Subaru Natsuki leaned against the orange brick walls of his school. The area was empty, a soft breeze touched his bruised skin. His tracksuit was ruffled and concealed a bit of dried blood. Yui Kamaki was the perpetrator for this act of violence, his life goal seemed to be to make his life a living hell. Subaru recalled that their first encounter was neutral, neither having said no more than five words to each other.
The young man had eventually came to the conclusion that Yui thought that their limited interaction was disrespectful. Although, that didn't really matter, as his body ached from the bullies harsh blows. Subaru noted that during the one-sided brawl he had gained another VIT stat, this allowed his health to rise by another fifty points.
"Status," the young man mumbled, his voice laced with pain, but the excitement could be clearly heard. A translucent page filled with information about himself rested in front of his scary eyes.

Subaru smiled as he immediately allocated his newly earned stat points into GAT, the total amount of points in that stat were thirty-eight. The young man had learnt early on that GAT somehow increased the amount of mana, one point in that stat awarded him fifty MP. Thirty-eight GAT points multiplier by fifty equaled two-thousand, one hundred MP. Subaru thought that his growth in MP. was bad considering that he only had one hundred and fifty in that particular stat to begin with.
Mana normally allowed a someone to use magic, which was incredible useful for combat. Knowing this, Subaru had tried to use some low-levelled spells from his favourite video games, with the hopes of kicking Yui's ass. Unfortunately, he had utterly failed to accomplish a level one spell. His MP didn't even lessen when he tried to utilise a spell, the young man was lucky enough that no one was watching him in that embarrassing moment.
Sighing at the bitter memory, Subaru opened his inventory and pulled out a potion like it was routine. Unfortunately, the beatings had begun a month after he begun to attend high school and after gaining this power nine months ago, he had quickly assigned his single perk point towards alchemy, hoping to be able to make some mythical sword, but it seemed that his life was full of disappointment, as all he could make was potions with his current level.
His two other perks were naturally in play before he gained this power, as animals seemed to flock him wherever he went and he had always been rather good with his hands. The young man had even saw perks that were combat oriented, such as swordplay or polearms. Subaru often gazed at them with a look of hungry, his mind focused on how awesome he would be, but those perks would necessarily help him survive school. Rather, fighting back against Yui would only piss him off more.
Gripping the small glass vial that he had brought at the local chemist, he gently pulled the cork off and sipped the red liquid that was within. The potion tasted like strawberry, as he had added sugar and strawberry to increase the healing rate and effect. The healing effect would stay the same no matter how fast he drank the potion, as he had learnt this fun fact through trail and error. His yellow bruises disappeared to the pale skin of someone who preferred to stay indoors. He looked rather normal, it was a dramatic improvement from his sorry appearance only seconds ago.
Subaru eagerly stood up, stretching his body in an over exaggerated fashion, as if to prove that the potion was the real deal. After flattening his tracksuit and patting the ceases down, he begun to walk the streets that made the city that was Tokyo. Cars that varied in colour drove against the asphalt at a standard speed. The footpath was claimed by both men and women that differed in age, each dressed in spotless business suits and had a tired look in their eyes. The young man stuck out like a sore thumb in his white, orange and black tracksuit against the black and grey suits. He felt a little under dressed in the crowd, he could faintly hear several teenagers talk about his less than appealing choice of clothing.
After parting ways with the work force, Subaru made his way to a local convenience store that was a couple of blocks away from his small apartment. The building was made out of cement, large glass panes looked like mirrors in the dying light. The roof was flat and the front entrance had neon lights that seemed to blaze in the setting sun. He didn't hesitate before he wandered inside. The automatic doors revealed that there was no one inside, save for the cute female cashier. The employee seemed to notice him immediately and waved eagerly, Subaru responded in kind.

He went to this store often, purchasing manga and instant ramen and somehow had increased increased his reputation with Yume, who seemed to be on shift no matter the weather. "Yo, Subaru!" She yelled, as if inviting him over, he briefly contemplated if he wanted to browsed the latest manga in the stead of talking to a cute woman. He quickly diminished this thought, imagining the furry he would suffer if he even so much as showed signs of ignoring the cashier. He swiftly picked out a cup of noodles and a packet of salted chips, walking towards the cashier.
"Hi, Yu-," the young man didn't get to finish his sentence, as the woman pulled his hand. Forcing him to move close to her, Yume inspected his clothing with disgust. As if suspecting that he had been beaten by his ruffled appearance. "Yui still giving to trouble?" Her voice sounded concerned, but yet her brown eyebrows were narrowed in white hot furry, the woman looked like she wanted to beat the bully to a bloody pulp. Subaru, not wanting to worry his only friend with his problems, waved his hand in a easygoing manner, as if to dismiss her concern.
"Don't worry, Yui is just a big weakling."
"Oh really? Than what's with all the blood on you tracksuit." It wasn't a question, it was an observation and Yume sounded furiously. He swiftly prayed to god that Yui would never met this women, or he would be given a one way ticket to hell, but despite this thought, Subaru couldn't help but smiled in happiness. H was glad that he had a friend who would look out for him so earnestly. Especially when his parents had left him to his own devices a year ago.
He quickly shook his head to make the thoughts of his parents disappear and quickly continued to converse with his friend. Their conversation quickly swayed to the latest manga and anime that had been released in the past week. Laughter followed after every joke and the sound of friendship echoed across the convenience store's walls. After the laughter ceased, their business was quickly concluded as Yume scanned the last cup of instant noodles, Subaru exchanged his hard earned yen for a receipt. He smiled at the cashier and begun to walk out of the store, but not he turned his head to his friend.
"See ya next time Yume."
She brushed a lock of brown hair behind her left ear, her eyes losing a little of their sparkle "Sure, I'll be here tomorrow." She seemed a bit dejected, as if he had somehow disappointed her in someway. The young man smiled to ease her what he assumed was sadness before he left the store. He only made it five steps before he saw a notification.

He stared at this notification for a short amount of time before he laughed like a lunatic. He couldn't believe the bullshit his ability was sprouting. Who would believe that! Subaru couldn't help but smile at ridiculous notification.

The young man's smile dropped instantly, confusion taken over his brief amusement. He could feel his body was becoming weak, as if all the energy is being sapped from it. Subaru tried to take a shaky step forward, but his body wouldn't move. His vision became engulfed in black.
