Scars
Moonlight in slits provide the light in the dark, spacious master bedroom. The woman in the bed was resting peacefully, oblivious to the angst coursing through her husband's mind. It was one of those nights again and Katsuki was anxious. Jack knifing in the bed, in horror, from the old memory that replayed in his head.
He knows that if he were to stroke her scar, she would be in comforting mode, but with how little sleep she had been getting because of their newborn, who was sprawled like a star fish in the crib a few meters from her, he realizes there was more than enough proof that this was real.
Katsuki made a lot of mistakes. Some he could rectify, others he can only try to make up for, yet, for some unexplainable reason he was still blessed with so much. His wife, Ochako, was one of those mysteries. She married him even when he screwed everything up, when he was about to jump after blaming All Might's retirement on himself, when he almost became one of the things, he fights every day. Yet, she was also there as a reminder of the good he can be and will be, at least for his daughter who will never grow up like Shouto and prays that she never will. Staring at his wife's figure lying in bed and wondering when his luck will change.
After all, he doesn't deserve her Izuku definitely should have gotten her. He never would have laid a hand on her in a drunken rage, he never would have nearly killed her with a broken glass bottle neck in his drunken stupor, he never would have even given up. Izuku, the poor bastard, forgives him in a heartbeat for all his wrong when he should have given him hell for it. Izuku is so much better than him.
Agony shoots through him at the thought.
Reminding himself of the past was one thing, but all the things he almost did come and come second in, hurt just a bit more.
Startling himself from his thoughts, knowing coronaries are inevitable with this kind of thinking. Run through it again, becoming Number One Hero, a newborn, and a wife. Yeah, that sounds like all the reasons not to think anymore. With that last thought, Katsuki crawled back in bed, pulled his wife close to him, while staring at the ceiling, praying not to screw it up.
AN: I am new and I just wanted to try this out. Please leave comments on what I can do to get better. Thank you so much!
