So, you know how in Operation E.N.D. Numbuhs 2-5 get recommissioned in the end? And I just did another title drop.
Well, that meant that Numbuh 5's memories of her sister betraying the KND were restored as well. And given how close they were before the betrayal, I'm sure it was difficult for her to handle. But we know that she doesn't show very often how badly it had hurt her.
Well, here's what I think happened when those old wounds were reopened.
I don't own anything.
...
Having their memories wiped and then restored was an interesting experience.
He could still remember what he was thinking about before they got their memories back, and it felt rather weird.
He wondered if his other friends had that same experience too.
They had returned to the treehouse an hour ago, and were all watching T.V. together. Well, almost all of them.
Numbuh 5 wasn't there, she'd quietly walked away, maybe to her room. She'd been really quiet since they returned, and it worried him a little.
Numbuh 2 finally decided to get up and go check on her.
As he approached her room, he could hear a small noise that sounded almost like... crying?
No, it couldn't be. Could it?
Numbuh 2 opened the door and quietly entered, shocked at what he saw.
Numbuh 5 was lying facedown on her bed, sobbing. It was only when he saw what was in her hand that he realized why.
It was a small photo of her and Cree together from a few years ago. Before everything changed.
Numbuh 2 instinctively placed a gentle hand on her back, and she flinched.
"Wh-who-?"
"Shh, it's okay."
Numbuh 5 sniffed and looked at him as he gently rubbed her back.
"Numbuh 2?"
"Yeah?"
"I... I was just thinking about... when our memories got erased... and I remember that... I wanted to be at home... with my sister..." her voice trailed off as she started weeping again, "We... we were so close and... I'd forgotten what she did..."
"I know."
"It just... it just ain't fair! It hurts so much!"
Numbuh 2 sighed, then smiled a bit, "You still have us."
Numbuh 5 sat up and stared at him for a moment, tears still running down her face.
Then she smiled back, "Thank you."
She then wiped away her tears and got to her feet, and wrapped her arms around him.
Numbuh 2 smiled and returned the hug, "Feel better?"
"Uh huh."
"Come on," he said as they parted, taking her hand, "let's go join the others."
"Alright. But can you do Numbuh 5 a favor?"
"Sure."
"Please don't tell them about this."
Numbuh 2 grinned as he and Numbuh 5 left the room, "I promise."
...
I know I'm making Abby a bit out of character, but I can't help it. I don't know why I like having strong characters show vulnerability sometimes. Maybe I just like relating to them.
Please don't flame
