Disclaimer: I do not own Free Willy
"My father is who?"
Jessie couldn't believe her ears and she wanted Dwight to repeat himself. "My father is alive and he's been here all along?"
Dwight took a deep breath and rubbed Jessie's shoulders reassuringly. "You're father is Mr. Dial. You're boss."
There were two sides to what Jessie was feeling right at the moment and she didn't know which one to embrace. The fact that Dial was her father and he hated Willy or the fact that the whale in that tank was her's technically. She didn't know what to feel and she was starting to feel panicky. She looked over at Glenn and Annie and observed them for a minute. They looked about as shocked as she was.
She didn't want to leave them, but she might have to if Dial decides that he wants her. Would that be so bad though? Having to live with her real dad. It was something she had wanted all her life. To find her dad and not just her mom. Sometimes she pictured them all together as a happy family, but Jessie didn't know what to think now.
"Okay so...What's going to happen to me?" she asked as she looked back and forth between her foster parents and Dwight.
Her social worker turned to her now. "He wants you Jessie. He wants his daughter."
This shocked Jessie. It shocked her that the man who was usually so cold wanted her. And now she was worried about what Randolph and Rae might think. Her friends may hate her now and she would be all alone. She didn't want that to happen. She got up now and looked at the three of them. She needed to explain this to the two of them before it got out officially.
"Can I go? There is something I have to do."
Before Dwight or her foster parents could say anything, the teenager was out the door.
Jessie rode her bike right to the park and right up to Randolph's cabin. They had been acting a bit weird around eachother for awhile now and Jessie was sure she was in love with him. But she decided she wouldn't tell him until she got this whole thing with her dad straightened out. She didn't know if Randolph would even have feelings for her then. And it sucked to think about him not liking her anymore.
"Randolph are you here?' she called out to her friend as she walked into his house. She walked right up to the orca carving and held in gently in her hands. It reminded her of Willy and how special he was to her. He was her's and she was going to do everything possible to make sure he was taken care of now.
"There you are" she heard a familiar voice from behind her and she couldn't help but smile and turn around. "Hey!"
He smiled and walked closer to her. Closer than normal and it made it hard to tell him about the news she just got. Randolph took her hand gently in his and pulled her over to the couch, sitting them both down. "So what brings you here?"
Jessie looked down at their intertwined hands and back up at Randolph. Her nerves were acting up and she wasn't so sure that she wanted to tell him so soon, but her mouth had other ideas.
"Mr. Dial is my father" she said in a very quick way and that's when she started crying. Randolph was shocked now as he pulled her into his arms, letting her cry into his chest.
"I still can't believe it" she said softly into his neck as she moved closer to him for comfort. He rubbed her back gently and took one of her hands in his.
"I'll understand if you choose to hate me" she said softly, nuzzling him gently.
They looked as though they were lovers when they hadn't even told eachother how they felt yet.
"I could never hate you Jessie" Randolph said softly, tilting her chin so that her eyes met his. "As a matter of fact I love you." And for the second time that day, Jessie was speechless.
"I love you too" she whispered softly, her nose touching his gently. There were so close and Jessie had an overwhelming urge to kiss the man. But Randolph beat her to it, placing his lips on her's as he pulled her into his lap.
"How long?" she asked softly as she pulled back and gazed into his eyes, her fingers ghosting over his cheek.
"Since the day you came to work here" he said as he pulled her in for another quick kiss.
Jessie smiled against Randolph's lips and wrapped her arms around his neck. Maybe things weren't going to be so bad after all.
