Hello, and thank you for checking out this little story of mine! So, I am a new fan to the Precure community, having not even finished a single season as of yet, though I plan to naturally, and having watched a bunch of movies and early episodes. Yet I couldn't resist writing something like this for fun, to showcase what I picture could be an interesting relationship between who have quickly become two of my favorite Cures: Nono Hana and Hanadera Nodoka! One thing to bear in mind while reading is that this obviously takes place in a separate canon from that of Miracle Leap, the upcoming movie that will bring together the Hugtto Precure and Healin Good Precure, with the addition of the Star Twinkle Precure. This takes place in its own separate canon that follows the flow of the All-Stars canon where all Precure teams coexist in spite of any continuity errors. That being said, I hope you enjoy!
Was it possible for the world to look both beautiful and desolate at the same time? To feel simultaneously cold and warm? To be both foreboding and welcoming? Could such an oxymoron actually happen outside of fantasies?
That is what Nono Hana, known as the Precure called Cure Yell, was feeling at this moment in time as her eyes surveyed the sky that had once been totally blacked out by clouds of smoke darker and more suffocating than any storm cloud ever seen, and the landscape that had been ravaged in the hours that had passed by. Suffice is to say, the fight that had transpired, which felt like it had lasted for hours upon hours, left the leader of the Hugtto Precure feeling exhaustion unlike anything she had ever felt before, with her body bruised and the smallest trickles of blood coming down her nose and a few cuts positioned here there and everywhere on her arms, legs, or body.
Every Precure team that Cure Yell had ever met before or heard of had been pulled in for a fight against the return of Black Hole, and dozens of fellow Cure had been left broken and beaten for what felt like miles around. But now the fight was done. The sun was allowed to shine down once again, piercing through the clouds above, like some kind of a spiritual representation that the dark hours were over. Peace was allowed to come about once again. Now teammates were reuniting and everyone was looking to make sure that all of their fellow Cure were okay.
It was a miracle that the entire city had not been blown down and the destruction was kept to a relatively contained area. All the same, that didn't make the bulldozed land left in its wake seem any less devastating in its totality. A few neighboring buildings on the coastline where the fight was regulated to had crumbled to dust, and the entire ground had been upturned with rubble positively everywhere, scorch marks streaked across everywhere still hot with cinders floating about in the air.
At the moment, Cure Yell was working her way around the wasteland, overturning rubble and searching for signs of other Cures. She had met up with her teammates already, Macherie and Ange naturally panicking and desperately trying to ensure that she was okay, and it took a great amount of effort for Hana to get away so she could help look for others. After all, they were all Precure, and they had to cooperate and look out for one another, no matter what team they were on.
"Mechokku," Yell said, as she stumbled her way through the rubble with a leg that was turning a very unhealthy shade of purple. "I didn't know it was possible for a single space to get so wrecked."
As she continued to look, she had to narrowly step around a bunch of rocks, doing everything in her power to not trip or knock over any haphazardly stacked piles. As she went, she stumbled on her feet as she was forced to step over a particularly large pile, nearly falling and smashing her face right on the pavement! She turned around, her eyes widening when she saw a Cure laying in the middle of the rubble! Cure Yell knelt down and pushed the stones aside in order to pull the injured Cure out from underneath!
She turned the fellow pink Cure over, seeing more of her overall appearance. Her hair was voluminous and curly, more of a hot pink than Yell's lighter, almost bubblegum pink color, with the overall shape and volume giving Hana vibes of Ange. She also had speckles of green flowers and a pearl tiara decorated in her hair, along with a white blouse style vest and matching gloves, accompanied by a bright pink skirt.
Yell had not met this Cure in person before, but heard she was from a relatively new team. She appeared utterly exhausted, with her body covered in dust and soot. It appeared she wasn't actually injured, yet she was struggling for breath, panting like an injured animal. Yell gained a determined look as she picked the girl up in her arms, bridal style, and began to carry her out of the wreckage. "Don't you worry," she said the unconscious girl. "I will get you out of here and get you help!"
The girl didn't respond, but Yell was determined to give her emotional support. "Hooray, hooray, Pretty Cure," she cheered soothingly, in the event she could hear her. "Hooray, hooray, Pretty Cure."
By the time Nodoka Hanadera woke up, she found herself laying in a hospital bed, a mask over her face to help calm her breathing. It was your typical, sterile hospital room, with cool cream colored walls and a plain white tiled floor with a matching ceiling, so reflective in their cleanliness and sanitation that they were reflective to the point that the fluorescent lights overhead were shining and reflecting off of them to the point of being downright blinding. The bed Nodoka was laying in was an equally dramatic tint of white, with a few droning machines beside her to monitor her breathing. A door sat directly in front of her, a basic, brown wooden door, with a few carved nightstands sitting beside her, giving her somewhat a sense of privacy, though not the least bit any sense of relaxation.
This place did not bring back good memories for the leader of the Healin Good Precure, but moreso left her very confused as to what had happened to her. The last thing she remembered was being in the heat of battle, her heart beating so hard that it left her with a sour taste in her mouth and the feeling of a fist closing itself around her lungs.
Did she somehow black out? Was the rest of her team okay? Did the Precure win?
Her thoughts were interrupted when a fellow pinkette suddenly burst through the door with an enthusiastic, "Ohayo!" The girl bounced her way into Nodoka's hospital room and pulled up a seat next to the bed. She had a bright smile on her face, as she met Nodoka's eyes with sympathy and kindness.
"My name is Nono Hana," the girl greeted. "Tell me, how are you feeling?"
Nodoka was baffled to say the least. She had no idea who this girl was or what she was doing here, with her peppy energy throwing Nodoka off something fierce. Still, her exuberant energy was somewhat welcoming and Nodoka couldn't help but reply honestly.
"Uh… I'm fine," Nodoka replied. "Just very tired, mostly. And… it kinda hurts to breathe."
"I can understand that," Hana said. "You were pretty out of it and could hardly catch your breath."
Nodoka was now even more confused by this situation. How did this girl know about her? She could hardly even recall what had happened back during the fight that lead to her being here in the first place. "What… what happened to me?" she finally asked.
"Well," Hana replied, "I found you in the middle of the battlefield and took you here for help! You were buried under some rubble, but didn't look that hurt aside from your breathing."
Hana jumped animatedly in her seat, realizing what she had just said, before taking a few cautionary looks around to ensure that nobody was listening in on them. It took Nodoka a minute to understand what this meant herself. Hana found Nodoka buried under rubble and brought her here, meaning she must have known she was Cure Grace, or at least had an idea that she was a Precure if she was knocked out of her transformation. If Nodoka wasn't so tired she might have been more on edge about her secret identity being jeopardized.
Hana leaned forward in her seat, holding a hand over her mouth to whisper. "I know what you're thinking," she said. "But you don't have to worry, cause' I'm a Precure too!"
Nodoka looked over at Hana, meeting her gaze again. Hana smiled as she held her right leg up, which was covered in bandages. "Most of the other Precure needed help," she said. "And I'm no exception. I'm Cure Yell of the Hugtto Precure. Lovely to meet you!"
Now Nodoka gained a surprised expression. She had heard about other Precure, and crossed paths with them during the battle, but had never spent a prolonged time with them. Still, the idea of meeting another Precure allowed for Nodoka to gain a gentle smile out of comfort from being with somebody else like her in this situation.
"Nodoka Hanadera of the Healin Good Precure," she introduced herself. "It's a pleasure to meet you too. Uh, if you don't mind me asking, have the doctors told you about my condition?"
"Yeah," Hana said. "They said that your injuries are fairly minor, but you're very exhausted and will need to stay in bed until you can physically move again. I hear it's because you've had medical trouble in the past with stuff like this?"
Nodoka turned away, unable to meet Hana's eyes. The last thing she wanted was for anybody to know about her past medical troubles, especially her fellow Precure. She wanted to move past her problems and be able to live life to the fullest now that she could at least manage to do anything on her own without any help, even at the cost of her not having the greatest of stamina.
She did not want to be looked down upon because of it. She had already almost lost her chance of being a Precure when Rabirin found out and didn't want to put her life at risk. Nodoka didn't want something like that to happen again, and didn't want any of her Precure to misjudge her as being weak and incapable of being the hero she was trusted to be.
Seeing that Nodoka had become somewhat uncomfortable, Hana gave her that encouraging smile once again as she pumped her fists. "It's okay!" she said. "I'm here to help you get back on your feet and get you out there again! After all, you can't very well be Cure Grace being stuck in bed, right?"
Nodoka looked at Hana, seeing that big smile on her face. "Hooray! Hooray! Nodoka-chan!" Hana cheered. "Hooray! Hooray! Nodoka-chan!"
Nodoka was astonished by Hana's encouraging attitude once again. She had never met this girl before, nor had she ever heard much about her, yet Hana was determined to help be an emotional crutch of sorts for her despite these facts. It was so much that Nodoka couldn't help but actually ask her about it.
"Why… why do you want to help me out so much?" she asked.
"Why not?" Hana asked. "We Precure have to stick together, right?"
Nodoka was honestly very touched. Being a relatively new team, she hadn't cooperated as much with the other Precure teams as others had. It honestly had her wonder how she appeared in the eyes of her fellow Precure.
Did they respect her and her teammates, or were they underestimated because of their inexperience? But sure enough, Hana was treating her like an equal without a second thought. And promised to be there by her side to help her in her recovery on top of that.
"The rest of your team is waiting for you," Hana said, getting up from her seat, "so I won't keep them waiting. I just wanted to introduce myself, and let you know that I'll be around, and that I think you'll do great! Hooray, hooray, Nodoka-chan!"
With that final cheer, Hana turned and skipped out the door! Nodoka was quite astonished, yet very touched by Hana's honest kindness. Despite the fact that the two had never even met before, Hana was treating her like an equal as a Precure without any kind of reservation, and promised she would be there for her in the future.
Later that day, Nodoka was still laying in bed, reading peacefully with the intent on going to bed at some point. She had already seen the rest of her teammates and her parents earlier, not long after she was initially brought to the hospital by Hana. Because this fight had been a massive incident, there wasn't any risk of Nodoka's secret identity being jeopardized thanks to the fact that there were several people who were hurt, and her parents were just worried about Nodoka's recovery.
Thankfully, she wasn't severely injured by any means, it was just a severe amount of exhaustion flowing through her system that she needed to get over, but would be difficult because of her history of respiratory problems. The main thing she needed was rest to get her strength back. Rabirin naturally chose to stay by her side, Nodoka's fairy companion wanting to keep close watch over her partner, and kept out of sight whenever any nurse came over to check on Nodoka. She didn't say much, just staying close by for emotional support in the event Nodoka needed her.
As silence had been the only sound in the hospital for a few hours, it was quite a shock when it was broken out of the blue by Hana bursting through the door once again, only this time around she had a baby carrier tied around her shoulders, with a little blonde haired baby inside! "Hey again, Nodoka-chan!" Hana cheered.
Nodoka jumped what must have been a foot in the air at Hana's spontaneous arrival, having to work to catch her breath from the shock! Hana, naturally seeing that she was an inch away from giving Nodoka a heart attack, felt immediately guilty and rushed to her side! "O-ohmigosh! I-I am so, so sorry Nodoka!" she said. "D-do you need anything! Anything I can get you? Water? CPR?"
"N-no, N-Nono-san," Nodoka replied. "I... I was just startled."
"What in the world was that~rabi!?" Rabirin asked in a huff, walking across the bed to reprimand Hana. "You almost put poor Nodoka into shock~rabi!"
"I-I'm sorry!" Hana replied. "I-I was just... hehe... you must be her fairy companion. Hello there."
Rabirin looked not the least bit entertained at Hana's attempts to change the subject. Nodoka pat her on the head, doing her part to help the rabbit like fairy relax a tad. "It's okay Rabirin," she said. "She's a friend. She's a Precure."
"Yes, I know~rabi," Rabirin replied. "But she should have been a little more calm in her entrance, for your sake~rabi."
Nodoka continued to pet Rabirin's head. "I am wondering though, Nono-san," Nodoka said, "what're you doing back?"
"Well what else?" Hana asked, jumping back to her feet with her exuberance restored. "I promised I'd come back and help you get back on your feet, so I'm back!"
"Oh…" Nodoka said, still somewhat confused.
Hana noticed this, and naturally felt again that she might be overstepping a tad. After all, Nodoka had been through a lot and was most likely still feeling quite overwhelmed by her situation. Especially the sense of being restrained in a hospital.
"That... that is okay, right?" Hana asked.
"Oh, of course!" Nodoka replied. "I just didn't know you meant today."
"Well, why not?" Hana asked, pulling up her seat next to Nodoka again. She pulled the small baby out of the carrier, holding her in her lap. "Hugtan, say hello to Nodoka-chan!" Hana said to the baby. "Nodoka-chan, meet Hugtan, my little friend!"
"Hug-yu!" Hugtan said, waving her hand at Nodoka. The pink Cure herself couldn't help but laugh as she looked at Hugtan. "Nice to meet you," Nodoka said, shaking the small child's hand.
"So!" Hana said, leaning closer to Nodoka. "What should I do? You need to get outside, right? How about we do that? I can wheel you out if you need! I saw the hospital had some wheelchairs on standby."
"Sorry Nono-san," Nodoka replied, "but I can't really be relocated right now. I still need this breather for my lungs at the moment."
"Oh," Hana said, looking somewhat down. "Okay… uh, how about I- wait, no you can't do that…"
"Sorry to say, Cure Yell," Rabirin said, "but Nodoka can't really do a whole lot more than just rest~rabi. But we do appreciate your willingness to help~rabi. Even if your energy is a bit endangering~rabi."
"Rabirin," Nodoka said again, patting the rabbit once more.
"Still," Hana said, "I want to do more! I want to find ways to get you going!"
"Well," Nodoka said, "all that can be done is just let me recover. But I really do appreciate your help, Nono-san."
Hana gave a nod. "Okay!" she said. "If that's the case, then I'll just have to encourage you from here!"
Nodoka smiled as she continued to take in Hana's encouraging spirit. Hana continued to smile at Nodoka in turn, before she pumped her fists again. "Hooray! Hooray! Nodoka-Chan!" she cheered, Hugtan laughing on her lap.
Hana nudged her chair over and sat side-by-side with Nodoka on her chair. "So!" she said. "What're you reading? Can I read with you?"
"Sorry," Rabirin said, "but to rest, Nodoka needs to relax~rabi. I don't-"
"It's okay," Nodoka said, adjusting the book so Hana could read with her. "I don't mind."
Hugtan was positioned between the two, directly in front of the book, so she could see it clearly herself.
"Do you read to her?" Nodoka asked.
"I try," Hana replied, looking a little awkward. "Although, I can't lie and say my friend Saaya isn't a bit more educated about the ways to handle a baby than I am. But I'm getting there!"
For several minutes, Hana was merely sitting with Nodoka, speaking rather animatedly and overall acting like a very positive ball of energy, even more than the literal baby that she brought with her. Nodoka had to admit, it was somewhat refreshing, as the closest she had to that was Hinata, who wasn't so much positive in her energy bursts as she was just incapable of holding still and had to be doing something all the time. Hana on the other hand was so very encouraging and positive, it seemed she couldn't stand the idea of anybody being remotely upset.
But what touched Nodoka the most about her, was the fact that she didn't pry about the fact that Nodoka had once been hospitalized. She wasn't appearing to be brimming with questions and wanting to learn more about what had happened to Nodoka in the past, but respected her right to privacy and just did her part to help her out in this current situation. Which in its own right, did have Nodoka herself feeling the slightest bit guilty about having her own questions about her.
A nurse came in that moment, saying that Nodoka should get some sleep, subtly nudging Hana to let her rest. Hana said that she would, but Nodoka held her back.
"Nono-san," Nodoka said, handing Hana the book to put on the bedside table, as she got ready to sleep. "I still want to know. Is there a reason you want to help me so much?"
Hana blinked a few times, before she gained a gentle smile. "Well," she replied, "I just don't like the idea of you being without a support at any point. I know you have your friends and your family, yeah, but... I just want to encourage you on whenever they can't!"
Nodoka didn't know if that was it. It couldn't just be done on a whim. Still, it wasn't like she had the right to pry, especially when Hana herself was not prying over her. "Well," Nodoka said, "I do appreciate it. Honestly, I do."
Hana smiled brighter, as Hugtan giggled in turn. "Okay," Hana said, plopping Hugtan back in the carrier. "We'll let you rest! But I'll be back later, I promise! Hooray, hooray, Nodoka-chan!" she cheered as she took her leave.
Nodoka continued to smile as she slowly closed her eyes.
"What an odd girl~rabi," Rabirin said.
"Yeah," Nodoka said quietly. "But... a nice one."
Meanwhile, Hana was taking her leave with her mind settled back on what Nodoka had asked her. About there being a particular reason for why she decided to be there for her in support. It went back to hearing about Nodoka being stuck in the hospital due to her failing health.
Images flashed in her brain as Hana took that in. Images of a sick and scared Nodoka. Stuck in a perpetual web of negativity day in and day out. No strength to get on her feet and break out.
It brought some bad thoughts back to Hana of being caught in a similar yet different set of circumstances. Being stuck in a space of negativity unable to get out, without any strength to help yourself. Hana wanted to help Nodoka, because she didn't want her to be alone with only her thoughts of the past.
"Are you sure you got it?" Ichika asked, as Hana desperately tried to carry a tray of sweets out of KiraPati. The tray was rather long, holding a dozen cupcakes, with Hana only just managing to hold it in her arms from the sides. It was the day after Nodoka got dropped off at the hospital, and with the knowledge that she could presumably be discharged that day after a full day of recovering, Hana wanted to cheer her up and celebrate by offering her something delicious. And what better place to get something sweet than the Kirakira Patiserrie?
"I-I got it! Don't you worry!" Hana said.
"Okay, if you say so," Ichika said. "Well, have a good day! And let me know what Nodoka-chan thought of the cupcakes! We'll be happy to make more!"
"I will!" Hana promised.
"You sure you don't want me to handle that?" Harry asked, in his human form so he could handle Hugtan whilst Hana took care of the sweets.
"Nope!" Hana said. "I got this one! Cheering up Nodoka-chan is my responsibility so I'm gonna handle it!"
"Well you don't-" Harry began, but Hana cut him off!
"Don't worry about it!" Hana said, as the duo crossed over the crest of a hill with the hospital dead ahead. "You're too much of a busybody! After all, I've handled worse!"
She increased her speed so as to get down the hill faster. The problem is that this plan backfired astronomically, as a piece of metal that had fallen out of a trashcan tripped her up! Her foot kicked out from under her, causing her to scramble to catch herself! She managed to get on her two feet again, but the tray she was carrying fell out of her hands!
Hana gasped in shock as she saw her gift to Nodoka fall out of her hands and risk crashing to the ground! Hana jumped forward, leaning far so she could grab the tray! She succeeded in her task, but the problem now was in her position leaning forward, and the added weight of the tray, caused Hana to continue to lean forward more, forcing her to continue running further and further down the hill!
"I can't stop!" Hana yelled, as she continued to run down the hill against her will!
"Huh. Deja vu," Harry observed, Hugtan giggling in his arms as he ran after her!
At the bottom of the hill, Nodoka's friends and teammates Chiyu and Hinata, with their own fairy partners Pegitan and Nyatoran respectively, and their magical dog Latte, approached the hospital with the intent on visiting Nodoka. They too knew that Nodoka could presumably be discharged that day, and were determined to be their for their partner and leader. The problem was they would have been there sooner, if not for a particular blonde ditz.
"Honestly Hinata," Chiyu said, rubbing her brow. "How did you manage to destroy all that equipment just by sneezing?"
"Not my fault!" Hinata replied. "It's allergy season!"
"If you hadn't bothered that girl," Chiyu said, "by looking at her things, thus spreading dust into your nose and breaking all of it, forcing us to pay for a new set, we would have gotten here an hour earlier."
"You saw all that stuff!" Hinata said. "How could I have not been curious! Also, did you notice that girl had antennae? What do you-"
"It's probably just her outfit," Chiyu said. "You have to restrain yourself."
Hinata pouted dramatically, as Chiyu turned and marched back towards the hospital entrance, with Latte following at her feet. Hinata was about to follow, before her keen ears picked up on something. "Hey Chiyu, did you hear something?" Hinata asked.
"What now?" Chiyu asked.
"Seriously, listen!" Hinata said, gesturing in the direction of the hill!
"Honestly I-ahh!" Chiyu said in surprise, spotting Hana charging down the hill right towards them!
"Outta the way!" Hana yelled.
Chiyu and Hinata both gasped in surprise as Latte began to bark fretfully!
"We gotta stop that girl-nya!" Nyatoran said.
"She's gonna hurt herself-pegi!" Pegitan agreed.
Both Hinata and Chiyu rushed towards her, determined to bring her to a safe stop!
"You take her left! I got her right!" Hinata said.
"We need to keep pace with her!" Chiyu said. "Bring her to a slow halt!"
They stopped at the edge of the hill, before running back, just as Hana came right towards them! They both grabbed her arms, and gradually slowed down, pulling Hana with them! Finally, they came to a stop, Hana's legs now feeling like jelly, causing her to crumble to her knees!
"Are you okay!?" Hinata asked. "You're not hurt, are you?"
"I'm fine," Hana said, short of breath. "Thank you... for saving me..."
"Why in the world," Chiyu asked, "did you run here with a giant tray of... wait a minute," she added, coming to a realization. "I know you. You're Cure Yell, yes?"
"Hai!" Hana said, popping up to her feet. "Nono Hana. We met briefly when I brought Nodoka here to the hospital. It's lovely to meet you officially!"
"Oh! Awesome!" Hinata said. "I'm Hiramitsu Hinata! Cure Sparkle!"
"And my name is Sawaizumi Chiyu," Chiyu replied. "And I'm Cure Fontaine. It is a pleasure to meet you as well."
"Hold up!" Hinata said. "Are those cupcakes for Nodoka?"
"Yeah!" Hana replied. "I wanted to celebrate her getting discharged!"
"Well that is very kind of you," Chiyu said.
"Hana!" Harry said, gasping for breath as he pathetically stumbled his way over to the group. "Thank... goodness... you're... okay...!"
"Oh, Harry!" Hana said. "You haven't met Nodoka's teammates, have you?"
Harry looked up, Hugtan still laughing happily in his arms, before he noticed something at his feet. Latte was sniffing at him, barking in delight at him! "Oh no..." he said. "Don't even think about it, dog!"
Latte continued to bark, causing Harry to jump and run away, the dog chasing after him! Nyatoran and Pegitan knowing that they couldn't let their eyes off of Latte, quickly chased after their fellow fairy companions!
"What in the world happened there?" Hinata asked.
"I'll explain later," Hana replied. "For now, let them have fun! Come on! I wanna see Nodoka again!"
"Oh, right!" Hinata agreed, chasing after the Hugtto Precure member. Chiyu was left to follow behind them, wondering how she might fair with another individual akin to Hinata's energy.
Once they got inside, they made their way to Nodoka's room, Hana leaving her sweets at the front desk for Nodoka to have once she got out. As the trio found Nodoka in her room, they saw that sure enough, she was able to sit up without her breathing mask. "Oh, hello everyone!" Nodoka greeted happily.
"Nodoka!" the others said.
"How're you feeling?" Chiyu asked.
"Much better, thank you," Nodoka replied. "And Nono-san, you came back!"
"Of course!" Hana replied. "I said I would, so I did! Also, you don't have to keep calling me 'Nono-san.' Please, call me Hana!"
Nodoka smiled gently. "If you say so," she said.
"So how's it been?" Hinata asked. "Is it boring? Have they had to prod you?"
"No. Nothing like that," Nodoka replied. "It's been nice. Hana actually spent quite a bit of time with me yesterday after you both left."
"She did?" Hinata and Chiyu asked. Hana merely nodded happily.
"Well, that is very nice of you," Chiyu said.
"Yeah," Hinata agreed. "That's pretty awesome of you."
"I just did what I could!" Hana said, rubbing her neck. "So, Nodoka-chan," she added to her fellow pink haired Cure, "when can you get out?"
"In the next few hours," Nodoka replied. "My dad is gonna show up soon and get me discharged when he's finished with work."
"Perfect!" Hana said. "Wait. A few 'hours' you said?"
"Yeah," Nodoka replied. "My parents are both at work right now. My dad is gonna show up and get me discharged when he finishes up."
"Uh..." Hana said. "On that thought, I'll be right back!" Promptly, she rushed out as fast as she could! Her cupcakes were gonna get cold by the time Nodoka got discharged, so she had to think of something!
Thankfully, with a quick rush back to the KiraPati and some more understanding from the bakers there, the cupcakes were kept simmering until Nodoka got discharged. Then she ran all the way back, taking a cursory glance to see that all the fairies were still chasing each other, before she arrived back in Nodoka's hospital room, once again short for breath.
"Everything okay Hana?" Nodoka asked.
"Fine!" Hana said, ignoring her tiredness. "So... where were we?"
The group continued to chat until Nodoka's father arrived and discharged Nodoka from the hospital, where Hana revealed the cupcakes that she had reclaimed after he initially arrived. The process was long enough that Hana was able to rush over to the bakery again to grab the cupcakes, now sitting in a basket to aide transport, and arrive just as Nodoka left the hospital. "Here!" she said. "For you!"
Nodoka looked at the steaming cupcakes, rather taken aback. "Did... did you get these for me?" she asked.
"Of course!" Hana said. "I wanted to give you a big push to celebrate getting discharged!"
Nodoka smiled as she took a bite of one cupcake, which was blissfully flavored! "They're delicious!" she said.
"Leave it to KiraPati!" Hana grinned. "Only the best for my friends, I say!"
She took a few steps back as she waved to Nodoka. "I won't keep you from your friends and family," she said. "I'll see you around! Have a good day! Hooray! Hooray! Nodoka-chan!"
Nodoka watched Hana leave, as the Hugtto Pink Cure managed to wrangle Harry! Nodoka smiled as she reached into the basket for another cupcake, feeling something weird inside. As she nudged the cupcake aside, she saw a piece of paper which had Hana's phone number written on it that said, "Call me later! ^^"
"Who was that?" Nodoka's father asked.
"A... new friend," Nodoka replied, grinning at the paper.
"See you later!" Nodoka called out, as she left her home again. It had been about a day since she had left the hospital, and she was now able to totally get by on her own. Nodoka felt a lot better now that she was able to get over her exhaustion and was able to head back out.
The morning felt so bright in the wake of the massive battle that had transpired prior, leaving Nodoka with a certain lightheartedness as she made her way to school. She also couldn't deny that she was quite happy with her chats with Hana.
Sure enough, she called Hana after she had gotten discharged from the hospital. Hana was naturally very animated in her chats, ensuring that Nodoka was getting everything done to take care of herself and feel better emotionally in addition to physically.
As she walked, imagining what her day would be like, she couldn't help but hear a thundering noise right behind her. Turning around, she was startled as she saw a certain, familiar pink haired girl rushing over towards her, screeching to a halt right in front of her with a billow of dust!
"Nodoka-chan!" Hana said.
"Hana-chan?" Nodoka asked. "What is going on?"
"I wanted to see you!" Hana said. "You told me you were going back to school today in our , so I wanted to wish you luck!"
Nodoka was naturally startled at Hana's reaction. "Really?" she asked. "You came all this way from Hagukumi to Sukoyaka just to see me and wish me luck?"
"Of course!" Hana said. "After all, I wanted to give you all the encouragement I could give so you can hit the ground running!"
Nodoka smiled as she felt greatly touched by Hana once more. It seemed that no matter how many times Nodoka thought that she couldn't get any more amazed by Hana Nono, the girl would somehow find a way to amaze her once again with her selflessness. Although...
"But… do tell, Hana-san," Nodoka asked, "don't you have school too?"
Hana was silent for a moment, merely meeting Nodoka's gaze for a minute or two, before she paled astronomically. "Mechokku!" she said in despair.
She promptly turned and bolted down the street, clearly running back for her home! "Have a good day, Nodoka-chan!" she called behind her. "I'll be cheering for you! Hooray! Hooray! Nodoka-chan! Hooray! Hooray! Nodoka-chan!"
Nodoka could only look on in astonishment as Hana continued to run off. She smiled after a moment, before she turned and resumed her walk. "Hooray. Hooray. Hana-san," Nodoka mused to herself as she went on her way, wanting to do her part to give back a bit to the girl who was so determined to be there for her, grateful for the dedication of the girl called Cure Yell.
A/N: Thank you very much for reading "An Emotional Crutch" my first Precure fanfiction!
So, as I prefaced this, I am a new fan to the Precure series. And as I've gone on, I quickly found myself getting pulled further and further into it! With that being said, two of my favorite series that have lead to two of my favorite Cures are Hugtto Precure and Healin Good Precure!
Hugtto Precure was one of the earliest that I had exposure to, which is purely because of the movie "All-Stars Memories." Although, the further I looked into it, I quickly began to get more attached. And that is in large part thanks to Hana!
Honestly, Hana is the Cure that I grew attached to more than any other in any Precure series that I have looked at thus far. And I know that is pretty early for me to say, considering I haven't actually finished any Precure series yet, but I have no doubt that it will continue into the future. Not only does Hana have such a lovable personality as it is, but she is honestly well-developed too with her character from what I've heard, and until I'm proven otherwise, this might actually make her one of the most fleshed out Cures.
And a character that is quickly becoming another contender for that role, is Nodoka from Healin Good! In such a short amount of time, Healin Good Precure is becoming one of the most engaging Precure I've seen yet! It has a great start, and I hope that it doesn't end up losing steam, because it has a great and fleshed out opening!
Nodoka by herself has the makings of a great backstory in mind! Facets of her past that she is struggling to move past that drives her to embrace the life she has now. In many respects, it's similar yet different to Hana's own backstory.
This is why I felt these two could have a great dynamic. Not only do the two have personalities that could mesh well, with Nodoka being kind and patient and Hana being excitable and optimistic, not to mention Hana being the type that would want to push Nodoka further and be by her side as an emotional support with her health problems. I just felt these two could work well, and it's why I'm personally very excited for the upcoming movie Miracle Leap, which will allow these two to meet up together!
On that note, I did notice upon writing the segment with the Kirakira Precure that I lost an opportunity by not giving a cameo to the Star Twinkle team, considering that the three teams that will be meeting up in Miracle Leap are the Hugtto, Healin Good, and Star Twinkle Precure. Which lead me to that moment I mentioned with Hinata accidentally messing with a girl with "antennae" who is obviously Lala, who also has the makings to become one of my other favorite Precure. Just a fun fact there for you!
Also, I'm sure some of you out there might be wondering about the fight with Black Hole that I kinda glossed over? Well, in fairness it served mostly just to act as the means of introducing Hana to Nodoka outside of the context of the upcoming movie. It's honestly the only part that I would have adjusted, but I feel it ultimately serves its purpose.
Not much else to say, aside from the fact that I hope that this story was enjoyable, and I hope to do more in the future! Obviously this was pretty spur of the moment, especially considering I've yet to finish a full season of Precure, but I hope that when I do I can make something even more enjoyable to read! Until then, thank you very much for reading, and have a wonderful night!
