A/N: Hey everyone! I know I have a current story out right now, but this came to me yesterday, and I wanted to get it typed up and posted. I have not forgotten about my other story, and I will get to that. Matter of fact, I'll be working on that later today (it's currently 2:07am, my time, in the US, and I'll be going to bed as soon as I get this posted lol.) Anyways, just my take on Aaron and Emily as husband and wife, and Derek, Penelope, and JJ and Spencer as kids. The ages of the kids are as follows: Derek - 15, Penelope - 12, JJ and Spencer, twins - 7. I hope you guys like this, and I may continue this if I get some positive feedback, pretty please?
Well, I hope you enjoy, and if you guys have any ideas that you want to see in the story, please feel free to let me know! I will do my best to write the idea somewhere into the story! Thanks, and enjoy!

Chapter 1
"Hey Derek, sweetie, where's your father at?" A woman, average height, and with short black hair, asks her teenage son.
Derek looked over, seen his mom, "I think he's upstairs in the office. I'm not sure though."
"Thanks," Derek's mother replies, as she leaves the living room, and down the hallway towards the stairs. She reaches the third room on the left, and enters the office after giving a couple knocks. "Aaron?"
Aaron looks up from the computer, "Hey Emily, what's going?"
Emily walks over to the desk, she leans against it, and asks, "What do you think of surprising the kids with a dog?"
"I don't know Emily," Aaron tells her, unsure. "I don't think they're going to be responsible enough for a dog."
"I think they are. It'll for sure teach the younger kids responsibility," Emily tells him. "Besides, I kind of did a thing."
Aaron gives a look to his wife, "What thing?"
Emily gives a sigh, and tells her husband, "Well, it'll be easier if I just show you."
"Emily," Aaron exasperated. "What on earth did you do?"
"Just follow me," Emily tells him, walking towards the door.
Aaron, sighs and gets up off the chair and follows his wife out the door and down the hall towards the stairs. They go through the hall after reaching the bottom of the stairs, and make a quick turn towards the kitchen and out the door leading to the garage. Emily goes over and opens the back of the car door, and shows her husband.
"This. This is what I did," Emily tells him.
"Emily Elizabeth," Aaron tells her, stunned. "Why did you even ask if you brought home a dog anyways?"
"Aaron, I know we were going to talk about it," Emiy starts telling him. "But, she just looked so sad, being in that shelter. She's house broken, the name is Gracie, and she's only a year old."
"Gosh Emily, I thought we agreed on holding off on pets," Aaron asks her, rubbing his face with his hand.
"I know, and I'm sorry. But look at her! She's so adorable. How can you not like that face?" Emily asks, picking the puppy up out of the back seat.
"Alright, I guess there's no turning back, let's take her inside," Aaron tells his wife, reaching over to pet the dog on the head.
"No, no there's not." Emily grins, then follows her husband inside the house.
Aaron went and called the kids into the living room, while Emily got everything settled for the dog. Placing the food and water bowls along the wall by the bar. Once she got most of the dog's supplies put down, she picks the dog up, and waits to bring the dog into the living room. "Hun, are you ready?"
"Ready whenever you are," Emily calls back.
"Come on in here, kids are ready," Aaron tells his wife.
Emily walks into the living room, sees all her kids eyes are closed, grinning at the youngest two, who have their eyes closed tightly. Standing next to her husband, Emily tells the kids, "Alright, you may open your eyes."
All the kids slowly opened their eyes, looked at their parents and once they recognitioned that their mom had a dog in her arms, all the kids, well minus Derek, squealed in delight. "Mommy! We have a dog?" a little girl with blonde hair and blue eyes asks.
"We sure do JJ." Emily answers her daughter. "This dog is a mutt, which means she is part beagle, and part retriever, the people I got her from, thinks. She's a year old and her name is Gracie."
"Mommy! She's so cute!" JJ tells her mom excitedly.
A little boy, the same age as JJ, walks up to both his parents, "We really get to keep her?"
"Yes Spencer, we really do," Aaron confirms to his young son.
"Hmm...okay! I really do like her already. She's pretty," Spencer tells both his parents, reaching over to pet the dog.
Emily looks over at her oldest two kids, "What do you two think? Derek, Penelope?"
"I like her!" Penelope answers, as she also got up to go pet the dog.
"She's cute," Derek answers, "I'll get acquainted with her later, after the kids are done overwhelming her."
Aaron looks at his kids, clears his throat, "there's going to be some rules regarding the dog."
"What are the rules daddy?" the youngest daughter asks.
Aaron looks at the seven year old, "Well, it's going to be up to you kids to help feed her, and take her outside, in the backyard. She'll have to go on some walks. So, you two, JJ and Spencer, are not allowed to take the dog for a walk by yourselves, either Derek, or your mother or I will be with you. Same goes with you too Penelope."
"Yes sir," The kids all replied.
Emily sets the dog down, and the whole family watches the young dog sniff around, getting used to the house. "We do have a few toys for her, just a few, we'll go buy other toys this weekend."
"Let's take her outside!" JJ suggested, jumping up and downl
"Yeah! Let's go!" Spencer agreed excitedly.
All the kids, except for Derek, went outside to play with the new dog. Emily got up with the three kids and followed them outside. Derek stands up and faces his dad, "I'm going to go upstairs, I have homework, I need to finish."
"All right," Aaron tells him, watching his oldest go up the stairs to his room.
Meanwhile, outside, Emily was watching, her three youngest chasing the dog, or vice versa. She was enjoying watching the kids laugh and play with the new dog. A few minutes later, Aaron comes walking out of the house, and walking up behind his wife, Aaron wraps his arms around Emily, and kisses the top of her head. Emily turns around, still in her husband's arms. "I love you Aaron Hotchner."
"I love you too Emily Hotchner. I also love our family, even our new addition, Gracie, I think she'll fit in just fine." Aaron tells his wife, as he looks up out into the yard and watches the three kids playing with Gracie. Aaron and Emily each sit in a chair, facing the kids, and just holding each other's hands. The seven year old girl, comes running up to her parents and tells them,
"Mommy, daddy, thanks for getting Gracie. I love her already."
"Your welcome princess. We are glad that you do, it looks like Gracie loves you too," Emily tells JJ, pulling her daughter onto her lap.
JJ wraps her arms around her mother, "I love you mommy."
"I love you too princess," Emily responds, kissing the top of her daughter's head.
JJ scrambles off of her mom, and goes over to her dad, also climbing onto his lap, "I love you daddy."
"I love you too baby girl," Aaron tells her, hugging his daughter back, and also kissing her on top of her head.
The little blonde girl climbed off her dad and went back to playing with the dog and her siblings. Aaron looks towards his wife, "What do you say to grilling out tonight? Maybe invite Dave over?"
"I'm good with that, sounds like a plan. Grill burgers and hotdogs?" Emily agrees.
"Sounds good, I'll go give Dave a call," Aaron tells her, standing up.
Emily gives a nod of her head, and watches her husband head inside, pulling out his cell phone as he shut the back door. Emily turns her focus back on the kids, she decides to get up and walk over to them, and also play with the new family dog. "Mommy, watch this!" Emily heard her youngest son say.
"I'm watching," Emily tells him.
Spencer picks up the toy, and throws it across the yard, and the dog chases after the toy and brings it back to the young boy. The seven year old picks the toy up from the dog, and waves it in the air towards his mom, "See mommy! She can play catch!"
"That's great Spence," Emily tells him enthusiastically.
"Hey mom, where'd dad go?" Penelope, the oldest daughter asks her mom.
Emily looks over at her oldest daughter, and replies, "He went inside to make a phone call to Dave, we're grilling out tonight, and he's asking him if he wants to come over."
"Uncle Dave is coming over?" JJ asks excitedly.
Laughing at her daughters excitement, Emily responds, "I'm not sure. Your dad is going to ask him."
"I hope he does! He can meet Gracie!" JJ tells her mom, with a hopeful look on her face.
"Yes he can. But we'll see," Emily tells her. "All right kiddos, let's go inside, let Gracie wind down. You three need to go get cleaned up. Especially you two, JJ and Spencer."
"Awe, mommy, do we have too?" JJ whines.
Emily nods her head, "Yes, you do. Your clothes are filthy. Come now, inside."
All three kids, unwillingly walked towards the house. Emily reached the back door, and held it open for the kids, making sure they took their shoes off at the door. Penelope quickly ran upstairs to get to the bathroom first, then the twins went down the hall and up the stairs to their rooms. Emily, looked down at the dog, "You must be worn out Miss Gracie. Let's put some water in your bowl, and give you some food."
Emily went and filled the water bowl and the food bowl up for Gracie. Gracie, didn't waste any time drinking up the water. "You must have been a thirsty girl. Don't drink too fast." Emily tells the dog.
"Dave is in for a cookout, I'll run to the store real quick to get some hamburger and whatever else we'll need," Aaron tells his wife, as he walks over to her.
"Sounds good. I think just burgers, and hotdogs, and a few different chips will be just fine, it's just us, and Dave. Is Erin coming along?" Emily tells him.
"I'm not sure. He didn't mention it, so I doubt it." Aaron relays. He walks over to the counter and picks up his wallet and keys. Just as he was putting his wallet in his pocket, his oldest walks into the kitchen.
"Where're you going?" Derek asks.
"I'm heading to the store, we're going to grill out tonight. Uncle Dave is coming over," Aaron answers his oldest. "Do you want to come with me?"
Derek shrugs his shoulders, "I guess so. It'll get me out of the house."
"Go get your shoes on, and I'll meet you out in the car." Aaron tells him, walking towards the garage door.
Derek did as he was told and walked out of the kitchen and down the hall towards the foyer. He picked up his shoes and walked to the living room and sat down on the couch and put his shoes on.
"Derek, where are you going?" one of the twins asks with interest.
Once he tied one shoe, he picked up the other, and looked over at his brother, "I'm going with dad to the store."
Spencer looks at his brother and contemplates what he told him, "Oh. Well, can I come with you?"
"Sorry bro, it's just dad and I." Derek tells him, tying his other shoe.
"Oh, okay." Spencer replies, sadly.
Derek stands up, and before walking out, he tells his little brother, "Maybe with I get back, we can go outside and play some basketball, would you like that?"
"Yeah!" Spencer tells him. "I'm not very good, but I want to."
"We will play once I get back," Derek promises his brother. "I'll be back, I have to go now."
"Okay, bye Derek," Spencer tells him, turning his attention to a book that was sitting next to him.
Penelope had come into the living room and turned the tv on, turning it to the Disney channel, That's So Raven was on, and she left it on. A few minutes later JJ comes into the living room, looks at the TV and faces her sister. "Penelope, do you want to color with me?"
"No, I'm watching TV," Penelope tells her, not bothering to look at her sister.
"Please Penny?" JJ begs, holding her hands up in front over and interlocking her fingers.
"I said no. Now leave me be," Penelope tells her, annoyed.
JJ huffs and folds her arms across her chest. She turns around and stomps out of the living room. She goes and finds her mom in the kitchen getting bowls and seasonings out for dinner. Emily looks over at her youngest daughter, "What's wrong sweetheart?"
"Mommy, Penelope won't color with me," JJ tells her matter of factly.
"Well, did you ask her nicely?" Emily asks her, walking over to the young girl.
JJ nods her head, "Yes, I said please, and she wouldn't color with me. Can you make her?"
"Sweetheart, you can't make someone do what you want them to do, no matter how much you want them to do something with you. If Penelope doesn't want to color, then she doesn't have too." Emily tells her.
"But mommy," JJ starts, with a hint of a whine.
"JJ, don't start. I'm not going to make Penelope do something she doesn't want to do." Emily sternly tells her.
"Fine!" JJ angrily replies, she stomps her foot, and starts to walk out of the room.
"Jennfier, you can march your butt right over here and plant your butt in this chair," Emily sternly tells her, as she pulls a chair from the table and puts it in the corner.
JJ looks at her mom angrily, "I don't want too."
"Jennifer Joy, I'm not going to ask you again. March your butt right over here, you can sit in time out for seven minutes." Emily tells her, not giving in to her daughter's antics.
JJ stomps her feet angrily as she walks towards the chair. She faces her mom and gives her the meanest look she could muster up. Emily just points to the chair, and waits for her daughter to sit down. JJ finally gave in, and sat down in the chair. She starts kicking at the wall, until her mom tells her to quit it. Not even five seconds later, she goes back to kicking the wall.
"Jennifer, I'm not going to ask you again. Sit still and quit kicking the wall, or you'll be sitting in time out till your father gets home." Emily tells her about being fed up with her daughter.
The little blonde just huffs, and crosses her arms back across her chest. JJ, getting tired of just sitting still, starts to swing her legs, she stops mid swing when she hears her mom. "If you kick that wall one more time, I promise you, you'll be there till your father gets home. I'm not kidding JJ."
"I w-wasn't going too," JJ honestly tells her mom.
Emily watches her youngest a few minutes longer before she goes back to getting things ready to start preparing for dinner once her husband gets home. A few minutes later goes by, and Emily takes a look at her watch. Seeing that it's been just over seven minutes, she walks over to her youngest, kneels down so she's eye level with her daughter, "You can get up now. No more getting mad, just because someone doesn't want to do what you want to do."
JJ just looks her mom in the eyes, she looks down and slowly nods her head yes, indicating that she heard what her mom told her. "Mommy, I'm sorry. I really am." JJ tells her mom, tears in her eyes.
"I know you are," Emily tells her, then she moves the chair around, sits down and places her daughter on her lap. "I think you may have to go to bed early tonight."
"I don't want to," JJ tells her.
Emily gives a sigh, runs her hand through her daughters long blonde hair, "We'll see how it goes tonight. Deal?"
JJ nods her head, looks at her mom, "Deal."
"Now, no more arguing. You hear me?" Emily tells her sternly.
"Yes. I won't," JJ promises. The little girl turns to face her mom while still sitting on her lap, and wraps her arms around her mom. "I love you mommy, and I'm sorry."
"I love you too princess, I know you are," Emily tells the young girl, wrapping her arms around her daughter.
JJ let go of her mom, and got down off her lap, she decided to go into the living room and color by herself, and not bother her sister anymore. Emily watched her daughter leave the dining room, and put the chair, she had just vacated back to the table. She looked over just in time to see her husband and oldest son walk into the kitchen through the garage door.
"Do you guys need any help?" Emily asks them, walking over to grab the grocery bags out of her son's hands.
"No, we got it, there aren't many ways." Aaron tells her, "Derek, you want to go get the last bag?"
"Yeah, I can," Derek answers, then he walks out and goes get the last bag from the store out of the vehicle.
While Derek was doing that, Both Aaron and Emily emptied the bags out, and left the meat on the counter, and put the chips and things away, until they were needed. "How were the kids while I was gone?" Aaron asks, opening a package of ground beef.
"They were fine. JJ on the other hand, started to throw a fit. Made her sit in timeout to cool down," Emily tells him.
"What happened?"
"Well, let's just say she got upset because Penelope wouldn't color with her. Then she wanted me to make Penelope color with her, and got mad because I wouldn't make Penelope color with her." Emily informed him.
"Want me to have a talk with her?" Aaron offered.
"That's okay, I already did. Told her that I couldn't make Penelope do anything if she doesn't want to do anything. Which also told her the same thing, she can't get mad and pretty much force someone to do something with her." Emily tells him, then puts the seasonings away after Aaron used them. "I did warn her that if she put up a fight with anyone tonight, then she was going to bed early."
"Sounds like you got everything taken care of then," Aaron grins at his wife. Once he got the ground beef mixed up, he started forming the patties. "Oh, Dave will be here soon, probably in about five to ten minutes, and he is bringing Erin."
"Sounds good. Oh okay, I was wondering if he was going to bring her." Emily tells him.
For the next few minutes, Aaron and Emily, were finishing up getting things ready. Aaron went out the back door with the charcoal in hand, and went and started to light up the grill after pouring in the charcoal. All the kids were doing their own thing, whether playing with the new dog, or doing some activity, and just keeping busy until dinner was ready. Emily, got the lemonade mix out, and the pitcher and started to make some lemonade for the kids. Once everything was ready to go, Aaron and Emily just chilled out in the living room, and waited for Dave to arrive.
