I do not own anything.
Author's Notes : I have been thinking about publishing some fanfictions for some time now. I have read a lot of fanfic, but every fanfic is either one of the two stereotypes, first one Ron-bashing or second one opposite of that and I got bored with it. I really wanted to read a fanfic showing him as an Introvert so here is it. The fanfiction revolves around Ron Weasley, but with a bit of twist.
Chapter 1
Somewhere in Scotland, on the shore of a lake stood a castle, The Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The sky was clear and the moon was shining on the castle, giving it a peaceful look. But suddenly at midnight all of sudden clouds began to gather above the castle, shadowing the moon and the temperature around the castle dropped suddenly. The clouds started to rumble and a green lightning struck after that the clouds started to diminish. After a couple of minutes there was no trace of any cloud in the sky, but the moon did seem slightly red.
Ronald Weasley woke up to the sound of the lightning in the dark in his bed. He was breathing heavily. He tried to remember what had happened. The last thing he remembered before waking up was falling. His memories were a bit blurry, so he concentrated on his occlumency and organized his mind and his memories started to rush back to him. He panicked and stepped out of bed and noticed something peculiar. He is shorter than he was before falling and another thing his mind registered is that he stood in his old Gryffindor's boys dormitory and not some Order headquarters or his home, where he spoke without thinking, "What the hell?". Hearing his own voice he thought why the hell my voice sounds so shrill? And why am I shorter? It's almost as if I'm..." When Ron's eyes widened, he quickly looked around and saw his once best friend's curtain, He quickly went there and quietly with a shaking hand drew the curtains and saw him sleeping quietly and peacefully. He stumbled back and started shaking. He was starting to lose control, so he told himself, Get a grip on yourself Weasley. There is only at one place you can find the answers that you want".
He quickly started to run, he got out of the dormitories, into the common room and out the crawling place behind the Fat lady's portrait into the corridor and started to run towards his destination — Headmaster's office. Before he knew it, he was standing in front of the headmaster's office. He was amazed that he made it to the office after so long, but he faced another problem - he didn't know the password to the office so he started pacing, looking here and there wildly. "Goddamit, How am I going to get into the office?", he thought. Ron was hoping that this was a nightmare, even though his logical part of his brain was telling this wasn't a nightmare.
Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of The Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was sitting in his office deep in thought so engrossed he was that he neither noticed the strange lightning nor the red moon. This year his school is hosting the first tri-wizard tournament after a century and tomorrow evening their guests from Beauxbatons & Drumstrang are supposed to arrive. The students of Hogwarts were already notified. Everything was nearly ready; only some finishing touches to their decoration for the welcoming feast were remaining which will be done tomorrow as first things in the morning. Hosting a tri-wizard tournament was no small thing, Dumbledore had known the Triwizard tournament would take a significant amount of time and effort to organize, however it seemed like every minute brought a new emergency. There is another thought heavy on his mind, the parents of his students were complaining about Moody's teaching style, Dumbledore sighed, that was most definitely his greatest source of concern at the moment.
But Dumbledore's thinking process was interrupted because of a chiming sound in the office indicating that someone wanted to see him. Curious about who would come to see him at nearly one in the morning, he tapped his wand on the desk. A ghostly image of Ronald standing in front of the office gargoyle appeared. 'Why would he want to meet me at this hour?,' thought the headmaster. Ronald was wearing his nightclothes and shuffling from foot to foot. He looked very nervous.
Dumbledore flicked his hand, releasing the statue. As the ghostly images of Ron faded, Dumbledore saw him sprint past the gargoyle before it had even stopped moving. Dumbledore put his wand away and crossed his fingers on the desk, waiting for the boy.
As soon as the door opened Ron sprint passed the gargoyle without even thinking about how the door opened? He quickly took the stairs two at a time and burst through the door into the office of the headmaster and looked directly towards the desk and his eyes fell on the old man. The second his mind registered Dumbledore, his eyes went wide & his face paled. He thought," Dumbledore is alive! Does that mean I am in the past? At that thought Ron froze.
Looking at the frozen young man before him, Dumbledore said, Good Evening Mr. Weasley, May I ask you, what are you doing outside during this hour? "
Listening to the old man speaks Ron said, "Bloody hell, you're really alive."
Not quite sure what to make of that, Dumbledore smiled and nodded, "Indeed, I am, and I am glad to see the same applies to you too."
Ron just looked at him like he had seen a ghost. An awkward silence fell between them where both of them just looked at one another. But after a couple of minutes Ron shook his head and began pacing. "This can't be real, this doesn't make any sense." Dumbledore tensed at Ron's behavior. He was clearly very agitated.
With that thought in mind, Dumbledore filled the office with a simple calming charm. Ron's pacing slowed, and he stopped talking to himself. When the boy was sufficiently calm, Dumbledore asked, "What is the matter Mr. Weasley?"
Before answering him Ron calmed himself down and focused on his occlumency training & pushed down his emotions and turned to the old man and said matter-of-factly, "I think I'm in the past."
Dumbledore was a bit surprised. If he guesses correctly Ron has just used occlumency, there weren't any students at Hogwarts who knew occupancy except Miss Greengrass and from what Dumbledore knew Ron didn't know this skill a day before, also the surprise Ron had expressed at seeing him alive was also of greater concern. Dumbledore's mind began running through many scenarios. Had something happened in the near future, causing Ron to travel back? If time travel was involved the situation would need to be handled very carefully, however, first things first. "Explain Mr. Weasley, Where did you get a time tuner?"
Ron stared at Dumbledore and said," I didn't use the time turner. I just woke up in my bed."
That did not make sense. Perhaps rather than time travel, he had run afoul of some form of Confundus curse? In a soothing tone Dumbledore asked, "Why do you believe you are in the past?"
"Look at me!" Ron exclaimed. Dumbledore quirked an eyebrow and Ron continued, "Right, sorry. You think I'm supposed to be like this." He shook his head, "Merlin this is confusing. Ten minutes ago I was thirty-four years old, not thirteen!"
Dumbledore relaxed, a small smile returning to his face. A Confundus curse was sounding more and more plausible. Travelling twenty years back in time had been proven to be arithmetically impossible. Madame Pomfrey would have Ronald's mind mended in a couple of days. In a calming tone that one would use around a frightened animal Dumbledore said, "I believe you are actually fourteen years of age Ronald."
Ron sighed, "You don't believe me. I am not surprised. I am having a hard time believing it myself. "
Dumbledore hesitated to make up his mind because he had noticed something. Ron looked different. Ron looked tired, his shoulders slumped like they had carried some heavy burden, but the thing that made him hesitate was his eyes. They looked far older than any fourteen year old kids should have liked they have seen far too many things. Older than Harry's or even older than Arthur's. So Dumbledore instead of telling him to see, madam Poppy he asked, "How can you be certain that you are in fact 34?"
Ron nodded and took a bracing breath. "What year am I in? Has Riddle come back yet?"
Dumbledore showed no emotional reaction to the mention of Voldemort. "It is your fourth year, and as far as I am aware Voldemort is still in Albania without a true body."
Ron closed his eyes and seemed to be searching his memory, ""He's not back yet." Realization spread across Ron's face. "Bloody hell."
There was no doubt that Ron believed what he was saying, unfortunately that didn't make it true. "Slow down Ronald, you have yet to give me any proof of your claim."
Ron nodded, "Yeah, yeah, sorry." He was thinking for a moment after a couple of minutes he sighed and said," There is no way that I can prove it to you that I am from future right now, but if you are willing to wait a couple of day I can tell you what is going to happen, if you are willing?"
Dumbledore thought for a moment, he still thought that Confundus' charm was still a probable answer for Ron's weird story, but the thing he had noticed about how Ron held himself made him question it. So instead he simply leaned forward in his chair and said, "Tell me."
Ron nodded and said, "Alright, we are hosting a tri-wizard tournament right? I will tell you the names of the champions."
Dumbledore eyebrows quirked at that and said, Alright, but what if you are wrong?
Ron shrugged, "If I am wrong, then I was lying about me being from the future and you can punish me any way you want, but if I am turned out to be right you will know that there is some sort of truth behind it."
Dumbledore thought for a moment. Well, there is no harm in waiting for a moment. Merlin knows that he has done that before to extort Gilderoy Lockhart. So he nodded.
Seeing him nod Ron continued," Alright, so the Beauxbatons champion will be Fleur Delacour, Drumstrang champion will be Victor Krum and the um… The Hogwarts champion will be Cedric Digory, but we will have a fourth champion. His name I will not declare yet".
"What? Fourth champion?", Dumbledore asked. Ron answered, Yes". Dumbledore continued, "And why wouldn't you give his name?". Ron shrugged, "Because you have a nasty habit of manipulating and if I told you the name you will try to stop it." Even now Ron knew what Dumbledore was capable of, and he knew he would try to intervene, but Ron also knew that if this was real and Ron had somehow landed himself in the past and if there was no way to get back to his present then he will need to keep as much closer to the original timeline as possible. So that ruled out saying the Harry's name, and seeing the look of shock on Dumbledore, he needs to get out of here before Dumbledore asks any more questions. So Ron continued," And before you try to ask more questions I should probably get out of here. Good night \professor." And he bolted for the door, not waiting for a reply.
Dumbledore blinked at the place where just a moment ago Ron Weasley stood. He was shocked by what Ron has said. After a couple of minutes he sighed and sat down for a long time. His mind on the things Ron has said. From what he has seen, he thought that this could very well be a prank but that wasn't his style. Also, the fact that Ron knows about Voldemort coming back can be proof enough to prove the Ron's story. He heaved a sigh, he had many questions on his mind that only Ron can answer, but he had a feeling that he won't be talking to him anytime soon. Well, he said to himself, I think it's time I went to bed.
After fleeing Dumbledore's office and passing the gargoyle Ron slowed down and thought, so that's that. A part of him knows that he is struck here, he just didn't think that it has hit him fully yet. He knows that he has lost everyone. At that his face fell. He made his way silently to Gryffindor entrance, gave the password to the fat lady, made his up to his dormitory and the second his eyes fell on his bed, he found that he was tired. All the day's events finally caught up with him. His day was too long, so he sat on his bed for some time and said, well I am back." Then he closed the curtain around his bed and cast some privacy charms in fear if he had any nightmares and went to sleep.
I just corrected some grammatical mistakes guys.
I think that this is a really interesting story so far. I haven't read any time travel stories that focus on Ron before, so I think that this is interesting. My one question is, is the original timeline cannon to the books? Meaning, in the future that Ron is from, did the events of the rest of the books happen? Or is he from a different future that is different from the books? – rainbowpuff
Thank you for review and reading it rainbowpuff. Now there are many time travel stories centering around Ron but all them are abandoned. And to answer your questions, from what I have planned so far all the things from the books happened(but it can change anytime if it sits right with the story), aside for some major changes which are they ? Well you will find out in the next chapter so stay tuned.
it's good and has potential but you might wanna reread it and see if you can phrase things a little differently. Read through it as if someone else wrote it or with the mindset of Would I like to read something if it used these phrasing or is this something a reader would indulge themselves in. Don't mean to be rude just my advice as an English teacher – VsWife
Thank you for reading it and reviewing it. BTW no offence taken, i usually welcome this kind of reviews, shows me where i made the mistakes, I have tried to rephrase somethings and well corrected some grammatical mistakes, so hope you will like it.
