Prologue: Starters

Prologue: Starters

I saved twin my brother. I was happy that I could save him. However I could not save him and myself from the prophesied nine. We and seven other hybrids have risk our lives to save the planet from the Krelem. The alien race killing everything with flesh. The Krelem are nasty, vile creatures. They are an evil green with pink scales, they have razors for teeth and six eyes. They don't have ears so they rely on touch and sight to catch their prey. They even try to go for their prey when the prey is oblivious to it. I am still learning about the prophecy and how nine hybrids could change the course of the war. The war that started in the early 2020's. It was supernatural creatures vs. humans before the Krelem came. I will get back to this journal if I am still alive and answer all my questions later. I recently met Katherina Deaton. At first I knew her as Project 200. She refused to be called by any other name. She wanted people to know about her past but at the same time she did not know how to share. Her hair is unique along with her eyes. She said she was born with brown hair and natural highlights. Her eyes are unique to, one eye is green and the other one is a silver color. Almost like someone wanted her to be blind in one eye. She still stands tall even after telling me about her past. All of us, Katherina, my brother and I had all received letters from a mysterious M. Katherina's anger showed when she looked at the one addressed to her. She even burned the letter in front of us. Three out of the nine of us are ready for the prophecy.

Chapter One

Oh my gosh I am super excited for today. Today is my first day as a police detective I am twenty years three years old. I am trying to follow my dad's foot steps to impress him. Don't call me daddy's little girl. He was on the force for seventeen years before he was shot in the back. This is what ended his career. Don't get me wrong I am great full that my dad is alive. I just want who ever did this to my dad I want them to pay for it. I know I shouldn't let my rage for my dad control my want to be a police detective.

3 months later…

I have been a police detective for a few months now and am super excited to that I have earned respect of my fellow officers and partner McDan. McDan had been on the force for the past fifteen years. He sort of had dad bod. His hair is light brown with some grey, he also has light blue eyes. He wears a lot of plaid shirts. He didn't like working with me at first but after proving myself on a couple of cases we worked on he started to trust me.

Chapter two

Happy Birthday to me! I have made it to the age of twenty-four. My mom and me are celebrating at a bar. I am at a bar on the other side of town. It is a typical bar. Bar stools, line of liquor. My dad is home on bed rest, we recently found out that he had stage four liver cancer. He only has a couple of months left to live. I don't want to be sad but its all that I could think about.

3 months later…

My father's funeral is today. I can't write today so I am going to log off.

Chapter Three

Today was weird. I was craving something else to eat for breakfast. To start the weird day I ate cinnamon oatmeal instead of cereal. I usually eat frosted flakes, but I wanted something different. The next thing that was weird my ford 2018 truck started with no problem. Usually with my truck I have to get it jump started. Today I managed to get out the door in under fifteen minutes. When I got to work my partner officer McDan smoking a cigarette outside. He looked like he was trying to calm down. I approached him and he looked like he had seen something no cop should have to see but we do anyway. A person that died in front of us.

"What happened McDan?" he was panicked.

"The witness to our current case stabbed herself in the neck with a pencil," he blew another huff.

"What?" I freaked.

"She… her last words were "the nine are coming…" I lost her after that," McDan spoke.

"Take a minute out here and we will regroup inside," I said.

This was the next line that made my day even weirder than it already was.

"The captain is actually requesting you to meet him," McDan said.

"Weird, but okay," I said and started to head in.

Why was everyone ignoring the fact that McDan and I just lost a witness to our case? That was one of the many questions that had pondered in my head. I started my walk of two flight of stairs. I never take the elevator ever, I feel lazy doing that. Captain Pines was standing next to my desk and looking at some of the trinkets I got from my dad.

"Hello, Detective Collier," Pines said.

"Hello, how is your day going sir," I asked.

"Great, let's get to business you are being put on this case and McDan is in charge of the current case you are working got it?" Pines directed and handed me a file that was a good size.

"Sir, I haven't been a police detective for very…"

"I think I know where you are going and it was out of my hands. I was told to place you on this case by the commissioner," Pines said.

"Oh, okay I better tell McDan than," I said.

"He already knows," Pines paused, "keep me updated with the case".

"Yes, sir…"

I spent the rest of the day at the office looking over the case and the particulars. This was going to be my life changer.

Chapter Four

Fresh new eyes for today. I went home early yesterday to clear my head. Today when I got to my desk I opened my new case and started to look over everything. The victim was Tyrese Lauden. He was a six foot Spanish decent male. Twenty three and green eyes. He was found dead in his office. The wound was caused by a 45 caliber gun. He was a P.O and he had a brother Gaudiel Lauden. His office was on the west side of town\, his brother's office. I decided the next best thing to do was to inform the victim's loved ones of their lost ones. I started to head downstairs and McDan met with me half way.

"Hey, Collier".

"Hey, McDan".

"Heading out?"

"Yeah, but usually when you meet me in the stairway you have news".

"Yes, sorry I finally cured my cancer," he said.

"Congrats! So happy for you, no more smoking?"

"I'm going to celebrate," he ignored the last part.

"You deserve it, I'm going back to my case,"

"Oh, yeah good luck," he said and started to head upstairs.

The drive to Lauden's was fast and easy. His office was a seventeen building. I parallel parked my truck and took in a deep breath. I got a weird feeling in my chest but chose to ignore it. When I got inside I was greeted by the desk clerk.

"Hello ma'am how may I help you?"

"I need to speak with Mr. Lauden,"

"May I ask what this was referring to?"

I showed my police badge, "Unfortunately no and I need to be talking with Mr. Lauden soon,"

"Yes, ma'am. He is currently in a meeting and I sent him a message. He will be down in about five minutes. So, if you would like to sit over there and wait for him," he pointed toa bunch of vacant chairs.

I walked over there and sat down. I figured that if I had to wait look over the case. About three minutes had passed when I noticed this really hot guy in a brown suit walking towards me. He was 6'1 tan skin green eyes, his muscles ripped pretty much out of his shirt.

"Hello," he had such a smooth accented voice.

"Hello, I am detective Collier," I spoke.

"Ah, yes the detective," he paused, "This way detective Collier".

He led me to the elevator and pushed the 7th button.

"Did you want to start asking me you questions?"

"No, I prefer to ask in a more exclusive area".

The button was on the 4th floor… Jesus how big is this building. He could tell that I was getting a little hot from being in the elevator so he took a step back from me.

"What could be more exclusive than an elevator?" he turned to face me all the way.

He had a smirk on his face, how I wished I could slap the smirk off his face.

"This is a conversation meant for us both to be sitting down," I said bluntly.

His left hand reached out and touched the right side of my face. There was a small electric shock between the two of us. He looked at me with shock and amusement.

"Let's go," he pointed the way.

I walked out of the elevator and into his office. I sat in a chair and waited for him to sit himself.

"First, I am sorry for your loss," I said.

"Your fine now ask your questions," he said.

"When was the last time you saw your brother?"
"Four days ago, then I went into his place to check on him. He was dead…that was two days ago," he choked a little.

"I'm sorry to hear that if you don't feel comfortable with these questions".

"No, it's fine".

"Why do you think someone would want your brother dead?"

"He is… was a bounty collector of the sorts. He was on a case, I don't know the particulars of this case but you can check his stuff".

"Yes, I'll look into that thanks," I paused, "I better get going. I don't need to take more of your time".

He shook my hand and there was that electricity again.

"Goodbye, Mr. Lauden".

When I finally made it back outside I felt my breathing had returned.

Chapter Five

Wow is Gaudiel Lauden hot or what? He is also very cocky and arrogant. The case I'm working on is different the other ones I worked on with McDan. I travelled to Tyrese Lauden's P.I office. His office was further downtown. When I made it to his office was further downtown. When I made it to his office I felt a sudden cold chill and went into a protective mode. I pulled my gun out and headed in.

"Hello?"

I almost fired at a guy but stopped midway.

"Who are you and why are you breaking into an active crime scene?"
"Active crime scene? Ma'am, I'm sorry I was looking for my friend. My name is Nathaniel Luse," Nathaniel said.

"Alright, Mr. Luse are… is there a reason you are here?" I asked while putting my gun away.

"Yes, I am looking for my friend P.I Tyrese Lauden," Nathan said looking around.

"Mr. Luse, I'm sorry to inform you but Mr. Lauden's body was found five days ago," I said slowly.

"Mr. Luse do you want a moment,"

He sat down after all I stated to him.

"No it's fine".

"By the way do you know what case Tyrese was working on?"

"His cases are in his filing cabinet," he paused and pointed towards cabinets, "I have to go".

He left while I went into his office all the way. Nathaniel Luse has made it to my suspect list. He looked at little like me just masculine form.

Chapter Six

Tyrese was a busy guy when he as alive. He had thirteen active cases and thirty closed cases that I could tell.

"How was the office," Pines asked.

"The victim had thirty active cases and thirteen active cases when he was alive," I paused, "I will be checking off all his closed cases first".

"Better get to it," Pines spoke.

"Yes, sir,"

I stayed overnight looking at all his closed cases. He helped a lot of people retrieve their stolen goods. I was kind of jealous of all the good he has done. His active cases were a little more sketchy. One was a red flag. It was a case on a missing item that wasn't even labeled. What the hell was he looking for? I started to look further into his case. He was not very organized.

"Collier?"

I looked up from my desk.

"McDan what's wrong?"

"My wife is cancer free, we did it we are both cancer free,"

"Congratulations!"
"Good luck on your case!" he smiled and started to head out. I continued to work my case. I was exhausted around 7:30 p.m. I decided to head home. I grabbed everything from this case and check out of the night. It helped me relax. When I was close to my house I noticed that there were three cars parked in the driveway. I parked on the opposite side of the street then ran inside. There were fifteen guys around. They were staring at me with "awe" in their eyes.

"Honey, we need to talk," mom came up to me walked me into the kitchen.

"Yeah, like who the hell are all these men?" I exaggerated my hand gestures.

"Please, let's just talk," she gave me a warning look.

"What the hell mom?" I yanked my wrist away and held it for a second.

"You do have a mouth," a male voice spoke.
I turned to see where the voice was coming from. Gaudiel was standing next to the fridge.

"What… why are you here?"

"My brother left a message," he paused and gave me his phone. The message was very odd it was basically numbers.

"Gaudiel…I'm so sorry if you are receiving this message. That means that I am dead. I can't go into details right now all you need to know is 51, 32, 28, 56, 84," Tyrese paused, "I am truly sorry".

The phone shut off on its own.

"What…where those coordinates?" I said and held out his phone too him.

"We never know with my brother," he spoke.

"Next question with this information," I asked.

My mom then spoke up, "Honey, there is more to the story. Maybe you should sit down".

"Okay," and I sat in a chair.

"I should have told you when you were younger".

"Mom you are freaking me out," I said.

"You are half fairy," mom said.

The color drained from my face.

"What?"

"Honey, please let me finish," mom begged.

She patted my arm and then continued, "You are half fairy and "half" vampire. Your father that you grew up with is not your biological father. Your real father died protecting me," mom paused, "I met him nineteen years ago".

"Why am I learning about this now!"

"It was to keep you safe".

I shook my head in disbelief and then I remember Gaudiel was here.

"You probably shouldn't be hearing this," I smiled weakly.

"You belong to our coven. Technically my coven," he smiled back.

I looked at my mom, "Huh?"

"I think you need to have an open mind for the next part," mom said.

"Okay," I said clasping my hands together, "Explain".

"I left your father to keep you safe and away from the vampires for as long as possible. Your father agreed it would be smarter to do this", mom explained.

"You were born half fairy and half vampire. Your vampire side is contained until you have the blood from another vampire to turn you. Your mother is the fairy and your father was the vampire. Your mother is the rarest fairy in the world. She can bend all the natural elements to her will. Your father died because he left the convenient a year and half ago", Guadiel explained this time.

"Who killed him?" I choked out.

"Nathaniel Luse," Guadiel spoke.

I passed out slowly listening to the screaming and concern.

Chapter Six

I woke up later… the next day. Mom came in with a cup of water. I was in my room.

"How long was I out?" I asked mom.

"Nearly twenty four hours Aaliyah," it was Gaudiel he was sitting in my desk chair…

"Why are you here?" I sat up quickly and felt nausea hit me.

He was at my side faster than my mom.

"Guys, I'm fine," I paused, "Really I am just passing out after meeting my father's killer, it kid of takes a toll on you".

"What?!" Gaudiel sounded surprised.

"Yes, I met him at your brother's office," I told them.

"Honey, did he do anything, say anything?" mom asked concerned.

"He knows Tyrese and no he didn't do anything. He was looking for something though, probably the same thing your brother was looking for," I said.

"What?" Guadiel asked.

"I was going to ask you the same thing," I smirked.

It was ten at night when Guadiel and the others left. Guadiel was the last one to leave. He stopped in the doorway and looked at me dead in eye;

"Aaliyah, contact me immediately if Nathaniel contacts you," Guadiel spoke.

"Guadiel I'm working this case a human. That was the way I was raised," I looked at him to see if he was understanding me.

"Fine, but me or one of the other men interviews with you," Guadiel warned.

"That is against protocol Guadiel. I will be fine besides I have my gun, taser. You see I am perfectly armed," I said trying to sound convincing.

"Those would slow him down but not stop him, Aally," Guadiel warned again.

He then left before my brain could process.

Chapter Seven

I woke around twelve thirty to a sound coming from the kitchen. I knew it was not my mom. She was never up that early so I had to investigate. I pulled out my gun from is holster. I then crept into the kitchen as quietly as I could. The next thing I knew I was flung into our table and my gun was flung across the room. As the table shattered given it was glass and wood, I grabbed the closes piece of wood and I thrusted it into my attacker's chest. Mom came rushing down with her shotgun, she saw me standing over a body.

"I'll call Guadiel," mom said and disappeared to get the phone.

I felt my heart accelerating in my chest… Guadiel had his crew over here by one forty-five. His men started to do the cleaning of the body and surrounding area. I was sitting on the couch with my mom.

"Aally are you alright?" Guadiel asked.

I looked up at him like he was crazy.

"Aaliyah we need to discuss what happened and move on," mom said.

Guadiel nodded in agreement, everyone went outside after Guadiel gave them a look.

"Guadiel, come sit on the couch," mom said.

Guadiel sat next to me and our hands touched. The same weird electrical shock came out. Mom noticed it and looked at me and started to smile.

"What?"

"How long has that spark been going on?" mom asked.

"It happened twice while I was interviewing Guadiel," I said confused.

"Guadiel have you told her what it means," I turned towards him and was staring at his eyes.

"No," was all he said.

"What is she talking about?"

"What?" I tried again.

"Um…" he tried clearing his throat.

"What?" I tried again, then I turned to face my mom.

"Tell me I was attacked almost two hours ago," I was trying not to have a panic attack.

"Aaliyah stop being so dramatic," mom spoke.

"Mom, I was almost killed. I think I deserve a little bit of a breather," I said trying not to cry.

"Aally, look at me," Guadiel gestured to him.

"Guadiel I'm scared," I said.

Guadiel leaned in and started kissing me. Mom made a sound after a while. When he pulled back I felt like I had died a little bit.

"You can stay the night Guadiel along with your men. There is a shelter downstairs with beds for everyone," mom said.

"Thank you, Mrs. Collier," he said while looking at me.

"Good night you two," mom said smiling.

Guadiel then told me that the spark meant we are mates like wolves.

Chapter Eight

It was eight fifteen in the morning and I realized that I had to get work.

"I have to get to work," I got off my bed and started to get ready for work.

"Really? After everything," Guadiel sounded shocked.

"Yes, I have to find your brother's killer," I responded while trying to put on my pants.

Guadiel was in front it of me instantly.

"Please be careful, I don't want to lose you," he sounded scared.

I kissed him slowly his hands slid into my hair and followed with my hands. He was the one that pulled back first.

'Please Aally," his hand was on my chin.

"Yes, I'll be careful," I promised.

As I walked to my car I felt Guadiel watching me as I walked outside. No fairy/ vampire nonsense.

"Hey Aaliyah," it was detective Smam.

"Hey," I responded, "I have a lead in my case".

"Oh, sorry to bug you. I just need help in my case," Smam said.

"Oh, sure what do you need," I asked.

"Thanks… you see the witness is refusing to talk to my partner and I".

"You're wondering if I'll get them to talk?"

"Yes you have a way with people," Smam admitted.

"Sure which room," I asked.

"Three, interrogation room three," he said while we walked over there.

I opened the door and felt my heart drop. Nathaniel Luse was sitting in the chair.

"Hello Aaliyah," he spoke.

"Are…why are you here?"

"We…need to talk. Come in no one will bug us. I made sure of it," his voice hinting at his sarcasm.

I shut the door and stayed there. I was trapped in a room with my father's killer.

"Why are you here?"

"Hmmm, your Collier's daughter?"

"Yes, now answer my questions," I snarked out.

"Fine, I'm here to see what Lauden see's in you. Well besides you being one of the most powerful hybrids out there".

"I just found out most of this last night," I said sarcastically.

He was standing in front of me instantly.

"I need Guadiel to back off and that means if you are injured then so be it," he slammed my head into the closest wall. He then grabbed my arm and threw me into the glass.

"Stop," I begged him before trying to scramble to my feet.

I collapsed… I woke up hours later. I'm basing this on the way the sun is positioned. My surroundings were different. I was strapped to a chair in a warehouse. I started to look around to see where the hell I was.

"Well, glad to see you here and awake," Nathaniel laughed.

"Where is here?" I asked furious.

"Now with you here Guadiel will have to submit to my coven's power," he ignored my question.

Chapter Nine

A day must have past because I felt the sun on my skin. My heart started to pound in my chest.

"Relax, if Gaudiel tries anything you'll be dead. Unlike his brother".

"Oh, goodie me," I responded in a sarcastic manner then realized what he said, "wait, his dead brother".

"Bring out Tyrese Lauden," Nathaniel ordered.

He had a smirk on his face the whole time. Tyrese was brought out by two men with guns. Tyrese started to collapse to his knees. Other vampires came in… the next thing I knew knifes were being thrown along with "light balls" being thrown.

"Aally," it was Guadiel.

He looked me up and down.

"I'll kill him for this," he was touching the bump on my head.

"Gaudiel, Tyrese needs you more than I do," I spoke.

"What?" He looked confused.

I pointed behind him and he followed where I was pointing to.

"Go Guadiel," I ordered him.

He looked at me one last time and bolted across the flying bodies. Nathaniel stabbed him in the back and I let out a scream. I blasted Nathaniel into a near by wall with my water abilities. I ran to Guadiel and looked at his back.

"Aaliyah run," he pleaded.

"Gaudiel I have to finish this," I said and snapped his neck.

Nathaniel came up from behind and shoved his wrist onto my lips.

"Now we are the same, sister," he said and dropped me onto the floor.

My vision started to dissipate slowly. I started to pass out.
