This was it was all I could think as everything around me looked worse and worse the more I noticed. All around me was destruction as far as I could see. Fire and rubble it was like I was at ground zero of some bomb or something like that. Was there anyone else here, or was I all alone as some sort of lone wanderer? I started to take off in a direction and see what I could find to explain what happened. And for the next minute, I walked until I saw something on the ground ahead of me.

I got closer to inspect it and upon realization, I nearly puked at the sight and stench of it. Laid out in front of me like a huge area covered in blood. It looked like a group of around twenty people were laid down and blown up. While I had never been queasy from blood there was too much of it for me to handle. I looked around to see if whatever left that mess was near. Looking all around me I saw nothing that could have caused it just the same fire and rubble, no limbs or any guts thankfully. Shuffling around it, I didn't want to step on it. Right now I needed to get away from that horrible stench

As I continued past the fire and destruction I noticed something in the distance. Taking a step closer it was a figure. I couldn't see who it was but all I didn't want to be alone here, they could also have answers to what happened. I called out to them but they didn't answer, I yelled again but still, no response.

I needed to find out what happened so I began to run towards them however before I could reach them the ground in front of me exploded in flames. I didn't have time to stop and so I fell right into the fire.

Of course, I would die this way. Was the last thought that ran through my mind before everything went black.

I heard a loud beeping noise to my right and then I realized that it was all a dream. Sitting up I looked all around and there wasn't a single bit of fire or debris around. With a deep sigh, I turned off my alarm. My stomach didn't feel good it felt like I was going to throw up at any moment. In response, I grabbed the nearby trash can and stuck my head over it. Nothing came out after a minute and I laid back down.

Laying in bed I considered saying I was sick but I remembered I had a quiz sixth hour today and realized it would be best not to miss it. It was weird everything felt real almost. Maybe I was lucid dreaming or something but why would I be in such a weird location, besides I had never tried to do that kind of stuff before. Maybe I just played too many violent games that I had such an environment for a dream.

Getting out of bed I glanced over at the clock and saw the time was 7:30. Checking my phone I saw that today was Friday. School started in an hour but I had plenty of time to get ready. Going about my business I changed my clothes and fixed up my bed. When I was done with that I noticed my 3DS sitting on the nightstand. Suddenly I recalled that I had caught a shiny last night before going to bed.

Opening it up, I saw that my copy of Pokemon Omega Ruby was still running. My character was in a Pokemon Center. Looking through the boxes I scrolled to the last one and I saw the most recent pokemon at the end of the list. There was a shiny ralts, and I went to look at its stats, it looked good although they could've been better. While I wasn't some super competitive player I just enjoyed looking at those kinds of things. It was nice anyways catching such a rare shiny pokemon, I noticed that it was a male meaning I was going to have a shiny gardevoir. I preferred gallade but I didn't have a gardevoir anyways so it didn't matter too much.

Looking at the clock on the wall again this time it read 7:45. I closed my 3DS and plugged in the charger. I finally got out of my room and walked across the hall into the bathroom. Shutting the door behind me I quickly did my business and flushed. With that done I looked at the mirror. Staring back at me was a 16-year-old teenager with blonde hair and glasses. He didn't have much in the way of muscles but he also wasn't fat, and that teenager's name was David Rise, also known as me.

I brushed my teeth and did a few other things to make myself presentable for school. Stepping out of the bathroom and back into my bedroom, I grabbed my bags and headed downstairs to leave for school. My stomach still felt a little queasy so I was gonna skip on breakfast today. When I got to the bottom I saw my mom was standing there waiting for me.

"You're not having any breakfast today? You also look like you stayed up a little too late playing games again," She muttered that last part under her breath but I chose to ignore it.

"Nah, I'm not that hungry," I answered her question, I didn't want to tell her how I felt sick or why for that matter.

"Alright fine, but you better take a snack with you just in case." She told me.

Groaning I stepped into the kitchen and grabbed a granola bar to satisfy her. Looking over I saw her smile a little as I dropped it in my bag. With that, I opened the door and waved to my mom who waved right back. Outside it was nice as the weather was starting to warm up.

Fairfield was a nice town and it wasn't too big or too small so I thought it was just right. While I was old enough to drive I saw little reason to do that, as the school wasn't far away. Continuing to walk I felt a tap on my shoulder and I turned to see my friend Zach. Zach was shorter than me, had messy black hair and was my best friend.

"Woah David, are you alright?" He asked me.

"Yeah, I'm fine Zach, what's wrong?" I asked back.

"Well, you just look a little pale, and your eyes are all baggy. Did you stay up late last night?" He had a somewhat smug look on his face.

"Yeah I did," I answered with a sheepish smile.

Zach remained silent for a moment as he looked up and down my body before he returned to looking back at the sidewalk in front of us.

"I didn't see you online last night so I'm guessing you were playing pokemon?" Zach guessed.

I answered with a simple nod of my head.

"Ugh, I don't get it, you're 16 and you still play Pokemon!" Zach complained.

Zach had always been confused by my enjoyment of the series but the past few months he started to get hostile about it. I had no idea why he had gotten like this but I didn't argue with him about it. We continued to walk in silence until we got to school. At the entrance, we walked past other students until we had to go our separate ways.

"I'll see you later," I said to Zach as I turned left.

In response, he just glared at me silently. I didn't think about what had just happened as I walked into my first-hour class. Thankfully the first hour was simple and fifty minutes later the bell ringed and I walked out. Now I had a free period which meant I could catch up on some work I had put off.

Walking down the hallway I noticed a few people were giving me weird looks as I walked by, but none stopped to talk to me. After a minute of walking, I stood just outside my destination. While most students went to the study hall area for their free period I had asked my history teacher, Ms. Skylar, if I could work in her room. It also helped that I wouldn't have to go far as I would have her third hour for my world history class. Opening the door I saw she was sitting at her desk doing some work.

Ms. Skylar was in her mid-thirties, she was one of the younger teachers here and surprisingly she had gone to school with my dad and mom despite being younger than both of them by a few years. I've never got around to asking either of them about it but it never bothered me too much.

"Ah, how are you, David?" She asked me.

"I'm fine mostly, people have been saying I look sick but I don't feel like it," I answered.

"Yeah, you do look a little sick now that you mention it. Do you need to go to the office or want some medicine?" Ms. Skylar offered me.

"No thanks, I'll just work on some things."

Walking to the table I usually sit at I pulled out a chair and sat down. The room had a bunch of things on it from posters about wars to a map of the United States and another of the world. Rummaging through my bag I pulled out a textbook and my homework and began to work on it.

Another thing I was always curious about Skylar was her ring. I had to admit that it was gorgeous, it always appeared extremely shiny and various gems were sticking out of it. While I didn't understand women and jewelry, she was single and didn't have a ton of money. Either she got the ring by inheritance or stealing it. Whenever someone brought it up she got extremely defensive so I never dared ask her not wanting to get on her bad side.

I had been working for about ten minutes when I felt a weird tingling feeling with my arm, causing me to drop my pencil. It hit the ground and I saw Ms. Skylar glance up but she quickly returned to her computer. I bent down to grab to my phone, but when I reached my arm out I froze.

My right hand was extremely pale to the point it was more fitting to call it a pure white. I grabbed my pencil and placed it back on the desk. Gazing at my hand I was shocked at just how white it was. I needed to get somewhere private for a minute so I could get a better look

"Hey, Ms. Skylar can I go to the bathroom?" I asked trying to hide my panic

She looked up at me and nodded. That was all I needed as I shot out of my seat keeping my hand in my pocket. Using my left hand to open the door I stepped out into the barren hallway. Thankfully a bathroom was nearby and I slipped inside happy that it was empty. Still, to err on the side of caution I slipped inside a stall. Sitting down I pulled my hand out and pulled my shirt sleeve down to see what was going on.

It seemed that only a part of my right arm was paler than the rest but as I watched I noticed that it seemed to slowly be spreading. Suddenly pain shot through my right hand and I clenched my teeth to prevent screaming. Looking down I could barely watch as I saw what looked like my fingers merging. It was hard to watch and keep silent as I quietly mouthed off expletives.

A moment later the pain turned bearable as I looked at my hand. I gasped when I saw that I no longer had a normal-looking hand. Instead of five fingers I now only had 3 finger-like digits that felt awkward to bend. My hand was now much smaller and soft to the touch, I never had tough hands but this was almost as smooth as a baby's.

I need to get home ASAP. I thought to myself when I realized that I had been in the bathroom for a bit of time. I needed to get back before Skyler wondered where I went. Shoving my hand back in my pocket and pulling my sleeve down I peered out of the stall to make sure no one had entered. Once I saw the coast was clear I got back to her room without any issues. Opening the door to her room and stepping inside she immediately spoke up.

"Hello David, I see you're finally back from the bathroom, do you mind answering why you were gone for so long?" She asked me with a little bit of coldness in her voice.

I didn't know how to answer her question, I couldn't tell her the truth.

"Oh um nothing just a little struggle," I answered so poorly, that her stare turned to a slight glare.

"David it's quite obvious you aren't telling the truth." She looked at my hand stuck in my pocket. "What do you have in your pockets, I want to see them," She demanded.

I gulped as I realized that there was no way of getting out of this.

"Fine, but promise me you won't tell anyone or freakout?" I asked.

"If it doesn't violate school rules you," She replied.

I took a deep breath and let out a hearty sigh. "Alright, but you promised," I said as I stuck my hand out of my pocket and held it up.

Skylar had a somewhat-surprised look on her face, but she wasn't horrified or shocked at the sight. She grabbed my hand and began to thoroughly inspect it before pulling up my sleeve exposing my arm to her. After a minute of staring and reviewing she clicked her tongue before saying something.

"David, can you call your dad for me?" She asked.

I didn't know why she was asking that, I presumed to send me home.

"Oh, yeah I can do that for you."

Pulling out my phone I used my left hand to awkwardly pull up my contacts and I dialed for my dad before handing it to her. After a moment she began to speak.

"Hey Mark, are you there? Yes, Mark, it's me, Skylar. Why am I calling you? Well, David here is dealing with his hormones. Describe it, I'm pretty sure it's his mom's side he has a white hand and three fingers. Mhmm, you'll be here soon, good. You're gonna take him to Wilson Woods yourself? Are you sure you don't want me to call the PRT?"

As Skylar continued to talk with my dad I could only sit there confused. What really confused me was her comment about this being my mom's side, I had no idea what she had to do with this? Something else that was weird was them mentioning Wilson Woods and some sort of PRT? All I knew was Wilson Woods was some forest two hours away, and I had no idea what the heck a PRT was? I looked at my hand to see that it looked like it had spread down my arm a bit and sighed again.

Just what was going on. I thought to myself.

"What, are you crazy you can't take him there by yourself," She hissed at the phone which caught me off guard. "What happens if you get caught?" She groaned, before looking back at me.

"Fine, I'm going with you. I beat the Elite Four so you know I'm the stronger one between us," Skylar said.

With that last statement, I was even more confused. Elite Four, was such a weird name that I had only heard in pokemon. Whatever she said next could not get any weirder. All I wanted was an explanation for what was happening to me.

"Alright remember pineapple pizza is fine with root beer, I'll see you soon." With that, she hanged up and turned around and gave me back my phone.

After hearing everything she had said I could only muster one appropriate reaction.

"What the fuck?"

"Oh don't swear David, if you were still going here I would punish you but you're not anymore so I'll let it slide." Skylar giggled.

"Wait, what do you mean I'm not going here anymore?" I asked.

Skylar just ignored me and continued to talk. "Listen, Mark's gonna be here in about 10 minutes he has probably already called to excuse you. I'll be with you in a few, I just need to fake an illness or something else." She had a tiny smile with that last bit.

"Alright, now for the serious stuff, you need to gather your things and head to the entrance where Mark will pick us up. Do not show your hand to anyone. Another thing I need to stress, don't talk to anyone. The last thing I need you to do if you see your dad, ask him about pineapple pizza. He has to answer, "it's fine with root beer," if he doesn't answer with that, find me he's not your dad. Any questions David?" She asked me.

While I understood her instructions, some of it made no sense, why did my dad have to respond with that, and what did she mean by it not being him if he didn't?

"When will you ever explain what's happening to me?" I asked trying to hide my annoyance.

"All in due time, but for now you gotta go," She answered.

She walked over to the phone and gestured me to go. I slung my bag over my left shoulder, and I hid my right hand in my pocket. Stepping out of her classroom I turned to the right and made my way down to the exit. However, I flinched when I turned a corner and nearly ran straight into Zach.

"Woah, David you nearly ran straight into me," He said in surprise.

"Yeah, sorry about that," I apologized.

Zach scanned me up and down. "What's up with the backpack, you going home or something?" He asked.

I suddenly remembered what Skylar had said and I froze, however, I had to answer him now. Just improvise "Uh, kinda, I have a doctor's appointment," I lied.

Looking at Zach I noticed his gaze was fixated on my arm, more specifically my right hand shoved into my pocket, crap.

"What's in your pocket?" Zach directed a glare towards me.

"Nothing," I blurted.

Zach didn't buy it for a second and before I knew it he had a tight squeeze around my arm. I dropped my bag and used my left arm to grab back.

"Zach what are you doing!"

However I got no response as he pulled my sleeve and arm, I couldn't let him see. I tried my hardest but I was losing my grip, I had no idea how strong he was and I was on the verge of losing grip. Suddenly he tore my arm and hand up into the air from my pocket exposing the white limb to him, I noticed that it was nearing my elbow.

"You're one of them!" Zach seethed and his grip tightened even harder.

I struggled to get him to let go and I saw that he was reaching for something in his pocket. In desperation, I began to kick but it was futile as he didn't even flinch.

"Let go of him, Zach!" A familiar voice yelled out.

Looking at Zach I saw his eyes were no longer focused on me but instead at the person who yelled at him, but in those eyes, I saw what look like pure hatred. Turning to the source of the voice I had thought it was Ms. Skylar, my jaw dropped at what I saw.

Instead of Ms. Skylar my human teacher, I saw a large brown and white bird. With white markings, yellow sharp talons, and a rid tipped crest over its head, there was no doubt of what it was. Standing in front of me was a staraptor, it was a pokemon, but pokemon were fake, creatures in a video game and many other things, but now, standing before us was a pokemon something that shouldn't be real.

I didn't know how to react when the staraptor opened its beak. "Sorry David, but I'm here now."

That voice was the same as Ms. Skylar's but that couldn't be true, she was a human, not some pokemon. Something shiny around its neck got my attention, a silver chain and on it was a ring, the same ring Ms. Skylar was protective about.

I couldn't believe it, my teacher was a pokemon.

Hello, the first chapter of a new story I'm really excited about! As I said at the very beginning Pokeuman is the idea of pokemonmanic3595 on DeviantArt. Pokeumans has been around for about 10 years now. However February the group decided to be "archived" which means that they were no longer going to work on new stories. The reason I post my story hear to FA is for two reasons, the first is that my original version of this story sucks. The second reason is that I have a chance to finish the story on this site. I would love to hear any feedback and criticism.
