Hello there. It's been a while my friends. I fell into a depression late last year, even while writing True King. I just couldn't find it in me to write anymore, and my writing kind of didn't go as well as I wanted it to. I wasn't performing well. Anyways, I am finally working on getting my depression under control and I also wanted to get back into writing. I challenged myself to write again and also try to write a better story. Without a beta, I can only do so much, but I try to proofread my work better. I also try to add a bit more detail to my stories. Anyway, this is the new story of mine that I challenged myself to write.

I hope you enjoy this prologue. I own nothing. Enjoy.

Shido Itsuka. That's the name of the average height child currently on his back on the polar white mat. Standing over him, was a middle aged Japanese man with a well groomed thin mustache. With messy black hair, the man had a crazy kind of appearance, at first glance. His facial features would reveal he was a calm person. In this room were several other students of various ages, all older than Shido. There was even someone older than the man above Shido. It was a dojo.

"That was a good effort, but you need to work on your balance more. Your defense is easily broken. Widen your legs slightly and hold firm, but not stiff." The man spoke with a calm voice.

"But Sensei! I could never defend against you! You're so much bigger than me!"

"With that kind of thinking, you are right. You never could… but with the proper technique and a little bit more upper body strength, you could defend and defeat me. You're new at this Shido but you'll get there." He spoke before smiling, and offering a hand to the blue haired boy. Shido Itsuka had straight black hair and amber brown eyes. He was fairly average looking but unknown to him, there was a power brewing.

"I… I can't. I've reached my limit!" Shido replied, accepting the hand and standing up.

"You're limit?" The Dojo master said. "Who decides what your limit is? Instead of overthinking your setbacks, just focus on moving forward."

"I… yes Sensei." Shido said in submission.

"Alright class. I hope to see you all again soon. Kiba, practice your stance a bit more. You are leaving yourself wide open when you attack. Tsukune, watch your flank more. You should bring your arms closer to your center, not your head. Ichka, careful with overextending your reach. If they get in your range while you are overextended, you'll find yourself in a bad spot. Class dismissed." The Dojo master spoke.

As the class moved around to gather their belongings, the master turned. "Shido, a moment before you go." He spoke. The class emptied out of the dojo, leaving the duo alone. "A couple things. First, I would like to schedule you for private tutoring. You are not progressing as well as I want you to, and I think you would do well under a more private tutelage."

"Are… I… I don't know what to say."

"It would be my privilege to take you to my other dojo where my friends and I train. I was thinking of offering you a chance to train under multiple masters of martial arts. How about it?"

"I… If… I would be honored."

"Wonderful. On the same note… I also notice no one picks you up in the evening… do you walk home?"

"Yes Sensei."

"May I talk to your parents then? It's really not safe to be out there on your own at your age."

"I'm fine Sensei." Shido said quietly. The master rubbed his chin, staring down at the child. His pale white glowing eyes staring down at the child.

"You have no home do you…?" He spoke quietly. Shido didn't respond, as if ashamed. The master knelt down and placed his hands upon Shido's shoulders. "It's alright. You can come live with me."

"I… I can't. I'm sorry. I have somewhere to be. Sorry Sensei!" Shido said, running out of the dojo with his shoes on his shoulder.

"Shido wait!" The master called, but he did not give chase. With a sigh, the owner of the dojo went to start sweeping up the dojo before mopping.

Shido ran from the dojo as fast as he could, traveling across grassy parks, gravel and sand, mud and dirt. Shido ran and ran, finally arriving at his destination. A small local market. Entering the market, Shido picked up a quart of milk and two cans of tuna. Fishing in his pocket, Shido placed a few yen on the counter.

"You come in here every night kid… yet I've never seen you with your parents. Are you ok?"

"Yes sir." Shido spoke, before running out of the market. The cashier sighed and shook his head. It was time to close up. With that, the cashier locked the door and started to sweep up after turning the open sign to closed.

Shido ran off once more passing through a grassy park before ending up in an alley way half a mile away from the market. Located inside this alley, was a large cardboard box. The box was facing upright, as if it was a package. The lid was open and inside of the box was a cat and small powder blue saucer. Shido didn't approach, for their was a being there, crouched and petting the cat who was purring loudly, as if a tiny motor was revving.

'Wow…' Shido thought. "Beautiful." He said, only to cover his mouth with his hands. The figure looked up and locked eyes on Shido. The figure stood up, staring at Shido with a lazy smirk on her face.

"Well, this is unexpected." She spoke, her low sultry voice calling out to Shido's ears. The girl was in her late teens, around seventeen or eighteen. She had ivory skin and long black hair. Her black hair was tied up in uneven twin tails with her left side being waist length while the right was shoulder length. Her right eye was red like blood and her left eye was a stunning golden, with a clock face design inside. She was wearing an elegant Gothic Lolita dress, with crimson and black frills. She also had a crimson and black net bow on her head. A collar of a similar color scheme could be found around her neck. Her eyes locked onto the can of tuna in the shopping bag as well as the quart of milk. She looked down at the cat in the box as well as the saucer. It clicked in her head. "Oh my… how unexpected. Well, what are you waiting for? Aren't you taking care of this cat?" The girl spoke, a hint of danger and mischievousness coming from her voice and eyes. Playful mirth more like it.

Shido responded robotically, stuttering forward, staring at her. He was captivated by this woman. The woman smirked, seeing the response that the little boy had to her and was about to speak again when he shook his head and regained his senses. She moved aside, letting the boy kneel down and pour milk into the saucer as well as open the can of tuna with the pop-top. He placed the tuna down into the box next to the saucer, before sitting down on the ground against the wall, pulling the box closer to his side as he opened up his own can of tuna. While all this was happening, the woman stared at Shido, studying the boy.

'He smells… like a spirit, but he's no spirit…' She thought, staring at the boy. "What is your name?" She asked, her voice demanding his attention in which he gave it in full.

"Shido… Shido Itsuka." He said in nervousness.

"Kurumi Tokisaki. You're an interesting person… I will be keeping tabs on you. Farewell." She said, disappearing off into the street. If Shido had given chase, he would have seen the woman disappear into the shadows nearby, literally.

In a far away town, there was a family. A girl of six and two parents. A mother and a father, all gathered around the fireplace, playing a board game. It was a word game, where you had a set of tiles and had to form words for points. The daughter was winning, of course with the parents letting her win… but this was not the important thing. If one looked on the wall beneath the stairs, there were several hung portraits of the family. In one particular one, there was a photo of a four or five year old child being held by the father and a two or three year old held by the mother. The four or five year old was a boy… with short blue hair.

Read. Review. Moo.

So, this story is a alternate history story for Date a Live. I am changing his past as I also want to try to not follow the source material as closely as possible. I want to try to write from the top of my head. It doesn't mean I wont follow it, ill just try to do loosely.

So, I do not know if I will make this a harem fanfic or not, but its possible. Its too early in the story for me to make up my mind, but Im sure it'll be a harem story.

That being said, this story will have a main girl who gets the most screen time and that would be our lovely Kurumi Tokisaki. She is hands down the best character in the entire series. Easily. For that reason, I will be writing her in as much as possible once things get going.

I also wanted to try and write characters more closely to their actual characters, instead of making them OOC. I realized that's also not good writing either.

Well anyway, this is a prologue and I hoped my writing seemed better this time around.
