TALE AS OLD AS TIME
The Paulsen-Specter residency seems to be calm that evening. Harvey is starting to prepare their favorite meal while Donna tries to get their daughter to sleep ā she's been on it for a couple of hours now. Sophie is a very easy-going baby, and many people say she's a "mini Donna"... Except when it comes to her bedtime.
Donna's lost track of the baby songs she's sung before Sophie falls asleep. Harvey even says she's the baby whisperer now, but tonight all the usual songs aren't working, so Donna decides to choose one from her own childhood.
Tale as old as time, true as it can be. Barely even friends, then somebody bends unexpectedly
Sophie stops paying attention to everything around her, focusing instead on Donna's angelic voice.
Just a little change, small to say the least. Both a little scared, Neither one prepared. Beauty and the Beast
Donna doesn't have to sing it twice for the baby in her arms to sleep. She closes the bedroom door after putting her into the crib, then goes to the kitchen where her husband is probably finishing up their dinner.
"What was today's song?" Harvey asks, putting the hamburgers and cheese on the plates.
"Believe it or not," Donna says, picking the burger buns before sitting on the chair next to the kitchen island, "Soph fell asleep to me singing Beauty and the Beast."
"No way!" Harvey jokes, sitting next to Donna. "I haven't seen that movie in years!"
"You're an idiot." Donna laughs. The couple had watched all the movies about a thousand times through Donna's pregnancy because, according to herself, the baby would get calmer when Beauty and the Beast ā whether it was the animation or the live-action ā was on. Of course Harvey knows the movie means something to Donna, so he didn't mind watching it with her.
"C'mon, we've watched the live-action so many times." Harvey's preparing the hamburgers now. "I won't even bring the original into this discussion."
"Both are amazing!" Donna argues, stealing one of her husband's fries from his plate. "Emma Watson is THE perfect Belle, it did justice to the classic. I was speechless after leaving the movie theater."
"Hey!" he protests, trying to look mad at his wife for stealing one of his precious fries even though he always let her do it. Truth be told, he could never be 100% mad at her. "You can say whatever you want and, to me, she will always be Hermione Granger."
"Here we go again." Donna rolls her eyes, walking towards the fridge to get some Coke. "Do you want some?"
"I'll never say no to Coke when having my favorite food with my wife," Harvey replies and takes a bite of his hamburger. That makes Donna smile. Years may pass, but her heart will never fail to skip a beat when hearing the word wife in reference to her coming out of his mouth.
"She's a very talented actress, and I think she's great, but I just can't let Hermione go, you know?" he continues, following Donna with his eyes as she returns with his drink.
"Okay, easy fanboy," Donna snickers. "I get that you'll never get over the fact there won't be new Harry Potter books or movies anymore. Although..."
"We don't talk about the Cursed Child in this house, remember?"
"Yeah, but don't you think I don't know where you hide your copy," she says innocently and drinks her coke.
"How do you know that?" Harvey asks, surprised.
"I'm Donna..." his wife starts.
"And I know everything." Both finish the sentence together, Harvey mimicking her voice and Donna in her usual Donna tone.
"I don't even know why I still get surprised." Harvey laughs.
"Neither do I," Donna replies with a smirk.
"Speaking of movies and such things," Harvey gets closer to her, "what do you say we go back to our one date night a week now that our daughter is a little bit older?"
"Oh, I would love that!" Donna holds Harvey's hand. The couple kept going on their weekly date dinners until Soph was born, so it's been over a year since they had an entire night only for themselves. "But are you sure? I hate the thought of not being with her at the end of the day."
"Donna, it would be only for one night," Harvey reassures her and squeezes her hand, trying to convince his wife. His baby girl means the world to him, and as much as he loves her, he's missed spending time with his wife.
"Harvey, Iā"
"Donna Roberta Paulsen Specter, will you go out with me for one night?" Harvey flashes her his cheshire cat smile. "Please?"
"Okay, Mr. Best Closer in Town, you win." Donna laughs shyly.
"It's always a pleasure closing you, Mrs. Specter," Harvey smiles, feeling proud of himself.
"HARVEY!" Donna playfully slaps her husband's arm. "Let me remind you it's Mrs. Paulsen-Specter."
"Okay, Mrs. Paulsen-Specter. Do you think we can ask Mike and Rachel to take Sophie for a sleepover on Saturday?" Harvey suggests, not hiding his excitement.
"I'm sure they can take care of their goddaughter, especially now that they are expecting a mini-Rachel or a mini-Mike." Donna gives her burger another bite, but a wave of sadness suddenly hits her. She misses Lucy.
"They will be amazing parents." Harvey nods, noticing the change in Donna's body language. "And hey, I miss Lucy too."
"Oh my." Donna lets out a laugh. "Sometimes I forget you can read me as well as I can read you."
"No, you don't." Harvey mirrors her laugh and looks at her lovingly.
"No, I don't" she takes his hand back. "Just the way I know you're not surprised that I know where you've been keeping your secret book."
"Yeah, something like that." Harvey snickers and takes another sip of his coke.
The couple continue talking about their life, Sophie, Mike and Rachel and how Louis is handling the firm without them.

It's a little past 2 AM when Harvey hears Sophie cry. He looks down at Donna sleeping so peacefully in his arms and he doesn't want to wake her up.
So he goes to his daughter's bedroom and picks her up from the crib to change her diaper but she doesn't calm down. Harvey heads to the kitchen and places Sophie on the island with her Teddy bear, keeping an eye on her while he prepares her bottle. But she's not hungry, so she doesn't drink even half of it.
Harvey walks around the house, rocking her in his arms and singing in a low voice, trying not to wake Donna up, but his baby girl is still restless. Then something clicks and he finally remembers what made the little redhead sleep before. Though he doesn't know the entire lyrics by heart, Harvey tries to sing Beauty and the Beast. However, it doesn't have the same effect.
"Look, kiddo," Harvey sighs. "I'm running out of options."
Harvey sits down on the couch and places his daughter by his side. When looking down at her, he has another idea.
"If this doesn't make you sleep, I don't know what else will." Harvey reaches the Blue-Ray shelf and picks Donna's favorite Disney movie. "I hope Mommy won't be too mad at Daddy if she ever finds out that I've introduced Beauty and the Beast to you before she could."
Harvey goes back to his daughter's side and puts an arm around her after turning the TV on. Sophie's eyes are glued on the TV and she pays attention to everything until the ball scene starts. Before Belle and her prince could finish their dance, he notices his "mini Donna" asleep on his lap. Little did she know her dad would fall asleep right after.
Donna misses Harvey's chest when she wakes up in the morning since she had been using it as her pillow.
"Harvey?" Donna calls for him, getting out the bed. He's probably sleeping in Sophie's room, she thinks when she doesn't get an answer.
Before the redhead can arrive in her daughter's room, she hears a song that she'd recognize anywhere coming from the living room, so Donna walks there and is faced with one of the most precious views she's ever seen in her life: Harvey and Sophie were both asleep on the couch while the Beauty and the Beast's credits were going up on the TV.
Of course, Donna plans to give her husband a lecture of how she should've been the one to show their daughter the best animation movie Disney has ever made later. But, right now, she can only think about heading back to her room to pick her cellphone and register that beautiful moment in a picture she'll cherish forever.
