Chapter 1 / prologue.

D.I. Sam Nixon wasn't really interested in the men, at Sun Hill - she just exploited their sad machismo for her own ends, to ease her workload / childcare worries, and also to try and get over the loss of Juliet – her brief protege, and secret lover, before she was tragically stabbed..

Phil was an ongoing project, though. Despite his vanity and arrogance, he was a very good copper.

He had offered genuine comfort after Juliet's death, even though he had previously declared that he wanted to shag them both, given the chance. Highly unlikely though, as Juliet was way, WAY, out of his fantasy league..
