A/N: I only own the OC

This was a request for Melissa... enjoy it!

I looked out the shop window as the rain came down in Winter Park... it was going to be another slow morning. I was ready for sunny days again, but they were getting few and far between lately, but that fall in Florida. I miss the days when it would just rain in the afternoon, and not all day like now. I sighed as I watched another drenched jogger run past and people drive past with sad expressions... tourist assumed it was always sunny in Florida. My open sign had been on for a few hours and I hadn't even had any customers yet. I had been warned that it could be hard to open a business here, but I wanted to try. I had a successful bakery in Tampa, and wanted to move closer to my family, so here I was... a few minutes north of Orlando. My dad had chosen to retire here, and it was a cute small town right outside of a big town. I had sold my house in Tampa, and found a nicer one here. I wasn't sure that I could afford it, but I had an amazing realtor. I had finished my coffee, and went to put it in the sink when the doorbell alerted me that someone had walked in.

"Morning." I said as I walked out to greet a drench monster of a man. I took him in and was taken back by him. He was tan, had longer black hair, a black goatee/ mustache, and stood well over 6 feet tall.

"Hi." he said in a deep voice.

"What can I do for you?" I asked him and he looked at the case.

"I can't find a donut shop around her, and have kind of a big order... I hope that's ok." he said and I smiled at him.

"It's fine. I can always make more." I said and he smiled at me. He took most of my croissants, chocolate walnut cookies, fruit tarts, and some macaroons.

"Thanks for letting me take all this." he said and I smiled at him.

"It's not a problem." I said as he paid.

"I'm Roman." he said as he grabbed his boxes.

"Mary." I said and he smiled at me.

"I will be back." he said and I held the door as he left. I was glad that he had wiped my case in one swoop, and it meant that I made my sales for the day. I went back in the kitchen and worked as I had a few more customers for the day. I was finishing up around 2 pm and had just locked the door when someone came up.

"Mary, are you closing?" the man asked me and I looked up to see the man from earlier, Roman.

"Um, did you need something?" I asked him as I was caught off guard by him coming up to me.

"The macaroons were a hit... I was hoping to get some more." he said and I smiled at him. I wasn't about to turn down a sale after how much he bought this morning.

"Come on in." I said and fixed the alarm as I we walked back in.

"Which ones did you want?" I asked him and he bought 30 more. I was surprised, but happy. I hope that this meant more repeat business with as many as he bought.

"Thank you again." he said and caught my off guard by hugging me.

"Welcome, come back any time, and tell people about me." I said and he chuckled.

"People know about you." he said and I chuckled. as he waved before leaving. I closed up a second time and went to my Dad's for dinner. I told him about the man who bought up most of my shop today, twice, and my dad was happy to hear about it. I was talking to him when he had a knock at his door. I went to get it since Dad was still cooking the chicken. I opened the door and found myself looking at Roman... again. He was holding a box of my macaroons and looked as surprised to see me as I was to see him. I had heard Dad talking about his new neighbor, but I never imagined it was Roman. He had moved into the gated community a few weeks ago, and would come over to borrow things from my Dad. Dad had said that he was really nice, and that he always had family over.

"Hi?" I said and he chuckled. I wasn't sure if I was happy to see him, or if this was just really awkward.

"Hi, I didn't know you lived here." he said as my Dad came out of the kitchen.

"I don't... my Dad does... did you need something?" I asked him and he chuckled.

"Roman, what are you doing over here? Need to borrow more tools?" Dad asked him and Roman chuckled.

"No, sir, I was coming to give you a gift for letting me borrow them the other day." he said and handed my dad the box of macaroons. Dad chuckled as he took them.

"Thank you, she never brings any home anymore." he said and I chuckled as I shook my head.

"You're welcome. I was going to tell you about this amazing bakery I found, but I see you have heard of it." he said as he looked at me.

"I might have. Have you eaten dinner?" my Dad asked Roman and he shook his head no.

"No, but I don't want to intrude." he said.

"It's ok, we have plenty." I said and I saw my Dad smile out of the corner of his eye.

"Um, yeah, but let me go get something to contribute." he said and my dad waved it off.

"You brought desert." he said to him with a chuckled. I shut the door behind them as Roman followed my Dad into the kitchen. I could never have imagined seeing this guy 3 times in one day... I guess that fate was trying to tell me something.
