It was the smell of the wisteria flower that first entered Shinazugawa Sanemi's nostrils when his eyelids opened. A melodious voice of a woman slipped into his ear. The woman hummed. The lyrics that he remembered, but not the owner's voice.

I give the most beautiful flower to you; beautiful woman who sits on the river bank

I asked, what are you doing here?

You keep quiet while combing your hair

Wind, wind, come to me

Wind, wind, tell me

Sanemi felt familiar. The warmth of each word spoken by the woman made him almost burst. However, it did not stop him from approaching the source of the sound. It was the curiosity that got the best of him that made him keep going.

White is all he saw. Entering his vision and blinding him. Sanemi thought the wounds on his eyes might be so severe his eyesight had gotten worse. Only the voice keeping him to continue his step.

Wind, wind, come to me

Wind, wind, tell me

He dragged his feet toward the end of the road. There was nothing there. Only the back of a woman, standing with long flowing black hair. Her hair strands were blown by the gentle wind from the east. Sanemi tapped the woman's shoulder without hesitation.

"Kochou ..." His face looked surprised to see Kanae Kochou—a fellow Pillar who had fallen—standing before him. "So I'm dead, huh?" Sanemi smiled wryly. He took a glance at Kanae, smiling ever so charming at him.

"Shinazugawa-kun, you've done your best," she said in a whisper. The smell of wisteria was getting stronger and made Sanemi's chest tighten. He wanted to cry at that very moment.

"Kochou, I—" Sanemi began to sob. His body felt weak and collapsed in Kanae's arms. "I'm sorry."

With the tenderness on her fingers, Kanae gently stroked Sanemi's back. She hummed like a mother trying to soothe her frightened baby. Sanemi unknowingly lost in the caress and his clothes were no longer soiled with blood. His appearance returned to be unsullied, just like back when he had not known demons and battles.

Wind, wind, tell me

Wind, wind, tell me

Wind, wind, tell me

Kanae loosen her embrace and stared at Sanemi's untarnished face. Free of injuries. "Shinazugawa-kun, it's time for us to go now."

She held Sanemi's hand without hesitation and they walked together, hand in hand. This time, Sanemi smiled sincerely and followed Kanae's footsteps towards another light with the strong scent of wisteria. He started seeing more colors other than white and it made his heart swelled with warmth.

"Kochou, now I know the color of your eyes." The grip strengthened. "From now on, I want to always see them."

The end
