"Man, sorry about the test," Musa apologized, kicking her now-empty duffle bag to the side.
Tecna shrugged. "It doesn't really matter," she said while unpacking the small boxes of accessories. "We can always retake when we're not so exhausted."
"Yeah, that mission was crazy," agreed the music fairy, flopping down onto her bed with a huff. She folded her hands behind her head and crossed her legs, watching her roommate organize her belongings.
It was a relaxing habit she had developed over the years. Tecna was a perfectionist, and everything she did was methodical and deliberate. Over time, Musa had come to appreciate the careful patterns in everything the techno fairy did.
Her phone started ringing, their most recent hit song playing loudly. It garnered both of their attention, glancing at the device in curiosity. Musa reached over and glanced at the screen, frowning at the caller ID. She sighed, rejected the call and fell back, phone still clutched her hand.
Tecna rested her cheek in her palm, thinking. As the Winx had gotten older, their powers had developed in different ways, and they could use them without thinking or transforming. Stella automatically glowed in dark spaces, while Flora could connect to almost any plant effortlessly. Tecna now had the ability to hack into electronic devices subconsciously and monitor the activity. Seeing Riven pop up on the caller ID worried the fairy, but not so much as seeing Musa's reaction to it.
Determined to cheer her up, the purple haired girl strolled purposefully over to the music fairy's speaker. It wasn't too familiar to her, since she didn't use it all that much, but she had seen Musa work it enough times and could rely on her evolved abilities to figure it out. Sure enough, in a few seconds a catchy beat was playing. She turned to her roommate and smiled, holding out a hand.
Musa grinned, taking the outstretched hand and pulling herself up. Seeing the uptight, work-first-play-later fairy offering to dance with her just to cheer her up was the sweetest thing that had happened in a while.
The music took hold of her, and suddenly they were dancing, hips shaking and heads bouncing. Tecna's movements were a bit rigid, but it was to be expected and Musa paid it no mind. Instead, she focused on releasing the pent-up stress and hurt inside of her, bopping freestyle, eyes closed, mind empty save for the music.
They danced for a while before Flora peeked in and asked them to keep it down; the plants were sleeping. Musa nodded and shot a beam of energy at the stereo, shutting it off. Exhausted, the two fairies collapsed on the techno fairy's bed together. Tecna glanced at the music fairy. "Feeling better?"
"Yeah," replied Musa, breathing heavily and meeting her gaze. "Thanks for that," she murmured, pulling Tecna close against her body. She smiled when the other wrapped her arms around her, snuggling against her chest.
For a while they lay like that, spooning each other in silence. Tecna broke the peace. "What about Riven?" she asked quietly, almost scared.
Musa tensed. "I don't know," she admitted. "He's definitely gonna freak when he hears about you and me and Timmy, and I don't think that would do anything to help the Specialists." A heavy sigh escaped. "I just…don't want things to end up worse than they did last time, y'know?"
Tecna pondered that. "It was his decision to re-enroll in Red Fountain," she said carefully, "and we still don't know how he feels about you. Maybe he just wants to be friends. And if not, it's not your fault you don't have feelings for him anymore." She paused. "Do you?"
"I'm not sure." Musa spoke softly. "But I know that we parted on good terms, and then every attempt I made at keeping in touch was denied. He cut me off," the music fairy reiterated. "Any feeling I have right now towards him is anger." Tecna snuggled closer.
Neither of them said anything after that, lost in their own thoughts. It was Musa who finally spoke again. "It doesn't matter now," she muttered. She smiled to herself. "I have you and Timmy, and the Winx, and that's all I need." The blue haired fairy settled into the soft mattress, tired. She murmured out one last "goodnight" and closed her eyes, sinking into her dream world.
Tecna focused her energy on the lights, and shut them off. The room lit only by the stars, the fairy of technology followed her girlfriend's suit and was soon fast asleep.
Was watching S8 just for shits and giggles, saw that scene and thought "Aha, that is cute and I ship it." Thus, this was born. To be clear, I already shipped MusaxTecna, but something else in my headcannon for them is that after Riven left, Tecna, Timmy, and Musa got into a polyamourous relationship. It's definitely something I want to explore, but as we all know, I'm shit at romance.
Anyways, leave a review to let me know what you think!
