Prologue
It was extremely quick or it was extremely slow. Time didn't exist before she came to be. A bright, cold light appeared out of nowhere and began to expand until the light took form as a beautiful white diamond. She gasped and looked around at the endless space. She examined herself carefully, before calming down. The Gem had many questions, such as Who am I? and Where am I?, and she was very confused. White Diamond closed her eyes and thought of a platform to stand on. Suddenly, her gem began to glow and a platform appeared under her feet. She gasped, then thought of more platforms. And, yes, more platforms appeared. White Diamond thought of buildings and buildings appeared. She thought of a large dome and the dome appeared. White continued to build a perfect world in her image. "Amazing." She whispered, when she finished then took a long stroll around the place. White Diamond thought of a grand palace, a place where all important things would happen. The palace formed slowly and made White even happier. She entered the palace and formed several rooms, each with its own purpose. Eventually, she became lonely...so she used her newfound ability to create more Gems. The first one would have the power to shape physical forms. The second would be able to shape emotional forms. White used all of her strength to create these two Gems. They formed in front of her and were created quickly. The first was Yellow and the second was Blue. Like White, they both had diamonds of their colors.
White explained what they were and how they came to be. The new Diamonds learned quickly and used the materials that White provided to build a kingdom. After a few millennia, their world was finished. Their Homeworld. But the Diamonds were not finished. Yellow and Blue convinced White to use the materials to make new Gems. She finally agreed and Gem production began. Yellow used different formulas for materials to create different Gems. She kept fusing different materials until the first Gem was created: A beautiful Emerald. The Emerald was brought to Blue Diamond, who filled the Gem with unique emotions and explained how the government of Homeworld worked. The Gem would obey all three Diamonds and follow any orders given. As Yellow Diamond continued to make new Gems, roles began to appear for each Gem type. Emeralds would pilot fleets. Garnets would command armies to conquer and control planets. Aquamarines would assist Diamonds and perform missions as Sapphires would predict the future.
Homeworld began to take shape and new Gems were created. After a while, Yellow Diamond decided to create and use injectors that would form new Gems. Blue Diamond continued to teach Gems of their roles and enforce diplomacy. White Diamond stood by and viewed Homeworld, controlling everything from behind the scenes. Her ability to create things began to fade, but she was still extremely powerful. While Homeworld rose, though, it also fell. A few of the Gems began to step out of line and act without instructions. So, White created a device called the Rejuvenator, which would "reset" Gems mentally to their initial form. Many years passed and many colonies were formed. Homeworld began to grow and grow, but something incredible has happened. Yellow was creating a few elite Gems by hand and accidently used the wrong element in her formula. A new Gem was created and her name was Pink Diamond. This is where our story begins.
Chapter One
Yellow burst into White's room and looked extremely anxious. White Diamond stood up from her throne and smiled, showing off her perfect teeth, surrounded by her gleaming black lips. "Yellow." She said. "It is extremely rude to come in without invitation.
Yellow shook her head and dropped to her knees. White tilted her head and grabbed Yellow by the chin. She stared into the black diamonds, surrounded by the yellow pupils. "Is something wrong, Yellow?" White asked, putting power into her words.
"Hello!" A new, unfamiliar voice exclaimed. White let go of Yellow and turned to a pink Gem. She looked exactly like any other Diamond...but she was smaller. White looked back at Yellow and her smile faded slowly.. She turned back to the pink Gem and motioned for her to come closer. Pink obeyed and moved closer to White. "She looks like a...Diamond." White commented and Pink frowned.
"I am a Diamond!" She exclaimed and White smiled.
"I like this Gem." White Diamond concluded and Yellow let out a deep sigh of relief.
"I was creating a few Sapphires and Agates, White. I accidently made her and I'm so sorry-" Yellow started, but White held up a finger.
"Sorry for creating another Diamond to enforce perfection?" White asked and Yellow squinted.
"Uh...no?" She stuttered and White laughed. Pink joined in and soon, even Yellow was laughing, obviously confused. "Wait." Yellow interrupted the laughter. "So, you aren't mad?" White gasped, turning to Yellow with a joyous grin.
"Mad? Why would I be mad at my best friend?" White asked, smiling brighter. She turned to Pink and allowed the Diamond to stand on her hand. White brought Pink closer, then pointed at her beautiful gem. "Pink Diamond, I grant you the power of life and " Pink tilted her head and shrugged.
"Okay!" She said simply, then jumped off White's hand and floated to the ground gracefully. Pink skipped out of the room, followed by a very confused Yellow Diamond. Immediately after the two left, the doors slammed shut and White screamed.
She paced around the room, glowing brighter and brighter with each step. How could Yellow do this? Put Homeworld at risk of being led by a flawed Gem? Obviously, Pink Diamond was perfect...right? Yes, right. All Gems were perfect! They had to be perfect. White stopped pacing, then took a deep breath. Each Diamond played a key role in Homeworld and without one, the others would fail. She took another breath, then smiled.
"Perfect." White concluded, then sat down on her throne. There were many matters to be discussed, now that there was a new Diamond. White Diamond thought for a moment, then touched her gem gently. "It certainly has been a while since I've asked for a favor, but just this once." She whispered and her gem glowed, as if it were responding. She stood up and opened her throne room doors, walking down the long hall.
White continued down the hall until she reached Blue Diamond's throne room and she opened the door quickly. Blue was viewing a colony on a panel and smiled at White's entrance. "Hello, White! I was just about to contact you about-" Blue started, but White held up a finger.
"I did not come in here for conversation." She said lightly, adding a radiant smile. Blue's expression darkened, but the Diamond nodded. White nodded back and looked at Blue's Pearl. "If you are of any use, you will escort Blue Diamond to the Meeting Room, broadcast an alert of the meeting, then write a transcript. Am I understood?"
Blue Pearl nodded. "Yes, my Diamond."
White turned around and exited the room. The doors closed automatically and White's gem glowed again. She walked to Yellow's room and knocked three times, a signal for a meeting. Then, White reached her final destination: The Grand Meeting Room. She walked in and sat down on the throne at the end of the marble table.
The other Diamonds entered carefully and sat down in their seats. The doors closed shortly and the meeting had officially began. Blue Pearl opened a panel, ready to type the transcript.
"The seventh Grand Meeting has begun." White said in a sing-song tone and slowly put her fingers on the table. "As you all know, there is a new Diamond."
Blue opened her mouth to argue that she did not know, but White turned to her and widened her eyes. Blue didn't say anything and Yellow sat there awkwardly. White smiled gently, then closed her eyes. A clear projection was emitted from the light of her gem and the other Diamonds viewed it closely.
"My power to create items at my will is fading. I understand this is why we have colonies, but the resources from those will only last so long. Finite is not flawless as infinite is perfect. I would like a report on the number of colonies we currently have." White said, waiting for them to answer. Blue cleared her throat and looked at her Pearl, who was kind enough to show the number on her tablet. Blue looked at White and returned her smile, though it was filled with fear.
"Twelve planetary bodies and we are in pursuit of one star system, White." Blue replied softly and White drummed her fingers on the table, before nodding quickly.
"Acceptable. Now, we must speak of this Pink Diamond." White said and even Blue Pearl feared what White would say. "She seems to be...how do you say...flawed. With proper guidance, meaning you two, I am sure she can become as radiant as we are. If she acts out of place, there is a solution for that. Blue, tell your Pearl to retrieve Pink Diamond. We must talk."
Blue Pearl stood up and walked out of the meeting. She returned with Pink Diamond, who jumped onto the table and stood there, since the chair was too large for her. White turned to Pink and smiled. Pink returned the smile, adding her own silliness to it.
"Pink, do you understand your role in the hierarchy of Homeworld? You cannot afford to make a single mistake or everything shall be ruined. You must become a leader and if you show flawless colors, then I will consider giving you a colony." White said and Pink scratched her head.
"Uh...what's a colony? Is it fun? I like fun." She said and spun around quickly, ending in a joyful pose. White tilted her head and stuttered for a while. Blue glanced at Yellow and they had a silent conversation.
I like this Gem, Blue mouthed.
Well, I made her.
Yellow, sometimes your jokes are over the top.
Um…
Wait...don't tell me you're serious!?
It was an accident! Anyways, White seems to be...handling...it…
Yellow and Blue looked at White who was examining Pink closely. The eldest Diamond lifted the youngest by her foot and peered into her eyes. They had the signature look of a Diamond, black diamonds inside pink pupils, but she was certainly...odd. White couldn't tell if it wasn't her look (she would have to talk to Yellow personally about that) or her personality (which would be Blue's department). It certainly was strange having another Diamond, but White decided to not express her concern. She placed Pink down and sighed.
"Pink, we have finite resources. To gain more resources, we take over other planets." White explained.
"Why do you need resources?" Pink asked.
"To expand Homeworld and create new Gems."
"Why do you need to do that?"
"To...To become a powerful civilization."
"Why do you need to do that?"
White was gritting her teeth and her aura was growing stronger quickly. Yellow and Blue were watching anxiously, worried that Pink would get herself poofed...or worse. "Because I want to."
Pink put her hands on her hips and squinted, a smile tugging at her lips. "But...why...do...you...want to?" She asked, emphasizing each word with her own power.
White screamed in frustration and swept her hand across the table. Blue gasped and Yellow gawked at what she saw. Pink had blocked the attack with some type of...bubble. White stared at her for a while, then lowered her hand. Pink knew she had won and popped her bubble. "Where's my colony?" She asked.
White smiled, standing up slowly. She bent down toward Pink until they were face to face. "You...aren't...getting...one, Starlight." White said, putting the same amount of force into her words, then exited the room.
