ADMITTEDLY STRANGE THINGS came to Seven as easy as breathing, without a doubt the strange and unusual had always been attracted to her for as like as she could remember, almost like a moth is attracted to the light. It all had to do with the fact that she was born and raised in a top-secret laboratory. Seven is a somewhat-failed experiment from Hawkins Lab — failure enough for papa to decide to kill her but not failure enough to let him kill her.
At the time Seven, only thirteen, didn't understand the words kill but when the white-coats came at her with a needle filled with a strange-looking liquid, she had panicked. She had failed another test and there were so many white coats, she knew she was in trouble at the very least, Seven closed her eyes and screamed and everything became silent. When she opened them, she was in a dark and cold place — a forest she would come to learn. The wind was blowing through her hair, a strange feeling she would come to love, and what she would come to learn, the Hawkins Lab, looming over her and Seven ran. She ran and ran until she couldn't breath and everything went dark.
When she woke up again, she was somewhere warm, and covered in soft blankets. A woman who called herself, Margo Buckley, had found her passed out cold in her backyard and had taken her in. Margo had thought she was a high school student who was on drugs and had carried her into her house and let her crash on the couch. However, Margo was quick to realise after Seven woke up that wasn't the case. Seven wasn't a teenager, she was a child in trouble.
At first Margo believed that Seven was someone who ran away from a cult until she first saw Seven teleport and then came to the horrifying realisation that Seven's story about the Hawkins Lab is completely true. And so, Margo does what any rational person would do, she takes takes Seven in without another question. They come up with a story that one of Margo's partners had died in a car accident and they left Seven ( or Birdie as Seven decided to call herself even though Margo tried to convince her not to ) in her care because they had no other family. And that was that.
Everything was peaceful for three years, the white-coats never came looking her because they believed she had teleported into another dimension and believed they couldn't get her back, she was home-schooled as a precaution and only interacted with Margo's niece on occasion, their next neighbours, the Wheelers, and Steve Harrington. Of course, Birdie's peace is shattered the night Will Byers goes missing and a connection to him, another escaped experiment, and the Upside Down is born.

I can't believe I'm actually publishing this plot? like after three, four years? I came up with it shortly after season one came out and I watched it and fell in love with pretty much every character! Of course this version is a lot different than the original ( *cough* the OC was a Carrie White wannabe that was actually taken out of the lab with permission from a scientist ( which used to be an old version of Margo ) and she happened to be Sara Hopper but since I've come up with the plot the dates of Sara's birth and death have been released and uhhhh they didn't add up so I changed that in this version and gave Sara and older sister and Hopper another daughter because Hopper deserves more kids! He's a great father ( he's just a little clueless when it comes to Wendy's exact situation, you'll see what I mean in chapter one ? ﾟﾑﾀ? ) I'm literally so excited for this! I hope you all are too, thanks for reading!

Her Nancy Wheeler fic 'Philophobia' ( this fic can be found on Wattpad or Quotev ) inspired me to write a one-shot for Birdie's character and then she helped me plan out the plot you're reading now, so you owe it all to her, she's the reason that I actually published the book and not just a one-shot ( which ironically I still haven't posted that yet ) so go check her out because she deserves all the love in the world for being an amazing friend and writer! I personally would not treat someone who has these mental illnesses they way that I write some people treating these characters, unfortunately, it's just how they would've done back then.
