It had been hours since she had asked him, with his gullible attitude and sweet nature he would have never asked first. Connie, however, was much different. She was more human than him, and had truly realized what Steven needed after all of this stress. With just one study break and fifteen minutes in that break, she wanted it to count.

So, when Steven showed up to her house only seconds before her next break with those pure, exhausted eyes and the body language that spoke more honesty than his mouth, she knew exactly what to do.

By now, she should have been back at it, back at working on her brain power. But Steven's emotional state was too corrupted, she needed to spend time on this no matter what he said. How did it end up like this?

"Steven, as soon as you admit you have a problem, the sooner I can help. I just want to help you. If the gems can't do that just yet, let me." Connie proposed, sitting next to him on the bed, the sunlight of dusk illuminating the room in orange. She could tell he was close to breaking, his lip began to quiver and his skin turned that pink that she could recognize in a human's blush, though she wasn't so sure why it looked so light.

"I-I.. I'm not worth the effort. I'm just as bad as Mom, Connie. I'm already harming you by taking you away from your studying." Steven quivered, purposely avoiding eye contact while covering his chest with folded arms. Connie slapped her palms on his lap and looked up at him.

"You are way more important to me than studies." She stated, and it was true. Of course she cared for her one and only Jam Bud more than homework! He let a tear drop and it slapped into her hair. The sight almost made her cry, while the feeling of the heavy tear brought a shiver throughout her entire body.

"I'm so sorry." He apologized, more tears slipping through the cracks as he brushed her hair to wipe off the tears. Now his whole body was pink and his voice was breaking. She had only seen him like this once and did not want to go through that again. She took his chin and wiped the tears away, forcing him to finally stare her in the eyes.

"No more sorries, it's okay. It's okay." She smiled, embracing him in a hug that he was not expecting. Her arms covered his waist to his back, and her face was down right in the middle of his chest. She could hear his heart beating quicker than normal, but slowly fade back down to normal as she squeezed tighter. He had lost the pink as well.

"Thank you, Connie.. You're more than I deserve." He still didn't get it. She needed him to understand. This next line was going to sound weird but she wanted his absolute comfort. That's when her phone buzzed, and her break was up. "Well, you gotta get back to it. I'll be back tomorrow-"

"Take off your jacket." Connie almost commanded. Steven blushed a dark red and she helped him up. He was wearing his usual get up, minus the jeans which were replaced with casual sweats, something he must have gotten from his dad. As well as the shoes, black and pink sneakers.

"What, Why?" He sounded confused, that little high pitched noise in the back of his throat twinged as it did when he was surprised. She smiled warmly and laid down in the bed. The young woman wore much less, only the blouse she had worn occasionally, some blue shorts that went down to her mid thighs and pink socks. "You have to catch up on your stuff, Connie, I'm holding you back!" Steven explained, attempting to get up, only to find the girls legs snaked around his stomach. "Hey-"

"Steven, jacket. And while you're at it, shoes too." She did command this time, pulling him back down with her feet. He almost chuckled, she could feel it in his belly. Almost.

"Okay, okay.." With that, she released him, trusting that he would trust her. He removed the pink jacket, and then the sneakers, leaving him in white socks, his pants and the black Mr. Universe merch shirt. It was a cute look for the both of them.

"Now.. C'mere. Cuddle me. I don't think you've ever done that." Connie teased, holding open her arm as she patted the spot next to her. He looked like a tomato, he was so red! But, he decided to roll with it, slipping into the bed and eventually her arms, with his face directly under her neck and her arms linked firmly around his back. He held her waist back, just for good measure. "You don't have to tell me. But, please just feel okay." She whispered, brushing his curly, rough hair.

"That feels nice.. And I've been cuddled before!" He argued, holding her tighter when she giggled. A smile wrinkled to his face before she felt him jerk between her arms.

"Something wrong..?" Her question was answered when she heard sobbing, sniffling even. All she could do was rub his hair and lock him in with her legs. "Crying is okay, Steven, it means you're letting your emotions free. Just let it all out."

"Everyone.. They keep leaving m-me.. Please don't leave, I-I n-need you, Connie." Steven mumbled into her dark skin. Now both of them were crying. Connie let her tears fall down her cheek and into his hair, rubbing it to get it out. She looked down at him and he looked up in response. She leaned in and kissed his nose, her grip on his flesh almost hurting as much as his.

"I would sooner quit school than let a catch like you go~" Connie whispered. Just like that, he melted into her and fell asleep crying. After a few minutes, she decided she liked it better this way. Studying can wait.

And wait it did, several hours later and it was now night. Connie didn't sleep a second and instead admired the precious, adorable boy in her arms, holding him close to her breasts before kissing him about a dozen times on the head. He felt hot, probably their body heats, no cause for concern.

Maybe one day, when the time was right, she could ask him out and this would mean a lot more than it already does. Then again, maybe it already was like that and these two dorks couldn't admit what they had going on. She wanted to be his girlfriend, but did Steven even know what that was? She'd have to wait and see. For now, she buried her head into his neck and attempted to drift off to sleep herself, the warmth of his body and comfort of his soft skin was better than any pillow she could ask for.
