I like Contestshipping. I think it's like the only real romance between main characters in the anime (besides Serena's crush on Ash, but I like Pokeshipping). Anyway, I just threw an idea out there and am surprised at how well it turned out. Enjoy~
"Let's go!" pleads a brunette with sapphire blue eyes towards a man with green hair and emerald green eyes.
"No, May. I don't want to go." The young man says while keeping his attention on his Poke'nav.
May is sitting with her knees on the couch facing him. "C'mon Drew! It's your 15th year reunion!"
The man, Drew, lets out an annoyed huff. "Yeah, May. I didn't go to the 10th year reunion either."
"Why not? I went to mine."
"Because we were 10 the last time we saw each other! I think these school reunions are so stupid." he furrows his brows and looks at her.
"Please, Drewwwwww" May has her hands on his knee since he is sitting on the couch she is on. He has one leg extended on the couch while the other is draped towards the ground. She is kneeling next to his calf that is on the couch and Drew's back is leaning against one of the armrest.
Blushing, Drew looks back at his Poke'nav. "No, May. It's dumb. Now drop it."
"Fine. Then I'll just go home." the brunette gets off the couch and Drew sighs.
He inwardly groans and says, "Fine."
Smiling, May runs back and kisses the pouting man on the lips. "Thanks, Drew! I can't wait to meet all of your friends!"
"Sure." He mutters annoyed. May and Drew started dating a few years ago after they reunited at Dawn's and Paul's wedding as Dawn's guests. After a lot of drinking at the reception, the two woke up naked in May's hotel room. They've been dating ever since; however, they are not living in the same city. 24 year old May Maple is still in Petalburg City with her parents and Max while 25 year old Drew Hayden is residing in his LaRousse City penthouse.
2 Weeks Later
It is the day of Drew's 15th Year Poke' School Reunion and the man is dreading it. After a shower, he is slowly changing into a navy blue suit with a white button-down shirt. He reaches for the red tie May wants him to wear since it matches with her long red strapless dress, but decides against it. With his green hair, he'll just look Christmas themed. He groans and sits on his bed and looks at himself in the mirror.
"This is so stupid." He mutters to himself. Despite not wanting to go, Drew always dresses his best and does his hair. He looks down at his Poke'nav. May had gone back to Petalburg a week ago and said she'd get ready before making the drive to LaRousse today. She should be here soon.
Drew sighs at his reflection in the mirror. He can't wait for this night to end. Then he and May will come back to his apartment, and she'll reward him for going to this dumb event he doesn't want to go to. As he is deep in thought about hating tonight, his Poke'nav rings.
"I'm outside, Drew!" he hears the excited voice of his girlfriend.
"Great." he isn't even trying to fake happiness as he is sure she is rolling her eyes at him. He puts on his brown dress shoes and leaves the penthouse to meet May outside. As he gets into the car, he notices how beautiful she looks in her red dress and silver jewelry. He's in such a daze that he almost forgets about the annoying event they're going to. Almost.
May frowns at him. "Where's your tie?"
He puts his seatbelt on and shrugs. "I look better without it." He then smirks and flicks his hair. "I look better without a lot of things on too."
"You're disgusting." The brunette says with a blush on her face. Even though she knows Drew is like this, she still blushes every time. Still smirking, Drew lays back in his seat as they drive off towards the school.
Since LaRousse City is a wealthy city, the schools have a lot of money. Moreover, Drew attended a private Poke' school, so once they pull up, a vallet takes the car. May takes Drew's arm and they approach the registration table. Drew can't help but admire his beautiful girlfriend with her long diamond earrings and simple diamond necklace. The 2-inch heels also show off her legs rather nicely.
The man shakes the thought from his mind when one of the ladies at the registration table exclaims, "Oh my Groudon! It's Drew Hayden!" he winces to himself knowing what is coming next as more squeels are heard and a stampede of women surround him.
"Can I get my nametag?" He asks while ignoring the women around him. Fortunately, May is holding onto him rather tightly. Their relationship isn't private, especially after all these years together, so their fans know they are together. However, they still get their fair share of fans swooning over them.
Fortunately, one of the ladies at the registration table hands Drew his nametag and May's. Being famous coordinators, the two don't need to tell too many people their names. They manage to make their way inside the school and Drew instantly collapses on a seat by an empty table.
May giggles and sits next to him. "I'm the one who made the 3 hour drive here." She tells him matter-of-factly.
He gives her a weak smile. "Can we go yet?"
She rolls her eyes at him. "We just got here, Drew. At least let me meet your friends."
"Don't have any."
"What?" she asks him, surprised.
He shrugs. "I was 10 the last time I saw these people, May. Do you really think I kept in contact with anyone? My only friends came as I traveled and got older: you, Solidad, Harley, Ash, and Dawn."
"Then why did you agree to come?"
He sighs and looks into her sapphire eyes. "Because you really wanted to come."
May frowns and awkwardly looks at the table knowing he is right. She did pressure him 2 weeks ago to come to his reunion. "Sor-"
"Want to dance?" He interrupts. She returns her attention to her boyfriend who is now smiling gently at her with an extended hand. She smiles back and nods to him as they head to the dance floor hand-in-hand. They dance to a few fast paced songs before a slow song comes on and May dances in Drew's arms. The two have gotten their fair share of whispers from those around them since they are famous. In addition, some people have approached them for pictures, which May happily agrees to.
As her head is resting on his shoulder, May says, "I'm sorry, Drew."
She is surprised to hear him chuckle. "Don't be, May."
May removes her head to look into his emerald green eyes. "Why? I made you come here when you didn't want to." She sadly replies.
Drew places his forehead on hers so that she continues looking at his face. May always brings out the best in him. She motivates him, she supports him, she listens to him, she takes care of him, she entertains him, and most importantly, she loves him unconditionally. "Because I'm having so much fun with my beautiful girlfriend." he smiles while staring into those blue eyes he loves. May blushes as she finds herself getting lost in his green eyes. "I love you, May Maple."
"I love you too, Drew Hayden." She smiles and reaches her head in for a kiss, but the music changes to an upbeat one, which breaks the mood. The two separate and May awkwardly laughs. "Want to get a drink?" She asks him.
Drew nods and she takes his arm to the table with the drinks and food. Seeing the food, May grabs a paper plate and piles on the horderves while Drew shakes his head and grabs them two cups for drinks. The couple then sits at an empty table. As May digs into the food, Drew can't help but chuckle. This is another reason he likes May: she doesn't care what others think about her. She's shoving the food into her mouth in an unlady-like way, but she doesn't care. She doesn't care that he has mountains of fangirls. She doesn't care that he's rich. She doesn't care that he's famous, even before she became famous herself. Rather, she cares that he is Drew, her friend and boyfriend.
The green haired man smiles at his girlfriend as she eats her second plate. How she can eat so much and not gain weight, Drew has no idea. "May must not have stopped for food on her drive here," He thinks to himself. He'll cook her a nice meal tomorrow, well, Drew usually cooks since he is the better cook.
"What are you smiling at?" She asks him, which breaks his train of thought.
Fortunately, Drew Hayden doesn't get startled, so he flicks his hair with a smirk while leaning back in his chair. "Wondering why you became a coordinator rather than a competitive eater."
She rolls her eyes at his teasing and throws her plate away. Once she returns, she grabs his arm to get him out of his chair. "Let's take a picture!" She drags him to one of the many photobooths, so the line is not that long.
As they stand in line, Drew notices the many women eying him up and down, and he inwardly groans. But then he also notices the many men eying May, which ticks him off, so he wraps an arm protectively around her. This surprises May as she was talking to him, so she looks at him confused. "Just sending a message to these other women that I'm taken." He smirks at her.
May just rolls her eyes again and pecks his cheek. "Whatever, Drew. You know I don't get jealous."
"Not anymore." He knowingly remarks.
"Well, yeah. Why would I be jealous when I know you love me?" she shrugs in his arms. Drew chuckles. This is another thing he likes about May. She is secure. She knows what she wants and she knows her worth as well as the worth of those around her. He plants a kiss on her head, which earns him a little hug from her. Once it is their turn for photos, they take a normal smiling picture, a kissing picture, and then there's a bunch of May doing silly faces and poses while Drew is unamused. "C'mon, Drew! Just do one funny one with me!" She pleads with her large blue eyes.
Seeing as how they are holding up the line, despite it being unlimited photos, Drew rolls his eyes and picks up May bridal style. He opens his mouth to pretend to eat the surprised woman's face as the camera flashes. He then puts her down with a smug look on his face and grabs her hand to walk off the photodrop.
While waiting for their photos to print, May is standing with one of Drew's arms draped around her shoulders. "What was that for?" She mutters, still hiding her blush.
He smirks at her. "You received what you asked for, your majesty."
"Not fair. I wasn't ready." May crosses her arms in front of her as she playfully pouts.
Drew chuckles and plants a kiss on her head. "I like it when you're not ready."
"That better not be referring to anything dirty, Drew." She tells him knowingly. He gives her an innocent smile and grabs their photos. May looks through the pictures and her grin grows with each one. Drew checks the time and notices they have been here for 3 hours now. The event will be ending soon, and he wants to avoid traffic.
"Wanna get out of here?" He asks the brunette whose attention is still on the photos in her hands.
She looks up at him and gives him a tired smile. "Yeah. That drive really exhausted me." she admits.
Drew offers her his arm to hold onto. "That's fine. I'll drive."
When they get outside, they give the valet the ticket and he goes off in search of their car. It is fairly chilly outside as they wait, so Drew takes off his suit jacket and places it on May. She gratefully smiles at him. "Thanks, Drew." She pecks his cheek and he grins back.
This is another thing he loves about May. She is very low-maintenance. She doesn't take much to please and she is always grateful. The more difficult things that she wants in life, she goes out and gets them herself. He chuckles to himself. To think, he, Drew Hayden, would ever fall in love.
"Drew?"
He snaps his attention back to those sapphire eyes. "Uh, yeah?" He asks her. Hopefully she wasn't calling his name too many times.
"Are you okay? You've seemed very spacey tonight." her blue eyes are full of concern as she stares into his emerald green one.
Drew can't help but give her a genuinely happy grin. He loves her so much. Before he knows what is happening, the words leave his mouth, "Marry me, May?"
She gives him a confused look before her eyes go wide with realization at his words. "Uh...Drew-"
"Wait!" He exclaims and removes his arm from around her waist. He runs to one of the many potted plants outside and uses his pocket knife to cut off a red rose. He then runs back to his blushing girlfriend and gets down on one knee while holding the rose up to her. The people around them are gasping and watching intently. Some of Drew's fangirls are glaring, but the couple is too caught up in the moment to notice. "May Haruka Maple, will you marry me?" He asks her hopefully while looking into those sapphire eyes he loves.
May smiles at him and tears start to creep down her face. She reaches out her left hand tentatively to touch a part of the rose without thorns while her other hand covers her mouth in shock. The brunette nods happily while exclaiming, "Yes! Yes, I'll marry you, Drew!"
Drew's expression turns into an equally happy one as he grabs May and spins her around. When he places her back on the ground, he crashes his lips onto hers for a nice, deep, passionate kiss. Once they break for air, he pants out, "I love you, May."
Grinning back at him, May says, "I love you too, Drew Hayden." She then pecks his cheek as they notice the valet has since arrived with her car. Blushing while also seeing the crowd of people watching them, they quickly thank the valet, tip him, and hop in the car to go back to Drew's penthouse.
As May admires the rose, Drew smiles to himself. He'll get her an engagement ring later, but he knows May won't care because, again, she isn't that type of person. She's caring, loving, selfless, and brings out the best in people. He catches a quick glance at his giddy fiance' before focusing on the road again. Maybe Poke' School Reunions aren't so dumb after all.
