Mordecai and his friend Rigby drove the golf cart to the park. They had just spent their lunch break at Wing Kingdom but they still hadn't forgotten the spicy and tangy taste of these wings. Some of that dark-orange sauce were stuck near their mouths. The temperature was average while no clouds flew through the blue sky. Mordecai started to make a hip hop beat.

"I went to lunch and got some wings. Tasty as heck, so very spicy." he started rapping.

"I can't wait to get back to huose, so I can play Fire Emblem on my couch." added Rigby. His friend sighed at Rigby's lyrics.

"Really Rigby, were supposed to go back to work."

"More Path of Radiance, less work, but enough to not get us fired. I'm already at chapter nineteen."

"Dude, I'm surprised that you made it out without any help. You suck at video games." spoke Mordecai. The two arrived at the blue house when they noticed a man and a woman lying on the porch. "Hey, why are there people in the porch?" asked Mordecai. Rigby scanned the two, which reminded him of that Fire Emblem game he had been playing on the Gamecube. Both of the humans had long blonde hair stretched to thier knees, eyes that were the color of emerald and jade, and white angelic wings. The man wore a jacket with a silver lining with black pants; the woman had on a long dress with a golden belt. Both of their clothing was completely white and their skin was pale. When Rigby realized who these people were, he went motionless. Mordecai parked the car and slapped him in the gut.

"Ow, no punchies." whined Rigby. Mordecai was livid and suspicious about what is happening. He gave his friend a mean look and he ceased complaining.

"Where did you get that Gamecube?!" he interrogated. Rigby was hesitant to answer so Mordecai punched him again. "If you don't, then we will get fired!" Rigby didn't want to tell him the truth of what how he had brought that gaming console. Eventually, do to a lot of pressure, he decided to tell the truth.

"Uh... I got it from some wizard." he said.

"You mean you stole it from a wizard. You remember what happened with that keyboard incident, right." he corrected.

"No, no, that wizard sold this to me for just three bucks. He did warn me about unusual occurrences, but I thought that he was just being crazy." explained Rigby. Mordecai grunted and left the golf cart. He marched up the wooden stairs to investigate the unconscious humans alone. They were pale-skinned humans, but what else he saw surprised him. There were a couple trails of white feathers mixed with drops of blood and blond hair strings. He followed the pathways which led to the television. It was off but the Gamecube was glowing. The blue jay pressed the power button several times, but nothing happened. Mad about this, he went back to the porch to tell his friend what was happening. Rigby was at the porch, staring at the bodies of these humans.

"How did Reyson and Leanne end up here?" he asked himself quietly. Rigby heard footsteps and noticed that it was Mordecai that was exiting the porch.

"Rigby, that Gamecube is relentlessly glowing." he called. Rigby didn't respond to Mordecai but instead slowly started dragging the man to the house. Mordecai was disgusted by that action.

"Rigby! Stop being a creep and call 911!" he commanded. Rigby ignored him so he rushed into the kitchen and tried to call the emergency services. However, he heard coughing and ran to see what was happening. The man was starting to wake up from his short coma. His eyes started to widen and he saw that raccon who was with him. The unfamiliar environment and that raccoon terrified him. He had a massive panic attack but Rigby was able to calm him down before he could destroy the living room. He laid the man on the white couch and his breathing started to slow down.

"Where am I you foul rodent?" he asked. Rigby was offended by that remark but he didn't gave an angry grimace to him.

Instead he smiled and called, "Hello Reyson." Reyson was shocked that an actual animal, not a laguz, knew his name. The panic in his blood started to rise as Rigby held his arms. Mordecai noticed what his friend was doing, pushed him off, and did the same. He was taller, smarter (despite being a slacker), and strong than Rigby. Eventually, Reyson calmed down.

"Alright, I have a few questions. First, where the hell did you come from?" interrogated Mordecai.

"Dude, he's from a land called Tellius. Most of his people got slaughtered worse than livestock." informed Rigby, who was lying on the carpet floor.

"It's true, there were only a few survivors including me and my sister." verified Reyson as he coughed, "I had developed a grudge on beroc ever since, well until I joined the fight against the king of Daein." Reyson coughed for some more as Rigby rushed to take the woman into the house. Muscle Man and High Five Ghost were holding the unconscious maiden.

"An angel, I thought that they're mythical." remarked High Five Ghost.

"I'm going to take her to the zoo." said Muscle Man, "You know who else take humanoids to the zoo? My Mom!" Both of them chuckled but their laughter ceased with a furious Rigby behind them.

"Muscle Man! Me and Rigby are taking the lady!" he yelled. Mordecai and Reyson walked outside to see what was going wrong. Reyson couldn't believe his eyes, his sister Leanne were being kidnapped by a overweight man. As a result, he hesitantly decided to attack Muscle Man. A shining light ate him and he turned into a white heron. Mordecai, Rigby, and High Five Ghost stood motionless with their eyes and mouths widened. Reyson zipped towards Muscle Man and grabbed him. The man dropped Leanne to the ground and started squealing like a pig.

"Did that man turn into a bird?!" yelled Mordecai.

"Just like in the game, but he doesn't attack like that." answered Rigby. Rigby ran to take Leanne to the house as Reyson kept attacking Muscle Man. High Five Ghost tried to break up the fight but he got pounded by the bird. Mordecai began to do the same.

"Dude! We prevent Reyson from killing him!" he told Rigby.

"You do it! I'm taking her home!" said Rigby. He dragged the woman up the stairs but before he could take her into the house, Benson was at the door. He was super furious. His gumballs turned red, his frown was wide, and his eyebrows nearly touched each other as they tilted to fit his current mood.

"STOP THIS RIGHT NOW! STOP IT!" he commanded boisterously. The five, including Reyson, stopped what they were doing and faced Benson. He took deep and angry breaths. "I DON'T WANT YOU FIGHTING OVER SOME STUPID BIRDS! NOW GET BACK TO WORK OR YOUR FIRED!" he continued. Mordecai, Rigby, Muscle Man and High Five Ghost obeyed him as Reyson flew away; however, Benson chased him. "HEY! GET OVER HERE YOU ANGELIC BEAST!" Reyson flapped his wings faster before he crashed at a tree. When he fell, the angry gumball machine started kicking him, but he was stopped by Mordecai and Rigby.

"Benson, stop!" they yelled. Benson gave his angry look at the two.

"Did you summon this monster into this park?!" he inquired. Mordecai and Rigby nodded and their boss calmed down a little. "Well, I could've just sent them to the zoo, but you two claimed that you brought them in this world. So take care of these angels or else YOU'RE FIRED!" he commanded as he marched back into the house. Mordecai and Rigby picked up Reyson and helped him walk.

"Sorry Reyson, that's our boss, Benson. He gets angry whenever he see us do something stupid." apologized Rigby.

"I'm fine fellow laguz, but what does 'boss' mean?" asked Reyson.

"It means he oversees what we are doing in our job. Also, we don't know what laguz is." explained Mordecai.

"Laguz are humans that can shapeshift into animals. Humans that cannot do that are called beroc. We are neither, but we can speak." informed Rigby.

"Thank you, sir raccoon." acknowledged Reyson.

"Actually, my name is Rigby and this is my best friend, Mordecai." introduced Rigby.

"Mordecai, you remind me of a..." Reyson gasped at what he saw. Leanne was waking up while Muscle Man and High Five Ghost had already left. She slowly blinked before seeing Reyson's face. She softly spoke in a language that only Reyson can understand; he started to speak in that same language. As they had their conversation, Mordecai tried to comprehend what they were saying. However, Rigby covered his friends mouth with his hand.

"This is the ancient language, we can't really translate it alone." he explained. The woman stood up as they continued talking. After a while, the two heron laguz entered the house and Mordecai and Rigby quickly followed them.

"Is that your sister?" Mordecai asked Reyson.

"Leanne here is my sister, but she is unable speak the human tounge." the man responded.

"Maybe Mordecai can teach her." suggested Rigby. Mordecai was ready to complain, but realized that Rigby was less smarter than him. Nevertheless, he decided to get help on teaching Leanne English. Reyson reluctantly accepted Rigby's offer and placed her on the couch. She scarily looked around the living room, with unusual appliances and furniture present. Mordecai and Rigby rushed to the garage and got the chalkboard that they used to teach a caveman once.

"This better work!" said Rigby. They rolled the chalkboard and blocked the house's only TV. Mordecai grabbed some chalk and started drawing the English letters on the board, from A to Z. One by one, he taught each letter to Leanne, but she barely understood. He tried multiple times, but it had the same result. Reyson got bored by this teaching. He had learned to speak, read, and write the human language (English) but it had took him a long time, perhaps months for him to fully understand. He decided to explore the house and entered the kitchen. Its walls were painted a light tone of red, its floor was wooden, and many drawers lived on the opposite wall. Reyson opened what looked like a white chest. The cold air hit him and he ran off. Two minutes later, he had the courage to use it again, but this time, he blindly grabbed a small red can. It had white words saying: PARTY COLA.

"What is that... thing?" he asked himself. It took Reyson a while to open the can and when he finally did, a sticky liquid erupt out and landed in his white clothes. He started to panic and searched for a place to wash his clothes while grabbing the soda can. Rigby entered the kitchen, noticed the stains on his clothes, and started laughing.

"Oh Reyson, it's drinkable soda." he explained. Reyson slowly sipped the soda. To him, it was the wildest thing he had ever drank and he wanted more He went inside the cold fridge and looked for more cans of that soda; there were a dozen cans left. Reyson grabbed another can, opened it, and quickly chugged the entire soda. "Wow, you really like soda." acknowledged Rigby, who got a soda.

"This drink is very satisfying and wild. More than wine alone." confirmed Reyson. "How do you even make these things?"

"In factories, I guess."

"What are factories?"

"Well, factories are places where beroc produce items we use." defined Rigby. Mordecai stomped in the kitchen with an annoyed mood.

"Argh! I can't even teach her proper English!" he complained. "Reyson, why don't you teach her?"

"Well, I could, but I am really hesitant on doing that. I fear that she might forget about the ancient language." refused Reyson. Mordecai loudly groaned and sat down on a chair.

"Come on Mordecai, it's just the first day. It took us less than a week to civilize a caveman." reminded Rigby with optimism.

"Yeah, you're right." said Mordecai.

"Hey, why don't you teach us about your life." insisted Reyson. The two friends agreed and began to retry, only to hear singing from the room.

"Rigby, since you know that game very will, what is she saying?" asked Mordecai.

"Uh, some song that the herons would sing." answered Rigby lazily.

"That is the Galdrar of Rebirth. We used it to renew the Serenes Forest." added Reyson. When they got back to the living room, they saw Leanne singing along with a man with light-pink skin, a large head, and a whit mustache. He wore a small black hat, a dark grey vest, a white dress shirt, gray pants, and grey shoes. He was happy, as usual, and was clapping to Leanne's singing.

"Good show! Jolly good show!" he cheered. The man gave her a lollipop but she kept on singing.

He saw Mordecai and Rigby here and told, "Look at that angel who is singing a beautiful song." he started to giggle loudly, which pleased Reyson

"Pops, that's not an angel, she is a heron laguz." sad Rigby, "That guy behind us is Reyson. She, Leanne, is his sister."

"Wonderful! Maybe they can teach us how to sing this song if we teach them about our culture." suggested Pops.

"Well, thank you for your help, beroc." thanked Reyson. Pops wasn't offended or saddened by this but instead joyfully accepted his offer. They spent the entire weekend mainly focusing on teaching Leanne English. With a lot of effort, she was able to speak full sentences of that language by the end of Sunday. Additionally, they introduced them to food like pizza and wings, rock and hip-hop music, and much more. Both of these heron laguz began to have a better understanding of the modern world.

The Monday sunrise shine on the house as Reyson woke up. He had spent most of last night partying with Mordecai, Rigby and his sister. He was wearing a white t-shirt with a black skull on the back and black jeans with holes below his knees. His long blond hair was tied in a large bun. He had overdosed by on soda and junk food and wanted to get something healthier. Both Mordecai and Rigby were still snoozing, so he had to do it himself. Reyson got off the mattress he was sleeping on and clumsily walked out of the room.

"I never thought that the beroc life can be so advanced." he remarked. He tumbled and crashed into a wall, but he continued walking. Eventually, he entered the kitchen and something got him concerned. Leanne was curling up and sleeping near the fridge, carrying an empty can of soda. She was wearing a white T-shirt with a gold "E" and blue jeans. Reyson placed his hand on her neck to check his sister's heartbeat; it was normal. Reyson sighed in relief and opened the refrigerator's door. He grabbed a half-empty jug of milk, a box of wheat cereal from the drawer, and a glass bowl. He placed these items on the table. First, he poured a lot cereal in the bowl, and then the milk. He grabbed a silver spoon from its respective drawer, sat down on a chair, and started eating slowly. The mix of grains and Mordecai and Rigby entered the kitchen.

"Good morning Rey." greeted Rigby, "I see that you are enjoying your cereal. We had that same meal on our first day at work."

"Well speaking of work, it's time that you will do tasks that Benson tell you." informed Mordecai. Reyson spit his food on the table. Mordecai got a rag and wiped the milk and cereal off the table. Rigby, however, laughed nervously.

"A normal beroc's tasks, a absolutely not. I'm the current heir of a ruined nation." objected Reyson.

"I'm sorry Rey, but if you dont, Benson will fire us." Rigby convinced Reyson. The Male heron laguz reluctantly nodded and continued eating his cereal. Mordecai crouched down near the fridge and started shaking Leanne's body. Leanne was still tired when he distributed her sleep.

"Good morning Leanne, today is your first day of work." he told her. She lazily groaned. Her personality had rapidly changed over the weekend from shy to lazy. Mordecai kept shaking her for awhile until she was fully awake. She got up and hit a wall.

"Maybe we can do this this night." she yelled.

"I'm sorry, but we have work today. We have been telling you that over the weekend." said Rigby.

Leanne punched Rigby in the face and cried, "Now! Now!" Mordecai and Reyson grabbed her arms as an attempt to keep her from hitting Rigby. Meanwhile, the raccoon was whining from that sudden beating he was given. He curled on the side before getting back up. After a few minutes, the three were able to calm her down. They escorted her to the porch where they would be waiting for their jobs of the day.

"I hope that we're not raking the leaves again." said Rigby.

"Benson better not assign us that crappy task." added Mordecai.

"No raking leaves." mumbled Leanne.

"What is wrong with raking some leaves." asked Reyson.

"It's freaking boring!" said Rigby. Leanne started to spit on the walls to escape her boredom, which worried Reyson. He silently hoped that the things that the groundskeepers are teaching her won't take a massive toll on her knowledge of her heritage. On the other hand, Mordecai and Rigby were hoping that these herons won't get them fired. Eventually, their co-workers started to get to the front stairwell. First was Muscle Man and High Five Ghost, who both gave threatening looks at the four. Then came a yeti-like gorilla wearing blue jeans tied in a belt. He was jogging in a way that was unusual to Reyson and Leanne; the latter started to view him as very handsome.

"Who is that handsome monster." she asked.

"His name is Skips, he usually does most of the heavier work." said Rigby. After Skips, Muscle Man, and High Five Ghost sat down, Benson went outside from the garage. He was carrying a polishee wodden clipboard on his right hand and a blue pen on his left. He faced his employees and began speaking

"Okay, here are today's jobs. Muscle Man and Fives will get to clean the fountain. Skips will get to fix the golf carts." he thirdly announced as the three works walked to their respective locations. He had two more chores written out in his clipboard: food court and raking the leaves. He couldn't trust Rigby to work at the food court after that incident with Rigby's body. "Alright, Rigby and Reyson will take the leaves while Mordecai and Leanne will work at food court." Rigby groaned while Mordecai laughed at him. The two pairs are formed and they parted ways.

"Make sure you keep Leanne safe!" Reyson yelled politely at Mordecai. Rigby was still mad about having to rake leaves. "Don't worry, I would prefer to do yard work like this than work in a smelly beroc bar." he joked.
