Quick footfalls sounded in the large hallways. Lights flashed and shouts echoed the hallways. A lone figure lurked along the sides of the temple's forbidden library. A purple crystal that was cased in a glass box was placed in the middle of a small room off to the side.
Glass broke. The glowing crystal inside a glass box shook with a pulsating power as a hand reached out to grab it. The hand took hold of it and the person screamed as the crystal overpowered its thief with ease.
The crystal fell to the ground as the figure dropped dead beside it. The shouts came closer to the scene. Once the guards arrived, all they could do was stand there and watch as the crystal floated off the ground and reposition itself back on its stand. They shifted back in their golden robes and masked faces, not daring to get too close to it.
"This crystal is alive," said one of the guards, "and no one was able to touch it for centuries."
He and his comrades started to fix the glass through the force. One of them bent over to study the intruder. He reached out to pull out a lightsaber from under the dead man's cloak. Igniting it produced a red hue that shone off the walls. The force around them filled with intense hatred. It was turned off quickly.
"Tell the high council that this happened. They need to know that the sith are after this artifact for reasons that we do not know." Behind the leader's mask was a face of all seriousness.
"Double the alert. A sith should have not made it this far. He could have taken anything." The guards quickly split up to do their orders.
A slow sunrise shone over the sea of trees as it peaked over the mountains. Hanging upside down on a tree was a very young local of this planet. Well, she was one of the four locals that lived on the whole planet. She hung off of a tree branch with her clawed feet. Large bat wings encased her like a blanket. Large ears poked out of the bottom of the hanging figure.
As the sun shone upon her, the wings flashed dark purple for a second and then died away. Unlike most bat-like creatures, she slept during the night and took energy from the sun. She unfolded herself and let go of the tree to go instantly into flight. She was quite small and if she was human, she would look to be 5 years old. Her actual age was 20 times that, about a century. Her brown hair flew back out of her face as her ears folded back to get into a more aero position. Her skin was pale and her hands were humanoid.
She flew over the blue-tinted trees that reminded her of the seas. This was hers, her land. The others split the planet into four corners of the world, she owned a part of it. She was the youngest of the four while the others lived to be over 15 centuries old. She was only a child in this world.
As she flew, she felt the presence of her "friend" who pushed her alone and made the wind split ahead of her as well to make her rocket through the sky. It was as if she could control everything around her but letting her friend do it on its own was way more fun. She laughed as she broke the sound barrier.
Today was going to be a good day for her. She decided that today was the day that she would try to talk to her friend. Today she found out who it was.
The force seemed a bit off. Master Antha sat cross-legged suspended in the air, floating above her stool that she was sitting on. Her pale skin glowed and her white hair floated around her. Her eyes were closed and her mind was deep into concentration. Recently, she felt a tremor in the force that she never experienced before.
Could this be the dark side? She thought. It was too bright of a flash to be the dark side but how would she know. She just became a master a few months ago and she never faced the dark side before. Only in sith crystals did she feel a semi-dark presence.
She opened her eyes but she was surprised to not see the room she was sitting in. Instead, she sat on a mountain top that looked down to a great valley below. The trees were green with the soft colour blue dusted over them. The sky was light blue with a tint of orange that came from the sunrise from the double suns that slowly rotated around each other. She had landed herself in a different star system.
Where was she? At that instant, the mountain she was on began to shake. This planet was strong with the force and it was becoming restless. It was like the planet itself was a force controlling being.
Her vision suddenly went black. A dark wave went through her almost causing her to scream in pain. She slowly got her vision back and what she saw shook her to the core.
The valley below her was in flames and the sky was dark red. She was still on the mountain top but she could feel the heat from there. Mechanical clanking was coming from the distance.
Her heart jumped. Battle droids? Why were there so many? Taken aback from the number of droids she stumbled backward and fell into a crevasse in the mountain. She let out a shout as she tried to reach out to the force to control her fall but failed.
Hitting the rocky ground, she was surprised that she didn't feel pain. She slowly got herself back on her feet and found that she was in a cave. A noise came from a dark corner of the cave. Antha reached for where her lightsaber is usually held but found only a bare belt.
The force was non-existent since she couldn't even do a simple scan of the area to find out what it was. A small sob came from the corner.
"Help me."
It sounded like a child. The frail voice of a small girl continued to cry. Antha cautiously stepped closer. The dark was beginning to fade unnaturally and she finally saw the small girl in the corner. It was only a split second that Antha saw her then they made eye contact.
Another wave of dark rushed over her. She stumbled back from the strong force. This time there was no pain and it felt light and dark at the same time. She shut her eyes tight and lied on the ground waiting for it to end.
What is this? She thought as she started to feel the power subside. She opened her eyes cautiously, expecting to be in the cave.
She found herself against the wall in her room. The stool she was on was thrown across the room. She laid there for a few minutes until a young padawan opened the door into her room.
"Are you ok master? I heard you fall. What happened?" The padawan looked worried. Master Antha stood up and dusted herself off. Her skin no longer glowed and her hair was pulled down by gravity. She looked at the padawan.
"I don't know. I need to see the council immediately." She walked out quickly.
She saw a vision. She knew it was given to her by the force. This was going to happen somewhere, sometime in the future.
"If you're there, please talk to me." The young girl faced up into the sky. Her wings steadied her so she could stand on the top of the tallest tree. "Just one word? Please." She could feel her friend swirling around her. She was lifted off the tree branch and was suspended in the air.
"Hi!" She exclaimed. It then dawned on her that maybe her friend couldn't speak. She sadly looked into the sky.
"I'm sorry, you must really want to talk but you can't." She took off higher into the air. She was confused since her friend never took her this high.
She broke out of the atmosphere and she began to use her second pair of lungs for space. She floated there for a few minutes.
"What are you doing?' She tried to say but even she couldn't hear it since the silence of space overpowered her voice. A cloud of space dust floated toward her. She knew that was her friend and she reached out for it.
The cloud started to take the form of a humanoid and the girl smiled at it reaching for it more. The cloud reached out to touch her forehead and she let it.
Zara, The voice was clear and soothing. Her friend said her name. Her friend talked to her.
She spread her wings in excitement and let out a silent laugh. The cloud looked amused and spoke again.
What you seek does not lie here. Zara's joy turned to confusion. The cloud smiled at her then disappeared. The only thing it left behind was an echo.
Goodbye for a while. Zara was crushed and she desperately tried to fly after the cloud as it's force pushed her back down to the planet below. Why would it leave her like this?
She touched down at the top of a mountain. Saddened, she reached her hand for the sky in a desperate attempt to bring it back. The world around her shook and the ground beneath her cracked. The world shifted a bit and she fell backwards, stopping the shaking.
Well, that was a waste of time. She thought.
The high council was in a meeting when the force was put into static. Master Hugo stood out of his chair and addressed the council.
"Did you all feel that?" The others looked as shook as Hugo. Master Yoda closed his eyes and looked through the tangled force. It was quite difficult to get an answer through the mess.
"Schedule another meeting, we will. Until then, Find what is wrong, we will try. " The other masters nodded and walked out to the room only to find Master Antha running toward them.
"Fellow Masters! I have something to tell you!" She stopped in front of the group. "I saw something, a vision. It was a planet with light and dark and battle droids…" She was cut off by master Hugo.
"Calm down. The force is quite troubled right now so it was possible that you saw a result of this anomaly. I wouldn't worry about it." The other masters nodded and started to walk away until it was just master Yoda and Antha.
"Please master. I know what I saw was the future and it is bad." Master Yoda hummed in thought for a second then spoke.
"What you saw, real it could be. Understand it, only you can. Trust it, only you decide." She pursed her lips in a line and her eyebrows dropped.
"I was hoping for a more helpful answer but fine. I guess I'll look for it on my own." She quickly strutted away. Yoda grinned and shook his head. He then slowly stepped toward his room. To get there would take the rest of the day. Yoda sighed.
