Episode Summary:
Reina runs into the followers of Stain that wish for her head, but is saved by one who would rather see her still breathing then pushing daisies.
-Sometime After Hosu Incident-
The Underworlds Hell.
At least that's what the many locals had referred to it as.
It had been basically Hell on Earth for any normal person if they dared to travel to such a place. Though for the criminals that dwelled there, it had been a safe haven for them. Where they were outside of the city laws, away from the Pros, and most importantly… They were far away from the Symbol of Peace.
That was only one of the huge benefits to staying there.
The other had been, in simpler terms… There were no rules in the Underworlds Hell.
It had been basically anarchy, and those brave enough to stay were mostly the targets for many criminals that dwelled as most would consider it to be a game.
And for most, the hunting game was going to get more interesting.
In one of the many rundown taverns that still stood, a small crowd had been gathered around the television, as they saw something interesting on the news. They were all shocked to see what exactly had been on the small visible screen.
"-And while the newly named Hosu incident has been contained by authorities and Pros, the citizens and neighboring district can't help but express their concerns." The Newscaster said, "Reports tell us that Chizome Akaguro AKA-The Hero Killer Stain and UA student as well as third place winner of the recent Sports Festival-Reina Nouki are the suspects involved in the incident. And while the Hero Killer has been detained by authorities, Reina Nouki is currently unavailable for questioning. Until we can learn more, all citizens can't help but ask one thing… Is this the same girl we saw in the Sports Festival… Or is she a wolf in sheep's clothing? Only time will tell…"
The crowd had mixed feelings about this kind of thing as they were quick to voice their own opinions when they saw the footage of Hosu.
"Holy hell! That girl caused that much damage!?"
"She's just a kid, and she has that kind of a Quirk on her!?"
"That little brat, I knew she wasn't right the moment she set foot on that stage!"
"That's a bit harsh, I mean she's still a kid you know?"
"Even so, she's like a devil in disguise."
"Hey, you don't think she's gonna come here, do you?"
"You serious!? She's a little girl, she wouldn't last more then a day in the Underworlds Hell! Let the other bastards have fun with her!"
"Man come on, have some class."
A man with black hair wearing a hood to hide his face had been sitting furthest from the bar as he listened to the crowd's conversation as well as what had been on the TV. The only thing that seemed to stand out about the man was his wrists. They looked to be burned and had metal staples.
His eyes, of the color turquoise, looked at the image of the girl on the screen as the newscasters continued to talk about her.
"They're right." He said to himself, "Kid like her… Won't last more then a day, even with that Quirk she has."
He placed a cigarette between his lips, getting it lit with a snap of his fingers; from his fingers he produced that of a small blue flame. With but a sigh he created a small gray cloud as he had a certain look on his face.
"If she really does have the balls to come out here… She's going to end up dead."
A few weeks.
It was only a few weeks, yet for Reina, it felt like years.
She spent most of her money on the train ticket and to cross the border to get into the Underworlds Hell. She didn't have enough money left to get some decent food or stay in a local inn, or at least the ones that were still standing. She didn't have a decent rest in days, though she had to pull through it as most nights she found herself camping out.
She hoped the sleep would take her mind off of it, though… She couldn't even seem to do that.
Since that day, she was having trouble shutting her eyes.
She couldn't get rid of it. All of these thoughts. She couldn't throw it away.
Katsuki.
He almost died, right in front of her.
She failed to protect him.
And if that weren't enough…
… She almost killed her friends, her classmates and so many innocent people. The people she thought of like a family, had been lying and keeping secrets from her. They kept her in the dark for so long. She didn't know what to think anymore, and honestly that's what scared her the most.
The only thing that had been clear to her was that she couldn't go back.
As the sun was at its highest peak, she found herself walking down the road that had been mostly taken by grass and the tree roots. Most of the time she found herself stopping, taking a breather as to get the air she needed before she resumed walking along it trying to deal with the heat. She looked at her sketchbook as she had drawn the road map before she left the city.
It hadn't been much, but she figured as long as she stayed in view of the train tracks she would get to where she needed to go.
Only downside was the heat of the sun. She had long since removed her Cheshire Hoodie as she had the sleeves wrapped around her waist. Her blazer was in her bag that she had brought with her and sleeves were rolled up.
"So hot…"
She let out a groan as she turned her head to the sky before she fell to her knees.
"It's gonna take me a thousand years before I reach Nakagata… If I had the license to drive a car it would save me more time, the same can be said about the bike Violet-chan made for me."
She slapped herself in the face, "Except I couldn't use my bike because of my stupid Quirk."
It wasn't long before she felt her stomach let out a growl. She fell on her side as she let out another groan.
"God, I'm so hungry… I'm all out of food… I haven't eaten for days… I might just die of hunger before I reach it…" She soon noticed a certain stench in the air as she cringed, "Either that or my own stench since I smell like something the dog threw up."
She rolled over on her back as she looked to the clouds that sailed through the sky, she lifted her hands above her head letting out a sigh.
"I guess this shows what I get for wishing too much… I hated my Quirk for so long, and wished for it to go away in favor of a new one and now when I need it the most it's gone-"
She soon took out her phone from her ragged skirt, putting it on the camera to see how messy her hair had gotten despite it still being in a ponytail. She looked at herself as her once aqua green and purple hair was gone; every strain on her head had been coated with an inky black. Even her eyes hadn't been that of an odd eye color, instead they were of gold.
"-Not to mention, I still look like this. I haven't gotten back anything natural about my genes since Hosu. Why can't the world just give me a damn break…?"
Her stomach let out a growl as she let out another sigh.
She soon sat herself up, getting herself on her feet.
"... I should find a convenience store… I can at least get some instant ramen."
She stood up before making her way down the road again. It wasn't long till she found what looked to be an abandoned convenience store in the distance. She soon approached it seeing the doors had been bolted; though she was able to break it easily with the help of her sword.
She kicked down the door with ease before she entered the small store, noting the smell and small animals that roamed across the floor. Most of the food had been molded or already expired as she examined what had been left on the shelves.
She only managed to find a couple of canned foods with the lid still on, as well as a place to refill the water bottle she bought with her. Thankfully the place had a filter on the shelf that she could easily install into the sink of the bathroom.
She was able to find a plug in the small store. She was lucky the place still had electricity, as she was able to charge her phone as it had been on one percent. As she looked at the home screen on her phone she could see the many missed calls and voicemails she had from a certain green haired boy, from the icon she saw a familiar boy with green hair, she had been in the photo along with a certain ash blonde teen.
She remembered when they took that photo. It was during the summer festival taking place in Izuku and Katsuki's neighborhood. She remembered how Katsuki didn't want to go since she had invited Izuku, though he ended up caving. It was when they were still in their first year in middle school, it was the best night of their lives.
Though, it was all but a distant memory now.
She reached for her phone, but retracted her hand as she let out a sigh shaking her head.
She took her water bottle as she went towards the bathroom, which had seen better days. She was able to install the filter before she started to fill up the water bottle, as she found herself standing in front of the cracked mirror provided.
"When is this going to stop?"
She picked up her head and looked within the reflection. There she saw him. A young teen who had been the same age as her, wearing the same uniform but looking cleaner then hers. She recognized him by his ash blonde hair and that familiar look.
"Lollipop Head…" He said, with his hands in his pockets, before he leaned in so that his head had been over her shoulder "... This place… This life… It doesn't suit you at all. There's still time you know? You can go back home and fix this."
Reina sighed as she had a saddened look on her face. She turned to him, "You know why I can't. We've been over this before." She started to pace, as the voices in her head came back, "I almost let you die. I nearly killed the others. Shota… The other Pros… They kept everything from me. What happened before I woke up, my OWN mother, maybe even my brother and sister!" She sighed, "... I don't know what I can believe in anymore. I don't even know if I should believe in anyone."
"Well…" Katsuki said as he shrugged, "...You've got me to believe in, don't you? After all, we both made that promise that we would rely on each other."
"Yeah, but I-"
Reina stopped herself in mid-sentence as she slapped herself in the face.
"You're not even here…" She said, keeping her voice low, "... Why am I even talking to you?"
"I don't know." He told her as he shrugged, "Maybe it's because you've got no one else? That right now, I'm the only person you can trust?"
She only laughed as she crossed her arms over her chest, "That's rich. Cause last I checked… You're not the Katsuki Bakugou I know."
He only laughed at this, "You're right, I'm not." He told her, "But that hasn't stopped you before… Has it?"
Reina only blinked before she saw that he had been gone from her line of vision. This kind of thing didn't seem to surprise her anymore. She let out a sigh, putting her head against the mirror.
"It's better this way… At least now, they'll be safe… They can all be safe…"
She soon heard something fall over; she heard a couple of clangs echo in the store. Immediately she grasped the handle on her sword as she slowly stepped outside of the restroom. She slowly walked into the aisle as she saw a couple of cans roll by.
Grabbing her phone and charger, she stayed quiet despite the fact that her hand was shaking like a leaf. She noises nearby as to her, it sounded like a squish as she went closer. She soon turned the corner and immediately she froze. Before her very eyes she saw what looked to be a dog though it had been twice the size of that of a German Shepherd. The animal's fur looked to be that of gray as it had transitioned into a cream color.
From the physique and his size, she could tell it was a wolfdog.
She saw it eating what she assumed was a fresh kill, as she could see traces of feathers around the area of the animal. He had one of his front legs up as she saw what looked to be a metal jaw had been attached to it; her gaze couldn't help but soften at this.
She caught the sight of a tag on his ear as it had been labeled with a number as well as a familiar biohazardous logo.
"Futsuno?"
The wolfdog soon twitched as he had stopped what he was doing, as he looked to her. His eyes had been a piercing red as the animal gave an all too familiar look.
Slowly and calmly as she could she brought herself to her knees, setting aside her sword, and keeping her hands up as to show the animal she meant no harm. The wolfdog left his scraps before he limped over to her; she could see a fresh blood trail behind him, as it had been coming from his wound.
Though she felt the fear she remained perfectly still as the wolfdog started to smell her, circling her limply as he did. She could tell the animal had been in pain due to his wound.
Reina's eyes softened, "You poor thing. You must be hurting so much."
Slowly she reached out to the wolfdog as he soon stopped moving. He let out a low warning growl as he bared his teeth towards her, as it had been stained with the other animals' blood; instinctively Reina flinched back but she remained undeterred as she took a deep breath.
"It's alright." She said to the animal gently, "I won't hurt you."
The wolfdog looked uneasy as he still bared his teeth. Reina reached out again, but this time, he didn't move. She could see the animal's body shaking a little.
"You're scared… Aren't you?" She asked, as he answered with a growl, "You don't have to be. I'll help you… But you have to trust me, okay?"
The wolfdog still held his glare, but Reina saw that he hid his teeth after awhile. She took this as a sign as she went to see what she was working with as she moved as slowly as she could as not to startle the poor creature.
As she did, she was no longer aware of what was around her. Just outside of the convenience store she didn't notice a set of eyes peeking from the outside, watching as the young girl worked.
Three people stood outside, armed to the teeth as two had been men while there was only one woman. And though they had on entirely different outfits each of them wore what looked to be that of a red scarf.
"Well would you look at that?" The woman said, "We go see what our trap caught and look where our soon to be coat lead us to!"
"Looks like we hit the jackpot!" Her friend said with pride.
The third looked at Reina's outfit, noting that it had been UA's uniform. "A young girl, wearing a school uniform from UA!" The third said, "It's definitely her! The child of Stain's apprentice!"
"Didn't she have different colored hair?" The second asked, "Did she dye it or something?"
The lady chuckled as she said with a smile, "Who cares? Imagine the reward we'll get when we bring her head to the boss as payback for the Phantom Witch betraying all that Stain stood for!"
Her two comrades chuckled as they readied their weapons.
"Daughter or not, she's still just a kid." One of them said, "Not to mention it's three against one! This will be a cinch!"
With that, the group of three soon snuck around the back of the convenience store.
Inside, Reina managed to find the release latch on the fox trap, soon after she had gotten most of the blood off.
"I'm gonna remove the trap from your paw now." She said, "I can't do anything about the pain, so brace yourself."
She placed her hand on the release latch.
"1… 2-"
She pulled the release latch, and the wolfdog let out a pained screech as he collapsed on his stomach. Reina held the trap by it's chain seeing the blood drip from its metal jaw having a look of disgust on her face.
"How inhumane…"
She tossed the trap over to the side and sliced it with ease with the swing of her sword just as the wolfdog recovered. When she turned back as she sheathed her sword, she saw that he started to lick at the wound.
"No, don't do that." She told him gently. She reached out to the animal earning a growl from him as she froze a little. She took another deep breath again, "It'll make it worse if you do that, it could get infected."
She stood up, as she noticed one of the aisles though faded had been labeled medical, "Wait right here."
She went over to the aisle seeing that it had been nearly empty. She was lucky to find some rubbing alcohol, a bottle of antibacterial cream, as well as a pack of bandage gauze before returning back to the injured animal, as he had been laying on his belly patiently.
"Hold still." She instructed the animal.
She took out her only clean handkerchief before she started to treat his wound, earning a few pained whimpers as she did. After placing some anti-bacterial cream she proceeded to wrap the gauge around his paw, attaching it with a set of tape she found.
"There we go." She said to the wolfdog, "It's not exactly much, but… I hope it feels better."
The wolfdog picked up his head a little. Reina looked a little fearful, as he went closer to her. She soon calmed down when the wolfdog started to lick her cheek as he started to wag his tail a little. Reina giggled as she was finally able to pet him.
"Aw, you're welcome big guy." She said massaging his head, "I guess this means we can be friends now. You're pretty stubborn when it comes to people, aren't you? Reminds me of someone I know."
As she brushed her hand passed his ear, she noticed the tag on his ear again. Once again, her gaze softened as she saw the biohazardous signal with the numbers 009 underneath.
"She even experimented on animals… To think, I saw her as a friend."
VROOM VROOM!
Soon, Reina heard a sound, almost that of a motorcycle which alerted the wolfdog too as his ears perked up slightly. Immediately they both moved out of the way just as the vehicle came crashing through. Reina recovered from as she cringed slightly at the glass shards underneath as some gave her a few small cuts.
"What the hell-?!"
Soon enough she could hear a set of voices.
"BRACE FOR TROUBLE, VAPORWAVE GIRL!"
"MAKE IT DOUBLE, YOU LITTLE TRAITOR!"
"Huh?" Reina said tilting her head.
She found herself blinded suddenly when she found a set of lights on her. As her vision cleared, she saw three people standing before her with their heads high.
"WE PROTECT THE WORLD FROM DEVASTATION!"
"UNITING PEOPLE UNDER THE OATH OF HIS IDEALS!"
"TO PROTECT THE PEOPLE FROM THE REAL TRUTH OF JUSTICE!"
"AND EXPOSE THE PRO HEROES FOR THEIR SENSE OF FALSE HOPE!"
They soon revealed themselves to Reina, as she saw a woman with red hair wearing a short purple dress with a set of white heels with a red scarf around her neck as she looked to be that of a biker as she had sunglasses to go with it; though she looked to be wearing that of an animal's coat as it had been revealing her shoulders. The man next to her looked to be Jamacian-American with what looked to be a W scar on his left chin as he had on a black leather jacket with a white shirt and black leather pants with a chain wrapped around his waist; she noticed he had a red scarf around his neck too.
"WENDY!"
"MAXIT!"
The ones named Wendy and Maxit posed leaving Reina just somewhat confused. Wendy soon spoke up again, "We the Misfits, Followers of the once great Stain are loyal to his ideals!"
"Because of your mother, a former apprentice betrayed him!" Maxit added
"And your friends from U.A. defeated him in Hosu!" Wendy shouted.
"YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS CRIME!" Another added, "HARUHARA WILL MAKE YOU PAY!"
Reina and the wolfdog noticed a young woman who had short pink hair in the form of a bob with tiny pigtails standing behind them wearing what appears to be a red-cyan flight suit with her hands crossed..
Reina looked at the people surrounded as she noticed the weapons they had armed.
"Followers of Stain?" Reina said somewhat fearfully as she noticed the bloodstains on their weapons, "You guys, work for Stain?"
The woman named Wendy chuckled amusingly as she removed her shades, revealing her amethyst eyes. "Work with him? No, silly girl, We're simply fans of his work!"
"Fans?" She said disturbed, "I wasn't aware he had them."
Maxit said to the young teen, "Well if you think about it. He was right about how Pro heroes are taunting the idea of playing a hero..it sickens me! Especially a famous name for heroes like the Aiharas!" he points to his scar as he said "There's a meaning behind this scar! It means to win! No matter what! And as far as we see it, Pro Heroes are not that definition!"
Reina backed up slightly, trying real hard not to panic. "There are only three of them here." She thought, "The one behind me, I could easily take her out and make a break for the entrance. I can easily lose them in the forest if I run fast enough but-" She felt her head hurt slightly as she groaned a little, "-I don't even know if they have Quirks if they have any at all! Damn it! If they have a Quirk that allows them to move fast, then I'm screwed!"
The girl behind her named Haruhara taunted, "If you are thinking of running, don't! We got you and Lassie surrounded!"
Reina gulped, as she went to draw her sword, "Are you planning on ransoming me, is that it!? If you think they're going to let Stain out of a place like Tartarus Prison for just a kid then, then you're wasting your time!"
Wendy, Maxit and Haruhara looked at one another before they gave a laugh surprising her. "She thinks we're gonna do a K and R!" Wendy said, "That's so cute!"
Haruhara said to Reina in a teasing manner, "Oh you naive girl...This isn't a shonen manga, you know."
"Wait, what?" Reina said shocked.
"We have no intention of doing that!" Wendy told her. "That's too much effort!"
"If that's not your plan-" Reina started to say as her hand shook, "-Then what is it!?"
Wendy chuckled as she held what looked to be a crowbar, "Your mommy did a very terrible thing. She tried to kill our ideal Hero and ran him out of the city, in favor of the fake Heroes within our nation!"
"To simply put, we're gonna beat you to death in her place!" Maxit said with a smile as he held his chain like a whip.
"And make Clifford here, a brand new coat!" Haruharu added, "With that silky smooth fur he's got!"
Reina looked shocked as the wolfdog growled at them as he glared. She soon looked to the trap she had broken earlier as she was quick to put together. "That was your trap…" She said, "... How could you do that?!"
Wendy told her holding the crowbar like a bat, "It's the real world kid! What did you expect?"
Her comrades soon chuckled. "We're gonna make you pay for your mother's actions!" Maxit said, "Everything that she did to Stain, betraying everything he stood for, even in death she'll pay with your blood!"
Her eyes widened at this as it had been in disbelief; images passed her by in her line of vision causing her head to throb even more.
"You want to kill me, just because of what my mom did!?" She said, "But I didn't have anything to do with her, or what she did in the past! I didn't even know she existed till I heard about her from Stain!"
"It doesn't matter!" Haruhara said, "You're HER child! The spitting image of her! The one who inherited her Quirk without the use of a Quirk marriage! You're the child prodigy!"
"But that doesn't mean anything!" She told them.
Wendy chuckled, "Like we give a crap about that!"
"Enough talk!" Maxit said, as he started to spin his chain, "Battle time missy!"
Maxit soon tossed his chain at Reina causing her to move out of the way as it hit one the shelves breaking it instantly. She barely had time to recover as she found herself dodging the barrel of a shotgun as it shattered the cashier and desk.
This had been courtesy of Haruhara as she fired a couple more rounds at her as Reina went towards the back as she jumped behind the many downed shelves.
"This is bad, this is really bad!" She started to think, before she avoided Wendy's crowbar. She didn't have time to dodge her knife's blade as it had managed to graze the side of her head. "These guys really mean what they say!"
She ducked from the chain from Maxit, though quickly blocked with her sword as he pulled it back with brute strength; it only ended up ricocheting and hitting her on the cheek leaving a noticeable bruise and her mouth to bleed.
"Those eyes they have-It's the same as Stains!" She thought as Haruhara nearly got her from behind, "It's the eyes of a killer! This is bad!" She jumped out of the way as she heard the click of the gun. Just as the shot was fired she managed to get herself in the air. The moment her feet touched the ground she felt herself stumble and fall to the floor.
"I can't hold out like this!" She thought as she soon rolled across the floor as Wendy attacked with her crowbar attempting to bash her head, before she stood and blocked them as they engaged in close combat "I haven't eaten anything in the past several days! I didn't get enough sleep! I don't have the stamina or the strength to fight back! I have to find a way to escape. I have to lose them somehow, but-!"
Her thoughts were soon interrupted when she felt a series of sharp edges hitting her arm, opening a set of new wounds. She let out a cry before she noticed several knives had pierced and even cut open the palm of her left hand; this had been courtesy of Maxit as she saw he had a set of throwing knives.
"TAKE THIS!" He yelled before he tossed them at her.
Clenching her wounds she quickly moved out of the way of his knives, though just barely as they managed to cut her cheek as well as her shoulder and right arm.
She soon fell to her knees as she tried to catch her breath as she nearly dropped her sword as she attempted to stop the bleeding.
"Damn it all…" She said to herself as she tried to stand back up.
"I gotta say I expected more from you!" Wendy said, "I mean you have the same type of Quirk as your mother, don't you? Why don't you start using it and making this more of a challenge!"
At her words, Reina found herself back in Hosu as Katsuki had been beneath her bleeding in her arms as she let out a cry. Her expression became more fearful as she looked to the ground. "Keep it together…!" She said to herself as the pain in her head intensified, "... Keep it together…!"
"Time for you to die now, you damn prodigy!" Haruhara said as she reloaded her shotgun.
Reina froze up at this as she had been paralyzed with her anxiety. She couldn't even move her sword or draw the gun she had tucked away in her bag on her back. "What do I do?! What should I do!?" She thought, "I can't use my Quirk! I can't block those bullets with my sword! Even if I use the gun, it won't do much! If I don't think of something soon, I'll die! What do I-!?"
Reina had been taken back when the wolfdog soon stepped in front of her bearing his teeth towards her attackers as he growled; Wendy, Maxit and Haruhara looked surprised at this.
Wendy gave a laugh as she said, "Aww Looks like Fido wants to play fetch. Here boy! YOU CAN CATCH THIS!"
She soon tossed her crowbar towards them as Reina wasn't sure how to react. "BIG GUY!" She yelled to the wolfdog, "GET OUT OF HERE!"
Just as it was within reach, they all had been taken back when the wolfdog suddenly let out a tremendous bark creating a huge gust of wind, knocking the crowbar out of the air and it nearly hit Wendy. Reina's jaw dropped slightly at this.
"Wait...was that a bark..or a gust of wind?" Haruhara asked
"Wait, that's illegal!" Maxit said, "That can't be right!"
Wendy said while gritting her teeth, "There's no way a dog let alone an animal can have a-!"
"-A… Quirk!?" Reina said, surprised.
The wolfdog soon turned to Wendy, Maxit and Haruhara, before he let out another bark, this time it had been more ferocious like that of a hurricane. The ferocity of the winds made a fresh hole in the wall as it sent the three of them flying along with their motorcycle they drove in.
Wendy yelled as she flew, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?"
Reina had been in pure shock as she watched her attackers fly out of the abandoned building along with the loose debris caught in the large gust of wind. Though she didn't have time to think about it, as the wolfdog went underneath her so that she was on his back.
"Wh-Whoa!" She exclaimed nearly falling off of him, "What in the world are you-!?"
The wolfdog soon ran out of the store before she could finish; her chest hit his back and she gripped onto his fur so she wouldn't fall off and she grabbed her sword on the way out. Just as Wendy, Maxit and Haruhara recovered they saw Reina on the wolfdog's back running down the road at full speed.
"HEY, THEY'RE GETTING AWAY!" Haruhara exclaimed.
"WELL GET UP OFF YOUR ASS AND GET THE BIKE!" Wendy yelled.
Maxit added, "THEY CAN'T ESCAPE!"
Reina couldn't help but look back towards the convenience store as she had still been in shock by what had just occurred. She knew people could get Quirks, hell everyone on Earth knew that but-
-Well, she wasn't sure how exactly she should put it into words. She looked to the wolfdog as she felt the wind in her hair as well as a stinging sensation from her newfound wounds.
"That just now, was a Quirk!" She said, "How is something like that even possible!?"
The wolfdog only looked back at her, letting out a huff as he continued forward.
"You're just full of surprises, aren't you big guy!?"
BANG! BANG!
Reina jumped at the sound of a gun as a bullet went flying overhead. She looked back again as she noticed that Wendy, Maxit and Haruhara had been on the bike, closing in.
"Shit!" Reina exclaimed as she felt the wolfdog weave along the road as Haruhara fired onto them over and over again.
"DAMN IT MAXIT!" Haruhara shouted as she reloaded, "DRIVE STRAIGHT, WOULD YA?!"
"I DRIVE JUST FINE!" Maxit yelled, "YOU JUST NEED TO ADJUST YOUR AIM!"
"JUST SHUT UP AND SHOT HER OFF THE DAMN DOG!" Wendy yelled.
Reina kept herself down as Haruhara fired upon them with the shots just missing as the wolfdog moved out of the way of the oncoming bullets.
"These guys-They don't know when to let up!" She thought to herself as she felt her wounds act up, "I'm starting to get dizzy! Between not having any food and the blood loss I'm not sure how long I'm going to last! And now it's too dangerous to make a break for it to the trees with the raining bullets!"
She soon looked ahead and noticed a set of buildings in the distance as her eyes brightened slightly. "A town!" She exclaimed in her thoughts, "Maybe we can lose them in there!"
"Speed it up Big Guy!" She told the wolfdog.
The wolfdog understood her words as he started to pick up the pace. However Reina suddenly found herself freezing up and her grip loosened when she felt a sudden pain in her shoulder, causing her to cry out in agony. She found herself falling off the wolfdog's back, and rolling across the pavement of the cracked road as the wolfdog tripped on himself.
She found her energy leaving herself suddenly as her vision became blurry as she could hear a ring go off, having had
"Huh?" She thought as her eyes had been half lidded as she was now bleeding profoundly, "What happened? What just happened? A bullet hit me? It actually got me? But… That can't be… How is that-"
The motorcycle soon drove up stopping just a few feet in front of the downed teen. Wendy chuckled as she took her by the ponytail as it had caused her to cringe slightly. She heard her speak to her, and though it was muffled she spoke clearly.
"Pretty neat trick ain't it?" She said to her, "A little something I like to called Point Director! Any object I come into contact with, I'm able to control their direction! All I had to do was give the bullet from her barrel a tap and bam! We hit you dead center! Haruhara did say there was no escape!"
Reina could only groan in response as she felt her consciousness slowly slip away. She heard her companions speak up.
Maxit soon pointed out, "Dude, you didn't even know you could use your quirk till now.."
Haruhara added, "You're really forgetful with this kind of stuff huh? You're kind of like an old lady."
Wendy let out a growl as she shouted making them freeze up, "I am not an old lady! I'm at least 28! Maxit! Your about the same age as me! And you Haruhara, your 18!"
The wolfdog was about to charge when Haruhara activated her Quirk.
"Stay!" She shouted as she pointed with the snap of her fingers.
The moment she made eye contact, the wolfdog suddenly found himself whining as he froze suddenly; in the next moment he felt himself forced on his stomach as he couldn't move his body.
Reina let out a groan getting their attention. "Well…" Maxit said, "... What do you say we put the kid to bed and earn ourselves some R&R?"
Wendy said with a smile as she gripped her ponytail a bit tighter, as she held the crowbar in her hand. "Gladly."
"Who knows? After we kill her, maybe we can get her friends next!" Haruhara said with a wicked smile.
Reina let out another groan as she tried her best to move, though she even felt her sword slip through her fingers.
"I'm going to die… I'm going to die here…" She thought, as the world around her in her line of vision, "I can't do anything… My Quirk is gone when I need it most… I can't do anything… I'm going to die… I'm going to die…"
She felt Maxit's foot on her leg causing her to cringe, "Oh, I'm going to enjoy beating it out of her."
"Just don't mess her up too bad." Haruhara said, "We gotta bring the boss proof that we killed her."
She saw as Wendy and Maxit held their blunt objects, as they were ready to start their roughhousing. She felt herself unconsciously reach out to the sky, as she couldn't help but plead softly-
"Save me… Katsuki-kun…"
"Hey!"
Wendy, Maxit and Haruhara turned to the sound of a new voice. Reina looked over in the direction and though her vision worsened, she could make out his appearance.
Before them stood a man in his early twenties and had a pair of turquoise eyes. He had pale skin and had on a white shirt and dark blue pants and a pair of black shoes with a large gray belt and a blue jacket with a high collar, with a dark gray hoodie over it.
Though what really stood out to her was the fact that most of his skin appeared to be covered in burns along his lower face and neck, past his collarbone; He also had it along his arms, legs and underneath his eyes.
"Huh…?" Reina found herself thinking as she tried to keep herself awake, "Who… Who is that…?"
"Exactly what do you think you're doing on my turf?" He said, stepping towards them with his hands in his pockets.
Wendy couldn't help but wonder as she looked at the man's appearance again, "wait..isn't that-"
"I asked you guys a question you know." The man said, "So would any of you care to share?"
"I think the zombie's talking to you." Haurhara said, earning an elbow to the gut by Wendy. She dropped Reina onto the floor before she cleared her throat as she gave her response.
"Oh hey! We're sorry! We didn't know we're on your turf!" She said.
"Hey if you're planning to kill her by all means go ahead!" Haruhara said, kicking Reina towards him.
The man looked to the young teen as she had been breathing horsley; he could see that she was struggling to stay awake.
"A girl wearing a UA uniform…" The man said kneeling, examining her, before he looked to the three of them, "... She wouldn't happen to be the child of Stain's apprentice, would she?"
Maxit replied, "Well yeah!"
Wendy added with a smile, "We saw her just a few seconds ago!"
"And I'm to assume this was your handiwork?" He said, noting the fresh wounds she had as the blood turned her white collared red.
Haruhara said filled with pride, "oh yeah! Just like any follower of Stain, We would rather have her dead than alive!"
The man took a deep breath as he stood, "Because it would be paypack for what her mom did?"
"Yeah! How did you know?" Maxit asked.
"Simple." He said, "I'm one of you guys. I've been following Stain since his protests, and there isn't anyone in the world who hasn't heard about her mother."
Wendy said with a laugh, "Really… Is that so?
Maxit said, patting him on the shoulder, "You sure about that?"
"I know that she ended up attending UA after Stain gave her a choice." The man explained, "At the start of the month she confronted him about his ideals and they got into a fight. Instead of killing him, she ended up driving him out of the cities after he left behind a pretty nasty scar on her to remember him bye. She continued to go to UA since, and after she became a Pro, she tied with All Might on the top ten Heroes list."
Wendy, Maxit and Haruhara looked surprised. The man got Maxit's hand off of his shoulder before he said, "That sounds about right to any of you?"
Haurhara commented as her eyes sparkled in awe, "Wow, you really must know your stuff huh?"
"You have your ways of doing your research, and I have mine." The man told her.
Wendy soon asked the name, "Say kind stranger… What is your name?"
The man for a moment looked towards Reina as he noticed she was trying to move but couldn't. He soon gave his reply as he looked back at them, "Call me-Dabi."
Wendy, Maxit, and Haruhara looked a bit shocked by this name. Haruhara soon burst out laughing earning an awkward look from her companions and the man named Dabi
"Oh man! Dabi?" Haruharu shouted "WHOEVER GAVE THAT NAME TO YOU I FEEL SORRY!"
Wendy couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at this, "Dabi… Where have I heard that name before?"
Maxit soon gestured to Reina as he said with a smile, while holding his weapon for him to take, "Well we can split the bounty, go ahead and put her to bed!"
"Thanks, but-" Dabi said pushing the object away from him, "-I'm not gonna need that."
Maxit soon said as he shrugged, "Suit yourself man."
Dabi reapproached the young girl as she looked up to him. Her vision had been blurry and she looked somewhat scared, though defeated.
"If…" She started to say, "... If you're going… To kill me… Then… At least make it… A quick one..."
Dabi looked to Wendy, Maxit and Haruhara as he saw they gave him space, so they were far enough from earshot.
"You're willing to give up on life that easily?" He said to her in a low voice, "Aren't you even going to try to fight back?"
"... Like someone like you… Cares…" She groaned, "... You're just… A stranger… Who thinks… I should pay… For what my mom did… To your… So called, ideal idol…?"
He soon asked her, "What do YOU think I would gain from killing you?"
She was taken back by this sort of question but found herself answering, "... I don't know… Maybe… Some kind of… Closure…?" She huffed, "... It doesn't matter… What I think… Anyway… I'm going to die here… And I… Can't do anything about it… If I wanted… You're going to… Kill me with… Some sort of… Flashy Quirk… Just… Please… At least… Make it painless… I say I can take pain... To my friends… As not to worry them… But… I don't think… I have any… After… What I did… And… Since I'm being honest… I don't… Deal with it very well… I'm… Honestly… Scared of it… So at least… As a last request… Could-"
The man stopped her by placing his hand in her hear. He soon leaned over and whispered something she didn't expect to hear.
"You're not going to die here-Firefly."
"... Eh…?" She said, as she could almost swear she was imagining it.
Wendy, Maxit and Haruhara soon approached Dabi from behind as they were getting impatient.
"Hey Dabi, are you gonna kill her yet? Maxit asked.
"Don't mean to rush you or anything but-" Wendy said, "We're kind of on a tight schedule here!"
Dabi didn't answer them as he pulled back from Reina who had been very shocked by his words. Wendy let out a growl as she said, while getting out her crowbar, "Fine! If you won't move… then I'll bash your skull-"
Wendy had been cut off when his hand was in front of her face. She found herself shrieking as all of a sudden from the palm of Dabi's hand, emitted that of blue flames; it burned half of her hair as she cried out.
Reina was once again shocked by this as smoke had been left in its wake. "The flame's are blue..." She thought, "... Like, how Enji-san uses his Quirk… But… I've only seen him use them to enhance his flames for a short period of time… As strong as Enji-san is… He can't control blue flames… So… How is he-"
"WENDY!" Maxit and Haruhara shouted. Maxit turned to him as he growled "Bastard-" he took out his throwing knives and hurled it via his chain as he shouted "-TAKE THIS!"
Dabi moved as he grabbed a hold of the chain. He activated his Quirk, causing the metal to heat up, and Maxit let out a shriek as he felt his hand burn. Dabi pulled the chain towards him, before he tossed over his shoulder. He took out the knife as he said "DAMN YOU!"
He hurled the weapon towards him, only for Dabi to dodge and grab ahold of the blade before he used his quirk and left a burning cut on him causing Maxit to scream bloody murder as he held his wound.
Haruhara had a fearful expression but held her glare as she shouted, "HEY! DON'T YOU DARE MESS WITH MY FRIENDS!"
Haruhara went to activate her Quirk on him, but completely forgot about the wolfdog. He charged at Haruhara before he bit her on the leg with his powerful jaw causing her to fall over and cry out.
She yelled, kicking the animal off of her, "HEY, LAY OFF BRIAN!"
She successfully got the wolfdog off her, as he let out a pained whimper. Though she had little time to react when Dabi grabbed her hand before she could have a chance to activate her Quirk. The fear became more visible on Haruhara's face.
"You should know, normally, I'm not the type of guy that saves people like those false Heroes-" Dabi said tightening his grip, "-But given the current situation and who the kid is, I'll make an exception this time."
Haruhara said fearfully, "Why are you-Doing this!? You're a follower of Stain aren't you!? You're one of us!"
"I am." Dabi said, "I just happen to be one of the people that doesn't see the point in murdering her."
Before Haruhara could say anything more, Dabi used his flames again, burning her hand and it caused her to scream. She backed up from him, as Dabi shook out his hand.
"YOU! WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY HAIR?!" Wendy yelled as she held the right half of her head. She shouted while in tears, "WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE-!?"
Dabi cut her off as with but a wave of his hand, a set of flames were at their feet causing them to freeze. "Listen carefully you pathetic little bunch-" Dabi soon said in a dangerous tone of voice, "-Give your boss a message. The girl from here on out, is under MY protection now. If I ever see you, or any of his hunters come near her, or so much as look in her general direction I'll give you a taste of what the fires of hell is like."
His hands started to spark as small blue flames were seen, "Are we clear?"
Wendy, Maxit, and Haruhara's face paled as their bodies shook.
"Y-yes sir!" The trio said in unison as they ran away. They hopped on the motorcycle and drove as far away as they could.
"Well, that takes care of that." Dabi said deactivating his Quirk, before he turned to Reina, "Now then-"
The wolfdog went over to her side as he let out a worried whimper. He didn't even so much as growl at Dabi as he kneeled at her side again, before he started to go through her pockets. It wasn't long till he found what he was looking for.
"This will work." He said.
"He-Hey…" Reina groaned, picking up her head, "What, are you-?"
Before she could finish she felt the cloth of her own handkerchief forcefully shoved into her mouth, before she felt pressure on her shoulder with his other hand.
"Sorry about this, but I can't have you accidentally killing yourself." He told her.
Reina wondered what he meant by this sort of thing, until she let out a muffled scream. She felt the blade within her arm and hand, forcefully get pulled out. Her body instinctively tried to thrash though the grip Dabi had on her prevented her from moving around too much. With each blade he pulled out, he tossed the three blades towards the grass next to them. she took deep breaths through her nose before he got out the other.
"Okay." Dabi said as he finished, "That was the easy part."
"Easy part!?" Reina exclaimed in her head.
She noticed that Dabi stretched his fingers as his hands sparked a little. "Listen." He said, "There's no way I can stop the bleeding right away just from putting pressure. It's through and through, and you'll bleed out. I'm going to have to use my Quirk to close them up."
Her eyes widened at this as she realized what he was saying as her expression became more fearful.
"By that look, I take it you know what I mean." Dabi said, flipping her over on her back, and situated her so that she was laying across his lap after he sat himself on the floor, "Sorry, I can't promise that it'll be painless, but I'll go as quick as I can."
Dabi was about to go to work, Reina grabbed by the wrist before his hand could make contact with her open wound. He noticed the look in her eyes as she gave him a pleading look, as her eyes were still written with fear.
He could tell she didn't want to go through with it, just from the look in her eyes as it seemed as though she was about to cry. The way her hand shook seemed to be more proof of that. He soon remembered her words from earlier, as she told him she was scared of pain.
The look on his face changed.
"Even though she's a teenager, she's still just a kid." Dabi thought to himself.
With his free hand he guided her own to his forearm, shocking and surprising Reina.
"You'll be fine." He told her, "This won't kill you, that I can promise."
She could still feel the anxiety in her chest, though didn't move her hand from where he placed it. Soon enough Dabi's hand started to heat up as his hand gave a blue glow as the tip of his fingers sparked. He gripped her shoulder with his hand while she tightened.
His palm soon made contact with her open wound.
If it hadn't been for the handkerchief in her mouth, her scream would've been heard towards the mountains. Her legs kicked out due to her reflex and she felt herself grip the sleeve of his hoodie to an insane degree as her vision worsened.
If her fingers had been in contact with his skin, she could've sworn she would've made some scratches with her nails.
"It hurts…! It hurts so much…! It feels like I'm being consumed in the flames, like I'm being burned alive at the stake! It hurts! It hurts! I'm scared! Please! Someone! Someone tell me this will end soon!"
She let out another horrific scream as the intensity continued, though it was muffled by the handkerchief in her mouth as she bit down on it; tears started to fall as if she couldn't seem to take it anymore. She wanted her voice to be heard, she wanted someone to hear her agony.
She wanted someone, at least one person, to save her from it.
Even then, as she felt her vision darken, she found herself still pleading. Her plea came in the form of a name.
"Katsuki-kun…!"
Soon enough Dabi finished off sealing her wound as he finished up with her hand. He breathed a sigh of relief as he deactivated his Quirk looking over his handiwork.
"That'll just about do it I think." Dabi said, "All that's left to do is bandage it up and remove the bullet from your shoulder. I know someone in the town who could-"
He stopped himself when he noticed the girl in his arms had been limped and nearly lifeless as her hand on his forearm loosened.
"Oh, she passed out." He said nonchalantly as he removed the handkerchief from her mouth, "Can't say I blame her."
He removed his hoodie before putting it over the young girl to cover her bloodied form. He got her on his back adjusting it slightly as he held her bag and sword after he removed it. The wolfdog still whimpered as he looked at the girl though he looked unsure if he should follow.
"Come on now, mutt." Dabi said to the hybrid, "If you're that worried you might as well tag along."
At this the wolfdog ears perked up as his tail wagged a bit. He held her sword towards him after he had sheathed it, "Make yourself useful and carry this for me, got it?"
The wolfdog understood, and after sniffing it, he took the sheathed blade in his mouth; carrying it horizontally.
They soon headed into the town up ahead just as the sky above them turned gray.
-Abandoned Temple-
The sky roared with thunder as the rain started to come down. Many of the animals found shelter from the rain while some were still hunted for food to get them through the day. Those that stayed in the Underworlds Hell were able to find or build shelters of their own.
A man in his mid thirties wearing a surprisingly clean suit sat at the front porch of the temple drinking some tea he had brewed, enjoying the sound the thunder made. He appeared to have that of a lizard's tail as well as a set of clothes on his right hand. His neck had a set of scales and as he drank his tea, as he had shark-like teeth. He looked to have dark purple tied into a low ponytail.
His cellphone let out a peculiar ring as he had been quick to answer it. "Hello Misfits." He said.
Several voices were heard over the phone as he bought it away from his ear momentarily. "One at a time please." The man said calmly, "I can't understand you three if you talk all at once."
One of them soon gave their response as the look on his face changed slightly. "So you saw her then?" He said, pausing for a moment, "I see. I understand. Thank you for the information."
He hung up, before they could say anything more. The man soon stood up as he fixed up his suit before he proceeded inside the temple with his hands behind his back.
As he ventured inside he could hear the sound of groaning coming from within. A man tied to a pillar skin was pale as he was nothing but skin and bones as he looked to be pleading to the man that stood in front of him. An African American had his hand on the man's forehead as a faint set of colors seemed to go into his skin. He had his dreadlocks in the form of a buzzcut as most of it had been tied back with a white band. He had on a black trenchcoat with a white collar to go with it.
The man with the lizard's tail, soon cleared his throat, "Mr. Tau?"
The man flinched as he took his hand away from his victim's forehead. He turned to the man, revealing his full appearance as he had on a blue turtle neck with a zipper and dark green pants with black survival boots. A pair of scars were seen on his forehead, and his eyes were that of purple filled with a black pit.
The man named Tau said to his companion harshly, as he covered his hand nearly covered in a set of purple veins, "Do you mind?! This better be good, La Spada del Blanco!"
The man, known as Spada for short, soon said, "I don't mean to interrupt your daily meal but I have just received confirmation on those pesky rumors that have been going on for the last several weeks."
Tau flinched slightly at this as he raised an eyebrow. "Go on.."
Spada soon explained, "The daughter of the Phantom Witch is alive, and-She's in the Underworlds Hell as we speak. A person calling himself Dabi, is protecting her."
At this the anger seemed to have left Tau as he couldn't help but smile as he gave out a laugh, "Perfect… Now… The hunt can really begin."
