even know was possible. Like, I get it lady, you're tall- no need to rub it in my face.
"You! Daughter or Hypnos! Daughter of the worthless god of sleep- are DOOMED TO A DESTRUCTION BEYOND YOUR PUNY UNDERSTANDING!"
She roared, knocking me back to the withering grass.
Puny understanding? Rude! But i Honestly didn't know what more I was expecting from my Grammie.
I stared at her with an bewildered expression, the words not yet sinking in. You see, it takes me a bit longer to process things. Especially messages of doom. I rather hear- "hey, wanna go eat some pizza?" Or- "wanna buy some more books?"
But unfortunately, that's not what my grandma offered.
After the message reached my heart, it instantly panicked. Doom? Destruction? Nah thanks please. I sat up hastily again
"But... why? What did I do?"
I asked urgently- I REALLY didn't want to be doomed. It didn't sound that fun.
The goddess cackled and looked at me with an expression of uttermost cruelty and chaos.
"You will find that out yourself. The winter solstice approaches- soon you will find clues. Clues that will lead to answers"
She then smirked wickedly, making my stomach twist as my heart tried to escape my ribcage.
"And answers will lead to your fate"
I made a face.
"Then why the heck will I look go looking for clues? Especially if it leads to my doom! Look, Grammie- I know I'm not your favorite-"
Before i could finish my sentence- her voice raged, slamming my mouth shut.
"You WILL go look for the clues! And no matter what you try to do, you will never stop the fates. You will meet yours. You will sacrifice everything you hold dear. You will meet a doom you never have met before!"
She bellowed. Suddenly my view was getting fogged by thick darkness that crept around me.
I was honestly, freaking out now. I gulped and then tried to make myself look innocent and helpless. Trying to bring out the soft, Grandmother side- if Nyx had such a thing at all.
"Look... GG... I think you have the wrong person. I can't possible have a doom. I'm just a background kid. I'm no bother. I'm not important. I'm just... me"
I found myself trailing off. My own words started to sting. 'I'm not important' I said that to myself all the time. But now, for some weird reason. It hurt.
The goddess didn't seem to take pity on me. The act failed. Instead, she grinned her most evil grin before she began to dissolve back into black smoke that took my friend Germy away.
"Heed my words, background girl. Doom Awaits you. As soon as the new Demigods arrive... your clues will start to appear... your clock with start to tick.
You'll begin to
Run. Out. Of. Time."
And as these words slithered out of her mouth, she disappeared in a cloud of smoke and horrid laughter. Leaving me in a pit of pure panic and shock.
"Doom... run out of time..." I repeated miserably to myself and I flopped back onto the ground.
Staring Up at the sky. A dream sky. It used to have nachos and teddy bears dancing in it. But now it was empty and helpless. Just how I was beginning to feel. Well, I wasn't feeling empty. Nah, I was full of enough panic and dread to last me for months.
But.. I was feeling rather helpless. I was nothing. I wasn't like the epic Percy Jackson or Annabeth.
I wasn't cool. I was... well, daughter of someone who everyone called lazy. People looked at me and when they found out what Cabin I was in- boom. They just assumed I slept all the time. Which... wasn't too far from the truth but it still didn't feel great.
I had This dream- not like the one you sleep to see. But an actual goal-like dream. I wanted to prove to people I was more than naps and scary grandmas.
I actually read a lot and practiced with swords and other things a lot more than people know.
I want to Prove to people. I want to Show them how I could be someone like Percy, or Annabeth- or Thalia.
I was waiting for a chance to show them. I was wishing for something incredible to happen- like a quest would be dramatically given to me and i would have my chance-
A voice said something in the back of my head
"Maybe this will be your chance"
I scoffed at myself. Yeah, right, like going on a quest to find my doom would show them.
Hey guys! I'm cool too! Watch me as I heroically go out on an adventure to find my own doom. On Purpose!
Yeah, that was out of the question.
I stared at nothing until sound like crashing thunder jolted me awake
It really wasn't a fun way to wake up.
Thunder had boomed outside, and as I sat up I could see a flash of lightning out of the corner of my dull brown eyes.
I looked around to see if had woken anyone else up, but nope. Clovis and the rest were still sound asleep.
Snoring away peacefully as the Lethe water dripped from it's branch.
I sighed deeply before resting my head back onto my warm pillow- but- something was stabbing the back of my head.
Irritated since I was still freaked out by having my grandmother say I was doomed- I lifted my pillow to fluff it but my eyes caught onto something.
I tilted my head curiously as I picked up a Golden Horn
