So this is a story that has been going around in my mind for quite sometime now. It is essentially an alternate universe in which every single character got a new power/character trait/interest. Each character will tell their own story and thus these chapters won't be in chronological order. Some of the additional attributes are very serious and have a major impact on the plot or character development while others are more for fun.
The first story will be Sasuke's, then Naruto's, then Sakura's, then Kakashi's, from then on I'll see who I want to write.
Also I don't know how to write training scenes (as in taijutsu). If it's incorrect please chalk it up to being not our universe or people being assholes. Also in this chapter there is a mention of a previous anxiety attack. Nothing is shown though.
I don't have a beta either...
Age 5
Jealousy isn't a new experience for Sasuke. Everyone he knows is better than him. Itachi is the greatest prodigy in the clan in a century, Shisui can get everyone to listen to him without effort. His father can lead the clan without objections. And his mother can make better tomato soup than him. While he can do nothing. He knows that this iss the reason he is always brushed aside. How he wishes his parents would spent a day being with him and complement him for what he does well. He might not be the best, but that doesn't mean he isn't good.
Today would start his taijutsu training but instead of his parents teaching, like they did his brother, it is one of the other members of the clan. Sure, the man is one of the best, but it would have been better if it is someone he knows. He has only met the man once in passing and Sasuke knows he is full of himself, like most people in the clan. If Sasuke didn't hear the stories of how he saved a noble child from a pack of wild wolves with their fighting style Sasuke wouldn't have wanted to start learning.
This morning, Sasuke's father announced that his training will start today after school. So, once school was over he quickly went home and went to the family dojo. While most of the clan would have to make use of the public clan dojo, Sasuke is part of the main family and thus they have their own dojo.
When he arrives in the dojo his teacher, Uchiha Wataru, was already waiting for him. While the man was a pure blooded Uchiha he did stand out in the lot of them. His hair is a few shades lighter that the brown than what is most common in their clan. He also has a face that is slightly rounder than that is often seen. He also prefers to wear his long hair in an up-do unlike most of the people with long hair.
'At least you're on time,' he says with a scowl on his face. Sasuke glares at the man. What is that supposed to mean? The man then begins with a theoretical explanation of the style and Sasuke makes sure to listen. He talks about how the movements are quick, precise, and fluid. And then he begins rambling on how their style is better than the Hyuuga's. Their style is also quick and precise but instead of it being fluid and hypnotic, it is more jagged and focused on attacking the insides. Sasuke can't see how that makes their style superior but he goes along with it to not piss of his teacher.
After his rant is done they started going through the stances. It isn't too difficult. The first one is pretty easy. His teacher makes sure he stands correctly. The most difficult part to control is his ankles.
'If you don't put them down the right way you're going to end up injured.' His teacher would say and Sasuke would try to correct his stance. But it is obvious he isn't used to it as he goes back to the wrong position a good amount of times. Sensei keeps correcting him and eventually it starts feeling a little more natural. Sasuke knows that the next day he would feel some pain in his ankles but if it could prevent future injury Sasuke would take the pain.
When his teacher finally finds his first stance good enough they added some movement to it. Sasuke has to learn the different movements he could make for different attacks he would use or avoid. He can go down, jump up, quickly dash to the left or right. Knowing the movements, he can do and how to do them is one of the basics and something he had to get down before they can move on to the more difficult parts.
'I'm going to yell a direction and you're going to move that way. After doing that you're to revert to the starting position and I'll yell another direction. The faster the better,' Sensei says and Sasuke nods and quickly takes position.
'UP!' and Sasuke goes up, 'LEFT!' and Sasuke goes left, 'RIGHT!' when Sasuke tries to go right he trips over his feet and falls down. His ankle is hurting as was his bum.
'You misplaced your feet again. Stand up and we'll try again.' Sasuke gets on his feet again and notices that his ankle didn't hurt as much as it did when he fell down. He can continue. He takes position again.
'Right!' Sasuke goes right, 'up!' Sasuke goes up, 'down!' and Sasuke goes down. They continue like this for a little bit. Sasuke knows he is getting better. Since the mistake he made before he didn't mess up once. His teacher seems pretty happy with Sasuke's progress as there is a little smile on his face.
'It seems you have some talent after all.' The man says offhandedly. At this Sasuke can feel a rush of tingles around his heart. Maybe he can match up to Itachi someday.
'Thank you, Sensei.' Sasuke bows and the man gives a slow nod. He then dismisses the boy. And just as Sasuke is about to leave the room he hears a voice.
'Just you wait, this brat's gonna be great.' Sasuke takes a good look around the room but he can't see anyone that could've said it. It most certainly wasn't his teacher's voice.
'What's wrong?' the man asks.
'Oh, it must have been a ghost then.' Sasuke murmurs but he was certain the man had heard. Not that the man let that show. It is pretty common for Uchiha's to catch glimpses and even hear ghosts. Some with extraordinary talents will even become psychics.
'Good day sir!' Sasuke says for the last time and then he leaves.
The walk back to his home isn't terribly long but it is still quite far because as father put it, it is annoying to hear grunts of work when you're eating dinner. Sasuke can't help but notice that there are very few people walking around the compound. Most of the active ninja in the clan have put on their work clothes and the police force is assembling in front of the main temple. He sees his father commanding the people but can't hear what he is saying, but one thing he knows for sure. Father won't be at dinner. He then continues his journey home. As soon as he arrives at the front door he sees his brother leaving.
'Nii-san? Where are you going?' His brother looks up at him and smiles, but it doesn't feel right. His brother is in complete uniform and has his food in his hands. Looks like it is an emergency. Then he pokes Sasuke's forehead and tells him.
'Sorry, something came up and all ninja have to assemble,' he doesn't say anymore as he disappears in an instant.
'So much for telling him the good news.' But Sasuke knows his brother had no say in the matter. His brother is already a chunin and in an emergency situation he has to be available. 'Well at least mom should be around.' His mother is currently the only one in his family that isn't currently enlisted in the ninja corps, apparently not long after Sasuke had been born she suffered a bad anxiety attack and had to be taken off duty. She has gotten better but every now and then she would still suffer attacks. Sasuke does what every child would do and will comfort her until she feels better. But they do scare him…
He opens the door and he sees his mother appear from the living room and she smiles. Again, it is a fake one, the twitching of her hands tells him as much.
'It seems that there is an emergency.' It seems his suspicions are confirmed. Something big is happening. Then suddenly he feels a wave of dark energy. But just as soon as it appeared it is gone. He decided to ignore it.
'But I got good news mom?' he says smiling. She is clearly worried, and he wants to cheer her up. He knows that father and Itachi go on missions quite often, but he knows today is a little different.
'Teacher said I had some talent in our fighting style.' He then goes on to explain what else happened. But no matter what he says his mother doesn't pay much attention. 'Mom?'
'That's great sweetie let's get ready for bed now.' Sasuke quickly finishes his dinner and follows his mother. It isn't that late, and he still has to do his homework. Maybe he can do it tomorrow morning?
'I got it mom,'
The next day is strange. The academy feels unusually empty. Several of the teachers are missing, as are Naruto and the pink haired girl. It probably has to with what happened yesterday but since Sasuke doesn't know what happened he can't draw a definite conclusion. Both Itachi and his father didn't want to talk about it. He didn't even get to talk about how well his training went. He was long asleep before they were even back home. Luckily, he has training today as well and maybe today he could impress his family with his skills.
When school was over he once again got to the dojo but this time his teacher isn't there yet. So, he decides to do some warm-up stretches. Once his teacher arrives he almost looks proud at Sasuke. Sasuke takes a good look at the man and concludes that he had a bad day. His shirt is on the wrong way and also, his hair sticks out in multiple directions. Sasuke is glad he didn't get the spiky hair gene.
'Great that you started already, now we can get started on using what you learned yesterday in a battle. We'll go through the situations slowly so it's easier to adjust,' Sasuke nods at this and he takes his first position, of course making sure to put his feet down correctly.
'First I'll go for your right side, try your best to dodge it,' and the man goes for him. It's a lot faster than Sasuke thought it would be, it certainly is faster than the students and the teachers at the academy, but if this is slow for the man he would have to adjust. Right before the man hit him he moves away and barely manages to dodge the first hit.
'Again, but this time react faster,' the man roars at him.
'Yes sir!' he screams back, and he gets ready again. The man goes for him again and again until Sasuke's reaction time is good enough for him.
'Great, now I want to you to hit me. Don't worry about hurting me.' Sasuke takes position again and goes for the man. The man blocks Sasuke's punch with ease. 'Focus on my weak points and go again.' Sasuke does it again, this time reaching for the man's stomach, again he was blocks with ease. Since Sasuke is still relatively new to fighting it isn't that big of a problem, luckily.
'Again!' the man says. Sasuke notices that he was much more irritable today than yesterday. Sasuke nods and readies himself again. He thinks about what he was told about the style. Quick, precise, and fluid. He relaxes his mind and focuses on his enemy, so he can hit correctly. He goes through the motion in his head before he attacks the man. He thinks about how his teacher will move to block and how he can catch the man of guard.
Then everything changes. He goes for the hit but instead of Sasuke controlling his own movements, it's more like he is controlling the entire situation. He moves exactly like how he has imagined and then the teacher moves exactly like how he wants him to move. Then he hit, and the man falls down. He looks at Sasuke with wide eyes. His mouth opens slightly, and his hands are twitching.
'Did I do something wrong?' Sasuke asks. The man hasn't moved since he fell and Sasuke getting worried. Wataru tries to say something but Sasuke can't understand it. 'Sorry I don't understand.' Sasuke quickly adds. He doesn't want to seem rude. Then the man goes quiet, calmly composes himself, gets up and stands directly in front of Sasuke. Sasuke feels the inescapable need to look his superior in the eye. Even if it is ill advised against Uchiha.
'What did you do?' Sasuke has to take a moment to think. He did what he was told to do. The rest just came. It is strange but it felt right.
'I don't understand sir,' he decides to say. The man sighs and wanders around the room for a little bit. He then motions for Sasuke to sit on the ground. He goes into the other room and comes back with two cups of tea. Then he explains.
'Most people in the Uchiha clan can't master the fighting style, you're the first one that had the potential since Obito. Although considering his talents it would be better to say since Madara.' The man begins.
'But Nii-san and Tou-san mastered it right?' Sasuke protests. His brother is the best and can do everything. While he wants to be better than his brother he can't handle his family being insulted.
'No, they didn't. They mastered the moves but not the style.' The man sees Sasuke's face morph in surprise and decides to elaborate. 'The Uchiha fighting style is so difficult to master since it is supposed to hypnotize the enemy. It is said that it requires a certain mindset. You need to control the movements of your enemy instead of your own. Which is exactly what you did.'
'I understand,' he says but he does not really understand it. After all it came pretty natural to him. Not only that it felt more like he controlled the both of them from the outside.
'Could you explain to me how you did it?' Sasuke thinks for a little bit. He can't explain it since it is more of a feeling rather than something he actively sought out, but he can try.
'I kept in mind what you told me yesterday. I visualized what I wanted to happen in my head and then when I attacked it really happened. I don't know how to explain it.' Sasuke sees his teacher relax and think for a minute.
'That's fine, let's try it again. And try to enter that mind space again.'
'Yes sir!' but this time Sasuke is smiling. He finally can be better than his brother at something.
That night when Sasuke arrives home he's extremely tired. Since that initial moment he was able to achieve the same results twice, but his teacher said that proficiency came with time and practice.
To the boy's surprise his father is waiting for him at the door. His arms are crossed, and his eyes focused on Sasuke. He sees his father look him over before he mutters something to himself.
'I heard what happened during training,' he starts. Sasuke looks down, is his father disappointed? He was sure he would be happy. 'I want you to explain how you did it.' Sasuke nods and follows his father inside and then takes his spot at the dining table. His mother and brother are there as well. The both of them seem interested in the events of the afternoon. Sasuke can only speculate how the news had traveled so fast. Then his father gave him the signal to explain.
'Well we were just practicing simple kicks and punches. And then one time when I imagined what would happen it really started happening.' He explains. His family looks at him. Even his brother looks impressed. 'It was kind of like I was a puppet master controlling two puppets in a dance.'
'That's impressive.' His father says. Sasuke can't decide if it was positive by his father's posture. He still sits the same way and he still looks bothered by something, but it is still the first time he has ever been complemented by his father, so he will take it as it is. 'It seems that the style hasn't been lost.' His father lets a small smile show at that.
'What do you mean father?' Itachi asks. Sasuke thought that his brother knows about the style, since he always seems to know everything.
'It was a common rumor among the elders that the style died with Madara, his last descendant be damned.' Upon being met with confused faces he explains further, 'Itachi when you were younger Obito visited often, didn't he?'
'Yes father, he was my main babysitter, until you know.' Sasuke sees his mother look down in the corner of his eyes.
'When it his talents were revealed we were very excited. We didn't expect him to use them to learn the traditional Uchiha fighting style. We were even more surprised when it actually had an effect.'
'Was it really that surprising?' Itachi asks again. Sasuke could be imagining it but it seems that Itachi is taking mental notes.
'Yes, it is. Madara's family line had been the main family line for centuries. 90% of the people that had mastered the fighting style were from this family line. So, when a boy whom we all thought was a distant relative from the main line showed the talent it shocked everyone.'
'I suppose…' Itachi mutters.
'Naturally we decided to trace back the boy's heritage and it then was revealed that he was the grandson of Madara's bastard child.'
'That must have been a shock.' Sasuke adds to the conversation. He doesn't really understand all this blood relation stuff but he knows it's important.
'It was. We always thought it to be a genetic trait that only showed every 30 to 40 years. But with the reveal of Sasuke's talent it seems not.' Sasuke sees his father smiling an actual smile. It partly pleases him, but it also freaks him out a little bit.
'That's great isn't it.' Sasuke smiles. He never sees his father so happy. His mother is also smiling, it probably is because they were having a proper family dinner but seeing his mother happy is everything little Sasuke can ask for. He takes a look at Itachi but instead of seeing his brother being happy like his parents, it was put on permanent neutral. Sasuke steals another look and can see his brother clench his teeth. Why isn't his brother happy?
The next day Sasuke has to go back to school. Both of his parents brought him today. Itachi had to leave early for some morning training or something. His father had been extremely proud of him the previous day and pushed him to continue training today. His mother however asked for him to give Sasuke a short break. He still has to socialize with his friends after all. Sasuke wonders if his mother knows that he doesn't have friends.
This day both Naruto and the pink haired girl returned back to class. Naruto seems pretty normal but every now and then he will glance at the teacher. Is he expecting something? Sakura however came back with a giant band aid on her cheek. She also isn't looking at him every 5 minutes. It's a big improvement in Sasuke's opinion.
The lesson isn't anything special. Something about the civilian uprising in Kumo years ago. How the civilians stopped working until they got the appropriate rights. It isn't a topic that peeks his interest. He doesn't want to go into politics. His brother is heir, not him, he prefers to stay out of the spotlight. It gives him more freedom. Naruto seems pretty interested though, but that is to be expected. He wants to be Hokage after all and that is the most political position in the village.
The day isn't all too interesting, it only starts to get better when break time starts. One of his senpai looks at him. He stands behind one of the trees and every now and then Sasuke sees him trying to approach him, only to be seemingly scared away and hide behind the tree again. Then he can see a Hyuuga boy approach the other boy. They talk for a little bit. Sasuke can see the resemblance between the Hyuuga boy and Hinata in his class. A surprised scream filled the area for a second and Sasuke can see that it was the girl that always talks to the ghosts, not that Sasuke can see them. But he is an Uchiha and can sense the souls. Nothing seems amiss and thus he continues eating. Then the scared boy from earlier appears in front of him.
'Please teach me how to fight?' the boy screams as he bows. Sasuke takes a good look at him and finds that his most notable feature is most certainly his giant eyebrows. He also notes that he is genuinely scared.
'Why?' Sasuke responds. It is extremely random. While it is known that he is pretty talented and on top of his class, he knows that in the boy's year there is an even better prodigy. Sasuke doesn't know who it is but the rumor goes that the boy is born with all the knowledge to get through the academy but chooses not to, just so he can make friends.
'The people in the village are all talking about your amazing taijutsu skills, I was hoping you could give me some hints.' Sasuke has to take that in. How are his skills already revealed? Who revealed them? He also has to think about whether or not to accept. Sasuke only started training two days ago. He barely knows anything and the things he did know are Uchiha exclusives, he can't teach them to some random boy.
'I can't teach you the clan style, but you could be my sparring buddy.' Sasuke watches the boy think. His bottom lip shakes but his eyes are determined.
'Okay I'll see you after school!' He almost robotically turns around and runs away.
'Wait!' The boy looks back for a second. 'What's your name?' Sasuke asks.
'Rock Lee and you better remember it.' He gives a mock salute and runs off for real this time. Sasuke thinks for a moment and decides that this meeting is certainly a good thing. Does this mean he has his first friend?
'Well he certainly was a type.' Sasuke looks around for who said that. It is the pink haired girl, Sakura, he remembers. She has apparently walked up to him and decided that it was a good idea to interrupt his thoughts. She sits down next to him, she doesn't seem to fawn over him so, as long as she won't start screaming he will let her be.
She doesn't seem happy with his silence as she pokes him in his side. 'Why don't you respond when I'm talking to you?' When he still doesn't respond she pinches him harder.
'Sheesh what's your problem.' Sasuke stares her down, at least that is what he is trying to do. She doesn't seem to notice.
'Well you didn't seem to mind being that weird guys sparring partner, so I was wondering if you would be my study partner?' She says almost too sweet as she smiles the creepiest smile Sasuke has ever seen.
'No!' Sasuke says firmly. He knows she is smart, but this seriously creeps him out.
'Oh really, I-I was hoping you would b-be nicer to me…' she cries before she starts to wail. Sasuke obviously not keen on the idea of attracting attention has to appease her demands.
'Fine, fine just stop crying.' And he pats her head. She raises her head and gives him another creepy smile.
'Thank you so much. You're so nice!' Sasuke can only blush at that. A bit of extra studying can't be too bad. 'We'll start tomorrow.' She says, and she then disappeared. What has he gotten himself into.
Hope you enjoyed the first chapter! Please tell me if something is rude/offensive/wrong. Don't forget to review.
