#Justice for Villains
"Hello friends, it is I, The Devil." The first words spoken by the mysterious figure who speaks behind and oddly Cartoonish-type demon mask. The figure appears to be a older man, probably around his 50's sitting at a desk speaking into a microphone that sits nearby.
"As you know, I have been working hard toward a worthy cause that will change this world for the better. Many of us are born with gifts, that many of us use for our own purpose. Few are able to use them to take on a moniker which call themselves, 'Heroes.'" The man slams his hands on his desk, "This is nothing more but lies. This is nothing more, but propaganda brought upon by these media brainwashers to lay blame on the true heroes. I. of course speak of those who now have permanent residents in jail cells."
The man quickly stands up from his seat. "These innocent people who are nothing more different than you or I. Yet these people suffer because they are designated as enemies of the corrupt laws set forth by the government. My friends, we must unite and call out these corrupt men, these 'Law Enforcers' who want nothing more than a scapegoat to help pay the checks. We must show them we are not going to take this anymore."
"My friends, rise us against this fascist authority and bring them to their knees. Show them that the true criminals are them, and not the ones who are innocently lock away. Join the movement! Say it with me! 'Justice For Villains!'" The man freezes in place as the video comes to an end, with pop-ups of suggested videos like it come into view. The group of men at the computer look on with a bit of a worried look.
"That was it, then?" One of the men asked. "The Devil certainly trying to rile up a reaction from people." The men sit murmuring over the video. Their eyes then face a person looking out a window with a coffee in his hand, slowly sipping it. "Chief," the man called out. "What should we do now?" The man at the window simply sighed.
"Nothing as of late, so far, The Devil takes a big game, but has yet to act upon it. We will continue to monitor his videos but will only act if they take a bolder step." His words didn't seem to please the men. One man scrolls down the webpage as he looks over the comments.
"We might not want to underestimate him, sir." The man at the computer looks on as he speaks. "Many of these comments seem to reflect his views and are supporting him. Sure, they're speaking now, but someone will eventually take those words into action and we cannot defend against it should they try."
"We can not let our fears get the best of us!" He said in a deep voice. "If we act without knowing what to do, we cannot assure the public that they will be safe. We would just be putting The Devil's words into reality. If we give in to the fear, he wins. As hopeless as it may seem, we cannot act unprofessionally until we know for certain what we are dealing with. So, we wait," he said taking a sip of his lukewarm coffee. "Wait for something that will ensure our actions can be justified." The chief walks to the door of the office as the men watch on before speaking to each other again.
Meanwhile, hidden deep in the alleys of abandon and damaged builds. Hidden within, a man sits at a desk looking over a laptop, viewing the same video of "The Devil." They look over the comments, eying the ones that seem to agree with the figure while seeing many either taunting him or calling him a nutjob. He sits back in his seat.
The door opens to the building, in the frame, a tall, wide figure walks in. Bulked by his gut and his arms, the man waddles inside carrying bags of supplies, approaching the person at the desk. As he reaches the light from the window, the big man is seen wearing a leather pig mask, seem to be crudely made, with stitches and cracked. The only visible features are the air holes which comes from the snout of the mask. He lays a bag on the table next to the figure at the laptop.
"So, what have the people say?" He said in a restricted gruff voice. The man at the laptop grabbed a drink from the bag and opened it before him.
"The same I'm afraid." He stands passing the pig man, as he does, his form seems to change in the shadows as he moves to the light of the window. The now smaller man suddenly takes off his mask and lays it on the table. The mask is similar to "The Devil's" mask. He leans against the window, back turned to it.
"I wanted this world to see the truth the way I have." The voice from the man seems to be in a higher octave, almost like a young man. "Seems like I cannot reach them the way I want to. I need to make my message clearer than they already are. We need to take action." He takes a drink.
"What more can we do?" The pig man asked. "Your words have spread to the masses like you want. Many have supported your movement, what is it that we need to do to make you satisfied?"
"Clearly you haven't been listening at all." The figure said in a huff. "We need to take action. People don't move until a move is made. We can talk the talk, but now, we must walk the walk. We need to show these people how to carry out this justice for the innocent. If I'm to start a revolution, I must show that someone will take initiative and act on these words I speak. Then we can begin the rise to a newer world." He takes another drink to finish it off and crush the can. "A world better for the true heroes. Now that the "Symbol of Peace" has retired, people are hungry for a new hope. We will be that hope for them. One that will stand proud before their followers."
"What's the next move then?" asked the Pig man.
The young man looks out the window. "We get arrested." He flashes a wicked grin as he looks out onto the world beyond the window.
Outside the city limits, a small police station stands just off the road, near an empty field. Police are busy at their desk answering, writing things down and answering call. The entrance door opens, and an officer is seen bringing in a suspect. One of the men meet the officer at the door, "What do we got?"
"This man tried to rob a convenience store. Simple take down by one of our heroes." The officer responded
"Alright, I'll get him in lock-up." The man approached the suspect, seeing a wide, pale complexion man wearing an ugly, black pig mask. "Let's go you." He leads him to the back where the cells are. The officer proceeds to the offices in the back as the police go about their business. Out of sight, the officer grins and begins to scan the area for the evidence room. Upon finding it, he proceeds inside, unlocking it with his keys and proceeds inside. He scans the shelves looking for something, once he sees it, he proceeds to take it and hide it in his person. He slightly opens the door to make sure the coast is clear before proceeding to walk out.
He begins to go into empty rooms and areas to plant little boxes hidden in deep nooks and crannies. After dropping off his last one, he proceeds to the cells. He meets the guard at the cell and speaks to him, "I need the pig man for fingerprinting." The officer nods and opens his cell. The pig man meets the officer and leaves the cell. As they turn out of sight, the officer undoes the cuffs on him.
"Are we set?" the pig man asked.
"Yes, go down the hall, to your left, I saw some riot gear, take that and put it on and meet me outside. There's a rear door out back by the interrogation rooms." The pig man nodded and proceeded to follow orders. The officer walks pass the police as he makes his way back out of the office. The pig man now in riot gear walks out the rear exit and proceed to an alley way where he met the officer.
"Now to begin the next phase of our plan." The officer pulled out his "Devil" mask and covers his face. He begins to change into a young, Caucasian man. His hair is brunette with a blue dye look spiking outwards. His attire is a red hoodie with the face of the mask on it, blue jeans, and is covered with piercing and chains, that stands more for style than function. The only thing that wasn't his was the officer's belt, keys and his cap. He tosses it to the dead officer that he stole his look from. He pulls out a mirror and proceed to look at himself, with his mask on. The pig man pulls out a camera they have hidden nearby. He checks it out making sure it has power and the memory card can record what will come next.
"What form will you take this time?" the pig man asked.
"I'm thinking I go 'all natural' this time." He responded.
"Wait, wouldn't that expose you?!" The pig man said in a surprising tone.
"Perhaps, but as far as I'm concerned. They will believe 'The Devil" words will have an impact now. Begin to film." He walks out the alleyway with the police station in the background. The pig man proceeds to counting him down with his fingers as he begins to record.
"Hello, my friend, It is I, The Devil." He said enthusiastically. "Prepare yourself for a revolution. As I speak now, the building behind me is one of the many police stations that circle this city. Within are the lawmen, who *ahem* enforce the law, but as I stand here, I will begin what will be the first step towards a better world!" He pulls out a trigger from his hoodie, he arms it and holds it proudly in the air as he turns to face the station. "Justice for Villains!" he yells as he pulls the trigger.
At the moment, the police inside hear a small beeping, unsure what it is. Confused, they barely had time to ask a question before a fireball blow out and goes off all over the station. The small building explodes, and screams are heard within. The masked man laughed in victory as the building is now destroyed and burning. Laughing manically, he stops as he turns half toward the camera looking at his partner. "Justice is served." The pig man shuts off the camera and motions a cut. The masked man motions to leave as they walk away before the ambulance and fire department show up.
The next day, the press gather at the main police station, waiting for the chief of the City's police for a statement regarding the bombing. The chief enters and approaches the podium adjusting the microphone.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, sometime in the morning around 10:00am, a bomb was set off at one of our sub stations just 10 miles from the city limit. We believe there are two suspects involved in the bombing. We believe they are subject of an online video campaign to justify the actions of arrested criminals. Identifiable by the obscure devil mask worn by the perpetrator. The second suspect is un-identified but is believed to be working with the assailant. The video in question has been removed, but we are monitoring for anymore actions made by the perp at this time. Now I will open for questions." The press immediately raise their hand yelling.
"Does their actions have any connection to the Hosu incident and the League of Villains?"
"No, we believe the action of these individuals are of a solo act, brought on by a person of interest who is simply called, 'The Devil.' There seems to be no connection to the League and Hosu."
"What are the police doing to ensure an incident like this doesn't happen again?"
"We are taking more protective measures and ensuring all members of the force are more equipped to deal with any further terrorist actions from this point on. We are looking to other alternatives to combat any unsuspecting person or persons from entering the premises without clear authorization. We will also be working with pro hero agencies to ensure further security measure."
"Are they specifically targeting the police, or are they interest in other targets such as parks, schools, or offices, and such?"
"As of now, they seem to target those who are either law enforcement or heroes. Nothing has been said otherwise, but we are keeping a better monitor of the situation as they come. We will do all in our power to ensure the safety of everyone in this city."
"How can you say that? All Might is retired, criminals are getting bold, and even UA, the most proficient hero school in all the world is dealing with the fallout of All For One and the league's actions. How can you ensure our safety?"
"In these trying times, it is easy to give into fear." The chief stated. "But we cannot let our fears get the best of us. We look to our heroes, our police, our doctors, our firefighters, and even our politicians to save us. We cannot forget that we are as strong as they are, we dealt with hardships and woes throughout most of our lives. We tend to forget our history, how we manage to move on from this and learn to be happy again. It takes time and some may never get over it, but life moves on, the world keeps turning, and we grow up. What we do will mark our place in the history of our world. So, while we can't guarantee all of your safety, we ask that you hold on to the hope and know that things will get better and that the sacrifices of those brave men and women who wear the badge are not forgotten. Their sacrifice would be in vain if we panic now, so we must be strong if not for ourselves, then to those who look up to us. Those who call us heroes." The room stood quiet as he finished. Then clapping begins soft at first building louder and supporting applause. The chief bows as he leaves the conference room.
Later in the day, the chief enters the briefing room where dozens of Officers and Police are gathered for the briefing of the situation.
"Alright, settle down. Let's begin." The chief walks to the dry erase board and begins to scribble some words on it. He then pulled out some pictures and papers and add them to the board with magnets. "Yesterday, one of our smaller substations was attacked by a masked terrorist. The person responsible has gone by the alias 'The Devil.' Calling themselves that as the mask they wear is of an obscure and cartoonish like devil. As we were investigating this person, we believe they are acting upon the actions of someone who has been posting videos online who also been calling themselves 'The Devil." Of all the videos they posted, the person behind the mask seems to be someone different, from male to female, young to old, fair complexion to dark complexion, and so on. The only constant is the mask they wear. Whether this is a calling card, or a symbol is unsure, but the person in the videos has always spouted the same things. 'Justice for Villains, Police are the enemies, and Heroes are false idols.' So far, they have only spoken in words and never took any action until yesterday. The suspect in question appears to be a young boy and we have no idea whether they are connected to 'the Devil' or if they were acting on their words. Either way, they are a person of interest. Police will be given picture of the suspect to keep their eyes open for them."
"As far as the station is concerned, we couldn't recover much, since it was a smaller station, it lacked much of the features we carry here at the main station. We are currently going through the rubble to try and locate any evidence to the suspects in question. We are trying to see if cameras in the area caught anything but so far nothing has come up. We found pieces of the explosives used as well as the trigger which was tossed in an alleyway where another officer was found dead. The trigger was wiped clean and no fingerprints were found. Evidence did suggest he was killed before the incident. We will tell more as they become available. For now, keep on your guard and watch each other's backs. Let's not let these men sacrifices be in vain."
"Yes Sir!" The police in the briefing room began to leave and began their patrol. The chief looked onto the board at the pictures, staring at the picture of the suspect. He growled and closed his hand in a fist tightly, angry at their actions yesterday.
"Chief!" He was broken from his stare and regained his composure as the officer interrupted him.
*Ahem* "Yes, what is it?" the chief asked.
"Sir, they posted another video." The chief glared at what he heard.
The men gathered around the computer as they watch the video. This time, a curvy, elegant woman is seen wearing the mask as they watch the video of the bombing. The woman then paused the video as the line "justice is served" was spoken.
"My friends!" She began to speak, "This is what I mean to take matters into your own hands. They did not take my words seriously and now look. Defeated, burned, and broken. This is true justice right here. I encourage all of you to do the same. You may not be able to destroy a building like they did but find a way to make waves. Protest, picket, and even write nasty letters to these so-called law-abiding citizens. Show them you have a voice, use it, and remember. JUSTICE FOR VILLAINS!" The words flash on the screen as well before it ended.
"When did they upload it?" asked the chief.
"An hour ago, it seems." One of the officers responded, they scroll down to the comments and observed the text written. "People are riled up now, many of these comments are supporting him, taking back what they said, or just sharing their words."
"It's coming up on social media too." One of the other officers stated. The man pulled out his phone and was showing his feed. "Many people have used the hashtag #justiceforvillains. Clearly they made a big statement here."
The chief groaned in frustration. "This is only inflating their ego. If he can go any further, we won't be able to handle what may come next, we need to trace what we can find and figure out where these people are! I want them arrested and rotting in jail!" The chief began to yell as he stomps around the room in anger.
Elsewhere, the young man re-watched his video and smiles at his accomplishment. The pig man brings over some microwaved ramen and a couple of bottled drinks. "This is it. Look at this, the spark we needed has finally ignited. People are now standing behind our cause!"
"Congratulations on your success." The pig man replied.
"No, to our success!" He and the pig man picked up their bottles and toasted. The young man was the only one who drank however as the other could with their mask on. The young man looked out the window and smiled. "Now it's time to entice a crowd, get people to take action. With this, now we can build an army."
"Can we get one made?"
"Hogwild, you've stuck with me since you found me in this hut many years ago, I saw the truth of the heroes and I saw what their word really meant. Right now, there are numerous people like me who feel the same way and they needed a voice. One that rises above the heroes. We finally achieved this moment and now people are looking for that hope. We are now that hope. It's time, Hogwild, to rise from the shadows and into the spotlight. Tomorrow is a new day!" He said as a wicked grin flashed across his face.
The next day came and the police continued their search. The chief and the police, work with the heroes were searching through all the evidence and pictures when a cry yelled out through the building. They ran to the front where an officer was trying to contain a blue jay looking girl who seemed to be fighting against the police who arrested her. At the time she was screaming, "Let me go you murderers, don't mark me a villain." She kept kicking and wrestling to get them to let go of her.
"What's going on here?" The chief asked.
"Sorry sir, we're detaining this person for assaulting an officer. She was throwing rocks at our police vehicle. Then she punched one of us." The officer said while trying to detain the girl.
"Justice for villains! Justice for Vill…" is all she could say before she was taken away to the cells. The chief looked on worried.
"This is getting bad, if she acted up, whose to stop others from doing the same."
Sure enough, not hours after the arrest, chanting could be heard outside the station. The chief looked outside the window at the crowd gathered in front of the building. Waving signs and chanting. The chief approached the entrance and saw some police holding back the crowd as they were chanting and spouting slurs at the police. Many yelling, "Murderers, Hate Mongers, Justice for Villains!" Many of the signs they carried said much of the same things. While the group protested, other on-lookers either shook their heads in disappointment, ignored it and walked by, or was standing recording the scene. The police were trying their hardest to keep it peaceful, not wanting to relent to the crowd. The chief and other officers and heroes looked on as the crowds were riled up.
Unbeknownst to all of them a figure stood in the back with his hands in his pockets. Dress in a blue hoodie, torn and tattered, and seemed to be stained red. He looks on to the crowd and the police. He smiles as he licks his lips. He took one of his hand out of his pockets and pointed a finger toward an Officer. With a grin, a bladed chain shot out of his finger and stabbed the officer. The figure pulled the chain back, dragging the officer into the crowd. The figure grab one of his arm and bit into it, ripping into his flesh taking a piece of his arm. The officer screamed in pain but was silenced when the crowd suddenly descend on him and began to assault him. Shocked at the action, the chief, police officers, and heroes came out and began to detain the crowd. The chief managed to get through the crowd as he saw the beaten officer on the ground, wailing in pain. He saw the bite taken out of his arm as he bled out. He looked around at the crowd to see if anyone saw what happened or if someone was detained that was responsible. He noticed some girls recording on their phone and approached them.
"Excuse me, did you record the whole thing?" he asked of them.
"Yes sir, here." The girl shared the phone with the Chief and showed them the recording. He watched as the protest suddenly turn to a riot as the officer was dragged within. He noticed that one person had the officer's arm and bit into it, ripping it off. He looked around for the same person but didn't see them. He realized how dangerous the situation was getting.
Hours later, the news broadcast was reporting the incident at the station and was sharing detail of the assault on the officer. The new went to video of the chief showing a picture of the blue hooded figure and declared him a "person of interest." Both the young man and his big friend watched the news with rapt attention.
"Perfect, you can't ask for better messages than this. Truly this person is just the figure we need to start our army."
"You think he will aid us?" asked Hogwild.
"Think? No, he will, even if he doesn't want to." He said as he grinned.
Later into the night, a young woman was walking home when she noticed vagrant on the ground asking for food. He had his hand out wanting something. The woman feeling sorry for him decided to give him some money. Just as she was handing it to him, he snatched her arm and dragged her into the alley. He pushed here against the wall and laugh evilly. "Thank you for feeding me, I really am so hungry." He licked his lips and flashed his sharp metallic teeth. He slowly approached her neck about to bite when he was knock over by a man in a pig mask. The woman fell as a young man in a Devil masked approached her. "We'll take it from here lady, get out of her before I kill you." The man threatened. The woman brushed her long hair to the side and nodded. She picked up herself and walked out of the alley. Meanwhile, Hogwild had restrained the figure in his arms, holding on to him tightly as he struggled. The masked man approached the figure.
"No use resisting, his grip is almost unbreakable." He said to the figure. He moved his hand to the figure so he can see his face better. The figure bit at him, making him flinch a bit before finally grabbing the hood and taking it off. He stared at a young man, late teens, early twenties. Silver blue hair, shining blue eyes and small scratches and scars on his face. The boy still trying to fight in Hogwild's arms. "Relax, we just want to talk."
"I don't talk, you bastards cost me a meal!"
"There's plenty for you to eat later, right now let's chat." The masked man bowed. "Allow me to introduce myself." He takes off his mask to reveal a young face. "My name is Taichi Maneru, but you can call me, 'The Devil's Plaything.' And the man holding you is Hogwild."
"And I should care why?"
"Because we need you."
"What?" the young boy said with a scowl.
"I saw your actions at the police station, you must really believe in the cause."
"What cause? I was hungry and I never tasted an Officer from this city." Taichi stare at the boy a bit surprised.
"Oh really? Then why were you at the rally?"
The boy smiled, "I couldn't resist a buffet."
"I see." Taichi walked in place a bit. "So, you were hungry then? Fascinating." He looked at the young man's eyes. "Was that the only reason, never heard of me?"
"Should I? All you are to me is just a meal."
Taichi chuckled. "And what you are to me is a hero."
"Come again?"
"For a while, I've been trying to bring about a resistance to the fake heroes of this world and you, you are the perfect symbol of my goals. When you assaulted that officer, you let the crowd engage in a frenzy, and that's what we need. A leader, one who does so as he pleases, one who would lead an assault. The general into war. We need you to make my dreams come true my dear, uh…"
"The name's Darwin."
"Darwin, interesting. You will be immortal, remember for years to come. People will praise you, worship you, call you the hero we need. Won't that be something of interest?"
Darwin scoffed. "No."
"What?!"
"I said no, I don't care for your stupid revolution or whatever. It's not my desire."
"But you'll be famous,"
"Buddy, I keep to the shadows for a reason, I don't want to be seen. I don't care for your goddamn ideas, now let me go!"
Taichi sighed. "Alright, I see we need to go the other route." He put on his masked and snapped at Hogwild, "Drag him to base."
"Right!" Hogwild replied still holding Darwin. Darwin struggled in his arms unable to get loose. As the reach the end of the alley, he bit down on Hogwild's arm, finally getting free as he loses his grip. The boy shoots a blade chain up and prepares to leave, but Hogwild grabbed him and slam him to the wall. The boy shot another bladed chain at Hogwild who was grazed on the arm by the chain. The boy escaped as Hogwild fell to his knees. Taichi ran to his ally and looked up just to see Darwin disappear in the distance of the night.
"Dammit he's gone!" He looked to Hogwild, "Are you ok?"
"Minor scratch, I'm good." He began to stand up again. "So much for our symbol." He said staring into the sky.
"No! We need him, we'll track him down and force him to become our symbol. No matter how long it takes." He looked to the wall and saw bit of blood from Darwin when he was slammed against the wall. "Look! Blood! This just made it easy for us! Hogwild, use your quirk to sniff him out." Hogwild nodded and sniffed the blood. His quirk began to show the trail Darwin left.
"Got it!" he exclaimed.
"Good, there's no where he can run now. Hogwild, get the camera! It's time for one last message!" Taichi said as he put his mask back on.
Later at the Police station, the police and the chief were trying to clear things up from the incident early this morning. Suddenly an officer came in yelling for the chief.
"What is it?"
"Sir a woman is here, she said she encountered the blue-hooded figure."
"Really?!"
"Not only that sir, she saw 'The Devil.'"
Shocked at the new, the chief lead the Police and a couple of heroes to meet with the young woman. "Ma'am, are you the one with the information."
"Yes sir. I was walking home when I saw this young boy begging for food, he grabbed me and dragged me into an alley. He was about to bite me when two young men saved me. One of them turned to me and said to leave or I would be killed too."
The chief pulled out a picture of the masked person. "Did the mask look like this?"
"Yes! That's him!"
"Finally, a breakthrough," He said to his men. "Can you tell us what you know?"
"Even better I can let you listen." She pulled out her phone for the chief and officer to hear the recording she had. "You see my quirk allow me to detach my ears and use them as a two-way communication. I stuck one ear in the alleyway where I was attacked and kept the other near my phone, gathering information, listen." The police heard the conversations and the names as they spoke. They wrote down everything they heard from the conversation before it cut out with the struggle at the end.
"This is perfect! Thank you, ma'am, you've been a big help!" The chief turned to an officer, "Put out a bulletin, Looking for suspect name Darwin, Hogwild, and Taichi Maneru, aka 'The Devil.'" The officer nodded as he ran to communicate the information. The chief finally felt like he had a break in the case. Suddenly, another officer came looking for him.
"Chief, 'The Devil' uploaded another video."
The police gathered at the computer as they watched the latest video.
"Hello friends, It's I, The Devil. I'm here sending you this final message from me. I will be going dark for a while and I do not know when I will return. But know this, keep fighting the good fight, know who your true heroes are. When I return, I will bring a champion to rise against the machine that they call the 'Justice System.' Until we meet again, I am humbly yours," The Devil takes of his mask. "The Devil's Plaything." He bows and stares at the camera again. "Justice for Villains." He puts his mask on again before the video ends.
