Sophie felt her eyes get heavy. She closed them for a second, enjoying every little part of it.

"Ms. Foster!"

Sophie groaned, leaning forward. "Perhaps you've decided sleeping is more important than our lesson?"

Sophie rolled her eyes. "Why do you think I skipped six grades? I'm. Smart. You and I both know that everyone here knows what you're teaching. Why don't you just let us have fun while we are not old wrinkly teachers?"

Mr. Sweeny sputtered and stalked away, waving his hands in dismissal. Sophie smirked, and high-fives were passed from hand to hand.

A glitter of teal caught Sophie's attention, and she turned towards it. A boy sat there, with adorable brown hair and teal eyes. Sophie felt her cheeks heat up. She smiled, walking over. "Uh, hi!"

The boy flashed a smile that would put movie-stars to shame. "Hello." His voice had a crisp accent to it.

"D-do you belong in this school?" She pointed to the crest on her T-shirt, showing the logo of the school.

The boy shook his head and laughed. "No." He shuffled, showing Sophie a picture of a newspaper. She cringed. "Child Prodigy Chooses Local College Over Harvard."

"Is that you?"

Sophie nodded timidly. She cleared her throat. "Yeah, uh-"

The boy looked up at her, which made Sophie's heart flutter. "Your eyes."

Sophie blushed. "Are you complimenting me?"

The boy laughed. "No, I'm just...surprised. I thought your eyes would be blue."

"You've been studying me?"

The boy nodded sheepishly. "Yeah, uh, I've been looking for you, Sophie. For a while."

"You know my name?"

"Yeah." The words were barely more than a whisper, but something pricked at Sophie's skin. The cold winds tugged at her. "I can't…" she ran off.

Sophie shoved the doors open, sucking in as much air as she could. She looked around. Not a soul in sight.

She closed her eyes, trying to slow her pulse. She opened her hands, trying to calm herself.

Snow carpeting the ground lifted up towards her, swirling around her hair. She giggled quietly, calling more to swirl around her whole body.

Peace.

That was the language the snow spoke.

Calm. Happy. Safe.

A hand grabbed Sophie. She screamed, forcing the snow to fall onto the ground.

"Wow."

The teal-eyed boy was back.

"I didn't-"

Tears formed in Sophie's eyes. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean-"

The boy grabbed her shoulder. "No! No! Don't be sorry, Sophie. You're special. Please, come with me. I can show you where you belong."

Sophie looked at him. He saw. He saw! I have no choice, he'll show everyone!

Sophie reached for his hand.

And they glittered away in a beam of light.
