I decided to write up another Oliver/Laurel fic with some changes to canon.
Simply put, Sara's story as the Canary in the present and her past with Oliver in the flashbacks is one of Arrow's season 2 highlights. However, it was given to the wrong sister, they should have given that storyline to Dinah Laurel Lance instead because it works fine as a BC story done in Arrow's way.

Starling City Clocktower
Closing a window Dinah Laurel Lance is in her Black Canary suit made of a black leather jacket with yellow detailing and fishnet material that is nearly zipped up to her neck with long sleeves covering her entire arms. A pair of black pants, a garter-like belt, thigh-high boots, domino mask, and gloves all made of leather. Lance's hair is cut short near her neck where it comes into a curl. Made sure to cut it short so less recognizable once running from the League.
Sighing Laurel or rather Dinah, makes her way over to a bench where removing her mask sets it down on the table knowing that was a close call. Because of showing up to save Sara and her father after her sister got kidnapped by the Dollmaker, and left him to be captured by the police. Maybe this time they will stick Mathis in Slabside where they have Moira Queen at instead of Iron Heights, Dinah notes.
Hearing movement Dinah turns seeing a member of the League of Assassins walk out of the shadows, and pull off his hood for revealing a man with Asian features.
"You should not have come here," Dinah says.
"I had no choice. Ra's Al Ghul has ordered your return and not even your friendship with his daughter will save you" the man says.
"I'm not going back, I can't. Tell Ras you couldn't find me" Dinah orders.
"I won't lie for you" the man replies pulling a knife from his belt.
Dinah rapidly grabs his hand with the knife, spins the man around, and jams the knife into his throat with letting him fall to the ground. Letting out a sigh Dinah left the League because no longer wanting to be a killer, but this League member forced her hand. She's not ready to leave stop watching over her family.
Besides her mother who was never around growing up either, always off running around so Quentin was forced to raise both Sara and her more or less by himself, while still being a detective for the SCPD. Needless to say, Dinah was not surprised when her mother less than a year after the Gambit went down had already bolted from Starling City, with getting a divorce from her father.
And taking on the first name of her mother Dinah Drake Lance, is less of honoring Ms. Drake but rather Dinah reflects because Laurel a naive young girl wanting to help the world by becoming a lawyer, died when the Queen's Gambit went down.
Months later in the Verdant basement
Oliver wearing grey suit pants, suit jacket and a white dress shirt with the top buttons open is standing near the table with Roy laying on it sedated. Meanwhile a few feet away is Dinah is wearing gray jeans, yellow blouse and a black leather jacket.
"Thank you for stopping me from killing Roy, I just got so blinded by my rage of Sin getting hurt I fell back into my darkness," Dinah says.
"You're not running away?" Oliver asks hopeful.
Dinah walks over with placing her hand on the side of her boyfriend's face who covers it with his, as their eyes meet.
"Ollie, I've been alongside you since our childhood, from the Gambit, to the island facing Ivo, Slade, and the League of Assassins to give up on you or my family by leaving," Dinah says softly.
Nodding "I'm glad you're staying" Oliver replies because he was worried this set back would send her running.
"We still have Slade's army to deal with and given I'm not getting an army from the League well not sure what our next plan is," Dinah says.
"I've got a plan for that" Oliver replies.
"Anatoly? After all, he did understand why you refused Alexi's request and offered help" Dinah says.
"No, they might put up a good fight but need others with more skill. Like Talia's group for the League of Shadows," Oliver replies.
"Talia is in Talia al Ghul Ollie?" Dinah asks in surprise.
"Yes, we met during my five years away. She was one of my teachers, and how I know so much about Ras's organization" Oliver replies.
Stepping back Oliver pulls out his cellphone walking else into another part to go make a call for getting an army.

I sent Moira to Slabside given while that did not exist until Arrow season 7, that prison does seem more fitting to hold Moira given Moira's terrorist actions for the Undertaking.
For clearly putting Dinah Drake Lance being Quentin's wife is my dig towards the Arrow showrunners of the whole Dinah Drake who showed up as a patch Black Canary mess in season 5.
You know instead of Arrow writers bringing Laurel back to life.
Gave earth 1 Laurel or well Dinah the suit Laurel's earth 2 self, wore in season 8 because I consider that to be one of the best Black Canary suits for Arrowverse hands down.
