A world of complete blackness, not a light to be found. A world of space, where you float around for all of eternity. A world so utterly devoid of people, that there is not a sound. But there was a star in the midst, and then the creation began.
I was born into the void back when there was nothing. One day, things were normal, then the next, I appeared.
After a few hundred years of drifting around, I felt something twinge deep in my chest. Something was pulling me.
Almost in a trance, I lifted my arms and began to chant
" Ελάτε, Gaea, Γη, φύλακα. Ελάτε, Ουρανός, ουρανός, ουράνιος πατέρας." Come, Gaea, Earth, caretaker. Come, Ouranos, sky, heavenly father"
In a burst of light, a planet appeared. I was standing on one of its mountains, arms raised. Trees were growing, caves were forming, waves were rolling. This was Earth. This was Gaea.
With a start, the girl broke out of her memories as Zeus cleared his throat. "Does anyone feel any disturbances in their domain? Any trouble?"
No one stood up to say anything. No one except the girl. "Something is off in the British Wizarding World. I can't tell much, but something is very wrong. I need to be there."
Zeus frowned, "Well Chaos". For the girl was Chaos, the creator of worlds. The most powerful being in the world, and the most respected member of the council. Her normal form was that of an 11-year-old, rather like Hestia and Artemis.
"What would you have us do?" She replied, confidently, "I would like to go undercover as a student at the wizarding school there, so I can keep an eye on things."
Artemis commented, "It seems like a good idea. It is your world, after all." Artemis, Poseidon, Hades, Apollo, Athena, Hermes, Hephaestus, and Demeter all voted in favor.
Zeus then boomed, quite literally, "Alright, you have the council's permission to go to England, but you must attend the council meetings. And we can revoke our permission at any time.
Chaos smiled as Zeus ended the meeting. A few million years ago, she had a demigod who was a wizard and lived in Britain. His family had thrived as Wizarding royalty for years until about a thousand years ago when the family went extinct. The Chaos family was about to make a reappearance.
Now she only had one thing to do. In a thump of air, her wings sprang out of her back, and she flew off to Wizarding Britain, ready to forge a new identity for herself. One as Emma Chaos.
Professor Snape sighed. It was yet another sorting, but this year both his godson, Draco Malfoy, and the Potter brat would be at Hogwarts. Snape sneered at some first years who looked pale with fright. "Hufflepuffs most likely", he thought. As he looked over the rest of the first years, he saw one who was not trembling with fright.
She was short but confident. He tried to match her face to one of the pureblood families, but couldn't. She seemed to have Greek origins, with olive-colored skin and chocolate brown eyes. She had light brown hair was tied in a low ponytail, sitting at the nape of her neck in a style reminiscent of the Wizengamot lords and ladies.
Now that was interesting. Only people from the Wizengamot wore their hair like that, and even then it was only the lords and ladies with hereditary seats.
Most of the Slytherins and Ravenclaws had already noticed her and were whispering and pointing. She was easy to spot, even with her height, as all the first years were giving her a wide berth.
Minerva had started calling out the name on her list. "Abbot, Hannah. Bones, Susan." Then that girl was called up, "Chaos, Emma". The hall grew dead quiet as she walked up. The second the hat touched her head, it yelled out "Slytherin!"
Later that evening, after giving the first year Slytherins a speech, Professor Snape walked down to his quarters in deep thought. He knew he recognized the name Chaos from somewhere. Lucius had taught him all he knew about pureblood culture, so maybe that was where he should check first.
After a minute, Professor Snape flooed over to Malfoy manor and was confronted with complete madness. Lord Nott, Lord Avery, Lord Bulstrode, Lord Flint, Lord Greengrass, Lord Rosier, and Lord Parkinson were all in the receiving room arguing over a book that sat open on the table in front of them. Professor Snape could see a family tree on one of the pages, but that was all. Lucius was looking over the book, seeming concerned.
Then, Lucius looked up, 'Ah, Severus, I was just about to floo you! Did you see the first year, Emma Chaos?" Professor Snape simply nodded.
Lord Nott spoke up then, "The Chaos family went missing thousands of years ago, but in Britain, they are still wizarding Royalty. I need you to keep an eye on her. Keep her happy, and make certain none of our heirs offend her."
Professor Snape nodded. As the only adult tie to Hogwarts the purebloods had, it was his job to keep an eye on things and to keep people safe. He would do it.
