The knock on the door was a surprise to here as we get ready for breakfast.
I look to Trixie to see her confused face. "So I didn't forget that your dad was picking you up today?" I ask her.
"No." She says.
I open the door to find lucifer on the other side. "Detective." He greets with a smile.
"Lucifer!" I hear Trixie squeal in delight as she launches herself at Lucifer.
"Hello, Beatrice." He says patting her on her head. I am surprised he didn't call her spawn or small human.
"What are you doing here?" I ask him as he lays his arm around Trixie.
Trixie lets go of lucifer and heads back to her breakfast. "I was hoping you and Beatrice may want to join me on your day off. I called in a little favor and wanted to see if you both would like to go to San Diego Zoo?" I am sure he saw the shock I know is crossing my face. "I just thought it might be something fun for Beatrice but also a nice thing to do to just spend some time together." He says in a nervous rush. I think back over the time I have known him and have never seen him so nervous.
"We better get ready if we're driving down to the zoo today." I tell him moving back into the house.
"Oh no, love. I have a helicopter at the ready near by. Whenever you and Beatrice are ready we can head out. Please don't rush on my account." He says no hint of anything mischievous in his tone or face.
"Mommy, I want to go on the helicopter." Trixie says pleading.
"Okay, Monkey. Go get dressed, I am going to shower and get dressed and I'll be ready to go. 20 minutes okay?" I turn back to lucifer for confirmation.
"Of course, love." He says turning to the sink. "What are you doing?" I ask him.
"I'll clean up here and by then B and I will be here waiting for you." He says as Trixie runs off to her room.
I lean in to him and kiss him. "Thank you."
"I have missed you Detective." He says pulling me into his arms. "I must admit this is also for selfish reasons as I want to spend some time with you." He says kissing me again.
"Well maybe tonight we..." I start to say but am interrupted by Trix.
"Mommy, stop kissing Lucifer and get ready so we can go." She says and I laugh as I untangle myself from Lucifer.
"Okay, Okay." I say as I walk to my room. "Help Lucifer and I'll be ready when you guys are done." I tell her before I close the door and get ready for the day.

I never liked children, never thought one would ever change my mind, but the little human holding my hand and her mothers practically dragging us to the helicopter has weaseled her way into my heart almost as much as her mother. I see a part of myself in little B. A bit mischievous and head strong, also like her mother.
"The monkeys, I want to see the monkeys first." Beatrice says excitedly as she tugs on her mothers and my hand.
"Okay B, monkeys it is." I tell her as we turn to head in the directions of the monkey in closure.
"B?" I hear the quiet voice next to me. I turn and raise an eyebrow at her in question. "You called her B a few times now, since when have you started calling her or anyone by their name?" She asks as Beatrice lets go of our hands and runs to the building.
"You changed me." I start as I turn towards her. "I have never felt like I do for you and Beatrice. I never liked children, spawns they are, but that little girl has weasels her way in just like her mother. She's mischievous, which you know is my favorite. She is just different, much like her mother." I tell her as I wrap an arm around her and guide her inside as Beatrice is holding the door open jumping up and down.
"Lucifer." She says tugging at my hand as I watch Beatrice run to the rails to look into the monkey in closure in front of us. I turn to her. "I love you." She says and kisses me.
"Love you too." I tell her and pull her into my side as we move closer to Beatrice.
