I awoke to my loud and obnoxious alarm. Another long day of school ahead of me. If I could quit school and substitute it with online school, I for sure would. The thought of me having to socialize with people I really didn't like irritates me. But oh well I would have to get over it if I want a good education. I crawl out of my bed, put my house shoes on, and head downstairs to make some breakfast. As I reached for the box of Lucky Charms (practically the best cereal ever invented), my father walked into the kitchen to make the daily coffee.
"Good morning kiddo." he said in his nonchalant tone.
"Morning dad." I replied
"Your mother and I will be home late tonight. We have a big staff meeting at the firm so don't wait up for us."
The firm, I thought to myself. It always has to be that stupid firm. First they miss my soccer games and now they're not even at their own house. Too bad my parents own the largest law company in Indiana.
"Oh ok, that's cool." I was obviously lying.
Moments later, my mother hurriedly walks into the kitchen and takes her coffee on the go.
"Honey we're going to be late let's get a move on. Oh good morning Alexis." She said as she briskly kissed me on the cheek. "Me and your father are going to be late- "
"Yep I was just informed mom."
"Ok well love you and dinner is in the fridge just heat it up in the oven." She said quickly.
"M-hmm love you mom." I said as she and my father walked out the door.
I finished my Lucky Charms, put on my school uniform and a decent amount of makeup just because. I then jogged down the stairs and grabbed my car keys to my little yellow Volkswagen.
Fifteen minutes later, I arrived to the infamous Indianapolis Prepatory School home to the most stuck up and privileged kids in the city. Trust me I'm not one of them. I parked my car in the student section and headed towards the building only to be met halfway by my best friend in the whole world.
"Lexie! Did you happen to finish the bio homework? I'm in dire need of some answers right about now." She said.
"Good morning to you too Emily and yes you can grab it out of the folder in my backpack."
"Thanks bud you're a lifesaver." Right as she took the papers, the notorious school bell rung.
"Crap I'm going to be late to calculus, see you at lunch." I said.
"See ya." She replied.
I started to speed walk to my calc class in hopes of me getting there in time. Luckily my teacher was late as well so I slipped into the classroom and into my assigned seat. Other students in my classroom were up visiting with each other. Unfortunately, Emily is not in my class since I'm a math ahead of her (not to brag). Where is Mr. Williams he's never late, I thought to myself. Just as I thought that, he immediately walked in.
"Good morning ladies and gentlemen." He said firmly. The class replied back with a mumble.
"For those of you who don't know, we have a new student joining us today. He transferred from the great state of Utah. Now let's give him a warm Indianapolis Prep welcome. Come on in Mr. Moore." He said with a sarcastic tone. Moments later, I look down at the ground and see black high top Converse. I focus my vision from the ground up and see a tall brown curly headed boy. I was mesmerized. I stared a bit longer and analyzed his features. He had to be the love of my life.
"Everyone, this is Gabriel Moore and I expect we treat him with kindness. Do you want to introduce yourself further Gabriel?" Mr. Williams asked.
"It's just Gabe." He said with his deep monotone voice.
"Well 'just Gabe', how about you take a seat. Anywhere is fine. Also could you please tuck in your shirt so you can align with your new dress code."
"Yeah whatever." He replied and tucked in his shirt. I watched him walk over to the desk next to me and sit. He immediately untucked his shirt I'm assuming to rebel against Mr. Williams and the dress code. I gazed in his direction and he eventually gazed in mine. We made eye contact. Oh how I hate eye contact. It made me so uncomfortable. Nervously to break the tension I said to him quietly, "Hi I'm Alexis."
"Do you need something?" He said dryly.
"Uh no n- never mind." I replied with embarrassment. What a jerk, I thought to myself. I suddenly didn't feel as if Gabriel Moore was the love of my life.
