The Canceled Riding Lesson Part 1
On a cool spring Saturday morning in late March early April, Lisa Atwood was getting her school horse, Lady Louise ready for that morning's riding lesson.
When Elizabeth Regnery or as the students at Pine Hollow called her, Missis Reg came into the stable.
"Lisa, please untack Lady Louise and put her back in her stall." Elizabeth said.
"Untack Lady Louise and put her back in her stall? But why, Missis Reg?" Lisa asked.
"Join the others in the lounge, Lisa, I will meet you there shortly." Elizabeth said kindly.
"Of course, Missis Reg." Lisa said.
Lisa untacked Lady Louise and put her back in her stall in the stable.
Then, Lisa joined the other Pine Hollow riding students in the lounge.
"What is all of this about, Lisa?" Stephanie Lake or as everyone else called her Stevie asked.
"I don't know, Stevie," Lisa said. "but I'm sure that Missis Reg will be here any moment to tell us."
"She'd better be," Veronica DiAngelo said in a haughty manner. "all of this waiting around is cutting into my private riding lesson time."
"Do you ever stop thinking about yourself, Veronica?" Carole Hanson asked.
Elizabeth entered the lounge where all of the riding students were gathered.
"I'm sorry to have to tell everyone this," Elizabeth said to the students. "but riding lessons for the next few days have been canceled."
The students all murmured among themselves.
Until Simon Atherton spoke up.
"What's going on, Missis Reg? How come our riding lessons have been canceled?" Simon asked.
"I won't lie to any of you, Max awoke with a cold this morning and he has to stay home in bed for a few days." Elizabeth said to the students calmly.
That was when Desiree Biggins or Desi for short spoke up.
