An Honest Morgan
Disclaimer: After watching 4x05, I thought to myself 'what if Morgan was actually honest with Alex when she showed up at his and Chuck's apartment while Casey was drugged?' And came up with this.
Morgan knew he was in a tight spot with Alex's presence in front of him while behind her, Colonel Casey's old friend/team mate turned enemy was lurking about. And he could handle this situation in a few ways and some of them not having favorable outcomes. Like Alex never wanting to talk to him again for example and that wasn't something he wanted to have happen as he really liked her. Taking a breath and releasing it, he grabbed his girlfriend's hands. "Can you do me a huge favor? Turn around slightly and take a look at what's behind you. And don't show any reaction if at all possible."
Confused, Alex did as requested and when she caught sight of a huge man with tattoos, her eyes widened and quickly returned her focus to Morgan. "Morgan, what's going on?"
"Uhh… Why don't, why don't you go inside and I'll explain once we're in there, okay? But don't freak out about the man in the mask in there. That's… Actually you're dad." He explained rather badly and confusing Alex even more.
"Ookay… I am really confused right now…"
"Look, please, just trust me, okay?" Morgan asked in a pleading manner as he nervously looked behind her.
Taking a deep breath and letting it out, Alex decided she would and said as much, making him a little relieved. "Okay, let's get you inside."
Hurriedly, she went inside just as T.I. spotted him and decided to have a word or two with him. Of which said words worried Alex a great deal while wondering why on Earth Morgan had put a Storm Trooper helmet on her dad. Along with why he was in his dress uniform for that matter. Deciding to take matters into her own hands as Morgan dealt with the big man outside, Alex quickly went over to her dad and took the helmet off him and nearly jumped at his wide eyed look at her. "Dad? Are you okay?"
To her alarm, he said nothing and thanks to how loud the guy with Morgan was, her alarm rose even further. What the Hell is going on?
Seconds later saw a harried Morgan make his way inside. "Morgan, what the Hell is going on!? Why is my dad unresponsive and who was that guy out there!?"
Morgan gulped at the eyes he was getting from Colonel Casey as he rubbed a hand over his face. "Uhh… That… That guy is an old friend of your dad's. Or was an old friend of your dad's due to a very strong difference of opinion. As for your dad? Well… That's part of a plan that went out the window and now I need to figure out how to get him moving before Sarah and Chuck end up dead." Explained the short man, not really seeing a need to try and hide any of this from Alex.
Even if it was likely pissing her dad off something fierce! Alex just stared at her boyfriend. "You? I think you mean we." She told him and his eyes widened as he came up to her.
"No! Your dad would kill me if anything happened to you!" Argued back Morgan.
She raised her eyebrows and crossed her arms as a thought came to her about why they didn't get the Police involved. But then remembered what exactly it is her father's involved in with the Government and pushed that particular thought away. "I'll protect you, I promise." She said in the end.
Morgan chuckled nervously as he looked over at the Colonel and then had an idea come to mind. "Let me call someone. He might be able to help me, us, with this."
"By all means and thank you for trusting me instead of doing something stupid."
He winced at that and was glad for it as well and then made a call to Captain Awesome. Alex couldn't help but be somewhat amused over the one sided conversation she heard moments later while sitting with her dad and couldn't help but wonder just how much truth there was to that weird Jeff guy from the Buy More. Once her boyfriend hung up his phone, Alex watched as he came around the front of the couch and got in front of her dad and blew out a breath. "I'm sorry for this sir, but its for your own good." He declared and slapped her dad.
"MORGAN!"
"Ow! That's like slappin' a car!" Muttered Morgan as he shook and held his hand.
"How is that supposed to get him up!?"
"Well… Awesome said that either scaring or angering him would possibly help!"
"And you think slapping him is going to do either of those things?" Asked Alex doubtfully.
"Well… I did! But now I see its not goin' too!" He replied a bit defensively.
Alex couldn't help but roll her eyes at him as an idea came to him. "Okay, I think I have something."
"Oh? Do tell, Morgan. I can't wait to hear this one." Replied the young lady a little dryly.
Steeling himself, Morgan turned his attention to the good Colonel as Alex watched on. "Okay, Casey, I know you can hear me and I have something very important to tell you." Began the man as Alex cottoned on to what he was about to do.
"This is how you're going to tell him!?"
"Better than at his fake funeral! Which, I'll explain later, I promise."
Ohh how she couldn't wait to hear that story! "I'm gonna hold you to that. But first, let me break the news, okay?"
"Uhh… Okay…"
Smiling at her boyfriend, Alex turned her attention to her father. "Dad… What Morgan means to say is that WE something important to tell you. Namely, that we're dating."
Alex couldn't help but jump back a little when her father's eyes looked straight at Morgan and she was certain she could feel anger beginning to come from him. "Yeah, its true, Sir. Its gettin' pretty serious, you know? Holding hands and uhh, the kissing. Its out of control. But! I've been a perfect gentlemen!" Morgan added hurriedly.
Alex smiled at that and added her own two cents. "He's definitely been a perfect gentlemen, dad."
Briefly, her Buy More man looked at her with a smile on his face before focusing his attention back on her dad. "Although… I'm kinda gettin' the feelin' she'll be spendin' the night soon." He said with an audible gulp as growls came from Casey.
And that was when he suddenly grabbed Morgan by the throat, causing Alex to jump back in shock as he got off the couch and held her boyfriend in the air by his throat. "Dad! Let him go!"
"I will kill you." Growled the big man.
"You will not!"
Casey dropped Morgan and glared at him as Alex came to his side and helped him up. To Alex's further unhappiness, her dad punched him in the gut. "Dad! That is enough!"
"You are NOT dating him!" Growled out the man.
Alex glared at him as she crossed her arms. "You may be my father but you do not have a say in who I date. Not after you chose to abandon me and my mother so you could do whatever for America!" She retorted angrily and he stumbled back from the fierceness of her words.
Completely not having expected that whatsoever but feeling like perhaps he should have given the circumstances… "Alex…"
"No. Now, we need to focus on getting Chuck and Sarah back home." Alex told him firmly.
Telling him that she wasn't going to argue further about her relationship with Morgan. "You are not coming with me to Iran."
"You're going to need help and we're the best you have despite our lack of training." Morgan cut in and flinched at the glare he got from the bigger man.
Casey growled as he realized they right as there just wasn't time enough to get a team ready. "Fine, but you both do EXACTLY as I say. And you'd better keep her protected, Grimes."
"I wouldn't do anything less, Sir."
"I think you forget I can clearly handle myself in a fight since I almost handed you your ass that night."
"Alex, were you anyone else, I would have put you on the ground that night." Casey told her dead seriously.
Alex swallowed nervously as she could tell her dad was dead serious. "And on that note, we've got a rescue mission to get too." Morgan said.
Casey grunted and the trio made their leave.
Sometime Later
"You really care about Grimes, don't you?" Casey asked in a soft manner on the plane back to America once all was said and done.
Alex nodded as she ran a hand through her sleeping boyfriend's hair as his mind and body had definitely needed some rest after surviving a round of electrocution. An event that had scared the Hell out of the young woman for that matter. Sarah and Chuck were off in their own little world on the plane, allowing them some privacy. "I do. And I know he cares about me."
Letting out a sigh, Casey found himself once again regretting certain decisions he'd made long ago. Something he'd only been doing in recent months after discovering he had a daughter and had begun to tentatively connect with her. "I know I have no place to be an over protective father with you, Alex. Its… Its just you and any boy isn't something I like even though I don't have that right because of decisions I made long ago. Had I known Kathleen was pregnant with you, I don't think I would've gone through with ending the life I had as Alex McHugh." And try as he might to not do it, Casey found himself lately on occasion thinking what ifs and the like.
Part of him even hating it too for that matter. Alex looked over at her father and gave him a small smile. "The important thing is, you're in my life now, dad. Its just going to take some time for both of us to adjust."
"And I guess part of that adjustment is you and Grimes being together, huh?"
"Yep! That is non-negotiable."
"I guess if I can live in walls for weeks at a time, I can live with this too." Grumbled the man in a slightly sour tone.
"Oh come on, you know you like Morgan, dad."
The appalled look on his face made Alex giggle. "I do not!"
"If you say so, dad."
"I do! And uhh… We okay?" He asked hesitantly.
"We are. But please, let him know you're okay with him dating me, okay? I don't want him living in fear of you because of that." She requested.
"Not even a little fear?" Casey asked with a little hope in his voice and Alex couldn't help but roll her eyes in amusement at him.
"No, not even a little fear, dad."
"Damn it."
Alex just smiled in amusement at him and felt incredibly grateful once again for how things had turned out in the end.
Author's Notes: Yeah, I know this is all probably unrealistic but we can just blame my not having gotten any sleep since yesterday on it all.
