Hey guys! I'm back. I understand that this is a difficult time for everybody so I want to say a big thank you and well done to everyone for playing their part, even if it is small like staying indoors. You are still making a difference. I thought that since I have some free time on my hands now, I would try to write a new fanfic. Partly to help me, but also to help you. I've been reading some that help lift my spirits when I'm down and I hope that my story can do the same for some of you. Anyway, I'll stop rambling now. Hope you enjoy!

Disclaimer: I do not own any of The Mortal Instruments.

"I was wondering if Luke would let us use his old farmhouse for the reception." Izzy suggests. When I agreed to help Izzy plan her wedding, I didn't realise it would become a full time job. Simon had proposed a week ago and Izzy had not stopped talking about wedding plans. Colours schemes, dress ideas, even the decoration of her cake.

"I'll give him a ring tomorrow but I'm sure he'll be thrilled" I reply.

"Great! Now, you and I will go there the day before to decorate. I would ask Simon as well but you know what happened last time he tried to hang bunting."

I do. A couple of years ago, not long after they started dating, we decided to throw Iz a surprise birthday party. We arrived early to set up and he was stood on some step ladders, trying to put up the bunting. But he had somehow got it caught around his ankle. So when he pulled it, he managed to knock himself off the ladder. Safe to say, a night in the hospital wasn't how we'd planned on spending Izzy's birthday.

"Ooh! I know! Magnus and Alec can come as well. I'll need Magnus' designer advice since you're no help" she squeals.

I zone out as Iz starts to talk about colours and lights and seating plans. It's not that I don't care. It's just that I know she will tell at least 5 more times and I'm going to have to suffer through her and Magnus discussing what flowers would look best.

"… and that means Jace will be able to go into the kitchen when he wants without disturbing us as I know he will want to check on his chefs" I catch the end of her sentence.

"Wait, Jace?" I ask.

"Yes, Jace. My brother? Remember? He's catering for the wedding" She explains.

"Why?"

She rolls her eyes at me before speaking. "He's a chef, Clary. He cooks for in a restaurant. A five star restaurant, might I add" she explains slowly.

"How did I not know this?" To be fair, I have only met Jace a couple of times. Whenever Iz had us all round he always seemed to be busy with work. I guess I know why now.

"I don't see him that often. In fact, if I didn't drop by every now and then, I think he would forget to contact me at all. The only person he speaks to regularly is Alec and that's because they live together. But he agreed to do the food for the wedding. Which means that we get great food that you'll actually like, and not what you call fancy rabbit food."

Izzy's family are rich. Like, super rich. So I've attended a few events with her (she says it's so she's not lonely, but I know she'll find any excuse to dress me up) and they always serve this fancy food that never fills me up. There's never enough!

She carries on flicking through her binder, making notes when she spots something slightly wrong, her 'To Do List' becoming alarmingly long.

"Ooh!" she exclaims suddenly, making me jump and spill my coffee on the sofa. "How could I forget?! We're meeting Jace tomorrow, to discuss the menu, so be here and ready for 9."

I groan internally and close both eyes. Why so early? Maybe I can get out of it. "Do I have to go? Surely it doesn't need two of us to decide what to eat? You'll be fine on your own. After all, we both know that you're going to have the final say."

I open one eye to see her reaction. She doesn't look impressed. With one immaculate eyebrow raised, she sits there with her arms folded and stares at me. "There'll be free food for you to taste" she states.

"Fine. I'll be here. But you better have my coffee ready for the minute I walk through the door" I grumble.

"Great!" She smiles at me, flips her hair over her shoulder and focuses back on the binder. "Oh, and wear something nice. You want to make a good first impression, don't you?"

I stare at her confused. "Why? I've met Jace before. What's wrong with what I'm wearing now?"

Izzy blinks at me before looking me up and down. "First of all, your jeans of covered in paint stains – do you have any that are clean? Secondly, I'm pretty sure you've slept in that T-shirt at some point. And third, your hair is out of control. Again!"

"Fine! I'll try to look… I don't know. Presentable. Is that good enough?" I ask.

"I guess it'll have to do for now. But one day I will give your wardrobe a complete makeover Just you wait and see."

"Sure you will." I'll have to keep an eye on her. When Izzy wants something, there's no stopping her. Although maybe this wedding planning will distract and give me enough time to come up with a plan to stop her.

"Why are you so bothered about what I look like tomorrow, anyway? It's just your brother. I'm pretty sure he's not going to turn around and decide not to help with your wedding" I question.

When she looks at me again, there's a look in her eyes that I can't work out. Even after all these years of friendship, there are some parts to Isabelle Lightwood that I can't quite decipher. I choose to ignore it. Probably a bad idea.

"I know he won't. I just" she hesitates. "I just think that you two could really get along well."
