Hey y'all! I've wanted to write Pokeshipping, Contestshipping, Oldrivalshipping, and Ikarishipping stories for over 10 years now, but never got around to it. Since we're under a "stay at home" order here in the states, I've finally gotten a chance to chug out these stories. I'm only doing them for fun, so take 'em or leave 'em. Anyways, this story is inspired by A Life Less Adventurous by RosieShiba. This is basically the same story, but with Pokeshipping instead. Enjoy~

Also, I've already written the whole story, so don't have me change anything. :P

Chapter 1

It is a nice peaceful winter day at the Cerulean City Gym. Misty has closed the gym for the day as it is her niece's 4th birthday. After lots of help from her Pokemon, and people that her sisters had hired, the gym is nicely decorated in an aquarium theme. The tired 24 year old is finishing up the last of the decorations when she hears the door to the gym open followed by the sound of little footsteps approaching.

"AUNTIE MISTY!" a little bluenette tackles the gym leader. Misty is quick enough to bend down and meet the girl's hug before she could fall over from the low impact.

"Happy Birthday, Clem!" smiles the redhead towards the girl hugging her tightly.

As she lets go of Clementine, Violet walks into the room. Misty is greeted by a hug by her older sister. Violet had gotten pregnant five years ago while the Sensational Sisters were on one of their many tours around the world. While she claims to not know who Clementine's father is, her sisters think otherwise.

After Clementine was born, Misty was named her godmother since Violet did not want to burden her other sisters from their traveling adventures, and Misty was staying put in the gym anyway. Daisy and Lily agreed and set off for another tour a few months later with Daisy's husband, and friend of the Waterflower sisters, Tracey Sketchit. Violet, meanwhile, settled down at the Cerulean City Gym with Misty helping her. The traveling Waterflower sisters always returned for Christmases and Clementine's birthdays.

"Hey Misty!" Violet smiles at her youngest sister. "Thanks for finishing up the decorations."

"Anything for my favorite niece!" Misty flashes a smile while pinching Clementine's cheeks, much to the girl's dismay.

"Stop it, Auntie Misty." she sulks. Misty and Violet laugh at the little girl's reaction.

"Helloooooooo!"

The women snap their heads in the direction of the hallway as Daisy, Tracey, Lily, and a tall blonde man walk in. Clementine is already running to her aunts and uncle before they can fully walk into the room.

"Wow. This, like, looks totally nice, little sister!" astounds Daisy.

"Good job, Misty!" Tracey gives his long-time friend and former traveling partner a hug. Misty smiles at him and returns the hug.

"Well, like, we did pay some people to help her." Lily mentions and then smiles at Misty. "But, still, like, awesome job, little sis! Oh, and this is my boyfriend, Jake!" She refers to the tall blonde man.

Misty rolls her eyes at her carefree sisters but smiles warmly at Jake and shakes his hand. "Nice to meet you, Jake." She tells him and he flashes her a very bright smile. Leave it to Lily to be dating a supermodel. Misty notes that the man is very pretty before turning her attention away from him. "Thanks, guys. You can put the gifts over there." She then motions to a table where hers and Violet's gifts to Clementine are sitting. Tracey is, of course, carrying all three gifts while Daisy and Lily hug their niece and introduce her to Jake. Misty decides to help the poor man.

"Phew! Thanks, Misty." Tracey exclaims after they set the presents down.

She gives him a smile before looking back at Jake. "So, how long do you think this one will last?" She asks Tracey with a sly smile.

The man laughs, "I'm saying a month."

The gym leader gives him a surprised look. "Try 1 week!" With that, the two friends laugh before Misty smirks at him. "So, when are you and Daisy going to give Clem a playmate?" She raises her eyebrow suggestively, which makes him blush.

"Uh…"

Luckily for him, Clementine tackles him into a hug before he has to answer the youngest Waterflower sister.

"Hi, Uncle Tracey!" she smiles at him. "I'm 4!" Misty and Tracey can't help but smile at their cute niece.

"Whoa! Already?" Tracey exclaims. The 4 year old nods hurriedly. "Happy Birthday, Clementine!" He then throws her into the air and catches the giggling child.

"Thank you, Uncle Tracey!"

That Night

After the party, Clementine was exhausted. Close family and friends attended. Even some of the neighborhood kids Clementine plays with came. Daisy, Tracey, and Lily had left for their 5-star hotel rather than staying at the gym. Misty had since converted their bedrooms into a home office and Clementine's room. Violet had taken the tired 4 year old to bed, and the Pokemon helped carry all of her gifts. Misty is currently cleaning up with the help of the Pokemon since the gym is back for business tomorrow. The woman sighs as she is picking up the last of the wrapping paper.

"Psy?" Misty is startled by the voice and turns to find her Psyduck giving her his usual confused look.

"What is it, Psyduck?" the exhausted gym leader asks.

"Psy psy duck?"

"I'm okay. Just tired."

"Psy?" he cocks his head to the side. She can't help but smile at her confused Pokemon trying to cheer her up. The gym leader sets the trash bag down and squats down to Psyduck's eye level.

She takes a steady breath before speaking, "It seems like my sisters are settling down, but here I am: alone." Instead of responding, Psyduck just cocks his head to the other side, which makes Misty shake her head. "Mew. To think I was spilling my feelings to you." she mumbles to herself before getting up and cleaning again. To pass the time, Misty reflects on the day.

At the party

Brock had come by with his wife Roxanne and their son Granite. Misty rarely saw them since they lived in Hoenn, but they were in Kanto to visit Brock's family in Pewter City and decided to drop by. Misty was very excited to see her longtime friend as well as his 2 year old son who she hadn't seen since the child was a newborn. While Roxanne was watching Granite play with Clementine and the other young children, Brock and Misty use the opportunity to catch up.

"Have you seen Ash lately?" inquires Brock.

Misty's face turns a light shade of pink at the mention of her childhood crush's name. Unfortunately for her, Brock notices and smirks. "Uh." She stammers. "I've been too busy with the gym and Clem to really keep in touch or do anything."

Still smirking, the older man responds, "Well, according to Kanto's Most Eligible Bachelor, he is still available." Brock then winks at Misty.

The woman looks down at her hands. "Okay. Well, good for him, but he is the Kanto Champion, and single, so of course he'd be on that list." She regains her composure and returns Brock's gaze.

Adding to her annoyance, the man is still smirking, "So you knew he was single…" He says knowingly.

Misty rolls her eyes. "Brock, what do you want? Ash and I haven't talked in years. I see him every year at League meetings. That's it."

Brock's smirk seems to falter into a sad smile but he gives his friend a genuine one just as quickly, "Okay. Okay. Enough about Ash. Are you dating?"

The rest of their conversation circled around Misty telling Brock she isn't dating and isn't looking. Brock showing Misty pictures of Granite when he was younger. The two friends reminiscing about their old traveling days, and then Misty had to go help take pictures of Clementine opening presents.

Flashback over

Ash. Misty hadn't heard that name in a while. At least not in the context Brock had spoken to her about. Usually, she just heard about him at the League or from fans and magazines, but never in a familiar setting.

Ash had finally beaten the Kanto League and become its champion 4 years ago. At the age of 20, he was the youngest Kanto Champion in history. Misty, however, had been too busy helping Violet as well as raising the baby Clementine to congratulate Ash. Before she knew it, her life consisted of helping Violet raise Clementine and keeping up the gym's maintenance. Every time she would see Ash at the annual League meeting that included gym leaders, elite four members, and the champion, Ash and her were too focused on the business at hand to talk. They also never passed each other at the League, so there was no chance of small talk. Eventually, Misty had accepted that her relationship is nothing more than a childhood crush and friend that had disappeared after years of lost communication. She isn't even sure she can speak with him like they used to.

"Bzzt. Bzzt. Bzzt!" Misty's thoughts are snapped back to reality by her PokeNav vibrating. She takes off her gloves and sees Violet is calling.

"Hello." Misty answers.

"Hey, Misty! I, like, need to go out tonight. Clem is asleep in her room. Can you, like, keep an eye on her?" requests Violet. Misty lets out a sigh. While Violet is a mother, she still wants to relive her old glory days of being a Sensational Sister who went on world tours. She would frequent Cerulean Cape to meet different men every now and then, and Misty would be left babysitting Clementine. While Misty loves watching her niece, she wishes Violet would fully grow up.

"Sure." the redhead finally replies. She knows Violet would still leave regardless of her response. Violet squeals ecstatically and thanks Misty before hanging up. The redhead sees the time is 10:48PM on her pokenav. She looks around the gym and notices that most of the decorations have been cleaned up. Only the wall and ceiling decor are still up, but they shouldn't be a problem to take down tomorrow, especially with Gyarados's help. Misty claps her hands together to get her Pokemon's attention. "Okay, guys! Great job today! We can finish this up tomorrow, but let's get some rest tonight! Thank you!"

The Pokemon cry out to acknowledge their trainer's words before each one heads off to their respective sleeping chambers. Misty lets out another sigh and walks towards the door with a small dumpster worth of garbage. As she walks out the gym's backdoors, she is hit with an intense splatter of raindrops. Since Misty is already outside, she makes a quick run to the big dumpster, unloads her garbage, and then rushes back to the overhang above the backdoor. She quickly walks in with her small dumpster in tow and realizes she is now absolutely drenched. While muttering curse words to herself about a rainstorm in January, she walks towards the living quarters of the gym. A loud thunder crackles through the gym enough for Misty to feel a rumble.

"Oh, crap!" She exclaims and sprints down the hall, jams the correct key into the internal door to the room, and sprints up the stairs to Clementine's room. She opens the door and sees the little girl curled up under her blanket. Misty, still drenched, walks over and gently places a hand on the lump under the blanket. The blanket is peeled back and Clementine, seeing her aunt, instantly jumps up and hugs Misty tightly while tears stream down her cheeks.

"Auntie Misty!" She trembles. Another loud thunder erupts through the gym and Clementine shrieks.

Misty holds the girl close and keeps her head tucked into Misty's shoulder. "Wanna sleep with me tonight?" She asks. Clementine nods, and Misty carries her over to the master bedroom, which Misty had taken from Daisy years ago. The woman gives Clementine noise canceling headphones and plays some soothing music for her while Clementine hugs her Squirtle plush tightly. Misty then quickly showers and changes into clean warm clothes, dries her hair quickly with a towel, and then hops into bed beside the now quiet child.

Clementine takes off the headphones and snuggles up next to Misty. With each thunder, her body shakes less and less as she falls asleep beside her protective aunt. Misty lets out a sigh as she watches her niece sleep. The woman runs her hand through the girl's blue hair to soothe her before she also slips to sleep herself.
