Shirou's POV...Years Before...This here is a major experiment, so I suppose I should probably explain, though there will be a bit of an explanation in the story. Anyway, Shirou is the last of the Amagiri Clan, of which the Clan's males have been the bearers of the Boosted Gear. How that works is that the 'Master', the Red Dragon Emperor takes the Apprentice, the next user, along with them wherever they go. When the Master is killed, right before they die, they Transfer the Boosted Gear to the Apprentice, along with a small bit of their Senjutsu Energy, to allow the Transfer to go smoothly. Smart, right? Anyway, Shirou is the last male of the Amagiri Clan, making him the last Amagiri Bearer of the Boosted Gear. Other than that, that's all I'm going to explain in this little Author's note, the rest will be explained in this chapter. Just FYI, keep your eyes peeled for a Legend of Zelda fic, and a My Hero fic. Alright, let's get on with it!
I quickly duck out of the way of Eijiro's fist, my small body being a huge benefit to me at this current moment in time. Of course, that doesn't help when your older brother is still much stronger than you, and much faster as well. I get launched, hitting a tree.
As I groan, my parents call it. Dad praises Eijiro, and Mom hurries over to patch me up. That's how it normally goes, and there isn't any other way that I could have wanted it.
I grin, allowing Mom to heal me using Senjutsu "I almost managed to dodge Eijiro's left hook. Did you see it? A little bit to the left, and I could have managed it!"
She ruffles my hair, hauling my small frame to my feet "Of course you did, kiddo. Just keep chugging along and you'll be strong enough to beat your father and Ddraig-kun in no time!"
I sigh "So, who do you think is going to be Dad's successor? Wasn't this battle meant to allow Dad to make a decision? I'm guessing that Eijiro-nii is going to be the new Red Dragon Emperor, as well as Leader of the Clan…"
Mom smiles, her hazel eyes glowing with mirth "We'll see about that. Just know that no matter what happens, I am very proud of you for trying, as is your father. Now come on."
As young as I was, I should have known that Peace never lasts. My father was the Red Dragon Emperor, as was my Great-Uncle, and my Great-Grandfather, and down from the first Amagiri. Don't ask me how, but the first Amagiri caught God's eye, and so, as he was one of the first-ever to wield the Longinus known as the Boosted Gear, and was the first-ever not to fall to the curse known as Juggernaut Drive, God decided that he would make the Amagiri Clan's males inherit the Boosted Gear. As such, every leader of the Amagiri Clan is also the Red Dragon Emperor. As my father was the leader, he was also the Red Dragon of Domination, who knows no peace. I just wish that I would have known this that day.
But of course, I went about my young life without a care in the world. My goal in life, at least at that time, was to impress my father. That would turn out to be the very thing that was my downfall.
I sat next to my father as our family had a small picnic on the nearby hill, looking out over the little town that we lived near. As my brother made my parents laugh, I just took the view in. Little did I know, this would be the last time that I would ever get to see that sight.
As I was watching the people in town move along, looking like ants, I never noticed a gold-haired man touch down, white/blue wings extended behind him. The only reason that I even knew that he was there was that Dad got up, summoning the Boosted Gear and growling "Isane Hashimoto, what are you doing here?"
The golden-haired man, Isane, shrugs, grinning rather sadistically "Well, Red Dragon, I thought that I felt a familiar presence, and I've been wanting to put a stop to this little rivalry of ours for a while, so I figured, there's no time like the present. And what do you know, your little family is here. They can watch as I put you down for the final time. Albion, care to do the honors?"
{Balance Breaker: Vanishing Dragon Scale Mail!}
Isane Hashimoto, the White Dragon Emperor, smiles, his light wings flaring "I'll give you an option, Red One. Either we fight man-to-man like this...or I use Juggernaut Drive, and I kill your entire family and force you to watch, as I can control the Dragon of Supremacy much better than you can. Your choice."
[Balance Breaker: Welsh Dragon Scale Mail!]
My father, the best teacher I've ever known, the man who taught me to fight and taught me to fight to protect those that I care about, did the one thing that he could to protect us. He fought the White Dragon Emperor, his Rival, and did the best that he could to protect us at the same time. I knew though, that if he didn't have to protect us, he wouldn't have lost. Father was the strongest of the Amagiri Clan, and Ddraig called him the Strongest Red Dragon Emperor known to Man for a reason. But, he had a family to protect. So, he did the one thing that he could do to protect us, and ensure that we...that I would live another day.
"I, who shall awaken, am the Heavenly Dragon who stole the Principles of Domination from God. I am jealous of the Infinite and fret over the Dream. I shall become the Red Dragon of Domination, and I shall sink you into the depths of the Crimson Purgatory! Juggernaut Drive!"
As Father transformed into his most powerful, most uncontrollable form, it's raw power sent both my mother and brother flying. Eijiro survived, but Mom...Mom landed directly on her head, snapping her neck. It killed her instantly.
Dad took on Isane Hashimoto, and Eijiro rushed over to me, picking me up. As much as I wanted to check on Mom, Dad and Eijiro's training allowed me to know instantly that she was gone. Not exactly something that a normal six-year-old would know, but I've never really been normal, have I?
As Isane transformed into his own Juggernaut Drive and attacked Dad with the same furiousity, Eijiro grabs my hand and races away "Come on! We need to go! It's too dangerous here!"
I tried to shout to him that we needed to carry Mom away from the raging battle, but he stopped me. And then, we heard the dreaded sounds of charging. Both sides were charging their individual Longinus Smashers, their strongest attacks, and we were right in the radius. A Sixteen-Year-Old and a Six-Year-Old were not going to make it out of there alive, at least, not like we were. And Dad was running on limited energy as is, so there was no way that he would be able to save us.
So, Eijiro did what he decided to. He clung to me, threw me underneath him, and sent all of the Senjutsu Energy that he could my way. It was Eijiro's sacrifice of energy that allowed my Defense to buff up enough to survive the blast that killed Eijiro and Isane and caused Dad to drop out of Juggernaut Drive from exhaustion and lifespan depletion.
As the massive energy spikes died down, I wiggled my way out of Eijiro's grasp and raced down to Dad. I knew my duty. It would suck, and I would hate it, but I knew what I would have to do.
Dad smiles at me, burns sprouting from his legs up to his face "Hey, kiddo…I'm glad you made it."
As much as I want to hug Dad, and do my best to give him enough energy to allow Ddraig to heal his wounds, I knew that he was too far gone. I blame my father's training for that, but it is what it is. So, I grab ahold of his hand and smile "It's alright Daddy...just like you trained me. I'm ready. You don't have long, so...it's time."
Dad chuckles, coughing up blood "Should have figured you'd be straight and to the point. You're just like your mother...Ddraig, care to help me?"
Ddraig rumbles "[Of course, Haruto. It's...been an interesting time, being your partner. And, I'm thankful for you. Are you ready, Shirou-kun?]"
I nod and he continues "[Alright...here goes…]"
[Transfer!]
It was that day that my life changed. I became more like my father, and for his experience, and his Senjutsu Energy, I was grateful. I became more like a warrior and even managed to find myself a new home in the Kuoh Region. It was thanks to my family's sacrifice that I became strong. I promised myself that I wouldn't break down, and I promised myself that I would become the strongest in the world. I had to do it, to become the best that I could become. It was the day that I became the Red Dragon Emperor and the day that I was sent on the path to become the True Welsh Dragon God-Emperor. It was the day that I became more.
Present Day…
I grunt, tying my hair back "Okay then...let's get up there then. Hope you're ready for this, Ddraig. It's probably going to be a wild ride, being a new student."
My Dragon Partner, closest friend, and practical guardian, grunts "[Kid, you're the Red Dragon Emperor. You're much better at wielding the Boosted Gear than your father, considering you already unlocked Balance Breaker, and made yourself a Subspecies Balance Breaker. I'm pretty sure you will be fine.]"
I crack my knuckles, fixing my tie "Yeah, you're right. I'll be fine. I just have to be confident. I'm the Red Dragon Emperor, it will be fine. I've got this!"
Yeah, I didn't think this through. I have never been much of a people person. Hell, I only have two friends, and I have been with Ddraig, running around and doing things. I have no idea how I managed to do this.
As I got to Kuoh Academy, I cracked my knuckles "Well...here goes nothing."
I continue to walk, and then my phone goes off. I look down to find my phone going off. When I open it, it's Tobio Ikuse, the man who has been one of my closest friends, and the person who has taken care of me since that fateful day.
BlackSlash: Hey, Shirou, don't forget to go to school. I know you don't like new people, but I promise you, it will be fine. Just keep your head down and it will be fine.
RedDragon: If I do this, Lav-chan will make me Ramen. Right? Also, I'm going to need a forward on my allowance or something. I owe Koneko-chan some more chocolate. I lost a bet.
BlackSlash: Sure kid, Lavenia will make you your favorite type of Ramen tonight. I'll even get you a couple of chocolate bars of Koneko-chan. Now, get going!
RedDragon: Lol, jokes on you. I'm already there. And...thanks, Tobi.
BlackSlash: You're welcome. Good Luck. Also, we should be home before dark. Azazel-sama had another mission for us, but it's nothing but a milk run. Love you, little brother.
RedDragon: Yup. See you when you get home.
As soon as I put my phone down, I was instantly shaken down by the shortest girl in school, Koneko Tenjou...one of my closest friends...and a Devil, or rather, a Nekoshou. I sigh, allowing the smaller female to inspect my pockets for chocolate "Wow, no 'Glad to see you're okay, Shirou?' No 'How are you today, Shirou?' What am I, just a holder of Chocolate?"
Koneko climbs onto her usual throne of my back and motions, deadpanning "Let's not forget that you're also my chariot."
Ddraig snorts from the Boosted Gear "[Whipped.]"
I growl "It's not like that, asshole. Now shut up, and think about what you've done."
Koneko grabs two strands of my hair and starts to guide me as if I'm a horse. I grunt "Is there a reason why you're pulling my hair?"
She grunts "Yuuto-kun is over this way, and he would like to have a word with you."
I grunt "Well, I suppose…I don't have a choice, do I?"
The white-haired girl shakes her head, jerking on my hair once more "No."
I nod "Yeah, I expected as much, to be honest. Alright short-stuff, lead the way."
As I walked on, with Koneko guiding me, she rumbles, whispering into my ear "How has your Senjutsu Training going?"
Yeah, I was never good at keeping secrets. My first day in Kuoh was the day that I met my two best friends, both of whom are Devils under the service of Rias Gremory, one of the three 'Great Ladies' of Kuoh. I was giving off enough power through the Boosted Gear that the entire freaking Supernatural area of Kuoh knew that the Red Dragon Emperor was awake. Rias herself has propositioned me to become reincarnated as a Devil, but so far, I've done well in saying no. It would be fun if I were reincarnated, and I would have a lot of strong people to fight, but I like staying close to home, with Tobio and the others. So, knowing the history of the Amagiri Clan, Rias made me promise to consider her question and then asked Koneko to help train me in Senjutsu so that way I could make myself practically invisible, and not give off raw power like a lightning strike. Yeah...it's been a rather...difficult process, not going to lie.
I shrug "It's...okay. You know how it goes. I've been trying."
Koneko grunts "Just trying?"
I shrug "I made Tobio think he was a chicken for about an hour. That's about it...so yeah, we're still working on it."
She sighs "You know, I probably should have figured that. Now come on, Yuuto has to make this quick."
I grunt "If it's about me joining Rias-sama's Peerage again, I'm going to hit him so hard that it will make his head spin. Just so you know."
Koneko shakes her head, yanking my hair once more "Just calm down, it's not going to be like that. Just keep walking."
I nod "Yup, got it. Yes, Ma'am."
So, I continued to walk, and eventually, a very familiar blonde boy waved us down. I grunt, our eyes meeting as Koneko drops her head on top of mine "I swear that if this is about me joining Rias-sama's Peerage with you guys…"
Kiba's hands instantly come above his face "I'm sorry! You're kind of an important person to the Supernatural World!"
I smirk "You're forgetting one thing, buddy. I'm nothing but a normal human."
Koneko's hand chops the top of my head as she grunts "Quit selling yourself short. You're not just a normal human. You are the last of the fabled Amagiri Clan, who are known not only for their ability to wield any type of sword quite well but also for the fact that they are the only known Human Clan that can use Senjutsu. Not to mention, you're the Red Dragon Emperor, and you work with the Slash/Dog Team and the Gregori. You're not a normal human."
I rub the growing bump on my head as Kiba snickers "Koneko, it was a joke. We make that joke because he is still human. That's also part of the reason why everyone wants him, as well as the fact that our Shirou is the Red Dragon Emperor, which means he has near limitless potential."
I roll my eyes "Yes, we all know this. I get reminded about it thanks to Tobi every day. Can we please move on? Was that all you needed from me, Kiba? Because if it is...we might want to run to class."
Before Kiba can say anything else, the bell rings. I sweatdrop "Yeah, it's running to class. See you guys at lunch."
With that, I do what any high-school-age boy has had to do, and I sprint like hell to the Third-Year Classroom. I barely make it in time for the second bell and slide into my seat as the beautiful, busty Devil known as Rias Gremory walks in with a bright blonde girl "Alright, this is Yuuma Amano. She's new here, and I was showing her around, that's why we were late."
As Yuuma passed, her eyes glanced down to my right arm, and Ddraig rumbles "[Kid…]"
I nod "I noticed. Something's off about her and Rias."
Ddraig sighs "[Damn it, just when I thought we were going to get off easy coming to school.]"
I snort, careful to mutter under my breath "Yeah right, when do we ever get off easy, D?"
Instantly, Yuuma looks up at me "Are you talking to someone?"
I sweatdrop, shaking my head as the Teacher finally comes in "Nope! I'm Shirou Amagiri, by the way! It's a pleasure to meet you!"
We shake hands, and the English class begins. As it continues, Yuuma and I continue to talk. As much as the fishiness about her stuck with me, she seemed to be a lonely, normal girl. Plus, she wanted to hang out after school, because I seemed to be nice. If I didn't take this chance, no matter the risk, Tobio would never let me live it down. So, I said yes.
And school went by fast after that. The only thing that I even remember about Gym Class, which is normally my favorite class, at least when Tobio teaches me when we're on a mission, is that Kiba gave me a pamphlet to the Occult Research Club, which is where the Gremory Group hangs out. I simply took it and placed it in my pocket, intent on tossing it later. I'm glad that I didn't.
I was struggling with my decision internally though, because of the fact that my Dad, before everyone passed and I went on to live with Tobio and go on the adventure of a lifetime, always taught Eijiro and me to trust our instincts. If we can't trust anything else, trust our instincts because they would always show us the way. And yet, here I was ignoring it.
I still went anyway, and I had a good time. Yuuma and I went to the fast-food restaurant and got hamburgers, and then took a walk. We ended up around the Park, and as Yuuma sat down on the Fountain, Ddraig rumbles "[Since you decided to idiotically ignore your instincts, just be on guard. Something about her seems...familiar. Kid, don't you dare get cocky!]"
As we looked on, Yuuma's hair had transformed, among other things, and she became a Fallen Angel...one that I didn't recognize. I growl, looking around before summoning the Boosted Gear "Aw come on, I can't get one peaceful date? What the hell am I supposed to tell Tobio-nii now? That I can't get a girl?"
Yuuma shrugs, summoning a light spear "Once I kill you, Shirou-kun, it won't be a problem, now will it?"
I sigh "Before we 'dance', will you at least tell me your actual name? It ain't Yuuma. I mean, just look at you. No offense."
Now fuming, the blackette growls "It's Raynare. Now then...I'm going to finish you off, so that way the Red Dragon will be out of the way for the next phase of the plan."
As she proceeds to summon more light spears, I grin "Ddraig, we don't even need to use the Scale Mail for this. Dragoon Mode."
The Boosted Gear glows and Ddraig rumbles "[Kid, just because you don't have Kiba or Koneko's weakness to light doesn't mean that she isn't strong. Don't underestimate her. It will end up being your downfall.]"
[Welsh Dragon Subspecies Balance Breaker: Dragoon Mode]
As red and black armor came over my body, dragon scales appearing in patches, and my teeth sharpening and my pupils slitting, I grin evilly "Come on then, at least try and make this interesting."
Yeah, I should have listened to Ddraig. I should have gone with the straight Scale Mail. That would have made things go so much better. Okay, I suppose I should probably explain.
Raynare wasn't the problem, in fact, with the enhanced speed and strength thanks to Dragoon Mode, taking her down was easy. But, I got cocky. I wasn't paying attention. I didn't think. That was my downfall.
As I stood on the small of her back, I leaned down, snarling "Tell you what, bitch. Since you didn't get all that far, tell me what I want to know, and I will consider letting you live. Don't and...well, it will be your choice."
As I pin Raynare down, she chuckles "You know, I would have expected better from the last Amagiri, say nothing of the Red Dragon Emperor. Did your dear old Dad not teach you anything?"
At the mention of my father, I growl, putting more weight onto her, getting the blackette to cry out "If you want to live to report back to whoever the hell you work for, I would suggest you stop talking. That's just me though."
Raynare shouts "Dohnaseek, do it now!"
Ddraig roars "[Kid! Behind you!]"
Before I even have time to react, I am stabbed through the chest by two twin-headed light spears. I cough up blood, falling forward onto the floor as Dohnaseek picks Raynare off the ground "Sorry kid, nothing personal, but a job's a job."
With that, they disappear, and Ddraig rumbles "[I know you've said that you wanted to make the choice yourself, but I think it's time to become a Devil, kid. You need to get Kiba's pamphlet and hold it in your right hand, and I will do the rest.]"
So, as I am bleeding out, having already returned to my normal form, I placed my bloody right hand on the red sigil on Kiba's pamphlet, and as the Boosted Gear glows, I allow the darkness to take me. I figured that Ddraig had everything covered. Besides that...I kind of died, so it's not like I had much of a choice in the matter. What can I say, dying is as much enjoyment as living.
(Author yawns) "Well, this was definitely an interesting time. I hope that I've got the lore correct because it looks good as I read this. I also really hope that you guys enjoy the story, and please don't hate this...anyway, the next chapter is going to have a few laughs, I'll be honest. Shirou will wake up back home with Rias cuddling him, buck-ass naked, having healed his wounds from the night before, although he will always carry two small scars on his chest from the encounter, and then Tobio will come up and shit is going to get good! Also along those lines, poor Kiba will have to take Shirou along with him to teach him the ropes of being a Devil...they'll get summoned by a Cosplayer...poor Kiba not only has to be Beerus from Battle of Gods but also Golden Frieza from Revival of F. Lucky Bastard Shirou gets to be Goku in both cases. Poor, poor Kiba. Alright, I've got other things to do, so peace out, and enjoy!"
