Arcanus's One-Shot Feat. Jaune Arc

The only characters I claim ownership are the ones that I have created for narrative purposes, i.e. OCs. They all belong to their respective owners, though I suggest you check out these properties to both quench your own curiosity and to support the creators. If you see any spelling, grammatical, or narrative errors please let me know. I also allow constructive criticism for it allows me to better my writing skills and to make this story better. If you have some requests please let me know and I will go over them, but don't go overboard with the requests. The pink dog
~Story Start~
Courage was cold, wet and terrified, earlier he was out with Eustace and Muriel shopping. Eustace was scaring him as usual and Muriel smacking him on the head with a rolling pin. However, he lost them when the store was heavily packed with so many people, distracted when he saw the new Chicken flavored Big Bone. Courage frantically looked for both of them, mostly Muriel, however the pink dog was kicked out of the store by one of the employees. What made it worse was that it started raining.
He wandered for hours but to no avail, he felt dread this was the same feeling he felt when he lost his parents. He found an empty box in an alley; he went in to dry out but it did nothing for the cold. The rain continued to pour. Courage shivered there for three hours whimpering, suddenly he heard footsteps. This person, or persons, made his or her way to him. Courage froze in panic and fear, this could be Katz, Le Quack, or anyone else. Suddenly a bright light came on, he froze up even more. He tried to keep quiet but failed. The steps got closer. He paled. They came closer. He pales even more. The steps keep coming closer. Closer. Closer. Closer. Courage closed his eyes shut preparing for the worst to come. Then the light shined in his face.
He opened his eyes, adjusting to the light. He expected a monster, however he saw a teenage boy around the age of 17 with blonde hair and blue eyes. The boy looked at Courage with concern. "Hey there boy. Are you okay?" he asked. The boy reached out his hand. Courage balled up. The boy retracted his hand, he then turned his hand upside down. Courage saw this, he was hesitant, but he went towards the boy. Courage felt calm as he approached the boy.
~Jaune's P.O.V.~
Jaune was just minding his own business. He went out in Vale to get food and supplies. Since Nora used the team's dust and food to create super pancakes. However, the grocery market was fully packed and the dust stores were closed for the day. To make things worse it started to rain, and he had no umbrella. It was so bad the bullheads had to be closed. So, he decided to look for a hotel for the night.
Jaune picked up the pink dog, he heard a dog whimpering earlier. Being who he was, he went to check it out and found a poor dog laying in a cardboard box wet and abandoned. He grew angry, he loved animals and would do anything to protect them, in fact he hardly ate any types of meat. Except fish and chickens, especially chickens, he hated those bastards with his life. To him why would anyone abandon such a cute little dog, albeit a pink one. He checked the tag on the dog's collar and saw a name. "Courage huh? Well then Courage how's about we look for your owners.' Jaune said. Courage smiled, he gets to see Muriel again and it's thanks to this young man. Courage closed his eyes in Jaune's arms as the two moved to a hotel.
~2 hours later~
After two hours of looking for a hotel that accepted dogs. They were kicked out of 15 hotels because they hated dogs. Pricks. Luckily, Jaune found a hotel that was runned by a kind old woman, who would allow Jaune and Courage to stay the night. He thanked the woman. He and Courage entered the room. It was not all that bad, it had a single bed, a bathroom with toilet and bathtub, a kitchen stove, counter, and sink, and a mini fridge.
To Jaune however, it was good enough. He let Courage down on the floor and put whatever stuff he had on the counter. Courage quickly dried himself. He then turned to Courage.
"Alright little guy time to give you a bath." Jaune said as he took Courage to the bathroom. Courage moans in displeasure, didn't want to but he didn't want to get sick from the cold water.
Jaune entered the bathroom with Courage behind him. Jaune kneeled against the tub turning it on, once the water was warm, he grabbed Courage and carefully put him in the tub. Courage groans but when he touches the water, he suddenly feels relaxed. Jaune poured water over Courage washing away any dirt. He then poured a dollop of soap in his hands, rubbing then together then started rubbing the soap over the dog. After a while Jaune rinsed the soap of Courage shining his pink fur. "Huh? Guess it wasn't dyed. You're a natural pink-Ette." He said to Courage.
Said dog simply ''humph"' not his fault his fur is pink. After a few minutes of rinse and repeat Jaune grabbed a towel and dried Courage off. The dog barked 'thank you' making Jaune smile. "No problem little buddy." He said. Jaune himself then went to change in his pajamas he brought with him in his pack, not his onesie though, you can thank Nora for that.
The two then went to the bed, Jaune and Courage laid on the bed. Jaune reached for the remote and turned on the T.V. the news was on. "According to weather scientists the rain will last about 2 days leading to the bullhead stations being closed and residents are advised to stay indoors." Lisa Lavender said as she went over the news. Jaune groaned in frustration while Courage moaned in displeasure. The dog worried that he might not find Muriel at all. He felt Jaune's hand on his head trying to calm him down. "It's okay Courage, we'll find your owner." Jaune reassured the dog. Courage smiled as he drifted off to sleep.
~6 hours later~
It was 4 in morning and the rain still poured hard. Eventually thunder can be heard in the background, the scene then showed Courage shaking in fear. He was having a nightmare.
~Dream world~
Courage was running from something, something horrible. He didn't know what it was but he knew he was in trouble if it caught him. Suddenly he stopped. He saw two familiar faces. It was Muriel and Eustace; they were tied up screaming. He went to save them but he couldn't move. He then saw all of the villains he defeated: Le Quack, Katz, the Big toe, and many more. Their faces held distorted grins as they approached Muriel and Eustace. Courage couldn't move and stood there helpless as they attacked the old couple.
"No!" Howled Courage as the sight was unbearable for him to see. Suddenly they all disappeared in a puff of black smoke. A dark grimly figure rose from the smoke its eyes were blood red. Its face bore a bone white mask with red markings. It was covered in black smoke and it stared at Courage pouring into his soul.
Courage was pale white, the color in his fur was all gone. He saw the creature open its mouth, full of razor-sharp teeth. It leaned forward towards the dog. Courage closed his eyes but found that he couldn't. The creature lunged and everything went dark. All Courage could do is scream.
~Real world~
Courage woke up screaming his lungs out, waking Jaune up. Jaune saw Courage cowering on the edge of the bed. He went to the dog to calm him down.
"Hey it's okay, boy. It's okay Courage, nothing bad is happening, you're fine." Jaune reassured. Courage calmed down seeing Jaune there instead of the shadow creature. Courage went up to Jaune and said, person, simply hugged him, rubbing the dog's back, shushing. "Let's go back to bed." Jaune said, causing Courage to shake his head. "NO!" The dog said. Jaune was taken aback, he was shocked to hear a dog talk. 'Well, it's not that surprising given the fact that Courage's fur is purple and he's been walking on his hind legs when we were looking for hotels to stay at earlier.' "I guess we can stay up a little bit longer." Jaune said.
The two got back on the bed and turned on the T.V., an old school noir movie was playing. The scene that was playing was the detective and the love interest at a train station. The woman had her bag packed.
Woman: "Please come with me Nick we can start over in mistral and live our lives together."
Nick: "I'm sorry darling but i can't, this case is my life I can't throw it away."
Woman: "Nick the case you're working on, with the mob, it's going to get you killed!"
Nick: "I guess this is goodbye then?"
Woman: "I guess it is, Nick."
The two stared at each other and they kissed. That scene made Courage and Jaune stick out his tongue at the kiss. The two then looked at each other and then they laughed. The next hour they watched the movie either rolling their eyes or laughing at the clichés the film had. Later on Courage fell asleep once more, this time however Jaune held Courage close and scratched his head. Making the dog have pleasant dreams for the rest of the night.
~two days later~
After two long days of horrible rain Jaune and Courage got their stuff and left the room to the checkout table. They paid the owner the amount for a two-night stay. It was early in the morning. The two walked the streets of Vale with a quick stop to the post office, so Jaune can send the stuff he bought to his dorm.
For four hours the two walked aimlessly asking around if they had seen anyone by the name of Muriel Bagge. Her name was on the back of Courage's collar. Sadly no one has heard of her. They went to the grocery market, Courage got lost at, at the park, at the drugstore, at the pet store, and finally at the shelter. They also got the same answer, 'sorry, never seen her.'
They decided to head to the police station to see if the cops had seen an elderly lady looking for her dog. While on their way there, Courage was grabbed by the neck. Courage yelped in surprise. However, Jaune didn't notice and kept walking.
"Well, hello little dog." Said a calm male voice. The voice belongs to that of a Cat Faunus. He had orange hair, cat ears sitting on top of that hair with dark purple tips. He wore Dark purple dress shirt and pants. On top of his dress shirt is an orange wool vest with purple stripes on the back. He also had black dress shoes. Courage recognized both the voice and the face of the person who grabbed him. Katz.
Courage gasped seeing his foe in front of him. He was about to scream for help but Katz choked him. Katz smiled. "Oh, you can't believe how long I've waited to have a chance to enact my revenge on you." He said. His grip on Courage's neck tightened making it hard to breath for Courage. Katz started laughing as he was about to suffocate the dog. Suddenly, a fist made contact to the left side of Katz's face, knocking him to the ground and letting Courage go.
~Jaune's P.O.V.~
"Stay the fuck away from the dog." Snarled Jaune. One moment Courage was walking beside him and next he saw the dog getting choked by a Faunus. Courage was happy to see Jaune but when Katz started getting back up, he quickly hid behind Jaune's legs. "I say boy, you shouldn't have done that." Said Katz. He glared at the boy for interfering. Jaune glared back, making Katz be taken aback. "And you shouldn't choke that dog, sir." Jaune said his eyes were filled with rage. Though if you look closer into his eyes you can see a form of protective instincts. The kind you find with animals protecting their young.
Katz ignored this as he got in front of Jaune. "Forgive me young man, it's just you found my dear dog. And I tried to discipline him for running away." Katz lied; he knew that this boy wouldn't budge. So, he tried to trick the young man into thinking that dog is his. However, Jaune saw through this and can tell that this guy hates dogs. Jaune then got an idea.
"If he is your dog, then tell me his name." Said Jaune. Katz was now nervous he had no idea what the dog's name was. "The dog's, yes, its uh i-i-its uh Spike. Yes Spike. My dog's name is Spike." Katz said. Jaune looked at him then to Courage, who was shaking his head no to him, He then looked back to Katz. Jaune simply stared at him, and then threw a punch at Katz's face. Jaune's punch hit Katz so hard that it knocked out the cat Faunus. "His name is Courage, dumbass." Jaune said as he picked up Courage and left. The pink was surprised at this but quickly smiled and waved at Katz, mocking him for his failure.
The two arrived at the police station. When they entered the station, I was packed at the receptionist desk. By the looks of the people waiting in line they were tired. Jaune and Courage groaned as they went in line. Time went by as one by one the people in the line left while Courage and Jaune were getting tired and tired and tired. After an hour and a half, Jaune and Courage fell asleep standing up. Suddenly a voice called out "next." and they didn't hear it.
"Next" the voice calls out again. No response.
"Next." said the voice. Again, no response.
'Next!' the voice yelled. Jaune and Courage were still asleep
The woman, a wolf Faunus, that was working on the receptionist desk, she replaced the last one, a sloth Faunus, a few hours ago because he was going really slow, stared at the two. Her eye twitched, she then reached under her desk and pulled out a megaphone. She stuffed her Faunus ears with corks and then yelled into the megaphone. "NEXT!"
The sound of the megaphone was enough to wake Jaune and Courage to wake up. They were frightened by being woken up so loudly. When they saw the receptionist, with a frown on her face, they sheepishly rub the back of their heads, laughing nervously. The two went to the desk.
"How may I help you?" the woman asked.
"Well uh..." he looked at the woman's name tag. "Michelle I'm looking for the owner of the dog that I currently have with me." he said. Michelle looked at Courage, who laughed as he waved at her.
"What's the owner's name?" She asked.
"Muriel Bagge." Jaune said. The receptionist typed in the name to search for anyway by that name. The computer ran for a few minutes in order to get a match. The computer made a sound, Michelle checked the screen.
"Okay, Muriel Bagge, says here that she made a report stating that their dog Courage went missing after shopping. Her husband, Eustace Bagge however tried to persuade her not, even tried to bribe a cop. She and her husband are currently staying at the Aero's dome hotel." She said. Jaune wide eyed and then he frowned, this Eustace guy was now on his shit list. Courage on the other hand wasn't surprised, it was Eustace after all.
"Well thank you ma'am." Jaune said as he and Courage left to go to the hotel. Little did they know, is that they were being followed.
~another hour later~
The sun is setting, people started going home. Jaune and Courage finally reached the hotel. As they entered, they went to the receptionist desk.
"Excuse sir can you tell me where Muriel Bagge is? I have found her dog and I'd like to return him to her." Jaune asked.
"Of course, young man, just give me one second." The man said. "Muriel Bagge is currently occupying room 314."
"Thanks." Said Jaune. The two went to the elevator, pressing the button to the third floor. The two waited for their stop, listening to the dull elevator jingle. The elevator then stopped at the third floor, the two then proceeded to get off the elevator and headed to the room.
Soon the duo was standing outside room 314. Jaune turned and knelt down to Courage, putting his hand on the dog's head. "Well buddy I guess this is it huh?" Jaune asked. Courage nodded in agreement; he was sad that he might not see Jaune ever again after this. However, he was thankful to Jaune for reuniting him with Muriel, he would never forget this moment. Jaune stood up and knocked on the door. It slowly opened and inside the room was dark save for only a lit candle lamp. Courage grew nervous. Jaune grew cautious drawing out his sword.
The duo entered the room, carefully. Courage was behind Jaune being scared as ever. The sound of a metallic *thud* caught their attention, they saw a cylinder enter their line of sight. The cylinder was revealed to be a gas grenade. Before the two could react, the grenade went off releasing knockout gas. The boy and the dog were coughing violently as the gas was knocking them out. Courage tried to hold his breath but it was futile since he passed out less than a minute. Jaune lasted longer, thanks to his aura, but eventually he collapsed to his knees. The sound of footsteps caused Jaune to look up. Jaune growled knowing who this was. Katz.
"I told you not to get in my way boy." Katz said through his gas mask. Jaune couldn't speak or move as the gas took effect and he passed out.
~sometime later~
Courage opened his eyes trying to look around his environment. He saw Jaune, covered in bruises, hanging in chains upside down across him. He tried to move to him but couldn't, he looked down to see himself tied in chains.
"Oh, no! Jaune!" Courage said. "Courage!" The pink dog looked up to Muriel and Eustace hanging from the ceiling. Eustace growled at the sight of Courage. "Get us down you stupid dog." The old man said. "Don't worry Muriel I'll save you!" Said Courage.
"I'm afraid that isn't going to happen." Katz said as he entered the room. Courage gasped seeing the cat Faunus. "You, dog, are finally going to feel my wrath. I will start by making you watch as I take your loved ones away." He said with an evil smile on his face. He pulled down a lever, causing the floor to open up revealing spiders. Katz then pulled another lever that lowered the chains that held Eustace and Muriel. The two were screaming as they were about to be eaten alive. The screams woke Jaune up, he saw Courage tied up in chains and an elderly couple being lowered into a pit of spiders.
"Ah so you're awake." Katz said. Jaune turned his head only to get kicked in the face. Knocking out a tooth. "That was for my face, boy." Said Katz. Jaune growled at him. "You'll never get away with this." Jaune said. "Now, now boy you'll have your turn next." Said Katz. Jaune attempted to escape his chains but couldn't. 'Damn it.' Jaune cursed himself.
Courage saw this and he tried the same but to no avail. Katz laughed. "Well I'll be going off now. Don't worry I will be back to ensure my wrath onto you."
Minutes passed as the elderly couple was getting lower and lower into the spider pit. Courage and Jaune continue to struggle to get out. The pink dog then noticed a bobby pin on the ground, a lightbulb went off. He had an idea. Courage used his abnormally large tongue to grab the pin and used it to get free. Jaune, who watched the whole thing, was shocked. "I can't tell if that's cool or disgusting." He said. The pink dog laughs a bit. "Anyways Courage go to the lever on the right side and shut it down." Jaune ordered. Courage moaned. "Don't worry about me. Go, save your family." Jaune said as he thought of an idea.
Courage went to the lever on the right. Pulling it backwards the Eustace and Muriel were being raised back up. Courage rushed to save them but before Courage can even do so, Katz grabbed him. "Stop right there, dog." He said. Courage gasped. "I've had enough of you dog." Katz snarled. "I guess I'll have to deal with you first then yes?" He asked. Courage frantically shook his head no. Katz pulled the lever back down, lowering the couple again. Katz walked up to the pit holding Courage over it, causing the poor dog to scream. "I guess this is goodbye, dog." Katz smiled as he dropped Courage into the pit.
"Courage!" Muriel yelled.
Everything was like slow motion to Courage. What was, in real time a 30 second fall was like an eternity. He didn't even feel like screaming. The pink dog closed his eyes expecting the worse. However, he felt something grab his leg, or rather someone. Courage opened his eyes to see Jaune grabbing him by the hindleg.
~Jaune's P.O.V.~
While Courage was rescuing his owners, Jaune used whatever aura he had left to break his chains. It was futile, the chains were aura proof. However, when he saw Katz drop Courage into the pit, he snapped. He felt his aura suddenly burst up like a soda filled with Mentos. He broke out of his chains and rushed to the pit. Adrenaline rushing through his veins and aura healing and powering him, he barely caught Courage by his hide leg with him on the ground near the pit. He pulled Courage up with all of his strength, tossing him to the lever.
When Courage noticed he was near the levers he quickly pulled them to bring Muriel and Eustace to safety and closing the pit. He quickly went towards them. Katz was pissed, once more his plans were foiled. He turned to Jaune, lifting his left leg with the intention of stomping him in the head. Jaune was first to act though as he swung his left arm out, sweeping Katz right leg, causing him to fall. Katz fell to the floor and felt the blond huntsman get on top of him, punching him repeatedly in the face. Katz then caught Jaune's fist and kicked him in the chest, throwing the young man into the wall. Katz then pulled out Jaune's sword, threw away the sheath and lunged towards him. Jaune dodged Katz's strike. 'That bastard, trying to kill me with my own sword.' He thought. Jaune saw a pipe laying on the ground. Katz went for another strike. He rolled out of the way towards the pipe.
He picked it up and went into a sword stance. Katz scoffed. The two were then trading blows, sword and pipe clashing against each other. Jaune barely dodges all of Katz's hits, each blow taking a chunk of his aura. Everything Jaune threw at the cat Faunus didn't even hit him. Eventually Katz sliced through Jaune's pipe, leaving it in two. He then kicked the young boy into the ground. Jaune tried to get back up but Katz stepped on his chest, stopping him right there. The Faunus pointed Jaune's sword at him. He smiled. "I believe this is the end for you my friend." Katz taunted.
~Courage's P.O.V.~
Courage raced to Eustace and Muriel, and when he got to them, he used the pin he got to set them free. Once freed Muriel pulled Courage into a hug. "Oh, Courage how I've missed." The old woman said, happy to be reunited with Courage. Said dog returned the hug. The moment was then ruined by Eustace. "Yeah, yeah now let's get out of here." He said in his usual rude demeanor. "But what about that poor young man?" Muriel asked as she pointed to Jaune. Courage saw where she was pointing and gasped. Katz was standing over Jaune with a sword pointing at him. Courage frowned as he leaped onto the chain, sliding down. He heard Muriel tell him to be careful. When the dog touched the ground, he saw the sheath the sword went into. He picked it up noticing two leather straps, he then pulls on one of the leather straps. To Courage's surprise the sheath turned into a shield. He then got another idea. He sneakily walks up behind Katz and heard him say. "I believe this is the end for you my friend." Courage saw him raise the sword, ready to bring it down on Jaune. Wasting no time, Courage leaped into the air and bashed the shield into Katz's head.
~Jaune's P.O.V.~
Jaune saw Courage hit Katz on the head with his shield, staggering him and dropping his sword. Jaune took this opportunity to kick Katz in the stomach. When Katz grabbed his stomach in pain, Jaune then kicked him in the head. Katz staggered back a bit. Jaune quickly got up and filled his right fist with aura. He punched Katz, unable to dodge in time, square in the face knocking him out for good. Jaune collapsed to his knees, tired, he suddenly felt Courage run up to him, hugging him. Jaune smiled and returned the hug.
~5 hours later~
After defeating Katz, Jaune called the police telling them what had happened. Eventually the police and paramedics came to the scene, escorting Katz off to prison and tending to Jaune.
Jaune was sitting in the back on the ambulance. He didn't need a doctor, due to his aura, but the medics gave him bandages anyways. He saw Courage being reunited with his owners, he liked Muriel, she was kind and reminded him of his grandma. Eustace however called Courage 'a stupid dog' making him wanting to get up and put Eustace in his place. What stopped him was an angry voice. A VERY angry voice to a girl. A girl he knew very well.
"JAUNE MILES ARC!"
It was his partner, Pyrrha Nikos. Jaune slowly turned to her, and behind her was an equally angry NR and RWBY. He gulped. 'Well I had a nice life, shame I had to die young though.' He thought to himself.
"Hey Pyrrha." Jaune sheepishly said.
"'Hey Pyrrha'? Is that all you can say after ignoring our calls for the past two days!" She yelled, if you looked closer you can see steam coming out of her ears. Before he can respond he was interrupted.
"You left us worried! We thought someone kidnapped you or worse!" Ruby yelled.
"Yeah I had to break Cardin's leg because I thought he did something to you!" Nora yelled.
"I can confirm that." Ren replied.
"Look guys, I can explain." Jaune pleaded.
"Fine explain why you haven't called us and why you haven't answered our calls. You dolt." Sneered Weiss.
Before he can give them an answer. They saw an elderly woman, Muriel with Courage beside her, tap him on the shoulder. Jaune turned around to face the woman.
"Excuse me, young man. Are you Jaune?" She asked.
"Yes, I am ma'am." Jaune answered.
Muriel hugged him and Jaune returned the hug. His friends were confused. They then briefly ignored their anger to see their surroundings and quickly put two and two together. Though Blake hid behind Yang when she saw Courage.
"Oh, thank you, young man, for saving me and my husband and for bringing my dear Courage back to me." She said as she and Jaune ended the hug.
"Oh, it's nothing. I'm just doing my duty as a huntsman. And besides this little guy did all the saving." Jaune said as he knelt down next to Courage. The pink dog simply licked Jaune in thanks. Jaune laughed.
"Well I still feel like I should reward you for all of your help. I also believe Courage would agree too." Muriel said as Courage nodded in agreement. "Oh, how about dinner. I make a fine Fox stew." She offered.
"Maybe another time Mrs. Bagge right now I have to sort out a small problem." He said.
"Oh, alright but don't forget to give me and Courage a little visit." She said as Courage gives Jaune their address. Surprising his friends, for to them a pink dog that can stand on its hind legs was weird.
"Will do." He said as Muriel and Courage went back to Eustace. Courage was stopped by Jaune who knelt down again to his level.
"Hey Courage, thanks for saving me back there. I owe you a lot. Here if you ever need help, don't be afraid to call me alright." Jaune said as he gave Courage a piece of paper with his scroll number on it. Courage nodded. He then hugged Jaune and he returned it. They were like that for a few seconds. After they ended it, they waved each other goodbye.
After Courage left with Eustace and Muriel in a rusty green truck, he turned to his friends. They were confused about what happened when he was gone. They all had so many questions.
"Jaune? Who was that and why does that woman's dog have pink fur and can walk on its hind legs?" Pyrrha asked, speaking for everyone, who wanted to know too. Jaune sighed. He looked at his friends and said.
"Let's get to the dorm first then I will tell you what happened." He said.
The eight friends walked towards the docks heading back to Beacon and boy doesn't Jaune have a story to tell. As the screen closes to black, Courage pops out of the hole.
"That's all folks." The dog said as he laughed and then went back down the hole.

Hey guys Arcanus here, coming at you with the first chapter of my new story: Arcanus's One-Shots feat. Jaune Arc. I will be working on these series of one-shots alongside with 'Remnant's Ghost Rider', which the next chapter will be coming out soon. I have the next few chapters of this story planned out, but if you have any ideas for potential chapters, I'll write it and give you a shout as thanks for supporting me. They could be just set in the RWBY universe or a crossover. Though I will warn you, for crossovers the stuff I'm familiar with is mostly in the western media, i.e. stuff shown in the U.S. since I live there, so my knowledge on things like anime is limited since I only watched a handful of shows, like JoJo, Guyver, Pokémon, Dragon Ball, Fairy Tail, Full metal Alchemist, Soul Eater, Akame ga kill, and Kill la kill.
