It was already past two in the morning when she felt the sudden shift in the bed; she did not have to open her eyes to know who slipped under the covers.

"Anata…" Her voice a little hoarse than the usual, Sakura slowly opened her eyes to face her husband.

He had already changed into his pajamas; she could tell he just had taken a shower. Sasuke was already intently looking at her when she directed her gaze at him. His brows furrowed as if concentrating in a battle. Concern building up inside her chest, Sakura abruptly sat up, pressing her palm into his forehead to check his temperature.

"What's wrong? Are you in any pain?" She questioned after making sure that he was not ill.

"I'm fine." He replied shortly, avoiding any eye contact with his wife.

"What are you thinking then? Did Sarada getting hurt bother you that much?" Sakura smiled teasingly to lighten up the atmosphere. "I knew you were there, watching your daughter fight. Come to think of it, why did you not mention about teaching Sarada the fireball jutsu." This time, she pouted a little, but still with a glint of teasing in her eyes.

"She suddenly asked me just the other day. I did not know she was going to use it for the chunin exams." This time, he directed his gaze at her, carefully observing her.

There was something in the way he looked at her that night; Sakura had to compose herself before asking him again.

"Aren't you going to tell me what's gotten into you?"

Sasuke looked into her after contemplating whether to say anything or brush it off. "I never got the chance to retake the chunin exams."

She blinked at him once, twice. And when he got no response in return, he took it as a sign to continue. "I thought I was going to die when we were in the forest of death. When I saw Sarada getting hurt today, it was the same feeling of helplessness when Orochimaru tried to attack the both of us."

"Anata…" Sakura tried to get closer by putting her hand on top of his.

"I knew she defeated that Puppet user from Sunagakure but seeing her in that state made me remember you, hurt and injured because both Naruto and I were knocked out. I remember being so mad at the sight. When I woke up seeing you beaten to a pulp, all I could see was red. I tried convincing myself it was because of Orochimaru's curse mark, but no, I never regretted breaking that boy's arms for doing that to you."

Sakura couldn't help but blush at the thought even though they were already married for more than ten years.

She smiled sadly. "You were always protective. Of me. Of our team." She frowned when she heard him grunt. "No, don't give me that look. Sometimes I really find it funny that your words do not match your actions."

He faced her properly this time. "Before, I used to think that I'm only protective of you because you were having a hard time catching up with us. That you getting hurt would probably take the team down. But even if I already knew you can already take care of yourself back then in the ninja war, I guess my body moved into its own accord trying to look out for you and fine, even Naruto." This time, Sasuke cleared his throat, anything to chase away the embarrassment he felt after admitting such thing to his wife.

Sakura smiled softly. "I also knew what happened back then with Gaara. Naruto kind of told me; he was shocked to hear those words from you. It would be actually fun to tease you because of that. But I also knew what happened to your clan greatly affected you."

"Aa." Without him noticing, he did not want to get stronger just to defeat Itachi.

"You wanted to protect the people who are dearest to you. And that's fine, Sasuke-kun, but Sarada is a tough girl; she's our daughter after all. I know deep down, you have the greatest faith in her; you don't have to worry about a thing. She just got a little reckless back there."

"You think I haven't told myself that? I..I even worry about you." Can you imagine how harder it must be thinking about my own daughter?

Without really thinking, Sakura pressed her lips into her husband's. "Geez, Anata." She shook her head slightly before pulling away slightly to cup both sides of her husband's cheeks. "You think I also don't worry about you just because you're one of the strongest ninja in this planet? Of course, I do. And I know you Uchihas have this kind of thing, lack of emotional intelligence.."

Sasuke scowled, but nonetheless let his wife continue. "I get it. Being protective of me..of Sarada is okay. That's normal. Because we're your family. I guess all I wanted to tell you is that..that uneasiness..that constant worry..that feeling is love, Sasuke-kun. I still don't get why you're not yourself today." She frowned. "Sarada's okay. This might be the first time you saw her hurt like that. But she's okay. I healed her myself."

After a few seconds, Sakura started giggling, retracting her hands from her husband's cheeks to clutch her stomach. "We can't have you breaking a genin's arms again, okay?"

"Tch. Go back to sleep." He turned away, proceeding to lie down on the bed.

Sakura did the same only to hug her husband from behind. "Anata?" She whispered, burying her face on his back.

"Hm?"

"Aren't we going to have sex again tonight?"

And before Sakura could think about it, Sasuke had already switched their positions with him on top of her.
