"Fly faster bud!"a voice shouted.
A jet black dragon with dark navy almost black bat-like wings and a navy tipped tail flew as fast as his wings could carry him. "I can only go so fast!"he commented.
"They're gaining on us, Night!"his rider complained. "So fly your little butt faster!"she shouted.
"Ellie, calm down."Night told her. "We'll be there soon."he added.
He yelped and spun around in a circle to avoid a sudden bola that was tossed ever so carefully in his direction. The next bola however, managed to tangle itself around his rider; throwing her off of his back.
Not a second after she fell, he soon began to fall out of the sky and into the ocean below, drowning rather quickly due to his right tail fin that was clamped shut. Before he even fell, one of his pitch black scales flew off him and landed, softly on the sandy, warm beach that was near the ocean.
"Hold on, Nightwing. We can manage this, we can do this. We can sur—"Ellie spoke before the salty water consumed her.
Nightwing swam towards her and engulfed the girl in his wings as the two sank further into the deep, dark abyss of the sea floor.

The next morning, a red headed girl stretched her arms up above her head and yawned loudly. She walked to the Roost's outer door and stood, staring wide eyed at Chief Duggard, a red haired Viking with a beard of the same color and chocolate brown eyes that clashed with his appearance. He was standing there, blinking at her.
"Chief Duggard? What are you doing here at the Rooster?"she asked.
"Oh, there's a crate that's labeled to you Recsue Riders. It's down at the docks."Duggard told her.
"Thank you Duggard."she smiled. "We'll check it out."she added, smiling.
"Good! You do that Recsue Riders and I'll go back to finding Haggis."Duggard said.
The girl waved until Duggard was out of shot, which luckily for her wasn't long.
"Leyla?"she heard a voice ask as she turned around.
"Was that Duggard?"a blue creamed dragon asked.
"Yes. He said there's a crate for us at the docks."Leyla said, aloud.
"What are we waiting for, let's go!"a brown and orange dragon complained.
He stood beside Dak, Leyla's twin brother who looked like an exact replica of her, and the blue creamed dragon. Three more dragons soon joined the trio; a purple one, a green eel-like one, and a red fiery dragon.
"What's this I hear about a crate?"the red one asked.
"Aggro, it's a crate at the docks."the blue creamed dragon stated.
"Cutter's right, sis. Let's go!"Dak shouted, happily.
He backflipped into the blue creamed dragon's saddle and waited, impatiently.
"C'mon Recsue Riders!"the blue creamed night-fury-like dragon shouted as he readied his wings and jumped into the bright blue sky.
He blended well into the sky while the others stood out like a sore thumb. The dragon and Dak watched Leyla quickly jump into the eely dragon's saddle as the dragon took to the sky not a minute later.
To get to the docks was a rather short flight in Dak's opinion. He urged for the flight to be longer as he loved riding on Winger but the dragons had all landed about five inches away from the docks. He and Leyla both jumped off of their dragons and out of the dark brown saddles with silver metal handles on said saddles.
"So what's in this crate, even?"Dak asked, confused.
The eely dragon padded up to the crate and tapped it with her tail, but it did absolutely nothing. Winger decided to 'try' and help her open the crate and after several tries; it took them and Dak and Leyla all to open the crate. Resting inside the crate was a scale, of a dark black coloring. It seemed to have the slightest tint of navy blue to the black but you could only see it in the light.
"What is that?"the eely dragon asked.
"It's a scale."Dak noted.
Leyla turned to glare at him.
"Obviously we knew that."she heard Cutter say.
"Oh right."Dak sheepishly rubbed his head. "Sorry, sis. Carry on."he said.
She handed the scale to Dak, to hold it while she pulled out her dragon diary. That diary was a documentary about dragons started by her and Dak's mother then given to Leyla as the only thing she and Dak have from their human biological mother.
Leyla flipped page after page, frowning as she got nothing. "I've got nothing about the scale!"she complained. "It's from a dragon I never documented about."she added, looking at Dak.
He tossed her the scale back. "Maybe Chief Duggard knows anything about the scale?"he asked.
"Wouldn't hurt to check."Leyla said.
()()()()()
"The scale is from an island called Berk?"Leyla questioned. "Where's Berk exactly?"she said.
"Oh, outside of the Viking Empire."Duggard casually replied.
"And you know this how?"Dak said.
Duggard blinked his brown eyes. "I had a meeting of chieftains from around the world. I met the chief of Berk there, actually."he commented.
"And what was he like?"Dak asked, noticing Leyla turn her head at his direction. "What? We need to know if we're going to find out what dragon that scale is from."Dak reasoned.
Leyla nodded in agreement. "True. Okay, Duggard, tell us everything you know about the chief of Berk."she grinned.

The next two hours, Leyla and Dak spent the time getting ready for their adventure to find the dragon behind the scale. Leyla had kept the scale, tucked firmly into one of Summer's saddle bags that were attached to the eely dragon's saddle. She then jumped into the saddle as Dak made sure they had food for the dragons and for themselves, of course before he, too, jumped into the saddle.
"Rescue Riders, let's go!"Winger shouted as he led the group into the sky.
The sun was setting slowly as it was nearing four o'clock in the afternoon and according to Leyla's calculations, it would take them nearly nine hours to fly to Berk. She had begged Duggard to draw her a map that led to the island but in her opinion, it was very sloppily drawn. It almost looked like a three year old that got excited at charcoal pencils drew it.
()()()()
"Anything?"she heard Dak ask as they were about two hours into their nine hour long flight.
"Nope."Leyla replied. "Just open sea, everywhere!"she shouted, loudly to get her voice heard from the earth-shattering glass of the wind.

Five hours in. Leyla had kept track of the hours mentally but quite frankly, sleep was what she really needed and wanted. She looked over to her right and shook her head as she saw Dak asleep on Winger's back. Luckily, the Swiftwing could keep flying without Dak's help, just like all their dragon friends.
Leyla blinked, trying not to let the inner sleep consume her but it only took her a mere second before it did.
()()()()
"Leyla! Wake up! We're here!"Leyla woke to the loud shouting of her twin brother.
He was wide awake and ready to see what Berk knew about the scale.
"Sorry, Dak. Sleep must've gotten to me."Leyla told him.
"That makes several of us."Summer commented and kept her brown eyes glued onto the purple Rockspitter, who was sleep-flying rather well.
"Wake him up before we land."Leyla said.
The five dragons landed on the outskirts of Berk and while; to Dak and Leyla, the dragons that roamed the small island were foriegn, they were native to the island.
Two dragons, however, stood out. They both had bat-like wings and a set of tail fins at the end of their tails. A set of secondary fins rested behind their wings and were a type of dragon Leyla had never seen before.
"Have you ever seen a dragon like that?"Dak whispered to her.
Leyla shook her head. "I think it's a Night Fury but there's nothing about it in my diary."she said as she flipped through the pages of her diary.
Sure enough, there was nothing about Night Furies. Not even the dragon class they're in and that was something Leyla questioned.
"What class of dragon do you think it is?"Dak asked her.
"Could be Stocker, Bolder, Tracker, Tidal, Mystery, or Strike."Leyla admitted; she knew all the dragon classes but which dragons belonged to said classes, she didn't know all of it.
"I don't think it's Bolder or Tidal. Aren't Burple and Summer in those classes. To me, that Night Fury doesn't seem very rocky nor eely-like. No offense, guys."Dak explained.
"None taken."Burple, a purple Rockspitter, and Summer said in unison.
A group of seven teenagers and six dragons paddling behind them slow-walked up to Leyla, Dak and their dragon friends.
"Who are you?"the lead teenager—of shaggy, Auburn hair and emerald colored eyes—asked.
The Night Fury was directly behind the teen and Leyla could spot a saddle on the sleek, pitch black back. She trailed her eyes from the saddle to the tail, noticing a bright red left tail fin with a white thing clashing the red.
"We're the Rescue Riders."Dak announced, smugly.
"Well, we're the dragon riders of Berk."a short, black haired Viking with piercing blue eyes and a stocky attitude commented.
"Okay, that's a lot of riders."Burple stated. "Should I be scared?"he added.
"No Burple."Dak responded.
"Good. For a second there, I thought I needed to be scared."Burple said.
"Did that human just speak our language?"a white dragon—similar in appearance to the Night Fury, asked.
"Yeah. My brother and I both can."Leyla admitted. "I'm Leyla and that's my brother, Dak."she gestured to Dak, who was leaning his arm against Winger.
"How?"the Night Fury asked. "Dragonese isn't an easy language to understand."he added.
Leyla rolled her eyes. "It's not that hard if you're raised by a mother dragon."she smirked as did Dak.
They both loved to tell they're tale about how they came to understand Dragonese, the language of the dragons. To them, it was an adventure they'd never forget because it was how they met Winger. He was the first dragon the twins ever learned to ride on and until Leyla fell off of him, landing in the sea, did she meet her trusty dragon friend, Summer.
"Mother dragon? You were raised by dragons?"a blonde braided Viking with an axe held firmly in her right hand, asked the two.
"Yeah. Winger's mom took us in and raised us alongside her own son. She taught us Dragonese and how to ride dragons."Dak explained.
"Wow."the female blonde with an axe said.
"Oh yeah! More twins!"another female Viking said.
She had two long broads draping down to her waist and shocking blue eyes. A helmet that looked like the head of a zippleback sat firmly on her head. She raced towards the younger twins and showered motherly love at them.
"Ignore her. What are you doing on Berk?"the lead Viking asked.
Summer padded over to Leyla as the girl dug around her dragon's saddle bag and pulled out the scale from earlier.
"Our chief told us this scale belongs to a dragon here on Berk. We came to figure out what dragon it is."Leyla admitted.
"Before we answer that question; I'm Astrid. That's Hiccup,"Astrid pointed to the Auburn haired Viking, "Snotlout,"she gestured to the stocky attitude one, "Fishlegs,"she pointed with her index finger on her right hand to the big built Viking with blond hair and emerald eyes like Hiccup, "and the twins; Ruffnut and Tuffnut."she gestured to the twins, Ruffnut had let go of Dak and Leyla and was now play fighting her brother.
"Now to answer your question, it belongs to the Shadow Fury."Astrid said.
"The what now?"Winger asked as Dak shrugged his shoulders, confused.
Hiccup sighed. "It's a legendary dragon that has two words to describe it; deadly and dangerous. It never shows itself, in fact, Vikings believe it's a myth. Never been trained by anyone."he explained.
"Actually it's been trained by someone, Hiccup."Astrid said. "My sister-in-law."she added.
"Right, right."Hiccup told her.
"Ellie? She trained a Shadow Fury?"Snotlout asked. "I didn't think she had it in her to train anything!"he commented.
Astrid glared at her. "Be glad my brother isn't around or he'd kill you for that comment."she smirked.
"Do you know where we can find it?"Leyla asked, aloud.
"Isle of Night. But, we may want to keep in mind that the Isle of Night is home to Furies and they don't take well to strange dragons."a voice stated, loudly.
A blond haired Viking adorned in navy blue and dark gray armor walked up to the group, fixating his bright blue eyes on his sister as a jet black and snow white dragon trailed behind him with the slightest of white tint to her dark body.
"Hunter!"Astrid smiled. "What are you doing here?"she questioned.
"Here."he handed her a map. "It'll get you to the Isle of Night and I'm trusting Vanish to help you. She's in your hands, sis. Take care of her."Hunter said.
Astrid nodded. "I will."she said as Hunter smiled.
He gave her a small hug before he walked away, leaving Vanish beside Astrid.
"Be good and keep an eye on my sister for me, okay?"Hunter whispered to Vanish.
"Of course, Hunter."Vanish replied.
"Okay, Vanish, ready?"Astrid asked the Nightlight.
She nodded her head and gestured for Astrid to hope on her back. She knew her mate's scent anywhere and so, using his scent she'll be able to find the Isle.
"What type of dragon is she?"Leyla asked.
"She's half Night Fury and half Light Fury or what we call; Nightlight."Astrid answered.
"Cool!"Dak shouted.
Vanish stood straight, her white tinted black wings stretching out, like that of a bat. At the base of her neck was a navy blue symbol; indicating who her mate was. The infamous Shadow Fury himself, Nightwing.
"You want the Isle of Night, I'll take you to the Island."Vanish stated. "Keep up."she added; knowing her speed rivaled that of a regular Night Fury.
She took off the minute Astrid was settled in her saddle with the Night Fury directly behind her. Winger managed to keep up to the fast flying dragon as did Summer; despite being the fastest sea dragon. Aggro, Cutter, and Burple struggled to keep up with the faster dragons and Meatlug, Fishleg's Gronckle also struggled quite a bit. Hookfang, Snotlout's Monsterous Nightmare, also managed to keep up with the fast dragons as well as Stormfly, Astrid's loyal Deadly Nadder and Luna, Astrid's Light Fury both kept up with Vanish rather well.
Luna's speed rivaled Vanish's as the two Furies flew side by side, maintaining their speed quite decently. Toothless, the Night Fury, also managed to maintain his speed behind the other two Furies.
"Are we there yet? My wings feel like they're going to fall off!"Aggro complained.
"Yes. Welcome to the Isle of Night."Vanish said as she slowed her flight, hovering a good distance from the island.
"Only Furies will be able to land on the island. Every other dragon will stay up here."Luna stated.
Vanish nodded in agreement. "She's right. Luna, Toothless and I will land."Vanish stated.
"Wait, fury? Aggro, you're a Fire Fury. Can't you land as well?"Winger asked the small fiery dragon.
"Aggro can. Any Fury will be able to land."Luna said.
"Just stay behind the three of us and you'll be fine."Toothless told Aggro.
()()()()()()
Four Furies, each of different backgrounds land on the dark island. Aggro was walking in the middle of the Light Fury, Night Fury, and Nightlight Fury. She kept her small body hidden behind the bigger Furies just in case other furies would spot her and eat her for dinner.
"Who goes there?"a fury asked.
"The Princess Vanish. I bring with me, allies that you will not attack or face the wrath of my mate, your prince."Vanish stated, loudly.
"Welcome back Princess."a fury said and bowed to her princess.
"Thank you Windwalker."Vanish said.
The Nightlight prodded forward with Luna and Toothless behind her and Aggro walking behind Luna's white wing, it was doing a magnificent job at hiding the fiery dragon from plain slight.
"So, Princess? How did that happen?"Luna asked.
"It happened when I mated Nightwing. He was the Prince of Furies being the legendary Shadow Fury, he was favored by all furies. Even Eclipse, Ellie's dragon form."Vanish explained.
"Dragon form? She's a dragon?!"Aggro shouted, shocked.
Vanish nodded. "Yeah. She was born a dragon but was cursed by her father to be human. Her dragon name was Eclipse, the sole Princess of Dragons and she took a chance by falling on love with another hybrid, named Hunter. She was a legendary Viper Fury while he was a regular Night Fury."she explained, again.
"I met Nightwing through Eclipse. I was there when she got cursed as was Nightwing. He quickly befriended her and I, being his mate, befriended her as well."Vanish said, finishing her story.
"Wow. That's some story."Toothless commented. "I got stuck with my stupid sister."he jerked a paw at Luna.
"Oh shut up Toothless. We're twins, idiot."Luna deadpanned.
"Vanish?"a voice, all too familiar to Vanish suddenly spoke.
She smiled and ran to nuzzle her mate. "Night! I'm so glad you're okay!"she sighed, happily.
"I'm fine. Ellie and I just drowned. I don't know where she went, Vanish, I'm worried."Nightwing stated.
Luna let her wing up as Aggro prodded a step forward. Toothless stayed beside Luna's side as the three furies watched the Nightlight nuzzle the dark, navy blue and black dragon.
The tail fin came into view as it rested on Vanish's black and white tail fins. They noticed, it was only one on the opposite side as Toothless's. One of his ears—on the left side—had this big hole in it, like someone stabbed his ear and ripped the weapon out.
"Step away from the dragon."a voice said.
The group of Furies turned around and saw a tall Viking man clad in some kind of clothes, native to his Viking tribe.
"Svetlana the sly wants that dragon!"a short woman with a tall black puffy hat that kept falling off her head, shouted with a bit of a Russian accent.
The duo, accompanied with a brown haired green eyed inventor from Huttsgalor, charged the four furies. Nightwing shared a look with Toothless as both males roared as loudly as they could, their roar echoing throughout the entire island. The two Furies' backs split into a set of secondary spines that glowed a bright iridescent blue color —Toothless— and a bright burning purple color —Nightwing.
"Get off this island while you still can!"the two males roared in unison.
The trio of Vikings and Russian women scattered, feared for their lives. Nightwing's back, muzzle, and mouth kept it's glow as did Toothless's.
"You know, you two look cool."Aggro commented.
"Let's go let the world know, the Shadow Fury is back."Nightwing said.
Vanish turned to jump into the sky but looked back at her mate. "What about your tail fin, Night?"she asked.
"Toothless, think you and Vanish can help me?"he asked the Night Fury.
Toothless tilted his head at his rider, who shrugged. "Up to you, bud."Hiccup told him.
He narrowed his bright green eyes and with Vanish's help, managed to get Nightwing into the air.
"They're up! And they got him!"Astrid shouted.
"Now that's a legendary dragon!"Dak whistled from atop Winger.
Leyla nodded. "Definitely."she said.
"Guys meet the famed Shadow Fury, Nightwing."Vanish introduced the black dragon beside her and Toothless.
"Nice to meet you Nightwing!"Leyla said as Dak nodded in agreement.
The group of dragons flew back to the island of Berk as Nightwing faced the group with an expression of determination.
"Now, let's go get us a Shadow Rider. My Rider."Nightwing stated.
