A pale mon peeked through the entrance to a cave, the stones underpaw were sharp and bumpy the deeper you go in. a mouse scurried around, it's nose twitching at every crevice. It's small beady eyes looking right and left, as it scurried out more. The more it became so relaxed… so peaceful… so unsuspecting…
SMACK!
The mouse found itself wriggling under a paw as thin claws hooked it up by its tail, holding it to eye level as two green eyes glimmered in the dark. "Why hello there, my little friend; how nice to meet you at last…" a voice spoke through the darkness, throwing the mouse across the cave. It landed with a thud, and attempted to scurry away.
A black tom stepped out of the shadows as he watched it scurry towards the cave entrance, his pink scar over one of his eyes showed up in the moonlight. "Leaving so soon? You sadden my poor heart." The tom meowed, before lunging forward at it with claws unsheathed. The mouse managed to scurry out of reach, and the black tom landed on nothing, claws scratching the stones. The mouse avoided the cave entrance and ducked behind a rock, shivering and quaking in its fur.
The black tom straightened, and wandered around the cave while his eyes were trained on the rock that the mouse hid behind. "To be abandoned by a brand new friend, oh the pain that fills my heart. I can tell you are hungry, I can tell that you came out in search in food. I am hungry as well, why don't we meet for something to… bite!"
The black tom pounced again, latching his claws onto its warm body. His eyes staring down at his prey with a great hunger in his eyes, his jaws parted to show his teeth. Preparing to launch forward and sink into the mouse's neck, his eyes gleaming with a great interest.
"Archscar!"
The black tom raised his head to stare over at the new comer, his eyes narrowed before turning back to the mouse. "You made me lose my lunch, Lionfire." The tom meowed as he parted his paws to show an empty space, standing on all fours he met eyes with the golden tabby tom that stood at the entrance. His neck fur long much like a Lion's.
Lionfire stepped deeper into the den, his large paws treading carefully as Archscar raised one small paw to lick. Before running it over his fur, the black tom glared at the golden tabby tom as he settled down. "You were not back in camp with the rest of the patrol; I came to check to make sure you are okay. And I hope that you were planning on bringing back that mouse to the clan."
The black tom shook out his thin pelt, his green eyes lot leaving the golden tabby's amber. "I'm sorry, I must've lost track of time." Meowed Archscar, his fur fluffing out before settling down again.
Lionfire signaled with his tail, Archscar approached the tom's side and sat down. The golden tabby tom loomed over the black tom's smaller frame, the two toms didn't meet eyes as they stared out across the territory. "Lost track of time, the sun has long since set since you were supposed to return." Lionfire meowed, his amber eyes trained out in front of him.
"There were still plenty of prey to hunt for the clan." Archscar meowed, his black tail flicking.
"Prey is not the issue, if you have gotten attacked…"
"I don't need my older half-brother to watch over me all the time, I can take care of myself." Archscar growled.
"I never said anything like that."
"You implied it though." Growled Archscar.
The black tom hunched over his shoulders, his green eyes narrow slits. His paws neatly tucked under him as he continued to stare out at what was in front of him, the golden tabby tom flicked his tail. "We should head back to camp, the clan will wonder where we are." Lionfire meowed.
"Oh of course, you and your family… and high rank!" Archscar growled.
"You can have a family yourself Archscar, there are plenty of she-cats who you could sway." Lionfire meowed.
"And do what? There is no point in that Archscar, you have your responsibilities now leave me to mine." Archscar grumbled, before turning around to flick his tail dismissively at Lionfire.
"My duties are not that different than yours, only slightly more unbearable." Lionfire returned.
"Oh… but I got the morsel of the mouse, while you got the rest." The black tom returned, not turning his head to look back at the golden tabby tom.
