Chapter 1
As Natsu tracked through the forest he didn't realize what or who he would find today.
Turning around a big tree, he sees her, a little girl of about 7 or 8, he thinks. She was curled up next to a young fox, and she had wrapped her arms around the fox with bits of her dark purple hair draping over. She's wearing a school girl dress with multiple holes in it, and it's incredibly dirty which led Natsu to believe she has been living in the forest for some time.
He cautiously walks over to the girl and gently nudges her awake. As her eyes flutter open she notices Natsu, and her eyes shoot open in surprise as she backs away from him. The fox lying next to her jumps up and growls at Natsu, trying to scare him away. When that didn't work the little girl mumbles something.
"Raion, Raion," and suddenly a vortex opens and from it, a lion appears. The girl seems to have full control over the lion, forcing it to step forward in an attack stance, ready to pounce on Natsu. Natsu begins to panic, not wanting to hurt the lion, and starts to talk to the girl.
"Woah! I'm not trying to hurt you. I just want to help," she looks surprised that he talked to her, and the lion then suddenly walks behind the girl and sits down as she pets it.
"W-what do you want?" her voice was shaky, showing him that she was scared of him.
"I saw you sleeping. I have a place you can go, maybe learn more about your magic. It seems you have powerful magic; I've never seen anyone with that kind before." He softly smiles, trying to allow the girl to have some trust in him.
"You guys can't help me with my magic, my great aunt told me only people in my blood line can have it. Even then there is a small chance you'll get it." She smiles at him hesitantly, making Natsu realize she did somewhat trust him.
"Kid I get it. I'm the only one with my magic, too." He walked closer and she seemed to allow it.
"W-where are you going to take me?" he knew that question was coming and was excited about it.
"I'm taking you to Fairy Tail!" he exclaimed, smile growing wider.
"I've heard it, my great aunt told me it had many powerful wizards." She looked nervous but at the same time excited.
"What's your name?" he asked, figuring he should at least know her name.
"My name is Neoma, it's Greek for new moon," she proudly stated.
"Are you okay going with me?" Natsu hopes she'll say yes, as he doesn't want her to live like how she is now. She thinks for a long time, and the longer she thinks, the more anxious Natsu gets. Finally, after a long 5 minutes, she finally speaks.
"I'll go with you." Natsu smiles, happy she said yes. She whispers something and a vortex opens up, and the lion vanishes. Natsu offers his hand to help her get up and she takes it.
They get to the Guild Hall and Neoma stops Natsu right before he opens the door.
"I'm nervous, what if they don't accept me as a member?" she questions herself, and Natsu recalls how he had done the same his first time going to Fairy Tail.
"Don't worry, I promise everything'll be fine," he reassures her, knowing that she needs it. She nods but still hides behind Natsu as they walk in. Everyone running wild frightened Neoma and she flinched, moving farther behind Natsu. Natsu turns to her and gets down on one knee.
"Don't worry, Neoma, they aren't gonna hurt you." Natsu smiles, then turns around and yells for everyone to shut up and listen. Everyone turns to him and a navy haired boy walks over.
"No one cares what you have to say, Natsu." Then suddenly the two started fighting. When Natsu starts to use his flames, Neoma immediately knows how to stop them. She mumbled a spell to summon a creature that could stop Natsu's flames.
"Sanshōo, Sanshōo, Sanshōo." Suddenly a salamander appeared and ate Natsu's flames. She then yells at them for the first time.
"STOP FIGHTING!" She puts herself in the middle of them and they stop immediately. Natsu turns to her and immediately feels the guilt of fighting in front of her.
"I'm so sorry," he apologizes and realizes he has to introduce Neoma. "Everyone, this is Neoma, she will be joining Fairy Tail." Everyone suddenly gets very excited and crowd around the poor girl. Neoma got scared by all the people and hid behind Natsu. "Hey, back off! She's super shy, go away!" His fist lights on fire and he growls at them threateningly. They, understandably, back off reluctantly.
Natsu turns to Neoma. "Look, kid, you're gonna have to talk to them at some point, so let's do it now." Natsu drags Neoma, introducing her to everybody. She really only says hi to everyone, except when Natsu reluctantly introduces her to Gray.
"Yo, Gray!" Natsu yells as they are walking up to Gray. Natsu pushes Neoma forward so she's standing only 3 feet away from him. "This Neoma, she's new to the guild, and if you scare her I'll kill you."
"Uhh h-hi," Neoma mumbles but it was loud enough for Gray to catch it.
"Hi! Wow you seem way too shy to be hanging around Natsu." Gray's shirt disappears landing in the ground without him noticing.
"Uh, Gray?" By seeing the shirtless Gray, she gets flustered, going bright red.
"Yes?" Gray still hasn't seemed to notice the fact he is shirtless.
"Um, could you put your shirt on, please?"
"EHH?!" Gray grabs his shirt struggling to put it on quickly. The sight of this makes Neoma start laughing.
"Gray, you and Natsu are so much like my great aunt! I like you guys." Her smile, to them, was warm and heart throbbing.
Neoma found her place in the world. That's all she has ever wanted.
