The date was November 25, 2019. King Mob, AKA Gideon, and Ragged Robin, AKA Robin, were alone together in an Invisibles' safe house.
"I know you can read my mind Robin," said Gideon.
"What?" said Robin.
"You're a telepath. All the women of the Outer Church have telepathic abilities given to them by a machine created by the King-of-All-Tears. I know that you have been secretly working for the Outer Church as a spy. I know that you have been having doubts about what side you really belong on. You belong with us, Robin. More specifically, you belong with me Robin. I love you. I always have and I always will," said Gideon.
Robin read his mind and saw that he was telling the truth. He really did love her. She looked further into his mind and saw that the rest of their Invisibles cell had located the telepathy machine and were about to blow it up. They were just waiting for a cell phone call from Robin saying that it was OK to destroy the machine and rob all Outer Church women of their ability to read minds.
"What should I do?" thought Robin. "I love the feeling of power I get from violating someone's mind. But on the other hand, Gideon does love me and destroying the telepathy machine would be a major victory for the Invisibles. What do I choose? Power or love?"
Robin took out her cell phone and dialed Boy's number.
"Boy, this is Ragged Robin. Blow up the machine. Now," said Robin.
Robin hung up her cell phone. A moment later she had a slight headache, which passed quickly. She tried to read Gideon's mind but was unable to do so. Her telepathic powers and the telepathic powers of all the women of the Outer Church were gone forever. For you see, a week earlier Jack Frost had killed the King-of-All-Tears and the King was the only one who knew how to build a telepathy machine. The King-of-All-Tears took the secret of telepathy with him to his grave.
"I love you too, Gideon," said Robin.
The two embraced and lived happily ever after.
