Eddie knew about Rachel's curse, he was one of the only people she trusted enough to tell. Rachel had told him soon after they started dating as he had asked why she kept away from any needle or anything sharp that could harm her, and he knew that only true loves kiss would break the eternal sleep that would come upon her.

That night they were having dinner at a restaurant in town to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Eddie had decided to impress Rachel by going to buy a shirt and tie that he could wear, so had gone shopping while Rachel changed into her dress and applied her makeup.
As Rachel put on her dress she heard a voice - it was whispering her name. She turned to see where the voice came from, expecting to see a person but instead she was met with a green light.

As she looked at the green light she was pulled into a trance and she followed as the light beckoned her.
She slowly walked to the door and down the stairs, following the light into the living room, and for the moment the trance faded.
Stood in the middle of the room was Melissa. She was Rachel's sister but Melissa had always despised her prettier, caring sister.

"Rachel." Melissa greeted surprisingly coldly.

"Melissa? What are you doing here." Rachel questioned curiously, though when Melissa was concerned it was never good news.

"I have come to finally fulfil my dream!" Melissa laughed evilly and took pleasure from the look of fear on Rachel's face. Melissa snapped her fingers and Rachel's trance-like state seemed to form again.

Melissa had of course placed a rose in the middle of the table, aware of the fact that when Rachel picked it up, her delicate finger would be pricked.
"Pick up the rose." Melissa demanded sternly and watched with a smirk as Rachel compelled with her demand and slowly walked towards the table, where the rose lay, with an outstretched arm.

Eddie by now had finished shopping and was parked in the drive and ready to greet his beautiful wife.

He walked into the house and stood inside the doorway, waiting to hear a sound that suggested where Rachel was. He heard movement in the living room so closed the front door and walked towards the sounds.

Eddie was startled to see Melissa stood there, he exchanged a glare before focusing his attention on Rachel. His eyes widened when he realised what was happening.

He jumped forward in an attempt to stop Rachel's finger touching the thorn but it was too late.
He wrapped his arms around her as she collapsed into the deep sleep, making sure she did not hit the floor. When he heard Melissa's voice he turned and saw her disappear into thin air, leaving behind a large puff of green smoke.

Eddie lifted Rachel up into his arms and placed her onto the sofa. Taking a moment to study Rachel's beauty as she slept peacefully. He loved her lips that were a soft pink tone and traced his finger over them affectionately. He also loved her auburn hair which was as soft as silk and softly stroked her hair. As he caressed the stone cold skin on her cheek he promised himself that he would love her forever.
He slowly lowered his head and placed his lips gently on hers for a gentle kiss.

He slowly pulled back to look at her beautiful face he smiled as he saw her eyes gently flutter open.
Rachel smiled at him so warmly his heart melted as he pulled her into his embrace and kissed her gently on the lips.

Eddie would protect her from Melissa.
