The fire crackled in the old brick chimney place. Lacing the whole house in a cozy camp fire smell. Just outside the window, snow fell in beautiful snowflakes. Making the setting even more prefect.
Lucy was bunched up in blankets, on their couch. The blonde very much loved the feel of winter but hated the cold. She wore the thickest of her wardrobe and yet she was still freezing.
Beside her sat her book and hot chocolate. left to cool, untouched for the time being.
She glanced up at the old hardwood clock, hanging up on one of the cream white colored walls. The color she insisted on repainting his house with.
The clock read ten p.m. sharp.
He was supposed to be home thirty minutes ago and she was starting to get anxious. He was usually early when coming back from missions. So this was a surprise, though she believed he would be just fine. He always was.
Then there was the sound she had been waiting for all night. The sound of keys jiggling and the lock at the front door being unlocked.
Natsu quickly shoved himself inside the door, his pack almost caught in the action. He was trying to keep the cold air out of the nice toasty house.
"I'm home." Natsu declared. Though not as loud as he usually would, since it was late and all.
He had to go on a solo mission for the weekend. The client had placed a special requested him.
The job was to in unfreeze all of the canals in Hargon. The port city needed to let in ships with winter gear for the residence of the area.
But with the constant snow fall in the last day, it was making it very difficult to. He had finally melted the last of the ice the ship needed removed an hour ago.
Even after that he still had to ride the train all the way back to magnolia.
"Hey there handsome." Lucy called from the couch. Only bothering to tilt her head back at him.
"I would get up but then I would have to take off my blanket." she said. Kicking her legs just enough to bring attention to the fuzzy grey cloth draped over her.
Giving her a quick wave, He started the trek to their room.
Natsu walked through the living room and into the short hall that had three different doors within it. The door on the right was a bathroom and the other side had their bedroom. If you went straight you were meet with the guest bedroom.
He walked into their bedroom and set his pack down by the closet, He would get to putting stuff away later.
He then slipped off his snow boots, heavy jacket, and jeans. Putting on some gray sweat pants and leaving his red t-shirt on.
Walking back out he headed straight for his girlfriend.
He quickly and smoothly, yanked the weighted blanket off her and then grabbed her wrist to pull her up too.
He plunked himself into the couch, laying on his back.
"Well are u just going to stand there and catch flies or are you going to come cuddle?" He asked, a deep chuckle helped to wrap up his sentence. Patting his chest at the same time, as if he were calling a dog up on the couch.
She then climbed on top of him, mumbling something along the lines of 'You are such a jackass.'
Once she was comfy he threw the blanket back over them and wrapped his arms tight around her waist.
It was pretty quiet for a little while, both enjoying the others company. Well till Lucy whispered softly, "Natsu my nose is really cold."
Showing emphasis, she rubbed her nose into his chest.
He responded with, "Well let me see what I can do about that." In a quiet whisper as well. trying to match her volume.
He sat up slightly, moving her along as well. His hand going to cup her chin. He dragged it along her arm the entire way though. When it finally stopped he had brought her face inches from his.
He then leaned in and placed a peck on her nose. Making sure after he pulled away the presence of his warm breath was left.
The fire popped and cracked with dying flames. Hot chocolate had turned cold now. Leaving soggy marshmallows clinging to the insides of the cup.
"Hey Natsu?" Lucy asked. Her voice no longer in a whisper.
"Yeah Luce?" Natsu replied with. Again matching her volume.
"My lips are cold."
