Amanita Deadman was walking down the street as she usually did, like always. One might assume that it was a bad idea for a vampire such as Amanita to be walking down the street at such a bright hour of the day, but Amanita had a lot of angst and depression due to her rough upbringing. Her short, but still recognizably emo haircut flowed as well as it could in the wind, and her shining brown eyes matched her similarly dark complexion. It was hard to take one's eyes off such a mysterious, yet attractive young woman, and her eye catching, yet somewhat out of date clothing choice that crossed over Victorian fashion and a pop punk aesthetic certainly didn't go unnoticed either. The glances from all the popular kids, however, were not what she wanted at all because she was edgy and alternative and hated the popular kids.
As she was walking down the street, she caught sight of a presence she certainly didn't want to be around. It was her very own father, Frogger. Thankfully, Amanita was really good at hiding her self, so she ducked into some nearby bushes (the shade was probably good for her vampire skin anyways.). She stared at her estranged father with a sense of distrust and disgust as she reminisced on her tragic backstory.
Amanita was born as the only surviving tadpole of Frogger and his wife, Damaris Withey. In a tragic attack by a poacher soon after the eggs were laid, her brothers and sisters to be as well as her mother were killed trying to protect the family. However, in the wake of disaster, an old and wise frog prophet approached her and Frogger, and was stunned to see that an ancient prophecy was beginning to come true.
He spoke the following prophecy to her and Frogger:
"In the wake of tragedy, a hero shall rise
From the ponds and reeds, a saviour shall be
When the only frog who is brown, jumps into town."
Frogger was shocked that his own daughter was part of a prophecy proclaiming her to be the hero. He had always thought of himself as the hero of his own journeys and the superstar of the pond. So Frogger grew increasingly jealous of his own daughter and sought of ways to dispose of his burdens.
Facing the increasing abuse of her father, and the pressure that comes with being the hero of prophecy, she ran away from home, leaving her old life behind and hoping to also run away from her destiny.
Unfortunately, her luck was ill timed, as she ended up boarding a very cursed flight. You see, unbeknownst to her and the other passengers, the pilot was in fact a vampire. During the very long flight, this specific vampire pilot grew very bored, and very hungry too. Faking a need for a bathroom break, he began to walk through the plane, examining potential victims. When his eyes fell on Amanita, he knew he had his target. One might be alarmed by a missing person aboard an airplane, but nobody would suspect a missing frog. So he snatched up Amanita while she was sleeping, and began to feed on her blood while she slept. However, to her fortune, the pilot assumed the still sleeping frog to be dead from the feeding, and discarded it before she could be properly killed.
When Amanita awoke, she felt different. Her teeth had become sharp, her thirst was for blood, and she felt more supernatural. At this she knew that she had been transformed into a vampire. She knew that this could be her new beginning and gave herself the surname "Deadman" just to drive home the fact that she was a vampire, and with this, Amanita began her new life. As a part of her new life, she began going to high school like a normal girl, which she was currently on her way to when she ran into her father.
She couldn't understand why Frogger would be here of all places. Was he looking for her? Was it all just a misunderstanding? She didn't know, and at the present, didn't care to find the answers right now.
What she was really worried about was the big math test she had today. It was a test she couldn't avoid to fail, especially since she shared this class with Caliban Harker, the goth hottie whom she had been crushing on all semester. She didn't want to seem like a complete idiot in front of her crush of all people!
As she entered the school, she couldn't help but notice the group of popular kids standing by the lockers leering at her. She hated the popular kids more than anyone else (except maybe her father), and gave a dirty glance back at them. One of the jocks almost came forward, but was held back by a few of his friends. Perhaps they knew by instinct that they shouldn't mess with her.
She entered her math class nervously, a feeling which only grew worse as she noticed Caliban sit down in the seat right in front of her. She began to sweat as the papers began to be passed around. As the papers moved from one seat to the next, Caliban turned around to hand Amanita her test, but Amanita couldn't help but get lost in Caliban's gorgeous eyes.
"Uhhhh, miss?" said Caliban to the distracted Amanita.
"Oh! Yeah! Sorry about that!" said Amanita, grabbing the test hastily. She couldn't help but be disappointed that Caliban didn't even know her name.
The test went by, and surprisingly well for Amanita. She left the classroom confidently, despite her awkward encounter with Caliban. But to her surprise she was stopped by someone she never would've thought. Turning around, she was faced by Caliban himself!
"Oh my gosh, Caliban I-" she began but was interrupted by Caliban.
"Hey, chill out. I got tickets to a My Chemical Romance concert, but I have one extra, wanna go?" said Caliban
Amanita couldn't believe her ears or eyes. She had to restrain herself from hopping up and down with glee at the prospect.
"Of course I'll go with you Caliban." Amanita responded.
"Great, I'll pick you up at 7 tomorrow. Say, I don't think I got your name." said Caliban's
"Amanita, Amanita Deadman." she responded
"Hmmm, Amanita... I like it." Caliban said with a smile.
